Get that DRAGON BA- WTF? Why is Vegeta here? Is he going to overreact when he finds out that, instead of resurrecting his recently killed son, Bardock resurrected a long dead low class commoner? … You know the answer. Ugh. Vegeets. Onward brave heroes…
Raditz had his jaw clenched while looking at Vegeta. While he struggled to believe Vegeta would care too much for Future Trunks, Raditz wasn't overly excited to see how the prince was handling the recent loss. It was obvious to Raditz that his mother noticed the resemblance between the prince and the late king, but she wasn't exactly quivering in fear. She was startled, not afraid.
For that, Raditz had to smirk for only a moment from that. She's a Saiyan woman with a spine. However, he goes serious again, realizing that having a spine doesn't stop an angry prince from ripping it out. "Vegeta, I... heard about Trunks. I'm-"
"Save your pity! I don't need it. Now, I asked a question. Who is that woman?" Vegeta shows his impatience and hostility.
Raditz clenches his jaw. "Yes, well. If you recall, my father perished defeating an Android. Seeing as we have no Dragon Balls, he had help from the Otherworld to contact New Name-"
"The girl, Raditz." Vegeta interrupts again.
Raditz snaps. "Getting to that!" He scoffs. "The Namekians used one wish to transport a Namekian to bring back out Dragon Balls, so we can bring my Father and Trunks back to life once we deal with Cell."
Vegeta scoffs. "I fail to understand how that relates to the Saiyan behind you. Woman!" He calls to Gine. "Who are you? State your business."
Gine huffs. "I am Gine, Bardock's wife, Prince Vegeta." She says, saying 'prince' with a whine.
Vegeta narrows his eyes. Raditz clenches his teeth. "Bardock instructed the Namekians to use the Namekian balls' remaining two wishes to bring back his wife, my mother, and bring her back to Earth, seeing as the Namekian balls aren't limited to the one year rule Earth's has."
Vegeta's form remained cold and rigid at that. His glare looked dangerous. "I see..." He stated. His arms dropped from being crossed. "Bardock decided to ignore the current threat, leaving himself... and my son, dead... for a woman?"
The middle Saiyan makes it a point to slowly float between the prince and his mother. "Frankly, I understand your react-"
Vegeta's arm snaps up, firing a ki blast. The ball comes in as Raditz bashes it to the side, hitting the ground below. Vegeta's voice sounded out as Raditz glared back. "Oh, I understand, alright. You, Kakarot, your father, you're a bunch of clowns saving worthless peons while I have to pick up your mess."
Raditz growled out. "Last I checked, you weren't the one to kill Frieza-"
"Last I checked, it was MY son!" Vegeta yelled out, his eyes flashing green. "The only one of the dead that could actually make something worth a damn. I'll kill Cell without any of you helping, but to think you ACTUALLY resurrected a weakling just for Bardock to have some tail?" Vegeta's aura bursts golden as he transforms into a Super Saiyan.
Gine, who hadn't shown any outward fear of Vegeta before, goes wide eyed and flinches back. Despite the shock and obvious fear, she still looks back at him. "This is... So, all of you can do it?"
Raditz lets out a roar, going Super Saiyan, the hair band holding his long locks, the smooth hair between his head and the band simply changes color as all the hair after the band spike. Raditz glares at Vegeta. "And what of it?" Raditz calls out. "What will YOU do, huh? You aren't in charge! We're supposed to work together, but your pride hasn't exactly worked out for us now, has it?" He tosses the Dragon Radar back to his mother, who catches it. "Stay back."
Gine clenches her teeth and nods.
Vegeta and Raditz each roar, auras crackling, muscles expanding, as they each enter the ascended form. Vegeta growls out. "You think you can surpass me?!"
Raditz glares back. "I already have!"
In an instant, the two powers collide, shaking the entire planet.
. . .
The ground rumbles in a grassy wasteland. In the middle of nowhere, a white marble stage rumbles lightly. At each corner is a tall spire, making an intimidating and grand stage. In the center stands the green monster, Cell.
Cell smirks as he feels the rumble underneath his feet. "Ah... quarrels with friends, eh Vegeta?" He chuckles as another rumble is felt.
. . .
In the mountainous range of Mt. Paozu, Gohan snaps his head up. His mother's voice comes in. "Gohaaaaan! Can you help me out down here! I have a new Trigonometry book and three more history volumes! OH! The Chemistry sets arrived!"
Gohan sighs, sweating with a light laugh, but continues to stare out the window. Gohan mutters to himself. "You wanted to show him up. Be careful." Gohan gets up. "Coming Mom!"
. . .
Gine is launched back by the force given off the blows. Raditz and Vegeta enter a strike exchange. Quickly, Raditz pushes back on Vegeta hard, forcing him into a mountain.
Vegeta ducks a blow, throwing Raditz into the mountain. He rushes in, Raditz throwing a kick, but missing. Vegeta's places both palms on the other saiyan's chest, firing two beams and blowing up the entire mountain.
Vegeta floats, waiting for the debris to clear. However, it clears with Raditz gone. Vegeta tries to turn, but Raditz strikes the prince in the back with an elbow crash. Vegeta is sent along the ground, rolling to his feet.
Vegeta leaps back, one hand snapping up. "Big Bang Attack!" He fires the blue ball at the low class warrior.
Raditz snaps his own hand up. "Shining Friday!" A purple-pink orb forms in front of him, clashing with the Big Bang Attack. The pink clashes with the blue before Raditz manages to throw both techniques away.
Vegeta flips over Raditz, landing behind. Raditz whips around in a punch while Vegeta throws his own punch. The two strikes land on their targets' jaws, but neither back down. They re-enter a strike exchange.
This time, Raditz throws a feint attack, disappearing in an After Image. Vegeta falls for it, taking a brutal knee to the back of the head, bashing him into the ground. Raditz flies up above him, charging purple energy in each hand. "Double Sunday!" The twin beams fire, striking the prince further into the ground.
The great explosion nearly sends Gine flying away, but she stands her ground. She nearly drops the bag containing the Dragon Balls. "Oh Jeez!" She can barely bother to pay attention, watching these two who are both well over five times as strong as Frieza's final form, and she didn't even know Frieza could transform!
Raditz waits for the retaliation to come, not having to wait long. Sparking purple catches his eye in the debris as Vegeta stands, showing several injuries. His hands go to his side. "Galick Gun!" He throws them up towards Raditz. "FIRE!"
The purple beam closes in on Raditz, who stands ready and throws his hand up. In a white hot explosion, the entire sky blinds all who look upon it. Vegeta's frown is still set on his face, but his eyes widen as Raditz is revealed with his hands still up.
The lesser class warrior has light wounds covering him, his clothes torn at the shoulder and calf. However, Raditz himself shows little care. Unlike Vegeta, who is breathing heavily, the long haired Saiyan simply stares daggers. "Listen Vegeta! I'm telling you now! You cannot beat me as I am now!"
Vegeta powers and rises. "How DARE you imply that you're so far above me! You are nothing compared to me!"
Raditz holds his glare. "Far above you? Maybe not. However, you made it pretty easy for me, to be honest."
Vegeta growls. "What idiocy are you spouting now?!"
Raditz snaps back. "It's simple! Your pathological need to show off lead you to going first. Congratulations! Now, you made yourself an easy bar to surpass! Gohan is stronger than you now! My brother is becoming stronger than you and probably me now! Your deceased son is becoming stronger than you in Otherworld as we speak!"
Vegeta's teeth clench, veins bulging in anger. He roars in rage, throwing his hands up as lightning sparks around his hands. He begins forming his new signature move...
Raditz scoffs. "Your lack of patience and overblown pride are why you've already lost." He raises each hand, forming two intense purple-pink balls of energy in each hand.
Vegeta screams out. "FINAL FLASH!" The golden beam erupts out towards Raditz, who maintains his composure.
"WEEKEND!" He roars back, firing a massive purple beam. It meets the coming attack head on, shaking the entire planet.
. . .
Cell chuckles. "My, it's a shame they can't agree enough to just aim both attacks at me!" He goes to a loud laugh as the ground shakes.
. . .
Gine shields herself with her arms, afraid that the energy will overtake her. However, the energy finally cancels out.
Gine looks forward, seeing the entire wasteland now divided with two vaporized trenches going as far as the eye can see. She stands with her mouth agape, unable to cope with how strong these people have gotten. She slowly raises her head, finding both Saiyans still in the air. Vegeta is more injured than before, breathing heavily, gasping for air with blood trickling from his mouth. His eyes are wide in disbelief, shock having ebbed away his anger.
Raditz, on the other hand, while breathing heavily, is no more injured than before. He looks at Vegeta hard. "Vegeta... I'll be honest. I was honored when I was first selected to be a part of a team including you in it."
Vegeta scowls at the other Saiyan. He chokes out. "As you should've been!"
Raditz keeps his hard stare. "I have pride, just like you. However, my pride was taking beatings my entire life. Whether it was by Frieza's forces, or by you and Nappa." He then flares his aura. "Now, here I stand stronger than Nappa AND you. Why? Because I took those blows and got back up! Vegeta, you need to learn to fail and learn!"
Vegeta snaps, anger back in full. "Don't lecture me!"
Raditz keeps his stare. "You know it. In fact, behind your pride is an insecure little prince that cannot comprehend how he comes up short, and yes, that is a pun intended." Raditz maintains eye contact while smiling. The smile slowly drops. "You can't even admit the feeling of shame you have for allowing your son to die."
That... is where the line is drawn. Vegeta may as well see red in rage, as he screams. Raditz's eyes widen for a moment. Wait... For a split second, lightning sparks around Vegeta's body and hair. Vegeta screams out with his hands up. "Don't you dare disrespect my bloodline!" He fires a massive white blast.
Raditz steps into a defensive block, the blast engulfing him. Gine loses track of her son in the sea of white that courses through the sky and into space.
Moments later, Gine looks up as two bodies hit the ground in front of her. She gasps in shock, seeing Vegeta and Raditz both about fifty yards from one another. Both are unconscious.
Gine blinks several times, unable to respond to the aftermath...
. . .
Cell sighs, content. "Ah, so the scuffle is over. Good riddance." He walks to the edge of his ring. "Time to announce the games." He takes off.
. . .
Raditz' eyes snap open. He sits up, looking at his relieved mother. "What? Where am I?"
Gine sighs happily. "You two knocked each other out." She holds up a small bag. "And I remembered the dark man on that Lookout gave you these beans. I gave you one."
Raditz blinks again. "Right." He remembers as he jumps startled. "Vegeta!" He looks to see the Prince's unconscious form beside him.
Gine frowns. "Insufferable boy..." She walks over to Vegeta. "Yeah, he's definitely related to the King. However, I was shocked to see him truly care about his own son. I guess children can change anything."
Raditz keeps a frown, looking at the unconscious prince. He sweats lightly, not sure what to make of that last attack Vegeta made. However, they take a moment to gather themselves before Gine places a bean in Vegeta's mouth.
The Prince jolts awake himself. He looks around, taking in the surroundings and piecing together what happened. However, his eyes make their way to Raditz, the two holding a stare for a while. Gine sighs at the tense atmosphere. "A couple of children, I swear." This makes Vegeta glare at her. She shrugs. "You knocked each other out if that makes you feel better."
Vegeta's mouth opens, slightly surprised to hear so. He looks at Raditz, the two holding another stare down. A moment later, Vegeta scoffs. He stands to his feet, facing away from the two. "Whatever... Do as you wish."
He powers up and leaves, only the mother and son now sit. Raditz sighs. "Lets find a lake for me to wash this blood off."
Gine holds up the bag with the Balls and the Dragon Radar. "The last ball seems to be about 150 miles West of here." She maintains a smile as Raditz nods to her, but he stops noticing her apprehension. "And it's been moving, so someone has it."
. . .
Some time later, a dripping wet Raditz flies next to his mother. Gine spares the odd glance at Raditz. "You know... I was so proud when you were assigned to a mission with him, but I never expected you to be lecturing the prince on what he needed to look at." She then shows some mirth in her eyes. "If I didn't know better, I'd say he's a close friend."
Raditz colors a bit. He sputters. "He's a bastard, and he's just upset that he can't lord his power over me anymore!"
Gine chuckles. "Both statements may be true, but that changes nothing about what I said."
Raditz groans. "Just... where's the ball?"
Gine looks at the radar, serious. Below them, they begin passing over a desert. However, far off ahead seems to be a large fortress. "It would seem it's in that large structure." She smiles at her son. "Maybe I can get this one on my own?"
Raditz raises a brow and looks at his mother. "I mean... it wouldn't matter. Nothing from the common people here could touch you, much less me. Why the sudden urge to do it yourself?"
Gine smiles wide. "Well, the only ball left is the four star, and I met Kakarot's adopted Grandpa in Otherworld, so I know how much that specific ball means to them."
Raditz is still confused. "Wait, you want to be included in the sentiment?"
Gine is suddenly a wreck of a site. "YES!" She huffs as Raditz simply laughs at her.
They set down outside the main gates. Raditz looks up with his hand on his chin. "Hmm... I don't necessarily sense too many people here." However, he senses one presence. "Hmm, someone not TOTALLY worthless?"
Gine blinks a few times, smiling as she turns on her scouter. It beeps a few times before reading the life signs of those inside the relatively standard military fortress. "Hmm... one fighting power above 200!" She shrugs as they walk through the corridors. The wall beeps with a light, a sensor. "They know we're here."
Soon enough, the two enter a courtyard exposed to the sun. The fortress walls enclose the area. Around them, there is military equipment, several tanks and explosive grenades. Raditz huffs. "Simple mercenaries. Nothing much."
"FREEZE!" Several soldiers reveal themselves from vantage points around the base, aiming rifles at the two Saiyans. "Hands in the air! Lay all belongings on the ground in their bags! Do not try anything funny!"
Raditz chuckles, whispering to his mother. "You know, when I first got to this planet, this hillbilly with a shotgun tried to shoot me. It didn't go well. We have nothing to fear."
Gine, despite not being an experienced fighter, nodded. "I see what you mean. An ancient Cold Force blaster would put this entire place to shame." She yells out to the mercenaries. "Excuse me! I'm here for a Dragon Ball!"
The mercenaries seem to talk among themselves for a second, until the Saiyans caught a, "Yeah, let the boss know. He'll have a laugh. Go ahead and put a bullet in the guy!"
Suddenly, a bullet closes in, Raditz catching it. He glares at the guy it came from. "No!" He aims his hand with the bullet, flicking the projectile back and hitting the helmet off of the man who fired it. The guy falls over, spooked. "Bad human!"
"What?! OPEN FIRE!" All the mercenaries launch a spray of bullets at the Saiyans. Gine's eyes widen in shock, but she begins rapidly ducking, dodging, and weaving through the stream. Soon enough, the bullets stop, the mercenaries reloading. Gine stands, unharmed, serious face on.
From her side, a chuckle. "You didn't NEED to dodge, mother." She looks over to Raditz, all the Mercenaries looking at the man who hadn't moved an inch. He raises both hands with a confident smirk. Slowly releasing, two handfuls of bullets land in the sand at their feet. "Though, I'm glad to see you can react well for your power."
She gives a slight glare. "Listen, young man, just cause I wasn't warrior material doesn't mean I never fought." She then looks away, muttering. "Even if I haven't fought in nearly 30 years."
The mercenaries all panic and stay behind cover, until a new man appears before them. This man has his hands behind his back, black pants and sleeves appearing from under a pink tunic. His head has metal plating over the skull, with two scopes for eyes. He looks at the two with a stoic demeanor.
"So... who are you, and what business do you have with me?"
Raditz smirks. "We're here for a Dragon Ball, and I'm fairly certain you have one."
The man snickers. "Amusing. Do you even know who I am? I, the great Mercenary Tao?" Seeing the dull looks on the two's faces as they exchange a glance, he chuckles. "My, it seems you two are in over your heads."
Gine glares at the arrogant man. She checks the scouter. "Yep, of course he's the one."
Raditz smiles. "You wanted your fight, mother. But first." He looks at the mercenaries, suddenly disappearing for a moment. Once he reappears, 17 rifles land on the ground at his feet. All the soldiers look at their hands in shock and scream.
Tao looks at Raditz, slightly wary. "Hmm... that is mighty impressive speed."
Raditz laughs at him. "Thanks. I wish there was something impressive to say about you."
Gine tosses the bag of dragon balls with the radar to Raditz. She jumps in and lands in front of Tao, bringing her arms up in a basic guarding stance. Tao looked her over. "My, your stance is fair, but unimpressive."
"Give me a break, it's been almost three decades." She says with a growl.
The older mercenary takes his stance. "Hm, you don't look a day over 20."
Suddenly, the earlier thoughts of hers and Bardock's physical age gap is put back in her head, Gine looking depressed. "Don't remind me!"
"Mother! Not now!"
Tao takes that moment to rush her. A knife slips out from his arm, attached at the wrist, as he sweeps several slashes at her. She reacts quickly, ducking and dodging several slashes with her eye never leaving the blade. She gulps, some sweat building up. It really is both exciting and worrying to be fighting after so much time. She ducks back, Tao pursuing with a stab motion.
She backhands the thrust to the side, finally sending punches from her side. The strike exchange evens out between them, swift punches and parries answering the slashes and odd kicks from the experienced fighter.
They separate, Tao taking a deep breath. "Your speed and strength is remarkable."
She looks at him with a half serious look. "It really isn't."
Tao laughs. "Such modesty. No matter. I'm afraid I'll have to kill you." He disappears in an After Image, appearing behind Gine.
Her scouter reacts first, the Saiyan whipping around and blocking the coming slash with her forearm. She groans as the blade is pressed into her arm. After a moment of the two pressing against each other, a trickle of blood comes off her arm. She roars as she powers her arm and snaps the blade off of Tao's arm.
Tao ducks back. "Remarkable!" He says with sweat building up. His voice seems to have raised. Could he be showing fear? Of course not. He's the great Mercenary Tao! "Very well! It seems I'll have to erase you with no evidence of ever existing." He removes his hand, revealing something similar to a gun barrel for an arm. "DODON RAY!"
The blast fires out, Gine's eyes wide in shock before she roars out, firing a powerful, erm, powerful for her, blast of her own of dark pink. It clashes with the yellow, until it overwhelms the Dodan Ray and hits Tao.
He screams at he tanks the blast. The aftermath is him in the center of a dusty area, his clothes in tatters. He looks at her, injured, and chokes out in fear. "Who? Who are you?"
Gine smiles, breathing a bit heavy. "I'm the mother of Kakarot!"
He looks confused. Raditz comes in beside her. "You would know him as Son Goku, and I'm his older brother."
Ah, THERE it is. All color leaves Tao's face as he becomes rigid. "Ah... I see..." He turns and walks stiffly into the fortress, a movement looking so awkward, the mother and son share confused looks.
He comes back out, stiffly walking, bending over, and placing the four star ball on the ground. He rigidly stands up. "I apologize for the trouble." He quickly, yet stiffly, hops to a support beam for a watch tower, kicking the base. Quickly, he removes a good 10 feet of the beam, throwing it into the sky. He jumps after it, landing on it, and rides it into the distance, disappearing.
All the soldiers scream in shock. "SIR!" "Guys, lets get out of here!" "RUN FOR YOUR LIVES!"
Raditz and Gine are left confused in the courtyard of the fortress, now alone. Gine blinks a few more times before grinning at the ball. "Mission accomplished!" She yells, satisfied.
The two lift off the ground, smiles between them. Raditz chuckles. "Back to the Lookout we go!" As they disappear into the distance.
Dragon Balls gathered! And just like in canon, where Goku got the Dragon Ball from Tao after working through a puzzle piece, Tao had the ball here. Granted, I'm sure it wasn't the four star, but I just did that for narrative convenience. I also hope the fight didn't go too fast if anyone wanted it to go on, but eh, I already turned what was a one episode filler in the show to a two chapter ordeal, so frankly, I wasn't willing to drag it out more. Next time, we enter the next part.
Powers:
Vegeta Ascended Super Saiyan – 850,000,000
Vegeta False Super Saiyan 2 - ?
Has it only for a second. If I was to guess since False Super Saiyan is half as strong as Super Saiyan, then False 2 would be half the power boost, which would make it equal to Ultra Saiyan, but since this was never a thing in canon, let's just say it's anywhere between SS1 and SS2.
Raditz Ascended Super Saiyan – 900,000,000
Trained with the bar of surpassing Vegeta. Whenever a character in DB does this, they almost universally get stronger than their goal. Note, this is also how strong Gohan is.
Mercenary Tao – 200+
As far as I am aware, Tao was only ever given a Power Level when official sources went backwards to assign powers in Dragon Ball. In that, Tao was given 180 as his power, but that is before becoming a cyborg. As a cyborg, he's supposedly stronger, but we don't know how much. He was also embarrassed by Tien, who was maybe around 300 at the time, so he's somewhere between 200 and 300. Does not get any stronger.
Gine - 900
Given that DB Super: Broly had one of Paragas's partners having a power level under 1000, but over 900, and he was higher on the warrior chain than Gine, she likely has a power level somewhere from 400 to 900. I can't imagine her being too high. She also has less combat experience than most Saiyans. Still a stubborn Saiyan that may be Waifu material if you're brave enough to compete with Bardock.
Reviews:
TheJSmooth – She may not have THAT much impact on future story, but I do have some things for her. Glad you like.
ChessMasteroftheuniverse – Keeping it between the boys for now. Let Raditz and Geets fight it out of their systems on the playground before mothers get involved.
Super Mystic Gohan – The did come to blows, so hope that was fun. As for Goku and Piccolo, Piccolo will be stronger than canon, considering he did go into the chamber in canon, but alone.
Knightwing20042 – Sorry, DBZ Broly will be all I use. For one reason originally is because I do not plan on this story going into Super except maybe have the finale be Battle of Gods. It won't be going to GT either, I know that much. The second reason that I now have is Vic Mignogna, who won't be able to voice Broly for the DB Super Anime dub because of the false accusations against him. (Please look up where people have factually proven them false.) Out of support of Vic, I'm gonna stick with the version of Broly that was only ever voiced by him, and not the one where he'll be replaced.
Serus Black Antihumannature – Don't worry. While I have no plan to have a chapter in Hell/HFIL, I do have a joke or two in mind for when the bald man gets back into this.
UNTensaZangetsu – I KNOW RIGHT?! Bring SS4 in! Then we can end the debate that way... or not, who knows how a Legendary SS4 would work multiplier wise, but would be AMAZING to have be canon instead of just in Dragon Ball Heroes.
Also, in my opinion, Broly did not use regular Super Saiyan throughout the entirety of the DB Super Broly movie. His regular Super Saiyan Form does not retain the muscles and eye appearance of the Legendary form, as his regular Super Saiyan form fought Gohan in Broly: Second Coming. That form did not appear in the movie. Just Legendary, and the Legendary plus wrath form if you want to go that route. Doesn't really change my mind, but I kinda see what you're saying.
And so, next time, on Dragon Ball Visions of Change, we enter the prologue to the Legendary Super Saiyan. Sorry for anyone loving Super's Broly though... this is just the only way to have it. I also have Hatchiyak after, and that can only take place after Broly because it drectly references it. Hope you enjoy!
