Cas yawned. "Listen, Blink-"
"Its SQUINT!"
"That's nice. Anyways, listen, Wink, I didn't fly all the way over here just to stand guard. Raz definitely isn't going to come back to the place where she discovered her powers. Its the first place people would look, and she doesn't want to be found; its human logic. And anyways," Cas said, shrugging, "what's the point in giving Pitch and Gutt live bait?"
Everbody stared at Castiel.
"That was..." Bobby started. "That was the most sensible thing you've said."
"Fine then, we can all look. We'll split up into groups of two. If ANYBODY finds Raz before Nina and I, don't engage her. Just keep an eye on her and follow her discreetly until we can get there. I don't think she'll be even remotely comfortable with talking to anyone but me, and possibly Nina. Everybody clear?"
"Clear." With that the questers split up; Dean went with Sam, Bobby went with Cas, Eightbooksand60cats went with KaylaDestroyer, Jack went with Aria, and Nina went with Squint.
They combed through the surrounding forest, roaming far and wide in search of the missing kangaroo. They searched tirelessly, day and night, night and day, day in day out.
But eventually, it was the rabbit pair who were lucky enough to find the target. They found Raz sitting in front of a pool of water, staring with a melancholy expression at the still surface, tears streaming down her face.
To their shock, the tears were bright, glowing streams of lava, leaking harmlessly from her eyes. Neither, however, thought her tears were safe to touch. After glancing at each other for a moment, Nina gestured for Squint to go first. With a deep breath, the rabbit buck took several slow, tentative steps towards his sister.
Her explosive, firey nature made fire the perfect candidate for her new powers, but it also put them all in mortal danger until she knew enough about herself to stay under control.
"Razzie?" he whispered. The kangaroo jerked and spun around, eyes wide and fearful.
"Jackrabbit!" Squint felt a little bit of the tension release upon hearing his nickname.
"I-I, I'm sorry, I just-"
"Raz, it's okay." he said soothingly, taking another few steps towards her. "What happened was unexpected. You had NO idea what those sands would do to you, and you obviously just need to learn to control these new abilities a little bit-"
"I almost KILLED you!" Raz sobbed, more lava tears beginning to flow. Some of them dripped off her face to sizzle in the pond. "And Nina, and even Bunny! Squint, I'm so SORRY!"
"Raz we're NOT angry with you." Squint assured, getting ever closer. He reached out to lay a hand in her leg, but she jerked away violently.
"DON'T touch me. I'll burn you." she insisted. But Squint pursued, jumping up and climbing into her shoulder.
"No no no, stop, stop wait!" she protested, but Squint remained unharmed.
He lay a hand on her cheek. "I'm okay, I'm okay." he assured, smiling softly. "You're cool, see?"
