A Different Journey
Disclaimer: I do not own One Piece or Fairy Tail
We'll be beginning the war here. This is going to switch around to a few different people, but mainly at the beginning. And then at the end. Anyway there may be some emotional distress, but it will go away. I will make it better.
Chapter 37: War
Ace was watching it all. He couldn't do anything to stop this, chained down to this platform he watched as Little Oars Jr. finally collapsed, his body crushing the barrier between the ice field and plaza. His blood smearing the ground, and one leg had also been removed because of that damn flamingo.
Why? Why couldn't they just let him die? He deserved it, everyone now knew as well who he was the son of. He had this cursed blood in his body. He should just die, that would be the best thing to do. But despite now knowing this…they didn't give up on him. They had sworn they would defeat the Marines and save him.
He could see Sabo and Thatch fighting together down below, taking down everything that got in their way. They were back to back, and completely in tune with each other. Just as they should be. Marco was staying close to Pops for now, just in case the marines tried something again. Jozu and Vista were muscling through everything. Their allies were attacking with full force.
And then they were calling him, all of them shouting his name. He cringed and bit his own tongue. Before any more of them got hurt, he wanted them to leave him to die. But he knew he would be spitting in all their faces. For some reason they loved him, accepted him. The son of the devil.
And he felt…happy knowing how much they loved him. Sabo had always known, and Pops he had told before Sabo and he became division commanders. And of course, Lucy had known because Sabo had told her when they were young. Despite Ace not wanting anybody to talk about it. Lucy of course had asked about it almost constantly for a day, his hand had hurt especially that day with how much he hit her.
He smiled at the memory. It felt so close and warm, to just go back to that time.
But then another bomb went off and he was struck with reality. Lucy had invaded Impel Down. She may have been locked up for him. She may be in hell at this very moment. Sabo needed to be there, because Ace couldn't be. Sabo needed to go and save their little sister.
"Ah, what the?" Garp said confusedly and was looking up when Ace turned to look at the man he had called Gramps. Ace turned his head to the sky as well and saw a battleship falling from the sky, and people were falling out of it as well. And most of the people were in black and white stripes. Prisoners? He looked more carefully and his eyes popped out of their skull.
Lucy was calmly floating down from the sky, others plummeting around her. She was here? She looked straight at him, her hair flying around in a crazy manner, and smiled. "Ace!" Lucy called and he heard Garp choke a bit on his own spit.
The ship that had been falling crashed into the opening of the ice that Jozu had torn open, making it a much safer landing than it could've been, thought the ship still broke in half upon impact. "Lucy," Ace whispered wide eyed as she landed on the hull of the busted ship. His hat on her head. Jimbei, Crocodile, and Ivankov all surrounding her, as well as a few he didn't recognize. And behind her was an army of prisoners.
Sabo ducked under a sword strike and beat them back with his pipe, and then rolled out of the way of another strike, Thatch deflecting the man and taking the attacker down. Thatch offered him his hand, and Sabo took it. And they continued to fight back to back once more.
Oars had just dropped, and he felt the pain in his chest as he saw his friend's body broken over the ridge to the plaza, the Shichibukai had done a number on him. Those involved being Kuma, Crocodile, and Moria. He would get to them later, after he saved his brother.
He threw himself into his attack a little too much the next time, and extended too far, leaving his side open. But Thatch was there to save him, again. "Don't think too much, Sabo. You'll get distracted," Thatch reminded him and Sabo nodded. He knew that, but he felt so desperate now. Even when they were backed by so many people, he couldn't and wouldn't feel better till Ace was fighting with them. Out of those shackles and kicking ass with them.
But that meant he needed to redouble his efforts. In the blink of an eye Sabo disappeared and reappeared behind his opponents, one after another he took them down. Driving his pipe into the sides, stomachs, legs, and faces of any marine that came close to him. He came back to Thatch, taking down the guy who was trying to attack him from behind. "We need to hurry and save Ace," Sabo said and Thatch nodded, but caught him by his arm.
"Don't use too much of your devil fruit abilities, you'll tire yourself out and be of no use to anybody but the Marines," Thatch reminded him and Sabo sheepishly ruffled the back of his own head. He had forgotten and had just gone for it. It was so much easier doing it this way. And none of them were really on common ground with a big war like this.
"Look!" A member of the marines yelled and pointed up, and Sabo noticed a large shadow fall over the area and looked up. A battleship was falling from the sky, and people as well. A lot of people were falling from the sky and ship. Headed towards the ice.
"Ace!" Sabo heard someone from the ship yell and his eyes widened. He knew that voice. She was alright.
"Lucy," Sabo said as he looked up, the sun around some of the people blinding him. He couldn't pick her out. But she was here. She wasn't dead. Kuma hadn't taken her away from him for good. Sabo breathed out a sigh of relief, one of his sibling was alright and here. Wait…she was here. His eyes bugged and he panicked. "What the hell are you doing here, Lucy?"
"Lucy? You're little sister is here?" Thatch asked and cut down another attacker, without looking too. Sabo smirked at how skilled his boyfriend was. But now he looked like a mess as Sabo looked him over, Thatch running his hand over his pompadour. "This wasn't how I was supposed to meet your little sister! I was going to make dinner for us all, and then I would explain how I loved you and she shouldn't cut my hair off!"
Sabo didn't know how to deal with his boyfriend's reaction. It was cute how he had this planned, but worrying that it ended with his pompadour. Then again he had had that hairstyle forever. Perhaps it was emotional for him now. "Anyway, we need to get to her." Sabo said, looking at his sister as she stood at the head of a large and notorious group of pirates and revolutionaries. Her face set and determined.
If he weren't so worried he would be proud of her.
"AH! Crocodile's headed for Pops!" Someone yelled and they stopped as they watched the man race in his sand form for their Pops. Only to be stopped.
"Claw of the Celestial Water Dragon!" Lucy yelled as she appeared in front of Crocodile before he could take a large man out. Her water wrapped fist collided with Crocodile, and sent him reeling onto his back. His cigar flying from his mouth and landing with a grunt.
"Heartfilia! Why are you stopping me? I honored my vow to get you here. Stay out of this fight between Whitebeard and me," Crocodile growled as he got up and hunched over, ready to attack again. She roared though, making him stop. Her water leaking out as a warning, and then pirates surrounded him. She huffed and faced away from the man. Looking over her shoulder she answered him.
"So this is Whitebeard? I thought so. My brothers like this man, see him as their father. As their little sister I won't let you hurt this man," Lucy said and stepped away from the man. From the top of the large ship she had just appeared on she watched over the war. Raging and rough, like the worst storm she had seen. She felt eyes on her and looked up to see Whitebeard looking down at her. He had a calculating look in his eyes. "What?"
"What do you think you're doing here, Heartfilia? You aren't needed, nor will you be any help. Not at your level. Just get out of here," Whitebeard told her. She bawled her fists and gritted her teeth. She smelt her brother appear behind her, along with two other smells. She looked up and glared at the old man, a snarl tearing past her lips.
"Don't talk like you can give me orders, old man. I'm the future Pirate Queen, I'll do as I please. And whether I'm help or not is not for you to decide. I'm going to save my big brother, your ideas of my usefulness be damned," Lucy growled at him, standing tall as she looked him straight in the eye. She was not afraid of this man. She would not tolerate his treatment of her either.
She heard those behind her, and those within earshot scream and yell for her to shut up. She didn't care. Whitebeard slammed his weapon down beside him, glaring down at her. And then he huffed a laugh, and stuck his weapon into the wood. He grinned down at her and shook his head. "You're a cheeky one, spoilt brat. Do as you please. But if you can't keep you will be crushed."
"I'm here to save Ace, that's my only goal," Lucy said and faced forward. Her eyes stuck on her brother. "Ace! I'm coming to save you, so you better not be mad with me after this!" She smiled brightly, tilting his hat that was on her head. But turned and faced her brother, who was flanked by two men. One was Thatch, she could tell by the hair, and another was someone she had never met before. He wore an open purple shirt which showed off his tattoo, and cropped pants, a belt, and sandals that wrapped around his ankles.
She was engulfed in a hug. Sabo held her close and she wrapped her arms around him as well. "Lucy! I'm so glad you're safe. The papers said you were taken down by Kuma," Sabo pulled away and grasped her shoulders, looking panicked as he looked her over. She was slightly battered, she would admit. She laughed and placed her hands over his.
"Ah, I was beaten. And then I learnt about Ace, so I headed to Impel Down to break him out. I wasn't fast enough though, so I came here. Like I was going to stay away," Lucy said and her brother's jaw hit the floor as well as the two's behind him. "I brought a small army from Impel Down. I broke out as many men as I could. Didn't know if you needed the man power."
"Lucy…only you would think of something like that," Sabo said and chuckled, pulling her close and ruffling her hair. She pushed away and began to fix it. The other two laughed with her brother at her reaction, and she could feel the air vibrate with Whitebeard's amusement. She turned to the man with the pompadour and approached. He was nervous. She giggled at this, and a roar of men called to her as being cuter than something. Causing Sabo to react violently.
"Don't be nervous, Thatch," Lucy said and stuck her hand out, which he took with sweaty palms. "I'm Heatfilia Lucy, or Monkey D. Lucy .It's a pleasure to meet you." Lucy said and then curtsied and then stood and winked at the man. "Thanks for dealing with my brother here. I know he can be a pain."
"Oi, Lucy!" Sabo called out in embarrassment, but Thatch seemed to relax and bow.
"Ah, it's a pleasure to meet my boyfriend's little sister, finally," Thatch said and grinned. "Oh, and this is Marco, you've spoken to him before." Thatch was grinning madly now, and she looked at him funny. But turned her attention to the man who was looking even more nervous than Thatch, and his face was red too. He was stuttering and was trying to bow, but stumbled a bit. Thatch was laughing madly.
She approached the stumbling man and placed a hand on his shoulder. "Are you alright?" She asked, concerned that he may have been hurt. But he just looked at her, and his fate went even redder.
"I-I'm f-fine, Heartfilia-san, yoi," he said and she raised an eyebrow at this, and looked over at the others to see Whitebeard and Thatch muffling their laughter, and Sabo glaring at Marco. She glared back at Sabo.
"Lucy's is fine, Marco. It's a pleasure to meet you at last as well. The way you end your sentences is even more adorable in person," Lucy commented and smiled at the man. Thatch laughed loudly behind them at this point, and she could hear him dropping to his knees as he laughed.
"Ah…adorable? Please Lucy-san…I'm a grown man. But," she watched as Marco gulped and bowed lowly to her. "It's a pleasure to finally meet you as well." She nodded her head and agreed and then turned back to Whitebeard and grew serious.
"Old man, they're going to ignore the execution time for Ace…they have some plan. We don't have as much time as we think. They'll make sure that they execute him, even if it isn't honorable," Lucy hissed and those around her cursed. "The ship I came in received the order. Since you want to save Ace and Sabo's here, I thought I'd tell you."
"I see, that is some important news. Sorry about before," Whitebeard said and grinned down at her.
"Don't worry about it, not like I listen anyway. Never have, right Sabo?" Lucy responded as her brothers and the others gaped. "What's wrong with all of you?" They shook their heads and shrugged. Whatever. She didn't have time for this. A shimmer appeared beside her and she turned to see Loke standing there. Those besides Sabo were shocked at his appearance. Loke took her hand and kissed it.
"My Princess, everything is ready when you are," He told her and then looked her up and down. Hearts coming to his eyes. "But may I say you look wonderful." She looked down at herself and shrieked, trying to cover herself. She turned to her brother.
"Why didn't you tell me?!" She yelled at him and he blushed and turned away, the others did as well. Her outfit was torn and burned in so many places it was barely covering anything. No wonder the guys on the ship were more obsessed with her than the usual crowd. And why hadn't Jimbei said anything. She groaned and changed with her requip.
She changed to black pants, tucked into black, knee high, heeled boots, a white bikini top, and her captain's jacket. Her belt, keys, sword, gauntlets, and other accessories staying. Ace's hat still on her head. She hummed to herself and nodded her head. Now she wouldn't have to worry about flashing anyone while fighting. Not that the soldiers would mind though. Shaking her head to get rid of the thought, and faced forward towards Ace.
"Alright. Ace! I'm coming to save you now!" She yelled and jumped from the ship, noticing that Jimbei, Ivankov and the other transvestites from Impel Down all charged into battle with her.
"Lucy!" Sabo yelled for her, but she continued on her way. She took on the forces of the marines directly. She swerved under a sword and grabbed the man who had tried it, and then threw him into his approaching nakama. She opened her mouth and let loose a large roar of white fire, and then charged on. Lucy kept her eyes forward, but her other senses were always looking out for those around her.
Lucy tore her claws through swords and guns, constantly moving. Never faltering in her steps. She had to keep moving forward. She jumped on her hands and spun her legs out around her, twirling on her hands, and kicking all the marines that approached her. Her legs had become white iron which knocked the marines around easily. She then jumped onto her feet again and charged forward.
More marines came at her though when her plans began to come together. A large axe knocked into the marines heading for her. "No one will touch Lucy-san's nice body!" Taurus yelled, his bell ringing and she laughed and shook her head. All around the battle field her spirits were popping up to help in battle. All claiming to be her warriors. She smiled and pressed on, Taurus staying behind on the ice.
She made it closer to the wall, but this time shadows began to appear before her. "Dragon Princess! I'll take your shadow this time! And Oars's descendant is right here for me to stuff your shadow into!" Moria yelled as his own shadow stepped off the ground and his zombies came after her. A wave of water knocked into them and Jimbei appeared by her side.
"Lucy-san, leave the zombies to me. Their weakness is salt, easy enough for someone who can manipulate the sea," Jimbei said and she nodded her head, leaving all up to him. She charged past Moria, kicking him over in the head as she passed. The action sent his skull crashing to the ground, and he gave out a pained yell as his head connected. She smirked at that. It felt good to kick him. She hoped she wasn't developing a sadistic side.
She didn't have time to contemplate as another horde of marines came at her. She swept all their feet out from under them with her whip, and then caught one of their legs and swung them around to knock into more of the marines. She let the man go, and he crashed into a large man. She cringed at the impact, but also smiled.
"Lucy! Get out of here! You have no reason to be here! Besides a weakling like you could never save me! Leave, go back to sea!" Ace yelled at her, and she stopped and looked at him after she took out another man. An annoyed vein popped on her head and she glared at Ace.
"What's that? No reason! I have more reason than most, Ace! I'm your little sister, and you're my dumb big brother! Like hell I'm going back out to sea when you're like this," Lucy yelled back, baring her teeth and kicking another marine in the head. That one was with enough force to send him hurtling into his nakama and send them all into the stone wall. Crushing it and opening a hole into the plaza. She was irritated at Ace, the insufferable oaf.
Her words took the marines by surprise though, knowing she couldn't be related to Ace because his parents were dead. So, they knew about Ace's lineage? He wasn't happy about that, no doubt about it.
"Take her out!" Sengoku yelled and a large giant came before Lucy, swinging a bat down at her. She jumped out of the way and jumped into the air. "She grew up with Ace and Sabo as their sworn little sister. She is just as much of a threat to this world as Ace though." Lucy opened her mouth and blasted the giant with a lightning roar. "She is the biological daughter of The Revolutionary Dragon. She is really Monkey D. Lucy!"
Lucy landed on the giant's head as the area went deadly quiet, and then she roared, loud and up to the sky. Her draconic nature coming out, and she smirked. But then it dropped from her face as she used an iron roar to knock down the marines before her that were too shocked to act. She began to charge forward, and they met her. More intent to kill her than before.
She looked at Ace again as they surrounded her. "Ace! I don't care about what you want! I want to save you! And I'll do it, even if it kills me!" She brought her hands out around her and a large dragon of white fire surrounded her, and swept its tail all around. She used her lightning to fry those around her. She heard her brother's nakama agreeing with her, supporting her.
"Show us you can save him, Dragon Princess!"
"Only his little sister could say that!"
"Go, Dragon Princess!"
She would save her brother, no matter what.
Sabo was gaping. "I never knew!" Sabo yelled as he laughed. Of course his two siblings would be insane like that. Shaking his head he was about to go to his sister's side when Pops stopped him. "What is it?" Sabo asked and tilted his head. The old man was grinning. It seemed like he had taken a liking to Lucy already. She seemed to make people like her easily.
"Marco, you go and make sure she doesn't die," Whitebeard said and Sabo gaped. He was sending the stalker? He was about to protest, but Whitebeard stopped him with a look. Thatch patted him on the back, and they went back to their own fights below. Pushing towards Ace. He watched jealously though as Marco flew towards Lucy and landed next to her.
If that perverted stalker tried anything…Sabo would kill him. A new war would start, and Ace was within range as well to fight with him. After they saved him of course.
Lucy had made it a good distance when someone landed next to her. She looked over her shoulder to see Marco had landed on a Marine. "Thanks," Lucy said and smiled, and then jumped over him to take out the guy going for him. He smiled a small smile at her and nodded his head. She ran ahead once more, taking down marines as she went. And she smelt Smoker as he came for her. She grabbed his jute before it could connect with her head, and smiled. "Hello Smokey," Lucy said and smiled at him. "Seems you've gotten stronger."
"I finally understand now," Smoker ground out as he tried to press his jute down onto her, trying to make her fall. But she pressed back with even more strength, throwing him off of her.
"You do now?" She said and flipped her hair over her shoulder. She glared at him and pointed her finger at him. "You don't know anything about my family and our issues. The very idea that I'm an even bigger threat based on who my father is, is archaic. And a weak reason to kill someone. But then again…the government and marines have done worse for even weaker reasons."
"Shut up!" Smoker yelled and charged her again, but she disarmed him and came at him with his own weapon. Swinging it down and onto his shoulder, bringing him to the ground.
"I'm right, some part of you agrees with me. If that part didn't exist you wouldn't react so violently," Lucy said and swung the jute back and into his side. He came back at her, turning to smoke and trying to contain her. She used his own weapon against him though, and before his attacks could connect, would beat him back.
"Heartfilia!" Smoker's female subordinate that hated Zoro, for some reason, came swinging at her. But she caught the sword and kicked the woman away. While she had her back turned Smoker pinned her, straddling her back.
"I've got you now," he said confidentially, but she looked at him and smirked. Disappearing into lightning, escaping his hold on her. He was about to try again when someone kicked him and sent him flying. It was Hancock. Sneering and glaring down at the marine. "Boa Hancock, do you intend to resign as well?!"
"Shut up!" Hancock yelled and Lucy was impressed by the fierceness in her tone. Marco came up behind her, and she smiled at him. He looked very confused. "How dare you straddle my best friend?! I'm so angry, that you actually thought you could do that! I will kill you!"
"Thanks, Hancock!" Lucy yelled and smiled to the woman who nodded her head. Salome came up to Hancock, but not before slithering by Lucy and getting pet on the head. But when it had passed it dropped something into her hand. She looked down at the key in her hand. She looked up and Hancock was smiling at her, nodding her head. Lucy thanked the woman once more and ran forward. Marco followed after her.
"What was that, yoi?" He asked her, running alongside her and she held up the key.
"Hancock is my friend. She helped me get here. She also got us the key to Ace's handcuffs," Lucy said and smiled. Marco was astounded with this news and smiled, laughing a bit as they took out the marines that were in front of them. Lucy placed the key in the secure pocket on her belt. It going in besides the vivre cards she had in there. As she looks up she comes to see someone else in front of them.
"Crap, Mihawk," Marco cursed and she smiled.
"No, it's fine. Mihawk is a friend as well," Lucy said and charged forward to the man. He was grinning at her, his sword at the ready. But he stood wider than normal, and nodded his head. He was leaving himself open for her to get by. She leapt for him, looking like she was going to attack. She hung herself around his neck and quickly kissed his cheek. "Thanks, Hawky." She quickly let go and jumped over him, Marco following. She looked behind just in time to see the swordsman of the Whitebeard Pirates begin to fight with him.
"How many other Shichibukai do you know?" Marco asked, a look of disbelief on his face.
"Hancock and Mihawk are my only friends out of all of them. I took down Moria about two weeks ago, and Kuma I met is Sabaody. I don't know the feathered one though," Lucy said looking at Ivankov who was fighting the man and Kuma. "But Kuma seems different now. He smells different than when I met him."
"What do you mean?" Marco asked as he kicked a marine, getting him out of the way.
"He doesn't smell as human…wait," She stopped and looked back towards the ships, Marco skidding to a stop beside her. "Go back, hurry! Pacifista are going to attack you allies soon. They look like Kuma, but are just machines! They have Kizaru's light attacks!"
"What?" Marco asked and looked back, then to her, and nodded his head. "Pops wanted me to protect you, but I should report this." Marco transformed into a phoenix and she gaped. That was…so cool. She got herself together in time for her to dodge an attack from behind and then use her whip to knock all the marines around her off their feet.
Lucy was in the middle of a fight when they all began to retreat off the ice. She narrowed her eyes at this. They were planning something. "Ace," she murmured and looked up to his platform. She could feel the pressure increasing, and hurried even more. But a ball of light formed in front of her and she was kicked back. Kizaru was before her once again. She was caught by Jimbei, and placed on her feet. "Thanks."
"He's just one tough opponent, but we can't stop now, Lucy-san," Jimbei said and she nodded her head. She and Jimbei were about to advance when a gun shot rang out. She turned to see her brother and other Whitebeard Pirates with him. They all seemed strong.
"Lucy, let's use their retreat to advance," Sabo told her and she nodded her head.
"Ah, the commanders, that'll make things easier," Jimbei commented and she looked them all over. How many commanders were there? But they all were strong, she could tell that. She was surrounded by them all, and backed by Jimbei still, and then they charged forward as one large unit. They continued after the retreating marines when Lucy got a whiff of something and whirled around to look at Whitebeard. The others were calling out for her.
"Second Origin, Release!" Lucy cried and in an instead she was in front of Whitebeard, defending him from the attack his ally was about to release on him. She caught the large sword in her gauntlets. The man, whom ever he was, was staring back shocked. She heard Whitebeard's men yelling, but she focused on stopping the attack. Thankfully in this form, she didn't have to worry about someone overpowering her often.
"Squardo…what are you doing? Why?" Whitebeard asked, just as shocked as everyone else. Squardo began to talk about Whitebeard only caring about hit Whitebeard children. Whitebeard was selling his allies out to save Ace, Whitebeard had made a pact with the marines. Akainu had told him this. Whitebeard didn't get angry though and waited till the man was done. He came around Lucy and took the sword from the man's hands, and brought him into a hug. Reminding Squardo that he too was one of Whitebeard's children, and that this was all a marine plot. He forgave Squardo for falling for their ploy. He dropped the man and turned to Lucy, "You're fast and strong. How did you know?"
"I could smell the hostility directed at you. I knew I couldn't let anything happen to you," Lucy said and brushed it off, dropping the sword end she was holding, it clattering to the ground. "And you're complimenting me now? Well, how different from you yelling at me when I first got here."
"Brat," Whitebeard said and smashed his fists into the air around him, cracks appearing there. And the large walls of ice around the area all fell to pieces. She was astounded by his strength and then watched as he jumped from his ship. All calling out to follow him to the end of the line.
The Strongest Man in the World was on the move.
Lucy smirked and looked at the man who was crying over his mistake and approached him. Laying a hand on his shoulder. "Don't cry, you made a mistake. But it isn't one that can't be unworked. Make it up to him, and fight," Lucy said and handed him his sword, and the man wiped his eyes and nodded. He too following Whitebeard into battle.
Lucy used her form to speed ahead back to Sabo and the others. They all clapped her on the back and thanked her, and she brushed them off. Reminding them she did it for her brothers only. And that this wasn't the time to be caught up in things like thanks. Ace was still in danger. She heard something moving beneath the surface of the ice, and told them as such. That coupled with their retreat made her very nervous. Till finally all retreated to the plaza.
One of the giants appeared, jumping onto the ice and swinging his sword. Most retreated out of the way, and she watched as Whitebeard took down the man easily. Gripping the air and pulling. The ground began to tilt, and Sabo steadied her as much as she could. She looked out to sea to see the Sea being tilt as well as the land.
Everything was going crazy and she sped away from all the holes that opened in the ground. And someone was laughing. Who was laughing at a time like this? She looked and saw the pink coated Shichibukai laughing and shook her head. It seemed like Sabo and the others were used to this and knew where to go and be. She looked at the destruction as everything settled, his power was amazing. His next attack was meant to go to the platform, but the three admirals were able to make it veer off course.
The Whitebeard Pirates were on the move again.
Lucy and the others were running forward again when a massive wall was place between them and the plaza. Locking them out. It surrounded the entire bay, surrounding them. Lucy placed her hand on the wall, and could feel the dense steel beneath her hand. The cannons were being pointed at them. But the place where Oar's body was, was still open.
She smelt the heat begin to swelter in the air, and it flew into the air. Like burning fireworks were they launched, magma was launched. But soon enough…they would have to come back down. Lucy rationalized the separation principle. And large magma fists rained down. Lucy jumped into the sky to face them, and opened her mouth. And used the air currents to direct them all toward her. She began to devour all the magma before it could touch any of the pirates below.
She couldn't combine the two yet. But by isolating the earth and metal in the magma from the fire, she could devour it, and fuel the different magic in her body. Her body was now burning, hotter than ever. And her ice and water tried to cool her down as quickly as they could. Balancing her out.
At the same time she could tell the marines were trying to stop her. Shooting at her, but she was being protected by the other pirates. Her brother mostly. She continued to do this, but they just kept coming. And then the cannons began. The Pacifista began to fire at all the pirates at the same time. Whitebeard was trying to take down a wall, but failed. And then she couldn't stop all of them, there were just too many globs of magma, she was beginning to choke.
She dropped from the sky, and thankfully the magma stopped. And then the execution was announced to take place immediately. She had tears in her eyes from nearly choking. Everyone began to freak out over the execution. But she had to keep moving. She pushed Sabo off of her, and roared. She ran for Ace, her speed increasing as she burst past their cannons. She had to get to him. She had to. She couldn't stop.
Her brother would not be allowed to die. "ACE!" Lucy cried and charged forward. She opened her mouth and let loose and lightning roar, tearing into all the cannons on the walls. She then used all her strength to tear through the wall. She beat her fist into it again and again, till one crumbled. Her body was boiling over, and she slammed her fist into the ground of the plaza. And everything shook and crumbled. All the walls fell apart.
She burst forward, past the wall, and most of the marines. Till she was before all the admiral. Her body was releasing magical heat in waves. She looked up and glared at all of them, her eyes slitted and scales becoming more defined. She was on all fours before them. Her form was already decorated in the magical lines that wrapped all around her body, so she knew she must've looked like some creature of hell.
"Oh my. You actually made it here, but you're not ready for this stage yet," Aokiji said, nodding his head in respect to her.
"Quite and entrance, daughter of Dragon. If nothing else, I praise your tenacity," Akainu said, looking down at her with pure animosity.
"This youngster sure is scary, but there's no way you can beat us, you know?" Kizaru said in that slow way of his.
All eyes were on her now. And she stood up from her place on the ground and jumped into the air. "Roar of the Celestial Water Dragon!" A large burst of water came from her mouth, directed at the admirals, drenching them all in steaming hot water. The land was also covered and she placed her hands on the ground. "Current of the Celestial Lightning Dragon!" The water she placed her hands in sparked, and all those standing in it, besides herself, were electrocuted.
She looked up to Ace, his form covered in bruises and scratches. He looked pleadingly at her. For her to run, to get away from this place. She snarled at the admirals who stood before her. Weaker from the water she had doused them in. "Give Ace back!"
She heard the pirates behind her cheer at her cry, and the plaza was finally breached by all of them. She burst past the admirals, headed for Ace. And swerved out of the way before Kizaru could kick her. She knew she would never be as fast as him. He was light, and there was nothing faster than that. She didn't have that power yet either. She landed on the ground, surrounded.
And the order was given. The executioners' blades began to come down. She screamed for him, along with everyone else. But someone was able to stop the execution. Large blades of sand cutting them down before they could get to Ace. Crocodile had saved Ace. "I'll eliminate the dying old man later," Crocodile said, as nonchalant as ever. "But right now, I don't want to see them enjoying victory." Crocodile's head was taken off in an instant. The pink coated one had done it. She had seen some type of movement around his neck.
What was his power?
Crocodile reformed, and they began to fight.
She didn't have time to watch. More marines came for her, and she began to run for Ace again. "Get out of my way!" She slammed her fist into some marine with Tekkai, and then began to charge again. Aokiji got in her way this time, and was coming at her. She was ready, but Marco saved her. "Thanks, Marco!" She yelled and kissed him on the cheek before running off again. Him stuttering out that she didn't need to mention it as she left.
She felt Whitebeard's attack breach the area, everything quaking as he did as he pleased. "Everyone! Rescue Ace, and destroy the marines!" All of his forces cried out in unison with him, and Lucy continued to run for Ace.
She noticed something flying in her field of vision and looked up to see Marco flying high above her. Headed for Ace. She smiled, thinking and hoping he would make it. But someone knocked him down, and she moved and caught the man. She looked towards the platform again, Garp had knocked him down. Her, no their, grandpa had stopped Marco. "Why, Grandpa? Do you not care for Ace? Are the marines more important to you?" Lucy asked quietly to herself, and she growled and glared at her grandpa as he took a seat below the platform. Guarding it.
She resolved herself. Even if it was against her own grandpa, she would save Ace. She took off again, listening in the back of her mind to all that was going on. But not stopping to get involved. She needed to get to Ace.
Coby jumped in front of her, and she narrowed her eyes. If he stood in her way, then he was the enemy she needed to take down for Ace. She disappeared and grabbed his head, and slammed him into the ground. "Don't try that again, you aren't ready to fight me," She growled and then kept running. Taking down every marine that came near her. More Pacifistas came after her, but they were blocked by two people. Hancock and Mihawk. They were defending her so she wouldn't have to fight everything.
"Go Lucy!" They both yelled and she nodded her head and took off.
"Execute Ace, immediately!" Sengoku yells as Lucy fights her way through the crowd. She cried for them to stop. Getting punched as she lost focus, and then roaring down on the crowd surrounding her as she moved forward. Over and over she yelled for it to stop. But they wouldn't listen. The executioners raised their blades, ready to get it over with. And then swung down.
Something bubble up inside her, and she had to let it go. "Don't do it!" Lucy screamed, fully intent and pissed as hell. She everything seemed to happen in a frame by frame manner. She realized she had done the same this as from the water buffalo incident with Duval, but on a much larger scale. The executioners and marines all fell down, passing out left and right as she screamed. But she didn't have time to think. This was her chance.
All around her people were shocked to their core, stuck standing in shock.
"What was that?" Ivankov asked as he caught up to her. She looked at him.
"I don't know. I know I have this ability, but it seems to come out unconsciously," Lucy said and turned her head forward again. The marines seemed to take her even more seriously now, all charging for her all once. But a large shock wave stopped them. She looked to see Whitebeard defending her, his body was a wreck. But he was laughing. "You marines are so afraid of some kid? What happened to taking my head?" He asked and broke the air around him, destroying even more. He was drawing the attention away from her.
Lucy took her chance and charged on.
"MEN!" Whitebeard yelled, and drew the attention of everyone. "As of this moment, lend Dragon Princess Lucy all of your strength!" There was a moment of silence, and the Vice-Admirals all came charging at her. But they were blocked by Whitebeard's allies. And she was surrounded protectively by the other allies. They were all encouraging her, helping her reach Ace.
Sabo and Thatch were behind her, smiling at her and nodding their heads. "Dragon-girl, this is a big deal. The strongest Pirate in the World is placing all his hopes and wishes in you. You must not disappoint him." Ivankov told her and she looked at him.
"I don't know what he expects from me. All I know is that I'm going to save Ace, like I planned from the beginning," Lucy said and faced forward. She continued to run, and when faced with Mihawk once more, he turned his back to her and sliced the marines. She smiled at this as she passed him, he encouraging her to go forward. Next thing she knew Daz Bones, Crocodile's man, was protecting her on his Boss's orders as well. Crocodile was also defending her when more Vice-Admirals came at her. Hancock was also deflecting the Pacifista.
She got closer to the platform till she was within reach and jumped before anyone could react, and headed right for the platform.
"Go, Dragon-girl!"
"Get Ace, Ace's sister!"
"Lucy, get to him!"
Garp came for her. "Grandpa, don't make me do this!" Lucy shouted, pleasing with him not to make her fight him.
"Lucy, if you want to save Ace, then you'll have to defeat me! Dragon Princess Lucy!" Garp yelled, his fist at the ready to use on her. But when she readied herself she noticed something flash through his eyes. He didn't want to do this. He stopped trying. She was able to hit him and send him flying into a wall. And then she landed safely on the platform.
She moved quickly, grabbing the key from her pocket, and undoing Ace's cuffs and freeing him, just in time for them to escape before Sengoku could crush them as he became something. Lucy grabbed her brother and jumped from the platform, both of them headed back down to the ground, Ace's nakama waiting for them. When they landed they were both in forms of shock. But then Lucy began to cry.
"Ace!" Lucy shouted and launched herself at her brother, who caught her in his arms and laughed. She felt tears hit her head and she looked up to see him smiling down at her. A watery and happy smile. "I'm so glad I could save you. But…but now I can't stop crying, Ace-nii. But the funny thing is, when we were little you hated me crying and would always hit me. And now…you're crying too, and you're not hitting me for once."
"Idiot…how could I hit you now?" Ace asked her and clutched her tighter to him. "But I never thought the day would come, where you would save me, Lucy."
"It's all thanks to Whitebeard and his men, your nakama and captain," Lucy said, brushing it off.
They were both brought into a bigger hug by their final brother. Sabo had thrown himself into the hug, and Ace and she wrapped their arms around him as well. They disregarded the battle for just right now. Because this…this was perfect. She finally breathed out a sigh of relief. Her brothers were safe. She cried happily, her head caught between their chests.
She looked to Sabo to see him sobbing heavily, and laughed at his face. "Don't cry too much, Sabo-nii!" Lucy said and it only seemed to make him cry harder.
"But…but we're finally all together again!" Sabo cried out and held onto them both tighter, and she swore both Ace and she were choking. Once he had released them Lucy removed the hat on her head and placed it back of Ace's.
"All of you! Full retreat! We've got what we want!" Whitebeard yelled, and they all looked to the old man. He was bloodied and hurt, but he was smiling as he looked at the three of them. Sabo and Ace wiped their faces and she followed suit, and then they did what they did best. They fought. Together again for the first time in over eleven years. She smiled happily as they ran back to the ships. Her brothers covering for most of the attacks, but Lucy dealing some of the most damage. Every roar taking down large chunks of the marines. The marines are still set on killing Lucy, Ace, and Whitebeard though. The admirals coming for them directly. And Sengoku was also moving in on them.
But they were able to fight off everything. Side by side by side they were an invincible team of strength and skill. The Whitebeard pirates helped as well in forging the way past.
"You've gotten stronger, Lucy," Ace commented as they were running, and she turned wide eyed to him and gaped. She then giggled and smiled at him.
"I'm sure I'll surpass both of you soon enough as well," Lucy said and they both protested to this, making her laugh even more.
They were able to make it past Whitebeard though, who was covering all his children as they escaped. And when everyone had finished crossing towards the boats, Whitebeard did something no one expected. He shattered the earth behind him, making it impossible for the marines to pursue them any further.
"Listen closely, Whitebeard Pirates! The order I am about to give, will be my final Captain's order!" Whitebeard yelled, and all of his children, plus Lucy, stopped at his words.
"Pops!" The Whitebeard Pirates all yelled, trying to make their captain stop speaking in such ominous ways.
"You and I will be parting here! All of you, make sure you survive, and reunite with each other in the New World!" Whitebeard ordered, but no one moved. Someone asked if he planned to die here. And he responded with a strength and determination that Lucy rarely saw in others. "I am the one at the top of this era, there is no ship to carry me in the new era! Go, my men!" He destroyed the headquarters of the Marines in that moment.
Everyone was trying to protest, while others were trying their best to comply with his wishes. Whitebeard looked back at them all and smiled and said, "Don't turn back! The era is changing!" Most of the men left, heading back to the ships upon this, the commanders also coercing many. Sabo was trying to lead them as well, but Ace dropped to his knees and bowed his head. Something she didn't know Ace was capable of doing.
"There's no need for words," Whitebeard said, turning to look at Ace. "But just answer one thing for me. Ace. Was I a good father?"
"Of course you were!" Ace yelled, his head and form going even lowed to the ground as he shook with the sorrow of having to leave this man.
And then they turned and ran. Jimbei was with them, and so were Ivankov and the others. Lucy smelt something in the wind as they were running away. But had to dismiss it when Akainu said something about Whitebeard, insulting the man Ace considered his true father. And Ace stopped and then turned, burning mad. And she tried to stop him, along with Sabo and others, but it was no use. And the other commanders wanted to kill Akainu just as much as Ace, she could sense that.
"Don't make fun of the man who saved my life! This era's name is Whitebeard!" Ace yelled and attacked. Lucy charged back in to save Ace, running for him as quickly as she can. He was taken down by Akainu, magma being stronger than fire. But Lucy could no longer move. Her magic and physical abilities were at their limit. She looked to the side to see a large ship coming into the area. Shanks's flag flying and she smiled.
"Lucy!" Sabo yelled and she looked up in time to see Akainu coming for her. She tried to move. But her legs wouldn't cooperate. Her body fell from its high of Second Origin, and the limits were even worse. The pain coursing through her was immense. The backlash of using so much power, pushing herself too hard.
She was going to die. She couldn't dodge.
But she didn't die. She was protected.
Her eyes blew wide as Ace's form stood protectively over her, a magma fist through his chest. She couldn't move, just took in his form standing over her, ablaze with his desire to protect her. He coughed up blood, and the fist was withdrawn from his chest. "Ace!" Lucy cried as she caught him. Collapsing under his weight. The other commanders ran forward, intent on protecting them. Sabo ran to take on Akainu directly.
He was still breathing a bit. She held her brother close, looking at her hand though she came back with only his blood. "Ace, please god no," Lucy said, pleading with god to make this stop. To make this just an illusion. She heard someone calling for her, and another for Ace. But all she was really listening to was her brother's heartbeat.
"I'm sorry, Lucy," Ace said, his voice so quiet. "You did all this stupid stuff for me, but I still couldn't be saved. I'm so sorry."
A doctor ran over to try and help, but she knew there was no way for them to help him. "It's no use. He fired my insides. I can tell…my life is at an end."
"Ace!" Lucy yelled to the sky, his heart slowing even more with every second that passed. She didn't want this. She wanted to save him. More than anything she wanted to save her big brother.
"I probably wouldn't have ever wanted to live if I hadn't met Sabo and you, Lucy. Oh right, if you ever see Dadan, give her my regards. For some reason her name seems touching to me now. I only have one regret. That I couldn't live to see you fulfill your dreams. But I'm sure you can make it. You're my little sister. I've never regretted the way I live though. What I wanted was never fame or anything like that after all. All I ever wanted was for someone to answer if it was a good thing I was born or not. And you always gave me that answer, Lucy. Every time, you'd tell me that you were glad I was alive.
"I can't speak loud enough for everyone to hear. Please tell everyone later what I'm about to say. Pops, my nakama, Sabo, and you, Lucy…even though I'm so worthless, even though I carry the blood of a demon, thank you for loving me," Ace told her, crying and choking as he did. And then finally, he went still in her arms. His grip on her loosening, and he fell to the ground.
She caught him and laid him down though, just in time. She looked over his form, and cried over him. His body already going cold. She didn't want this. She wanted to save him. She wanted to save him, she wanted someone to save him. She wanted to live on with her brother. But she couldn't save him…not now.
She reached for him, but wasn't able to reach him. Not anymore. "Yes you can," a voice said, and something filled her. She looked up to see a man in front of her. He was tall and muscular. He had red hair and scales covering his body. She didn't know who he was. And then he unfurled his wings, and she could tell he had horns on his head. He was…a dragon like her. "Do you want to save him? Do you want him to return to you? Is that your wish?"
She answered without hesitating. "Of course I do…can you help?" She asked, cradling Ace's head in her lap.
"I can, but you will be the one to do it, Lucy," He said and crouched down next to her. He guided her hands. One to the wound on Ace's body, and then the other to her own heart. "Then wish for it, and I will give you that power. But only this once will I do this without need of payment."
And so she did, she wished with all her heart for him to be saved. For him to be healed. And her head was thrown back. And the words came. Her head was thrown back and she invoked something so powerful she couldn't stop it even if she wanted to. Magic circles filled the air and sky, and she opened her mouth and said the words.
"Testor Deum ascendit.
Qui tamen dici,
Nisi eum, sana quod tango.
Clamávero antiquam virtutem,
Redde.
Salvum me fac,
et reverti posse."
Some people tried to touch her at this point, reaching for her. She felt their fingers brush her skin, and then heard their agonized screams as they were flung far from her.
"Nam invitus,
nimirum.
Convertimini,
quod perdidimus!"
Lucy finished, and her arms went slack. And her will faded away, and she fell into the darkness that had been shrouding her vision.
Shanks watched as Lucy fell over, Jimbei catching her as she finished whatever she had done to Ace's body. No one was sure what to do. The circles of something ancient had filled the sky, and upon seeing it was Lucy Shanks had rushed over. Whitebeard had done the same, no one knew what she was doing, and Shanks didn't want her to kill herself with whatever she was doing.
But when Whitebeard and Shanks tried to touch Lucy, shake her out of her fix, her body had zapped them. Shanks had never felt something so painful before. His stump of a left arm was no pulsing in pain. And he couldn't do anything but remain on the ground. Whitebeard was no better off. Except he seemed to be in pain everywhere.
"Lucy," Shanks said and forced himself to his feet, Benn helping him stand. He walked over to Lucy, and looked down upon her. She was pale, and there was blood leaking from her mouth. But he brushed the hair from her face and trailed his fingers down her neck to her pulse. She was still alive. He was so grateful for that. "What did you do, Lucy?" He dropped to his knees and Sabo, Lucy's other brother screamed and called Ace.
Shanks looked to the boy's corpse, but it was no longer a corpse. His chest was reforming, and he was getting up. When he was fully up the hole in his chest was gone, and Shanks was staring at his back. "EH?! I thought I died!" Ace yelled and everyone else screamed. Ace turned around and saw Lucy, falling to his knees as he saw her state. "What did you do, idiot?"
"Lucy!" Loke the Lion called as he skidded down next to them, others coming up behind him to swarm Lucy. He looked panicked as he stared at her and then ordered those that had followed him to return hope so as to stop draining Lucy. All besides Loke disappeared in gold shimmering light. Loke reached down and laid a hand on Lucy's head, and Shanks narrowed his eyes at the act. Who did this weakling think he was, touching Lucy so unashamedly in front of him? Lucy was too precious for someone like him, even if this man was her subordinate, Shanks wouldn't stand for someone to caress her like that when she was injured. Shanks was about to slap his hand away when he felt something in his stub of an arm.
Shanks screamed as the pain in his arm continued, and shrugged his cloak off. And watched wide eyes as his arm began to reform. Bone and muscle and skin. All of it returning. Shanks turned his head to Whitebeard and saw the man's wounds were also being healed. No one knew what to do.
"She's barely breathing! She needs medical attention!" Jimbei yelled and looked around. Shanks panicked when he heard those words, his mind rushing for solutions to help Lucy in some way. They were still on a battlefield though. Who could treat her? They couldn't leave yet. Shanks took off his hat and placed it on Lucy's head. He kissed her on her forehead and nodded his head.
"Jimbei, get Lucy out of here!" Shanks cried and the fishmam nodded and got up, carrying Lucy carefully. Loke got up and raced after them as well, knocking down any marine who approached. Shanks watched as he left with her, wanting to go too and make sure she was alright. Sabo on the other hand was touching Ace, making sure he was really there.
Shanks had to end this now so they could get to Lucy quickly. He wouldn't be satisfied till he saw her now.
Jimbei was carrying Lucy as carefully as he could. He wasn't sure where to take her. They had to leave, and he had to get a doctor. But who? And where was he going to find one when he was so far away from land or doctors. All the pirates were fighting still.
"Bring Princess-ya this way, Sea Knight-ya!" A voice called out as Jimbei ran along the coast with Loke, Lucy's nakama. He turned to see a young man in a submarine calling out to him. The man and his crew were not part of any allied to Whitebeard or Red Hair. Who was he? "I can save her! I'm a doctor! Now hurry and let me take care of her!"
A doctor? He looked at the sign on their ship and recalled a bounty. Trafalgar Law, the Surgeon of Death. He wasn't just good at killing though, people said he could heal anyone. His abilities giving him more versatility as a doctor than most. But was he trust worthy? At this point it time did he have the ability to decline. Looking down at Lucy in his arms he knew he couldn't. This could be the only chance to save her.
"Alright!" Jimbei called and jumped over to the Submarine. Lucy was placed on a stretcher and led away. Jimbei was able to follow into the ship, but was made to remain outside the surgery room. The submarine went under, and they began to go away from the area. It was safer travelling this way also.
All he could do now was wait for Trafalgar Law to come out. Jimbei's foot tapped the ground as he waited. Loke next to him couldn't even sit and was incredibly impatient, pacing the hall. He thought over what Lucy had done. She had brought Ace back to life, had made it possible for Shanks to regrow his arm, and Whitebeard was healing when he left. They were all perfectly all right because of her.
But what price did this mean for her? Was there a price? He hoped to god there wasn't one. And if there was one, was she aware? And would she even care if it had been her life? Most likely not. She was a selfless, loving, and kind young woman. Her life was probably cheap to her if she could save her brother or someone else she loved.
"Lucy-san, please be alright," Jimbei prayed, bowing his head.
"Jimbei-san," a subordinate called to him, a first aid kit in hand. "If you wouldn't mind we'll take care of your wounds." Jimbei nodded his head, and the man came towards him and began to bandage him. But his head was constantly turned to the operation room. "Don't worry about Lucy-san, Captain will do everything to save her."
"Why did he offer his help?" Jimbei asked and the man began to laugh.
"Because he's interested in Lucy-san, has been since he first saw her bounty. But then after they spent some time with her is Sabaody…he just fell even more," the man admitted and Jimbei gaped. Where had he brought Lucy for treatment? To the arms of a fan boy! Ace was going to kill him!
Law stood over her body. Finally his work was done. Now all that was left was for Lucy to wake up and recover properly. He looked down at her body, she was so pale, so different from the woman he knew. This Lucy looked like she was dying. The Lucy he wanted right now was as alive and willful as the sea.
She was laying on his table, motionless and quiet. And he hated it. He sighed, taking off his gloves and throwing them into the waste. He washed his hands and arms and then returned to her side. He ran his hand over his face, pulling it through his hair, and knocking the hat off his head.
"Captain?" Bebo called, and Law looked up. Bebo and he were the only ones in the room. He looked down at Lucy and ran a hand over her hand, resting it on her hand for a second before pulling away.
"Dress her, and the settle her into one of the rooms," Law ordered and Bebo got to work, Law then left the room. Allowing Bebo to do as he was told. When he walked into the hall of his ship Jimbei was sitting there still, just staring at him. "She'll make a full recovery, Sea Knight-ya. Right now Bebo is dressing her, and then she'll be moved to a room for her to stay and rest."
"I see, thank you for saving Lucy-san," Jimbei said, and The Lion nodded his head in agreement. Law nodded his head and left the hall to go to his quarters.
Sabo was pacing around the deck of the Moby Dick with the other commanders. They had all escaped. All those who had survived at least, and Pops had been saved and brought back with them. After they all pleaded with him. Ace had also come back, a miracle. Now both Ace and Whitebeard were undergoing serious checkups. Whatever Lucy did, they wanted to know what it was.
And then there was the fact that Lucy was gone. Taken by Jimbei while she was barely breathing. Loke had followed after them as well, and they had hoped to get her away and find a suitable doctor for her. But Sabo had yet to receive a call. He was about ready to tear his hair out. He felt a thousand years old with the weight of the world on his shoulders. Finally he plopped down on deck, not having the ability to pace anymore.
Finally the nurses and doctors of the ship came out though, and he hopped up like everyone else. Waiting for the news. The head doctor came forward and coughed, clearing his throat. "Ace is perfectly fine, there is no internal damage, and he is exactly how he was before all of this happened. His skin is a little tender, so are his muscles, but his heart and other organs are healthy. He'll make a full recovery. I never would've thought he'd been dead.
"Pops is interesting. All of his wounds were healed, but the bullets and all the causes for the wounds were forced out while he was healing. He's still sore and in a bit of pain, but he too is fine. Actually, whatever your sister did, Sabo…it not only made Pops better again. It healed him of his illness. He won't need all the medication anymore. He'll live a longer and healthier life now," Doc said and they all took a moment to take that in before they broke out into cheers. Except Sabo. He smiled, but was still worried about Lucy.
He had seen her, how exhausted and spent she was. He knew from talks she had large magical capacities. But fighting at Impel Down, fighting in Marineford, and then bringing back someone from the dead…was it too much for her? Was she dead? Was she alright? Where was she? Who was she with? Was she alive?
Other questions of his needed to be answered, and he couldn't rest until he had them. He did finally collapse from exhaustion though, his body giving out. He was thankfully caught by Thatch. "Hey…you need to sleep. We can think about finding Lucy-chan in the morning. There's nothing more you can do today."
Before Sabo could protest he was picked up into his boyfriend's arms and whisked away to Thatch's room where he was laid down and tucked in. "Thatch," Sabo called as the man curled in beside him. Thatch hummed, telling Sabo he was listening as he got comfy. "She's alright, right?"
Thatch didn't answer as Sabo was pulled in close, and the man sighed. "I don't know. I hope so, I liked her, and I know how painful it would be for you and Ace if she weren't. Like I said, we'll find out something about her tomorrow, okay? For now, sleep."
Sabo sighed and nodded his head, knowing the other man was right.
Hancock was chewing her lip in worry. She had been following Trafalgar Law for a while now, using Salome to track him underwater so she could keep up. Mihawk had come with her, and she knew from what she saw that Mihawk was someone close to Lucy. Attacking marines like she had to keep her friend safe.
She would stomach him for Lucy's sake. Finally though she sensed the submarine was rising and close too. She called to all of Lucy's followers who were also on deck. All waiting to know if she were alright. When the ship was fully risen a bear came running out, and she took this as her cue to jump down. Mihawk followed after her. They landed on the deck of the ship and the men there panicked.
"Two…two of the Shichibukai?!" One of the insects yelled and she narrowed her eyes.
"How is Lucy? Is she alright?" Hancock asked, intent on getting answers. But the men were too scared to give her an answer. Mihawk's fault, most definitely.
"Why do you want to know?" The captain, Trafalgar Law, asked as he came to the deck, leaning against the door.
"I'm her friend," Hancock answered proudly.
"Lucy is dear to me, I've known her since she was a child. Now, tell me how she is," Mihawk ordered and glared them all down. Surprisingly Trafalgar did not flinch.
"She'll be fine, she's resting now. But she needs to be somewhere safe and someplace she can relax so her body can heal properly now," Trafalgar said.
"You can bring her to my island, Lucy is one of us is spirit, she will be looked after perfectly. I will have my warriors meet us so we may cross the Calm Belt," Hancock said and nodded to herself, leaving no room for her to be objected to. Hancock then directed them to her island, and they sailed away to her island.
Hancock and Mihawk were led down into the submarine, and then to a room. Inside Jimbei was asleep by her side, watching over Lucy who was asleep in bed, machines stuck to her body. Hancock was satisfied for now, happy with the fact that Lucy was alright.
Shanks was sailing with the Whitebeard pirates at the moment. After leaving Marineford it was considered the best plan for them to stick together. His arm had been looked at already, their doctor mystified and awed by how it had grown back. Perfectly apparently.
Shanks had problems moving it though, and wasn't used to the weight of a left arm anymore. He had grown accustomed to being without and arm for a while now. Though the irony was he had risked his life once for her and had lost and arm, and was trying to save her from herself potentially when he got it back.
And then there was Ace and Whitebeard. They were apparently as good as new, just like himself. No more being dead or dying for them. Nope, because of Lucy they would be perfectly fine.
But Shanks just wanted to know if she was perfectly fine. Ending the war had taken a little more time than he had anticipated, and now they had no idea where Lucy was. If she was alright or not. And these questions were driving Shanks mad. He was nearly ready to tear his own hair out.
But this was Lucy, he knew better than to doubt her stubbornness. No way would she die, and knowing that he felt even more relieved that he had given her the hat back. The symbol of their promise for her to be a great pirate. She already was one though. He knew she was perfect just the way she was. An amazing pirate and ally, sister and friend. And he could understand the woman aspect a little bit now.
When The Lion Loke had touched her, so dotingly and lovingly he had understood for certain the fact that she was beloved by men. Lucy had become someone who attracted men to her, even if Shanks didn't want her too. She was too sweet for her own good. That was one of the problems, he knew it. If she wasn't sweet maybe men wouldn't be so attracted to her and would leave her alone.
He would have to teach Lucy how to turn men down in a manner that would crush their souls so they never came near her again. Yes, that was a good plan. He liked this plan.
So this is one of the longest chapters I think I've ever written! And I was rewatching this arc while writing and I cried again while watching and writing that scene. Ugh! Why so many painful feels?
I'm sorry to all those people who I told Ace wouldn't die. I technically didn't lie. I didn't say he would die permanantly though...so...yes? Don't kill me!
Next chapter we'll have some other stuff going on, Amazon Lily and people. Talk about training and some personal issues of Lucy's that Law will run into with her. Lucy will contact her brothers, Shanks, and people. She'll set the time limit promise for her crew. It's gonna be busy. Actually, that all might take two chapters.
I hope you enjoyed this chapter!
