AN: I hope you all like all the chapters I have been updating recently. It honestly makes me super happy when I write for this story (and that's why I update it so often). Once again anything you recognize is JK Rowling's anything you don't is mine.

Hermione POV

December 13, 1994

I flipped back and forth through my potions book looking over the Poison Antidote that we would be making in a week. This one actually looked hard and I wanted to be as prepared as possible for when we had to do it. Professor Snape and I may have been on somewhat good terms but I didn't want to press his patience. He still scared me sometimes.

"Hermy-own-ninny." I jumped at the dark voice and looked up into the heavy dark eyes of Viktor Krum.

"Hello Viktor." I said easily moving my books over so he could sit down. He had taken to studying with me and he was actually very smart. It had started awkwardly but we had figured out a simple schedule so I could help him with his homework when he needed it.

"Hermy-own I vanted to ask you something." He said nervously sitting next to me. I smiled at him and eyes flickered around the room nervously. "Vould you go to the Yule Ball vith me?"

"Oh Viktor," I sighed and I slumped back against my chair. "I'm sorry but I already have a date."

He seemed to draw in on himself and sighed. "Its Potter isn't it?"

"No, he's going with one of Ginny Weasley's friends, Luna Lovegood." I said trying to keep my face from heating up with embarrassment. "I'm going with Ron Weasley."

"Oh." He looked away from me a large frown on his face. I swallowed thickly and pulled on one of my curls. My eyes widened when a thought came to me and I smiled at him.

"What if I got you a date." Viktor made a face then looked away again. "Someone who won't giggle at you and will actually talk to you."

"Do you really know someone like that?" Viktor asked shocked.

"Yes I do." I said with a nod. "Ginny, she doesn't have a date yet and you would love her."

Viktor shrugged as if he didn't care one way or another. I rubbed my eyes and sighed. Hopefully she would say yes.

Severus POV

December 25, 1994

I growled from the table I was sitting at watching as the students filed in. They were all excited and seemed to be glowing with excitement. But I was waiting for someone to walk through the doors. I growled waiting for them but I couldn't see her yet. Where was Granger?

Potter walked in with Miss Lovegood whose dirty blonde hair was curled and piled high on her head. She was wearing a bright orange dress that was hard to look at. Krum walked in with Miss Weasley who was wearing a pretty purple dress and extremely tall heels. She looked very pretty, surprisingly so.

"Severus?" Remus said sitting down next to me. I grunted to show I was listening. "Who are you looking for?"

"No one." I growled taking a large sip of Firewhiskey. It burned down my throat and made my whole body warm.

"Holy Hufflepuffs, is that Hermione?" I looked up from my drink to see a beautiful brunette with sleek shiny hair coiled into an elegant knot at the back of her head. Granger's dress robes were blue and she seemed to be standing taller than usual. Weasley whispered something in her ear and she threw back her head and laughed. My throat tightened and I threw back my head and downed the rest of my drink.

I barely paid attention to the delicious food or the dancing students. If anything my eyes were trained on Granger. Weasley was spinning her around and led her out to the gardens. I jumped up with a growl and strode after them. He better not try anything with her. I would strangle him myself if he did.

"Hermione you look really beautiful." Weasley said wrapping his arms around Granger's small body. She leaned her head back to look up at him her eyes sparkling.

"Thank you Ron." She whispered breathily. My body shook and it took everything inside of me not to storm over to them and physically split them up.

"Hermione," Weasley whispered her name huskily and I looked over in time to see him drop a gentle kiss against her lips. Blood roared through my ears and I growled taking a step out from behind my pillar.

Granger pulled away from Weasley a strange look on her face. Weasley had the same confused look. They stared at each other for a long moment then started laughing. What the -? Had I missed something?

"Okay that was not what I expected." Weasley said his ears turning red. "Did you feel anything?"

"Nope." Granger said with a shake of her head.

"Me either." Weasley said running a hand through his hair.

"Oh well at least we can be friends." Granger said pulling him back into the Great Hall. "You should go dance with Hannah Abbott she's been staring at you all night."

"Really?" Weasley asked, his eyes wide.

"Yeah, go on." Granger said pushing at Weasley's arm. Weasley stumbled a little before striding into the Great Hall his shoulders thrown back with confidence.

Granger's shoulders slumped and she made her way back into the gardens a frown on her face. My throat tightened and I took a step towards her. She sat onto a bench and dropped her head into her hands a single tear sliding down her cheek. "I'm going to be alone forever."
