Shay's place

Pete had loved running the restaurant in North Carolina with his mom and sister and had always said that he would love to have his own restaurant someday in Chicago and now that dream was coming true. A small restaurant around the corner from their neighborhood,and near the fire house had closed and gone up for sale and Pete had bought it and was reopening it as 'Shay's Place'

"So how's the restaurant business going" Casey asked adjusting his white shirt, Hermann had retired finally and Casey had taken over as Battalion chief.

"It's going great the menu's finished and I have everything set to open,in about a month" Pete said.

"Gabby told me she's going to help you out" Matt added.

Pete nodded, "she's going to run it when I'm not there"

"instead of working here" Matt asked.

"she hasn't figured everything out yet but we're both super excited for it"Pete said.

"So did you finalize the menu" Kelly asked.

"I did,Leslie and her roommate were doing taste test's last night and we finally settled on the last of deserts"Pete answered.

Cruz poured himself a cup of coffee, "so when do you start bringing us left overs"

Pete laughed, "when I actually open the restaurant, and a lot it will be donated to shelters and not be coming here per request of my awesome 11 year old" Pete said.

"That's me" Shay said throwing herself at her dad for a hug.

"What are you doing here" Pete asked.

"Well Aunt Gabby and I realized you left a recipe off the menu and we wanted to tell you and bring it you" Shay said.

"What'd we forget" Pete asked.

"Grandma Dawson's Mac and Cheese" Gabby replied.

Pete glanced down at the prototype menu and scanned it, "We did,well it's definitely getting added on there"

1 month later Pete opened 'Shay's Place' and everyone in the area loved it,and they also brought in a lot of police and fire fighters because they had a CFD and CPD discount.

"So are you excited to finally have your own restaurant here" Shay asked.

"Of course I am,it was great sharing one with Grandma and Elise along time ago but I could not be happier having my own here in chicago"

"It's got a great theme" Shay said smiling as she glanced around at all the pictures of Her and of Her and Pete and their 51 family.

Pete laughed, "Don't toot your own horn to loud Monky" Pete said placing a grilled cheese on the counter in front of her.

"Thanks" Shay said as Joe and Colleen came in with their kids, "Hey guys pick a table,I'll be right over"

"Thanks Pete" Colleen said with a smile.

Pete nodded in her direction as he took food over to another table and then took them menus, "here you go,anything to drink"

"Water for everyone" Joe said.

"Alright,Leslie will be right over with your drinks to take your order" Pete said

"Perfect" Colleen said.

Leslie walked over a couple minutes later and took their order,She took on waitressing as her second job and worked on the days she was off from the fire spent every extra minute she could with her dad at the restaurant and loved spending time with him their and helping him come up with special and menu items. As planned Gabby ran the restaurant when Pete wasn't there and Lizzie and kat both helped out as well.
