Hermione sat at the edge of the bed her head hung. Viktor hadn't come up yet from down stairs. She hadn't heard a noise from him since handing him the Gragen leaves. He was a proud Bulgarian man and she had hurt that pride. She didn't know what to say though. Yes she had lied, but she had a feeling that wasn't what he was upset about. He was upset about that last comment, but he had given her no choice. She slowly got up and stretched wiping the sweat caused by the mend-a-bone potion from her brow. She looked herself over in the mirror to make sure she was somewhat presentable and looked not at all hurt in any way. She went down the stairs and looked around the rooms before heading to the first floor where the fight had begun. As she came down the spiral stair case she froze and peered around the space.
"Viktor?" She asked. When no answer came she moved down the stairs and into the room. "Love?" Her eyes rested on the coffee table and her eyes widened seeing a note. She slowly walked over and took it in hand.
Mina,
I need some time to think about us. Please don't contact me.
Viktor.
Hermione's breath instantly hitched in her throat as she dropped to her knees. She stared down at the note in hand. Reading it over and over again. He couldn't have meant what he had written. But she knew he had. The thing that bothered her the most was how final it felt. Her jaw clenched as a tear rolled down her cheek.
I've finally done it… I've pushed him away from me…
She slowly let her eyes drift around the apartment. It was so big, and she was so alone inside. Her first thought was to race to the muggle phone in Hogwarts and call her mom, but she instantly realized that wasn't an option anymore. She had no one now, there was only her. Her heart ached in that moment, for the first time ever she was on her own, and that fact scared her more than any death eater ever had. A sob escaped her and she instantly covered her mouth to keep it in, knowing that if she started crying she wouldn't be able to stop. Her eyes slowly widened as she felt the tears start to cascade down her cheeks without thinking she took a deep breath.
"Dobby?" she called out her voice shaking. She heard a pop and gave a watery laugh as the large wide eyed elf appeared before her.
"What can I do…" His voice trailed off. "Misses?" She let out a sob and he instantly ran to her. He wrapped his tiny arms around her neck, one of his hands going to the back of her head. "It's okay Misses…" he said. "Whatever it is it'll be okay…"
"I ruin everything." She cried.

Viktor slowly sat up in bed as the sunlight beamed in through the curtains. He hadn't slept that night. Not since writing the note. But he had felt he had no choice but to leave. He was useless to Hermione. His jaw clenched as he looked over his arm which still rested in the sling. He could scream at the top of his lungs in that moment. It was his damn hand that had started this mess.
If he hadn't have gotten injured Hermione would have never had to have lied and gone into the forest. She would have never come back injured and they would have never fought. She wouldn't have ever said to him what she had said to him. He kept playing those words over and over in his head.
"Because I can't trust that you can protect yourself right now let alone have my back in the heat of battle if I need you to!" She snapped before looking off as she took a deep shaking breath. "You… You damaged not only your snitch catching hand but your wand wielding one as well… I'm sorry…"
Each time he remembered them his anger built more and more. Not with her, it wasn't Hermione's fault his hand had been crushed after all. But with himself. He was her love, her husband to be. He was supposed to protect her, how could he with the useless wand wielding hand he had now? It's why he had to leave. He couldn't bring himself to look her in the eye.
It had always been hard to be with Hermione and maintain any manly confidence. After all, she was all powerful. Literally. She had exceeded Dumbledore when it came to contorting magics to her every whim. Not to mention she was brave. More brave then anyone he had met. She could look danger right in the eyes and scare it half to death. He had realized early on that he couldn't compete with her on many levels, and that had been fine, because when she needed him to he would have her back. He couldn't do that now. Viktor quickly got out of bed his anger flying.
"Damn my hand!" He bellowed as she kicked over his desk.

Hermione took a deep breath as she stared at the floor where a beam of light had been casted for the past few hours. She hadn't slept at all. Instead she had laid on her bed, like she was now, her head on Dobby's lap as he smoothed out her hair. She felt so disconnected in that moment, and utterly alone, though she would be eternally grateful to the house elf caring for her.
"Dobby?" She asked softly.
"Yes misses?"
"You won't leave me will you?"
"Never misses…"

Viktor straightened out his sling as he walked through the hallways of the manor. His mind kept going to Hermione. He couldn't believe he had left nothing but a note, but he felt as though he didn't have any other choice. He couldn't have brought himself to face her and say what he needed to say. Even still he didn't get across what he wanted to in the note.
Don't contact me… It was a harsh way to put it but I do need time… Hermione always said she was afraid she wouldn't fit in my life, but now it's I who now thinks they don't fit… His eyes went to his hand. I don't know if I do thanks to this bum hand…
"Viktor." Dag said sitting up at the dining room table.
"Viktor darling, I'm surprised to see you." Sophia said with a smile as her son walked over to his usual place.
"Yeah, I slept here last night." He said as a waffle formed before him. He stared at it for a long moment, who was he kidding? He couldn't eat, not even if he was starving.
"Is Hermione going to join us?" Ivan asked with a smile as he looked over the prophet at yet another photo of his future daughter in law who was smiling brightly at Viktors side in the photograph.
"No." Viktor said.
"Oh is she not feeling well still?" Sophia asked taking a sip of tea.
"No she didn't stay here last night." Viktor said as he put some crème in his coffee. Ivan slowly lowered the prophet and looked to him.
"What do you mean she didn't stay here last night?" Ivan asked.
"Did she have one of those secret missions we're not supposed to know about?" Sophia inquired as she smoothed out a napkin over her lap.
"No she slept at the apartment last night and I slept here." He reached for his coffee and Viktor watched as it slid on its own out of his hand. He slowly looked to his father who had his wand in hand, which was pointed at the cup.
"You slept here and she slept at the apartment?" Ivan inquired.
"Yes."
"She slept alone in that apartment?" Ivan asked.
"Yes." Viktor said.
"Hermione? Whose father was just murdered by death eaters and who had to cast her mothers mind away to protect her slept alone in an apartment last night?" Ivan asked and Viktor looked off with realization. "You left her all alone?"
"We had a fight." Ivan stood so fast his chair flew out from behind him.
"It's not an excuse Viktor." He said his voice booming. "You stay here." He ordered before his son could apperate away. "I will handle this."

"You must eat misses…" Dobby said setting a brownie before her. "It's your favorite…" he said when she only stared at it. "Made with Caramel…"
"When did I become this way?" Hermione asked.
"Become what way?" Dobby inquired.
"I feel like I don't know myself right now…" Hermione said. "It's like Viktor was my compass and now that he's gone I don't know what to do with myself, what direction to go in…" She looked to Dobby with wide eyes. "When did I get that way?"
"You've always been that way misses… When Viktor wasn't your compass Harry Potter and that red head I don't like were." Hermione couldn't help but laugh at his words as she looked off.
"You do make a good point… I guess what I'm struggling with is being on my own… but I'm not entirely on my own. I have you." He smiled as he nodded.
"Maybe you should got see Harry potter and the red head with the big ears." Dobby said.
"No they'll just ask questions, and I don't want it to seem like I'm just hanging out with them because Viktor isn't occupying my time… I do miss them though…" She said softly. She heard the door open and smiled as she quickly got up and ran out of the kitchen she stopped when instead of seeing Viktor she saw Ivan. "Oh god… He's sent you to get his stuff hasn't he?" She asked softly. "Is it really over, just like that-."
"No no no I'm here for you child." Ivan said quickly.
"We both are." Sophia said coming out from behind him. Hermione took a deep breath before running to Sophia and wrapping her arms around her. Sophia smiled as she held the girl tightly. "What happened here?" She asked, the apartment looked alright but the energy was anything but.
"Viktor didn't tell you?" Hermione asked as she walked away flipping her hair up into a messy bun as she did. She looked he self over and shrugged, she was alright to be receiving Viktors parents.
"No he didn't." Sophia said.
"We didn't really give him a choice." Ivan said.
"Misses I do hate to intrude." Dobby said.
"What is it Dobby?" She asked.
"Harry Potter is calling me."
"Go ahead, Harry takes precedence over everyone, if it's something extreme you'll let me know?"
"Yes misses." He disappeared with a pop and Hermione took a deep breath as she stared at the spot he had been standing.
"Dobby went above and beyond, he stayed up with me all last night…" Hermione said softly. "So I wouldn't be alone."
"Not that I'm not on my sons side but why did he leave?" Ivan asked and Hermione turned.
"We had this huge fight…" Hermione said her arms crossing over her stomach. Admitting it made her stomach give a retched turn. She hadn't felt well all night long.
"What was it about?"
"I went off last night, I lied to him saying I was hanging out with Ginny when really I went with Fred and George Weasley into the forbidden forest."
"Why would you do something like that?" Ivan asked.
"That's dangerous Hermione." Sophia said with an angry look.
"Yeah I know… But I needed Gragen leaves to jump start cell and nerve production in Viktors hand while I continue to practice my new abilities so I can heal him..." Hermione said. "It's the only place you can get Gragen leaves anymore, it's not like you can buy them… They're illegal after all, but he needed them… Anyways my plan was while he was sleeping to get cleaned up because I was pretty banged up after running into the giant spiders and the Centaurs." Sophia covered he heart absolutely horrified. She was starting to take in Hermione's state. The gash on her forehead the bruise on her chin. "But when I got home Viktor was waiting up for me he knew I had lied to him…"
"Why didn't you ask him to go with you?" Ivan asked sitting on the arm of the couch.
"Because I can't risk him getting hurt further, and also because it's not only his snitch wielding hand but his wand wielding one that was hurt, if we had gotten cornered like I was actually last night he wouldn't have been able to protect himself or back me up as well if needed… It's why I took Fred and George. It's not like I wasn't smart about it." They nodded. "But when Viktor asked me all these questions about why I was bleeding, where I went, why I didn't take him, I didn't want to say because…" Her voice broke. "How can I look the man I love most in the eye and say I did this because you're hurt and you can't protect you or me if needed, he's a proud man, I didn't want to hurt his feelings…" They nodded taking in her distressed look. "I tried to wave off the injuries, I tried to wave it all off but he kept pushing and pushing and yelling and yelling and finally he gave me no choice… I told him about the Gragen leaves and asked him, I asked please Viktor don't ask me why I didn't take you with me, and he did anyways… I tried to hold back on it but he yelled and threatened to leave if I didn't…"
"So you did." Sophia said.
"Yes…" Hermione said. "I gave him the leaves told him to wrap his hand and I went up stairs to wait for him… we both needed some time to calm down. I waited for a few hours and then I came back down and he had left this…" She handed them the note and Ivans jaw clenched. "He was just gone." Hermione said wiping a tear away. "I said I was sorry for it, but he still left… I know I shouldn't have lied, and I know I don't tell him the whole truth a lot but do you know how many secrets I have to keep!?" She snapped. "If I tell the whole truth somebody could get killed and I told him this upon entering a relationship with me… I told him I would get hurt, and I wouldn't be able to tell him where I was going, or with who and he… He said he understood but then he just leaves!" Sophia got up and walked to the distressed girl who broke down. "I'm completely lost right now, I don't know what I'm doing anymore." She cried and Ivan slowly stood. He looked to his wife who nodded as she whispered soothing words to Hermione as he apperated out of the apartment to the floo station.
"It's alright darling…" Sophia said.
"The first thing I thought when I found the note… I wish I could tell my mother." Her voice broke. "Then I remembered she was gone, and then I thought, I wish I could tell Sophia but then I remembered what the note said, and I thought I couldn't go to Bulgaria." Sophia pulled back and cupped her face in her hands.
"Listen to me right now…" Sophia said. "No matter what happens between you and Viktor, which I think will be that you two will work through this, but if by the slim chance it doesn't, you still live with us. Bulgaria and Krum manor are still home to you… You're…" Sophia's voice broke. "You're still my daughter. Do you hear me?" Hermione slowly nodded. "You're still my daughter Hermione." She said wrapping her arms around her tightly. "I love you so much my sweet sweet girl…" She said kissing the top of her head.
"I love you too… Mum…" Sophia smiled softly as a tear rolled down her cheek. Hermione hissed in pain and Sophia pulled back.
"What is it dear?"
"Just my arm, I broke it last night…"
"What?" Sophia asked horrified as Hermione pulled up her sleeve to show it was black and blue with a slight curve.
"It's alright, I need to take another dose of mend-a-bone potion." She said waving it off.
"How many doses have you taken?" Sophia asked.
"More than usual, this will be my sixth."
"No… We're taking you to Dag." Sophia said taking her hand.
"No, I can't go to Bulgaria... Viktor is in Bulgaria-."
"I don't care that arm doesn't look like it's healing at all…" Hermione looked down at it.
"It does look kind of worse… I've tried healing it myself but… I can't seem to do any magic right now."
"Your emotions are too unstable, come on we'll get you fixed up."
"What about Viktor-."
"To hell with Viktor. Besides I was going to have you come back tonight, you're not staying in this place alone… You're coming back home." Sophia said apperating her out of the apartment.

"A note!?" Ivan shouted bursting into his sons' room. Viktor leapt up from his desk where he had been writing a letter to Hermione. "A note!" He yelled.
"Father…"
"I need time to think about us!" He yelled reading it. "Don't contact me! Don't contact me!? Really Viktor!?" He threw it at his son.
"I know I've done wrong-."
"You've done worse than wrong!" Ivan yelled. "My god Viktor do you even know how lucky you are! That girl is the sweetest, kindest, bravest, strongest, most beautiful caring woman in the world and you say I need time to think about us don't contact me after she had risked her life to save your quidditch career!"
"She lied-."
"She has to lie she's Hermione Granger savior of the world okay she has a lot riding on her shoulders which she doesn't burden you with. Why? Because she's the sweetest, kindest, bravest, strongest, most beautiful caring girl in the world and she didn't want to hurt your feelings!" Viktor looked off. "I still can't wrap my head around it… A fucking note." Viktor looked to his father quickly. The man wasn't one to cuss so when he did you knew he was angry.
"She shouldn't lie to me-."
"She didn't want to hurt your feelings! I swear if it had been anything else she probably wouldn't have…" He shook his head. "I can't even look at you right now… You're going to fix this Viktor." He said with a point. "You're going to get that girl to take you back if it's the last thing you do." He stormed out and slammed the door as he did. Ivan came to a stop spotting Dag with his medical bag walking down the hall. "Does Viktor's hand need more tending to?" He asked smoothing out his hair.
"No, Mother brought Hermione back. Her arm was badly broken last night somehow, and it's not healing." Ivan slowly nodded as he watched his son disappear into Hermione's room before he turned and stormed back into Viktors. He walked over to his sons' desk and picked up the Gragen leaves.
"Hermione's arm was broken last night on top of it all seeing as you won't use what she risked her life for she should." With that he stormed out. Viktor quickly followed.
"Is Hermione here?" He asked.
"That is one bad break…" Dag said looking over her arm as she sat on the edge of the bed.
"Just fix it quickly I'm not supposed to be here…" Hermione said.
"I already told you you're not going back to the apartment alone." Sophia said.
"I'm not alone I have Dobby." Hermione said with a smile.
"You're staying here that's final." Sophia said and Hermione slowly nodded. Dag magically viewed the bone.
"No wonder it's not mending you have two severe breaks… looks like you broke them at separate occasions as well. You didn't notice the first break?"
"No both was last night." Hermione said as the door opened. She took a deep breath watching Viktor follow his father into her room. She instantly adverted her eyes as Viktor looked to her.
"Then you broke it twice in one night from the calcification." Dag said looking to her.
"No I fell only once…" Hermione said quietly.
"This break isn't from a fall it's from a twisting motion…" Dag said and Viktors eyed widened.
"I… I grabbed her arm not knowing it was broken…" Viktor said his jaw clenching.
"That would explain this kind of break…" Dag said his jaw clenching as well. "You grabbed her so hard you fractured her arm…" He said looking to his brother for a long moment.
"The bone is already weak." Hermione said quickly. "I've broken this arm so many times it isn't even funny, it doesn't take much." She said seeing the livid look in Ivans eyes as he turned to Viktor.
"You laid your hands on her in anger?" Ivan asked.
"No, no again it breaks easily." Hermione said quickly and Viktor looked to her.
"I asked you a question Viktor." Ivan said. "Did you lay your hands on her in anger?"
"Ivan-."
"Yes." Viktor said before she could protest more.
"So that's the type of man I raised?" Ivan asked. "One who lays his hands on the woman he loves when he's angry. Grips onto the arm hard enough to break it?"
"Okay this sounds way worse than it is." Hermione said standing. "Really he didn't mean too, it's fine, it didn't even hurt."
"Did you realize he had broken your arm?" Sophia asked and Hermione looked around the room feeling quite backed into a corner. "Hermione did you know he had broken your arm the second time?"
"Sure… I mean… Yeah I know what it feels like when that bone snaps because again I say it happens all the time." Hermione said quickly. Viktors eyes widened as he looked her over.
"Why didn't you tell me?" He asked and she quickly looked to him with a soft expression.
"Because you were already so upset about me lying, I knew if I told you, you had broken my arm on top of the break I had, you would feel worse."
"So again you didn't tell me something?" Viktor asked and Hermione looked off feeling helpless.
"Don't pin this on her you're the one who broke her arm." Ivan said.
"It was already broken…" Hermione said as her hand set on her stomach which gave a wild turn. She felt incredibly ill in that moment and she knew it was because of the guilt she felt.
"She went into that forest for you! She got hurt for you! Then you break-."
"I got hurt because of me!" Hermione yelled standing. "It's not his fault! Sure yeah I broke my arm going into the forest to get him Gragen leaves for his hand but that isn't his fault either it's mine. It's my fault his hand his useless right now! I mended the fire bolt! It broke under him! He slammed into the ground so hard it shattered all the bones in his arm and hand because of me! Because I didn't mend the broom well enough! So don't get angry at him get angry with me! All of this." She motioned around the room. "Is my fault! So take it out on the person who caused the turmoil not the person who got run over by it!" Viktor stared at her for a long moment as she wiped an angry tear away. "Can… Can I just go back to Britain now?" she asked Sophia her voice breaking. "I can't be here anymore."
"No… I'm sorry darling but you need to stay here… With your family." Her jaw clenched.
"Then can Viktor leave?" Hermione asked and Viktor looked off before turning and storming out.
"We are not done!" Ivan yelled following him out.
"Why is he so angry with him?" Hermione asked.
"He broke your arm Hermione…" Dag said.
"The bone is weak."
"It doesn't matter he still grabbed you hard enough to snap it…" Dag said.
"He didn't do it on purpose."
"It doesn't matter Krum men don't hurt women… He hurt you."
"I'm not the average woman though…" Hermione said and Sophia shook her head as she looked over Hermione. The girl was so tough she didn't realize the injustice that had been done. "He didn't mean too…"
"Come on and sit I need to fix that arm…" Dag said and Hermione nodded as she slowly sat down.

Viktor stared forward at the dinner table. The room was silent but deafening. With forks and knives scraping against fine china plates. He looked to his brother Stony to see he was glaring into him. It seemed news of his and Hermione's fight resulting in her twice broken arm had reached all ears of the family. Viktor slowly looked to the chair next to him which Hermione usually occupied to see it was empty. She hadn't come down to dinner and no one asked why, still he wanted to know.
"Where's-."
"Dag gave her a pain tonic she's sleeping it off." Ivan said cutting off his son. Viktor stared down at his untouched food.
"I should see to her-."
"Why?" Ivank asked. "So you can break her other arm?" Viktors jaw clenched as he stared at his older brother.
"You're just loving this aren't you?" Viktor asked.
"Loving that you broke your fiancés arm? No. See, I don't wish harm upon Hermione…" Viktor stood quickly his chair flying out from behind him.
"What are you going to do? Break my arm as well?" Ivank asked.
"Ivank…" Ivan said. "Enough… Viktor sit down." Viktors jaw clenched. "I said sit." Viktor grabbed his chair and slowly took a seat.
-o-
Hermione took a deep breath as she sat up in bed. Her hand instantly went to her arm which was throbbing. It wasn't the part which was broken though. It was her bicep. She took a shaking breath. She felt ill. Hermione reached over and flipped on her light to see the room was spinning slightly. She took a deep breath and got out of bed before falling down to the ground bile flying from her mouth. She waved her wand casting the vomit away before she slowly pulled herself to her feet and very carefully made her way to the bathroom. She looked over her reflection which was doubled to see she had gone grey.
It's a blood moon tonight… I forgot to take my potion… It's going to be a long night…
Hermione took a shaking breath as she felt a wave of nausea come over herself. She forwards her cheek smacking against the counter as she fell to the ground. She stared at the marble floor as tunnel vision began to start. This was the worst reaction she had, had since her first moon after the scratches from the werewolf Lupin. Her head was pounding. Her heart was racing. Her stomach was turning. She could hardly think the pain in her arm and back was so intense it made her want to scream at the top of her lungs.
No… No the full moon isn't until next week… something… smething… else… is wrong… I… I need help… She thought.
"I n… I need hep... Help… " She whispered as a sharp pain hit her chest.
-o-
Viktor slowly perked up at the dining room table. He wasn't sure why but he felt as though he needed to be somewhere else. He slowly stood ignoring the looks he got as he placed his napkin on the table and started to walk away.
"Where are you going?" Ivan asked.
"To my room… I'm not hungry." He muttered leaving the dining room table.
He apperated to his floor as he shook his head. He didn't feel right he felt as though something was wrong. All he wanted to do was go to his room and lie down, maybe try and sleep. As he passed by Hermione's door he took a deep breath his skin giving a ripple as he did. He looked to her door and slowly walked to it his hand reaching out and taking a hold of the door handle without his permission. He slowly opened the door and looked to her bed to see it was empty. Before he was about to leave his eyes caught sight of a foot sticking out of her bathroom.
"Mina…" he rushed forward and stopped at the door of the bathroom to see a grey looking Hermione laying on the floor of her bathroom her cheek busted open blood on the counter. "Mina…" he pulled his sling off and tossed it aside as he picked her up quickly. As he carried her his head went to her chest and he froze hearing her heart beat severely slow. Dag and Ivan came running into the room and stopped. They stared at a knocked out Hermione who lay in Viktors arms her cheek busted open.
"You're beating her now!?" Ivan bellowed.
"No I think she fell I found her in the bathroom…" Viktor said. "Dag there's something wrong with her."
"I know the charm I put on her room went off and alerted me." Ivan went to the bathroom to see blood on the counter and floor. It seemed she had fallen and smacked her cheek against the counter. Dag looked over Hermione and pushed her sleeve up. Her break looked fine, his eyes widened as he caught sight of one of her veins which was swollen and standing out angry and purple. "We need to get her to the hospital, I can't handle this on my own." Dag said.
"What's wrong with her?" Viktor asked as Dag took her from him. "Dag what's-." he disappeared from sight and Viktor looked to his father wide eyed.
"Go I'll tell your mother." When Viktor got to the Hospital he looked to see his brother running Hermione into one of the room. He ran after her but before he could go in the door slammed in his face. He watched through a window as Dag set Hermione down on a gurney before a mediwitch pulled the blinds down. The second Hermione was out of his sight his hand flew to the glass trying to almost reach through and touch her. The door opened and Viktor turned to see Dag coming out.
"They're taking over from me, I'm a healer not a surgeon." Dag said as the door closed.
"What the hell is going on Dag?" Viktor asked.
"A piece of bone has broken off of the second break, it was slowly going through her veins cutting them open, there's some eternal bleeding in her arm, anyways they need to physically go in there and extract the piece of bone before it hits her heart."
"What happens if it hits her heart?" Viktor asked and Dag looked off. "Dag what happens if it-."
"She'll die Viktor." Dag said looking to him. "She'll be dead if it hits her heart." Viktor took a shaky breath as he took a big step back. In that second their fight didn't matter, the lies didn't matter, all that mattered was he could lose Hermione. Lose her without ever telling he was sorry, and none of it was her fault.
