Again, sorry in advance...
Kylo Ren's grip tightened on Rey as the remnants of Snoke's voice echoed through the bay.
He should've known this wasn't going to be easy. He was surprised they had made it all the way to bay 10. He only hoped he could get Rey out of bay 10, no matter what that meant.
Kylo turned to see his master. No, former master. Snoke held out a lightsaber hilt, shining silver in the lights. "You were wanting this, Kylo Ren, weren't you?"
It was his grandfather's lightsaber. Kylo had forgotten all about it. He had left it in a locker in his private chambers. How had Snoke known where to find it?
Kylo took one glance at the hilt, then stared Snoke dead in the eyes. He wasn't going to break. Not this time. But Snoke gave him another half smirk that twisted his decrepit, rotting face. "I should've known long ago, Kylo Ren, that you'd betray me. Never had I seen your power. Your talent. But it's a pity your compassion has been your undoing," Snoke's eyes moved to Rey, "but it seems you've brought me someone. An equal to you, Kylo Ren. If you won't submit to me, perhaps it will be she who will." He nodded toward Rey, holding out a bony hand as if she would take it.
Rey suddenly raised her head, alert as if nothing had been wrong. She wriggled out of Kylo's arms. Kylo tried to protest as he gently led her to the floor into a standing position, "I'm okay," she whispered to him at his protests. He nodded and backed away.
"I will never join you," Rey hissed through her teeth, "only a fool would join you after what you did to me!"
Kylo clenched his fists as he caught sight of the smug grin on General Hux's face. He could see into that foul mind. How proud he was to have violated Rey. Kylo wanted to kill Hux, but held himself back. Snoke could kill Rey before Kylo had the chance to stop him.
Snoke roared with laughter, "my child, after I'm done with you, joining me will be your only salvation from yourself."
Without warning, Snoke swiped his hand through the air.
The force hit Kylo in the abdomen, as if a large boulder had been hurled at him, knocking him backwards and slamming to the ground. The air rushed out of his lungs. He writhed on the floor, desperately trying to breathe, but it was like there were shards of ice trapped in his lungs. His eyes bulged and he gazed around. Luke, Finn, and Poe were also lying on the ground, struggling to breathe and rise off the floor. Kylo tried to rise as well, but invisible shackles held him firm to the ground. He pulled and pulled, but Snoke's hold on him wouldn't budge.
Kylo steadied himself and raised his head off the floor. Rey stood right next to him, frozen by Snoke. Her eyes had a dead gaze to them and her head drooped. With a flick of Snoke's hand, Rey's feet lifted off the floor and she rose in the air, her dropped back and arms open wide. Kylo's breath caught in his throat. He screamed as he struggled fruitlessly against his bonds, but he was slammed back onto the cold floor.
It felt like he had been watching Rey rise in the air for years instead of moments. Every breath echoed in his ears. "Rey," he breathed. His heart pounded in his ears as she floated above him.
Rey's body seized. Her back arched and she screamed out in agony. It was the worst sound Kylo had ever heard. It was deafening as it echoed through the bay. Kylo screamed out as well. The world around him was nothing but a blur. He could feel her pain. Feel what Snoke was doing to her. It was like sharp nails were raking through his brain, clawing deeper with each subsequent swipe. Every nerve cell in his body felt as if it was lit on fire. It blazed down his spine in an inferno. He, too, arched his back. The pain blinded him and his screams were only just audible over Rey's.
It felt like hours-no, days-of unrelenting agony. At some point, Kylo Ren would surely die, and so would Rey. All their bodies would have to do is simply give up.
The pain finally did cease. Kylo immediately thought t was because he had died. So, this is what death was like. What it was like to become one with the Force. Maybe, one day, he would somehow be able to see her again. Her beauty. Her Light. Touch her sun kissed skin. Whatever happened.
Kylo blinked open his eyes and was, in a way, disappointed he was still lying there on the cold, hard floor of bay 10. His neck was stiff, but when he turned to his right, Rey was laying on the floor right next to him, turning her head from side to side as she drifted in and out of consciousness.
Kylo turned on his side and reached a hand out to her, the invisible bonds released. "Rey," he whispered. He placed a hand on her cheek and she gasped sharply at his touch.
She opened her eyes, weakly, to stare at him, shuddering, "I'm so cold." Kylo knew it wasn't because of the floor. The Darkness within her was slowly being unleashed and he didn't know what to do to lock it away again.
Kylo swallowed, "Rey, look at me." It took her a moment to raise her eyes to him. "We'll get out of this. Luke will get you the help you need to defeat this. I just need you to hold on a little longer. I love you."
Rey didn't respond, but pressed her lips together, nodded. Her eyes told him that she understood, but also there was new determination. She began to rise off the floor, and Kylo followed her lead. His joints felt as if they were still smoldering and he had to carefully rise off the floor. He glanced to the side and saw Luke, Finn, and Poe were already up. Kylo caught his breath and straightened. Rey was already standing straight in a defensive stance, as if nothing had happened at all.
"Do you honestly think that torturing me and violating me will make me want to join you?" Rey took a minute to catch her breath. Even though Rey stood and was trying to be brave, Kylo could sense something inside her, as if a part of her was dying.
Snoke gave her a twisted smile, "my dear, I'm only softening you up. Your fall into Darkness will be too easy once I tell you the truth about your past."
Kylo went rigid. His heart began to quiver and his body felt as if it could explode at any minute. Even breathing became difficult. He moved closer to Rey and placed a reassuring hand on her shoulder, but she was focused only on Snoke. "There is nothing you can tell me that would convince me to join you."
Snoke's face twisted into that smile as he strode forward to tower over both Rey and Kylo. Kylo wrapped a protective arm around her. Snoke studied the two, "Do you ever wonder why the ones you care for are the same ones who have always lied to you?" Snoke droned. The decrepit face mangled with scars as he towered over her, pale eyes staring deep into her soul.
"They had their reasons." Rey wrenched herself from Kylo's grip. "It was for my protection. To keep me from falling to the Dark Side. I know about my family. I am the great granddaughter of Sheev Palpatine. The Dark Side is in my veins."
"Indeed," Snoke simply said, "and that would make you the long lost princess of the Great Empire. If only I had a fraction of that power. Such a waste that you force yourself to the Light when your true greatness lies with the Dark. There are things you could do that I could only dream of." Snoke gestured to Kylo, who tightened his balled fists, "you could always be assured that you can bring your beloved back from death should the need arise and cheat your own death, as well. From what I understand, you've already been able to produce lightning. Think about how it felt to have that sort of power, and think about how much more you could have."
"And a lifetime of suffering? I'll pass." Rey snapped back.
"Like the lifetime of suffering you've had on Jakku? The backbreaking work, the horrid conditions, having to fight and scrape by every day, and never knowing if you'll get a bite to eat? Suffering is a part of life, my dear. You'll suffer on the Dark Side, yes. But, your power will be unimaginable." Snoke said, "why align with those who have lied to you, even wiped your memory, to keep their deepest, darkest secrets hidden for you? Tell me, dear, have you ever had visions or scraps of the past you feel you have never seen before flash before your eyes without a clue where they came from?"
Rey opened her mouth to speak, but paused. Kylo peeked into her mind for a moment and saw a number of images leftover from years of dreams and nightmares. She stared at Snoke curiously. "How did you...?"
"You've had them for as long as you could remember, haven't you?" Snoke's voice was getting louder and louder.
Kylo felt his gut clench tight as he reached for Rey once more. "Rey, don't listen to him!"
"And what are you so desperate to hide, Kylo Ren?" Snoke gave him a look somewhere between a scowl and a smile, "what secrets have you kept hidden? Was it not long ago you were going to use those very secrets to turn her to the Dark Side?"
Kylo's body seized, clenching Rey's shoulder. He couldn't help it. The truth was slowly coming out and there was no way to Rey turned toward him and have him a troubled look, one bordering on betrayal. "Ben, what is he talking about?"
Snoke laughed, "so, Ben Solo lives. Tell me, Ben Solo, how noble is it to keep those secrets from your beloved? Especially one so terrible?"
Rey turned to Kylo, "what is he talking about, Ben? Please, tell me." There was a desperate look in her eyes. He knew she deserved to know, but not like this. Not the half truths Snoke would tell her. Kylo opened his mouth, but didn't speak. He didn't know how to tell her.
He hesitated too long.
"Why don't you tell her, Ben Solo," Snoke sneered. Rey turned back to Snoke, hoping to find the answer, "tell her about what you saw when you probed her mind on that hangar on Endor."
Rey turned back to Kylo, her eyebrows knit tight, "You probed my mind when I was unconscious on Endor?"
Kylo didn't have an answer. He never meant to go so deep into her mind. He only wanted to see what she had been dreaming and never thought he would find such a dark history locked away. Kylo couldn't form the words to tell her. "I...I..."
"He did, indeed," Snoke said, "and he saw Luke Skywalker confront and kill your parents!"
Rey's mouth fell open. Her eyes gazed around the room, first looking to Snoke, then to Luke, who stood quietly, then to Kylo Ren, then back to Snoke. "That can't be true," she muttered.
Snoke sneered, "search your feelings, my dear, you know it is true," Snoke shot a long, bony finger towards Luke, "he went there to take you!" He barked, "but your parents didn't want that. Your father fought him to keep you there, but Luke not only killed your father, but your mother as well, then wiped your memory so he could mold and manipulate you into his perfect student!" Snoke spat that last sentence at her.
Rey furrowed her brow and gazed down at the floor, trying to piece everything together in her mind. Luke, finally stepped closer. "Rey, that's not how-"
"Stay away from me!" She snapped at Luke. Her fists were balling up tight.
Kylo could feel Finn and Poe shuffle anxiously behind him and heard Finn whisper "Rey," his voice full of concern.
Rey drew in heavy, angry breaths. Her face was getting redder and redder and Kylo could see a tremble to her lips. Her eyes were shut tight and Kylo feared what he would see when she opened them. "Rey...I..."
"Did you really know?" She snapped, her voice shaky.
"Rey, this is not..."
"Did you know!?" She sneered through her teeth. She opened her eyes. They were angry, but still their natural shade of hazel.
Kylo's shoulders slumped. It felt as if his heart dropped from his body and his stomach clenched. He pressed his lips together and swallowed nervously, sweat slicked his entire face and his scar burned more and more intensely. Rey's gaze remained sharp on him, but he could feel her anger rising as the moments passed. Kylo shuffled his feet for a moment before squaring his shoulders to her. He met her gaze. He wanted to touch her face one last time before he lost her, possibly forever. "Yes," He said as gently and calmly as he could.
Everything went cold. Instead of a familiar, loving warmth through the bond, Kylo felt a deathly chill, as if any and all happiness had suddenly died. Rey ripped herself away from Kylo, taking a step backward. Her head was down and eyebrows furrowed, her fists clenching and unclenching. The muscles in her jaw rippled as her breathing became heavier and heavier. Kylo reached a hand out to her "Rey," He said, hoping to reason with her before the Darkness began to take control again, "listen to me. This isn't what you think. Luke didn't kill your mother..."
"It was by his lightsaber!" Snoke interrupted, "If he hadn't been there, your parents would still be alive and you wouldn't have had to spend all those miserable years on Jakku!"
Rey collapsed to her knees, holding her chest. Her eyes were distant, her face pale. Kylo knelt to her level, a flurry of panic rising in his chest. "Rey!" He said, "Rey, please give me a chance to show you what really happened!" He grabbed the side of her face and turned her head so she had to look at him, "Rey, please look at..."
Kylo's heart dropped and he could barely breathe. "No," he whispered to himself. He gazed at Rey in disbelief, at the angry, yellow eyes that stared back at him.
Then, it all happened so quickly that Kylo didn't even comprehend what had happened until much later. Something slammed into him so hard, his vision doubled and he flew backwards, a long, loud shriek piercing his ears. Kylo hit the ground hard, skidding backwards. His head was fuzzy and the ringing in his ears was the only thing he could hear. He slowly rise off the ground, rubbing his forehead. He squinted, the dim bay lights now blinding. He tried to make out what was happening.
Rey was just a dark shadow against the blinding light. She stood alone, her hands outstretched and fingers curled and a ripple of dark energy encircling her. Kylo gazed around the room. To his right, he could see Finn and Poe both lying in heaps near the Falcon, raising their heads in confusion. He could barely make out the figures of Snoke and Hux across the room. He couldn't tell if Hux had began to stir, but Snoke was sitting upright, his deep laugh barely audible through Rey's horrible screaming.
Kylo looked to his left. Luke was only meters away standing upright, braced against the energy. Kylo could see the dark energy passing around Luke. Luke took one step forward, then another, each step difficult as if he were walking through a sandstorm or a blizzard. Kylo raised his hand as well and summoned that same energy to make his way to Rey.
Every step he took forward, he took two more back. He pushed and pushed with all his might, but the dark aura was far too strong. Kylo turned his attention to Luke, who had continued to push forward until he was only a few steps from Rey. He was calling her name, "Rey!"
Kylo pushed forward with all of his strength, finally able to take more than one step forward. "Luke!" He screamed, but either Luke ignored him or didn't hear.
Luke was closing the distance, his hand outstretched, still calling out to Rey and either saying "stop this!" or "enough," but Kylo wasn't sure.
Suddenly, the room was dead silent and the energy died. Rey turned her attention to Luke, those eyes still blaring yellow and angry. Kylo caught his breath for only a moment before pushing off into a dead sprint towards Rey and Luke, "REY!" He bellowed, but when he was only a couple long strides away, Rey stretched out her hand and crackling lightning hit Kylo in his abdomen. He flew backwards, his middle burning as the last remnants of the Force Lightning fizzled out, and he slammed into the floor next to the Falcon, nearly hitting Finn and Poe, who were now upright on their knees.
Kylo couldn't move, either his muscles were seized or Rey was holding him down with her powers. He looked up to find Luke suspended in the air, his face bright red and eyes bulging out of his skull as Rey held him in a Force Choke. He clawed at his throat. Why wasn't he fighting back? Kylo wondered. Luke Skywalker could prevent this. The blood of Anakin Skywalker, of Darth Vader himself, pulsed through his veins. He could blink and Rey would be sprawled on the ground, if he wanted. Then, Kylo realized, maybe that was it. Maybe Luke Skywalker didn't want to get out of this. But, it just didn't make sense.
Until Kylo realized exactly what Luke was doing. Rey's attention was on Luke, as was Snoke and Hux's, and not Kylo, Finn, and Poe. A distraction to help them escape.
But, Kylo couldn't go. He needed to get Rey out as well. He couldn't leave her behind and let Snoke manipulate her further. But, it might also mean his death as well, along with Finn, Poe, and whatever part of the Resistance fleet they brought with them. Maybe there was a way, but he needed to act fast. He turned to Finn and Poe, "You need to get out of here," he whispered.
Finn looked at him in alarm, "we can't leave Rey and Luke!"
Kylo tightened his fists, annoyed that Finn couldn't see what was happening, "there isn't much time," he said through clenched teeth.
It was Poe who spoke next, putting a hand on Finn's shoulder, "come on, now's our chance." At least the Resistance Pilot got it! Poe pulled Finn up the ramp of the Falcon.
Finn struggled in Poe's grasp, "No! He shouted, "we have to get Rey!"
Kylo turned sharply, "shut the fuck up or we all die!" He hissed. Kylo turned back to Luke. He was fading. He wouldn't have much longer.
"What about you!?" Poe said, still struggling to restrain Finn.
"I'm going to try to get her. Leave me behind, if you must. Warn the Resistance. Prepare for attack." Kylo said over his shoulder.
Poe nodded and dragged Finn the rest of the way up the ramp. Kylo hopes Poe would calm him down and explain what was happening, but emotions were, thus far, getting the best of the former stormtrooper.
Kylo turned and sighed. He'd be lying if he said he wasn't afraid. He took two steps forward, "Rey!" He shouted. Rey didn't look at him, but flinched as if she was hearing and understanding his words, "don't do this. This is not you. This is not the girl I fell in love with. I love you, no matter what. Please don't do something you'll regret."
Rey turned her gaze to Kylo, a cold smirk across her face. Those yellow eyes penetrating his soul.
It happened so fast. A silver object rocked through the air from Snoke and into Rey's outstretched hands. A bright, blue light erupted from one end of the object, and plunged into Luke Skywalker's chest.
Kylo was frozen in disbelief for what felt like hours before he realized what had happened. It was like the image of Rey burying the lightsaber through Kylo's uncle was a surreal nightmare that wouldn't make sense until he woke up. But, there was no waking from this nightmare.
Rey's face was twisted into something like an animal as she twisted the hilt and tore the saber out. Luke's face was one of surprise, but slowly calming into death, much like Han Solo had when Kylo had done the same.
Luke's body crashed into the floor in a heap. Or rather, his robes piled into a heap. There was no body anymore and there wasn't anything else Kylo could do to save him.
He heard the Falcon whir to life behind him. He turned. He didn't have much time. He looked back. Rey stared at him, her eyes still yellow, but her expression shifted into one seen on a lost little girl. Confused. Saddened. And hopeful. It was only for a moment. Then, Snoke threw his hand up. A pulse of energy shot into Rey and her eyes rolled back, then she stared Kylo dead in the face, again as if he were prey.
Kylo's heart leapt as he stumbled backwards, Rey slowly advancing on him, the lightsaber still ignited in her hand. He was next. Kylo held out his hand towards Luke's robes. They shifted and the silver hilt of the green lightsaber flew out from the folds. Kylo tucked it into his belt and found his way up the ramp, "TAKE OFF!" He roared. The ramp lifted up behind him. As it closed, he gazed back out at the bay. At Rey, her angry features unyielding. His face was smeared with sadness as he got one last look at his love. "I love you." He murmured. He was sure she didn't hear it with not only the noise, but the distance between them. He hoped she felt it through the bond. The bond still remained, but he didn't dare peek into it.
The Falcon lurched forward. Kylo stumbled down the corridor. He had last been on this ship when he investigated it on Starkiller Base, but hadn't flown in the ship for some time. He made it to the cockpit, a distressed Finn laying on a cot in the corner. He stared long enough not to sense a large, hairy creature slam into him.
There was a roar as Chewbacca hurled Kylo against the wall, holding him by his throat. Kylo's head felt like it was going to explode. Blood whooshed in his ears as Chewie crushed his throat. He couldn't hear Poe or Finn's pleas to let him go, nor could he protest or say he was sorry for killing Han Solo. He was extremely sorry.
Finally, Kylo was released and he crashed to the floor in a heap, sucking in as much air as his lungs could hold in loud gasps.
"Chewie!" Kylo heard Poe yell, "will you put your hard feelings aside for just a moment and get up here so we don't get blown up! You can choke him out later!"
With an agitated grunt, Chewie tore his attention away from Kylo and sat in the co-pilot's seat.
Kylo remained on the floor and continued to catch his breath. He looked out of the cockpit and watched the hangar bay slowly turn into the blackness of space. He couldn't help thinking about Rey. He was leaving her. He took a moment to send one more thought down the bond 'I love you.' There was no response, only Darkness. He wanted to go back. There had to be a way to save her from this.
The ship shuddered as the ship continued to make its way through space. Dozens of TIE Fighters screamed around them, firing on the Falcon as well as the several X-Wings, A-Wings, and a Y-Wing or two. Many were engaged in dogfights as the Falcon sped through. There was another shudder, this time the hit was even harder. Kylo got to his feet and immediately ran to the quad laser.
Kylo hadn't been there in what felt like a lifetime. He pushed his tall figure into the gunner's chair. It was definitely much bigger the last time he had sat there. His father let him practice firing on various junk items when he was a boy, never in an actual battle. Kylo strapped in and began to target his first victim, a solitary TIE coming in fast to fire another blast. Kylo was sweaty, his thumbs hovering over the trigger as he waited for his prey to fly into range.
Kylo fired. The TIE exploded into a brilliant inferno. More TIEs hurried in behind. Kylo only had moments to fire before a barrage of blasts rocked the ship again.
He was just about to press the button when his vision suddenly went black and he froze.
"Ben..." the voice was faint and distant. "Ben..."
Kylo rose from the chair, "Rey!" He stared back at the Finalizer. "Rey!" He saw an image. She was laying on the floor, in hangar bay 10. She turned her head from side to side, her eyes squinting open, but too weak to stay open for long.
Then, he heard Snoke's droning voice, "The Force is strong with her. Her mind isn't so easily persuaded, but she can not withstand the Darkness within her for long."
Kylo couldn't see Snoke, just a vision on the edges of consciousness, barely focused and fading quickly. It was Hux who spoke next, "Supreme Leader, do we go after Ren? Destroy him?" There was an eagerness to Hux's tone, but Kylo wasn't surprised to hear it. He already knew Hux wanted him dead.
"We must be careful. We still need this sort of power for the First Order to survive in its current state. This girl is bound in death to Kylo Ren and if we kill him, she may die as well. However, I sensed that she is bonded to another, though very weakly. His life might keep her alive if Ren were to die and still allow her to fully succumb to the Dark Side. But, I am uncertain of this." Snoke's voice echoed through the bond. Bonded to another? Finn? But, that bond was too weak, Kylo thought. Kylo could sense it, but it wasn't like the bond he had with Rey.
Hux continued his questioning, "what do we do now, Supreme Leader?"
Snoke took a moment to reply. Kylo could feel the gaze he had on Rey. There was something about it, as if he were formulating the exact plans he had for her, according to his vision. "Ready the fleet, your troops. We will need to go after Ren first. I suspect he will be headed to D'Qar to join the Resistance. Our forces are too weakened to engage the entire Resistance, so will need to intercept him before he reaches D'Qar." Snoke paused, "inform me when you're ready. I have some business to attend to with our guest here."
Panic set in as the vision faded to black. What was he going to do to her now? Hadn't she suffered enough? Kylo blinked open his eyes to find the bright whirlwind of hyperspace flashing around him. "No," he muttered. He ripped himself from the gunner's chair and made his way to the holding bay. Sweat trickled down his brow as he stumbled his way through the corridor to where Finn, Poe, and Chewbacca sat in silence.
"What are you doing!?" Kylo screamed at Poe.
Poe shot Kylo an angry glance, "what do you mean what am I doing?!" He leaned back in his chair, "waiting for the signal that we've made it to D'Qar!"
"We can't go back to D'Qar! We have to go back and get her!" Kylo said. Finn perked up at the words.
"Great! I just got done convincing him"-Poe gestured to Finn with a shot of his thumb-"that we can't go back and get her! Now you!?" Poe began to rise from his chair and leaned his hands on the table, "if we go back, we will be slaughtered! The First Order is still too weak to take on the Resistance. We'll be safe there until we can come up with some other crazy idea to get Rey. Until then, you'll have to wait. Besides, I'm pretty sure your girl is feeling a bit homicidal at the moment and I really don't want to be on any ship with her!"
Kylo tightened his fists as the rage began to boil within him. "Don't speak of her that way! She...she..." Kylo stammered. She...what? She was tortured. Violated. Manipulated. Snoke knew this game well. Once he knew of who Rey was, who she was descended from, and her great power, he had carefully and discreetly made his moves. Kylo sank to a nearby chair, using the table for support. He brought his hand to his eyes to and leaned into his knees to hide the oncoming tears. There was no telling what Snoke was doing to her now. He would do anything to forever keep her in Darkness. Kylo had failed. Wouldn't be the first time, but of all his failures, this was the most devastating.
Kylo sat up straight. "We can't go back to D'Qar-"
"Well, we're sure as hell not going back to the First Order!" Poe interrupted.
Kylo shot Poe a deadly glare, "I wasn't going to suggest that!" He growled.
"Oh yeah, well, where do you suggest we go." Poe gestured wildly with his hands, "D'Qar is our best choice. You saw the First Order's fleet! They don't have the firepower to take on the Resistance. Unless you can give us some intel on some super-secret facility the First Order may have out in the Unknown Regions to manufacture more TIEs or brainwash more kids into their slaves, then they don't have a chance against the Resistance on D'Qar." Poe's face was red. Kylo could still see that Poe didn't trust him, and he possibly even hated him. Kylo didn't blame Poe. After all he did.
Kylo swallowed, "The First Order is positioning to intercept us before we get to D'Qar. They won't shoot us down as long as I'm on the ship. Snoke still needs me and..." Kylo paused. What did Finn know about the bond? Kylo had been bluffing that day on Naboo when he told Rey that Finn would die if she were to end her life. He didn't really know for sure. But, could Snoke be correct? That Rey's bond with Finn was just strong enough to keep her alive if Kylo were to die? None of it was for certain and Kylo made the decision not to tell Finn, not only because he wasn't sure but also just in case Finn or Poe became angry with him and decided to jettison Kylo out of an airlock and be done with him. No, they needed a new plan.
"We need to change course. Go somewhere else where it may be harder for the First Order to detect us." Kylo said, not looking at his his companions. He was thinking about Rey. Something he could hold on to while he sorts everything out. Something to hold on to until he gets her back. He thought about her sun-kissed skin as she sat there on the dock, playing in the water. It was one of the first times in far too long he felt happy. All he wanted was to inhale her scent, hold her forever if he could. He would do anything do her, at any cost, for what she had done for him.
"Where do you suggest we go, then?" Poe interrupted Kylo's thoughts. There was still distain dripping from the tone of his voice.
Kylo sighed, "Ach-To."
"Ach-To? You mean where Luke had been hiding out all these years?" Poe said. "Why Ach-To? Even if the First Order doesn't know about it, Rey would surely find you!"
"I realize that. But, it's our best chance. There are many places to hide out. And," Kylo turned to Finn, "I can train you. I'll need as much help as I can get once they come." Kylo pulled Luke's lightsaber from his belt and extended it to Finn.
Finn looked between the hilt and Kylo skeptically before he stepped forward and took the weapon. "Okay, I'll help you."
Poe moved towards the cockpit, "I'll bring up the navigational chart from Beebee and Artoo and change course to Ach-To," Poe was almost through the door to the cockpit before he added, "but, this doesn't mean I trust you. And you'll need to figure out what I'm calling you because I refuse to call you Kylo Ren."
Kylo stared long and hard at Poe. He probably would never have this man's trust, but this truce was as good as he could ask for.
"So," Finn said. Kylo turned to his direction, "what do we call you?"
A smile tugged at the corners of Kylo's mouth. He couldn't help it. He wanted to say this to someone for a long time. It was like a declaration that Kylo Ren was now dead.
"Call me Ben Solo."
I'm so excited for The Last Jedi! I'm hoping to start completing these chapters faster so I can beat the release of the movie! That's my goal. I bought my ticket the same week that new trailer dropped and I'm taking off work on December 15th to see it early in the morning in Dolby! Even if Reylo doesn't happen (or can't happen after we learn a couple things in this movie), and I'm not yet done, I'll still write this and place it as an AU. Some of the rumors coming out about some scenes are exciting! Can't wait! Hope you enjoyed this! I'm hoping to have the next chapter up soon!
