Chapter 36

The three Kiriakis broke the embrace when they heard the soft knocks on the door. Sonny stepped back and turned around to face the door. Mr. Calvington made his way back on the office and went to sit at his desk. He showed them the chairs and gestured to sit down. Once they were all sitting down, the dean offered them some water or coffees which were politely refused.

"Mr. Kiriakis, I will be honest. It's a complicated case…"

And in one instant, Sonny felt like he was back to being a teenage school boy sent to the principal's office for pranking his teacher. He remembered when he was 13 years old; his favorite hobby was to make the teachers go crazy and he was very good at it. He collected the hours of detention and was proud of that. Now instead of hours of detention, he could face bigger consequences. He shifted uncomfortably in his chair, nervous like never before. He thought about the only thing or person who could help him go through this. Will… He dreamed about his blue eyes capable of making him drown and forget what he had in mind. He thought about Will's smile to die for and his arms holding him at night. He knew he would definitely be stronger if Will was inside this room with him, his hand on his back. He emerged from his thoughts when he felt a hand on his shoulder. He instantly turned around, happy that Will was finally with him. But instead he crossed his father's glance. He looked down at the hand on his shoulder and he smiled. He turned back to the dean, infinitely happy for his family to be back with him. Again thanks to Will…

"Mr. Kiriakis, I just had a discussion with Mrs. Brady just before she left and let me tell you, you are on the blackest of her black lists. She is insisting on you being fired from here and sent to jail for corrupting her son. She is the most important member of our Council and we listen to her in the majority of our cases. "

Hearing those words, Sonny's face fell; he became paler by the minute and on the verge of being sick.

"Sir, if this is a question of helping the University, my wife and I can begin donating…"

"Mr. Kiriakis, it's not a question of money… Mrs. Brady has every right to be angry and to want justice to be done. We have rules in this establishment and Mr. Kiriakis has to follow them no matter what his name is."

"But… What can we do to help our son?" Adrienne asked joining her husband by putting her hand on Sonny's shoulder. This simple gesture sent him to heaven. He couldn't believe that his parents were now back with him and ready to help him. He thanked the odds for making him meet Will, to make Will fall in love with him. In this moment, even if his fate was to be thrown in jail for the crime of being in love, he was the happiest guy on the planet.

"Unfortunately , Mrs. Kiriakis nothing can be done. I already made my decision. I am just going by the rules and I grant Jackson Kiriakis of the right to explain the situation. But I don't guarantee that it will change my mind…"

Meanwhile Brian managed to track Sam down. After looking for him at his office, he finally found him at his apartment busy packing boxes.

"What are you doing here Brian?" Sam asked, surprised by the visit.

"I came here to talk to you."

"You're here to talk? I thought you were really decided not to speak to me again." He said with an emotionless voice, going back to his boxes.

"You're moving?"

"I came back here for the wrong reasons. I wanted to get Sonny back but he's happy with Will. I screwed everything up, with them but also with you and now I don't have anything here for me…" He bent over and put some books he had in his hand in the box.

"You're wrong! You have me…" Sam put everything down and got up turning to Brian.

"What? I thought you…"

"Will explained me everything."

"He did? That still doesn't make sense… You're supposed to be mad at me for blackmailing, in some way, your best friend."

"Oh believe me, I'm pissed off at you for that but he also told me what you did to help them, to help Sonny."

"You're forgiving me?"

"Not one hundred percent yet but I can try…" He approached Sam. "There is still a lot of things we have to talk about but I want us to have another chance. Of course if you want to…" He was cut off by Sam's lips on his.

"I want nothing more than for us to have another chance. I love you Brian and I promise you nothing else is going to come between us ever again…"

"What about your job? We can't be together in the streets if you're my teacher…"

"I know…" Sam placed a little peck on Brian's nose and nodded towards one table. "Go look at that piece of paper." He picked his books up while Brian made his way to the desk. The young man grabbed the paper and read it.

"It's a resignation letter? You're quitting?"

"Teaching has never really been my passion… I've always loved photography. Maybe now is the right time to devote myself to my two passions…"

"Two?"

"Yes. The photography and you." He smiled. "Imagine what the combination between these two could be…"

"I can't wait…" Brian stepped back to Sam and wrapped his arms around Sam's neck. "So we will be together in the open right?"

"Yes. As open as you want…"

"Speaking of open, isn't it your bedroom over there?" He nodded to the only opened door. "I think it's a sign meaning we have to go there right now." He laughed grabbing Sam's hand and pulling him into the bedroom.

Will wandered in town not really knowing where to go. He sat in the Horton Town Square desperately waiting for a text message from Sonny. What was happening right now? Was the meeting finished? Was Sonny good or was he punished because of him and his mother? And if that was the case, would Sonny be able to forgive him someday? Will knew that Sonny always said that he was ready to go through anything to be with him but he was sure going to jail because of an affair was really in Sonny's mind at the time. He sincerely hoped Sonny's parents could do something to help him. "Now I have to deal with my mother…" He stood up and almost ran to his house. He knocked with insistence until the door was opened by his father.

"Dad? What are you doing here?"

"I came back today from China." He let Will come in. "Care to explain what happened here while I was gone? I called your mom and she was like a fury. And why are you knocking instead of entering directly?"

"Did mom talk to you about anything?" Will asked as he made his way to the living room. He served himself a glass of water and downed it.

"Not really. I called her to let her know that I was back earlier than planned and she began yelling that she was ashamed of you and stuff like this… Will what happened?"

Will let himself fall on the couch and his father followed him.

"Long story short; I met someone wonderful, someone kind and smart. He makes me feel safe and I can't be happier when I'm with him."

"Until now I don't see where the problem is."

"The thing is… She went crazy when she learned who that guy was."

"Now I can understand. Your mother always wanted someone who would be worthy of you. She has standards and she wants only the best for you."

"And I'm telling you he is…"

"Man, how can you know that? You were saying the same about Jason and look at you now…"

"What? Why are you talking about Jason? (…) Oh my god it was your doing! (Will points at his father.) Jason left and didn't give me any news because of the two of you…"

"Okay I admit it was your mother but she wanted to protect you. You say that this new guy is you prince charming now but maybe in a few years, you'll meet someone again and maybe this person will correspond to your mother's standards. And you will be happy…"

"I don't give a damn about mom's standards. It's my life and I intend to spend it with the person I want and not some guy you two can give your opinion about…"

"To tell you the truth, I didn't want to have a part in the Jason's story."

"But somehow you did…. I loved the guy and you made us break up. I'm telling you, you will not manage to break Sonny and me."

"I have to admit; seeing you standing up for yourself makes me really proud of you son. And I'm again really sorry about everything you've been through because of us. I never wanted to be so absent. I know I haven't been the best father possible, I just wanted you to have the best life possible. So I worked and worked and worked… I worked so much that I forgot you needed me with you. I promise I'll make efforts from now. And I also swear I'll never judge your next boyfriends and I will not interfere in your love life…"

"Thank you dad."

"I just have one question. Who is your actual boyfriend? Where did you meet him?"

"Sonny's real name is Jackson Kiriakis. He's my anatomy teacher…" He blurted out, looking down.

"What? Your teacher? Will, come on! You can't be serious… There's no way you…"

"Dad, what did you just say? You will not interfere in my love life. I love Sonny and I'm lucky enough to have him loving me."

"I'm sorry son. It's just… Your teacher?"

"Well he's really young and he's just perfect." He admitted while a little shy smile appeared on his face.

"Truth I've never seen you so happy. (…) I will try to talk to your mother but nothing is guaranteed with her…"

"Thank you so much dad!" He threw himself into his father's arms and squeezed him tight. He felt his arms hug him back and he smiled. His father was finally in his life, in his corner and he was immensely happy. Their embrace was interrupted by Will's phone ringing.

"Sorry I have to take this." He let go of his father and grabbed his phone. He looked at the ID and saw the face he loved.

"My love?" He was answered by the silence. Hearing just Sonny's accentuated breathing, Will began to panic. "Sonny? How did it go? What happened?"

"Will, the Dean made his decision…"

To be continued…
