Previously:
Shinji sighed loudly and rolled his eyes. He looked up at the sky. Risa waited, holding back tears that threatened to fall.
"I don't see how this is going to work…but if you're happy—"
Risa threw her arms around him tightly and he chuckled defeated.
"Ah, you're so stubborn," he mused and she laughed and nodded into his haori.
Yoruichi watched Kisuke relax and sighed.
End Memory.
Kisuke felt her stretch against him and smiled slightly, watching as she began to wake up. Her eyes opened slowly and she blinked.
"Good morning," he whispered to her and she smiled.
"You're here. You stayed," she murmured pleased.
Kisuke chuckled and nodded. She threw her arm around his waist and rested her head on his chest contently.
"Let's stay in bed today, just you and me," she smiled and he laughed and rubbed her head.
"I'd like that," he agreed and she held him tighter.
Kisuke closed his eyes, intent on doing exactly as she suggested, until the shop shook violently. They sat up quickly and got dressed, making their way downstairs.
"Kisuke!" Yoruichi yelled and he turned to her by the window.
"Ichigo's fighting one of them," she said and Kisuke glanced out the window, his eyes widening.
Smoke billowed in the distance and he could barely make out Ichigo fighting with someone up in the sky. He turned to Risa.
"The attacking of the real realm has to be a distraction. They want nothing here. Plus, there's only one. The other two must be in the Soul Society," he deduced.
Risa nodded quickly.
"What are you thinking?" she asked.
She could see he was deep in thought. Finally, he looked at her.
"Help Ichigo. I'll head to the Soul Society to intervene," he said and Risa held her breath.
"Do you think it's wise to split up?" she asked unsurely.
She watched as he grabbed Benihime from her resting place.
"Probably not, but right now it seems like our only option," he said.
"I'll go with you," Yoruichi said and he nodded.
Sui-Feng turned to Yoruichi.
"I'll stay here and help Risa," she said and saw the conflicted look in Yoruichi's eyes.
Risa was shocked the woman would split from Yoruichi, but stood quiet.
"We'll meet you down there once the Hell demon is taken care of," she added and Yoruichi nodded.
"Don't be long," she said and Sui-Feng let a small blush fall on her cheeks as she nodded.
"Be careful," Risa said staring at Kisuke.
"You too."
Then the two took off to his underground training area to open a Senkaimon. Risa turned to Sui-Feng.
"Ready?" she asked and Sui-Feng nodded.
"Let's hurry."
They skidded to a stop and looked up seeing Ichigo clash with Tensor. Tensor chuckled as their swords clashed repeatedly. Ichigo looked angry as he failed to inflict damage upon the Hell demon. Risa and Sui-Feng were about to join him when Orihime called to them.
"Orihime!" Risa called back and saw she was in a barrier with Uryu and Chad.
Her eyes widened as it seemed the barrier was getting smaller.
"He's going to crush them," Sui-Feng murmured.
Risa jumped up and blocked an attack on Ichigo. He seemed startled, but relieved to see her.
"Risa, the other two are in the Soul Society," he said quickly and Risa nodded.
"Kisuke and Yoruichi are already on their way there," she said.
Tensor chuckled catching their attention.
"Ah, I bet you think everything is that black and white, don't you?" he asked and they glared at him.
"Zoru is an utter genius. I questioned him at first. Going up against a mind such as Kisuke Urahara. Sosuke Aizen lost to him, what made Zoru believe he could win? But now I see his plan for what it really is. And we're going to get to enjoy the show," he grinned.
Risa had heard enough.
"Engage, Juuyaiba!" she called, as the sword transformed in her hands.
Tensor smirked as a Senkaimon opened behind him, causing their eyes to widen.
"Infiltration...complete," he said throwing the switch into the water and walking through the door.
Ichigo dove into the water and Risa launched for Tensor, but he had gone through, forcing the door shut behind him. She dropped down to where Sui-Feng was struggling to keep the barrier from closing. Orihime, Uryu, and Chad were cramped together, their bodies angled in weird positions so as not to get crushed. Ichigo emerged from the water and threw the switch to Risa who flicked it opened and pressed it. Nothing happened.
"What the hell? Why isn't it working?" Ichigo asked frustrated.
Risa stared wide eyed at the ineffective switch.
"He's toying with us..." she whispered.
"What?" Ichigo snapped.
Sui-Feng stared at Risa, suddenly understanding.
"The switch was never supposed to work. He knew we'd go after the switch. The barrier won't open..." she trailed off.
Ichigo's eyes widened. Risa could see Ichigo about to break.
"Ichigo—"
"—what the hell are we supposed to do?!" he asked in shock.
Risa stared at the switch and then at the barrier. Then she walked over to the barrier and helped Sui-Feng keep it from closing on them.
"We'll hold off the barrier's digression. You have to figure out how to get them out Ichigo," she said firmly and he stared at her wide eyed.
"How am I supposed to do that?!" he asked and Risa had to remind herself that this was an 18 year old kid.
"Can't you use your second Bankai? Danmaku Tama Juuyaiba can shred this barrier," he said hopefully.
"Yes, and the people inside them as well. My control is...unstable to say the least," she replied and Ichigo cursed.
"Then stabilize it!" he yelled at her.
Risa was about to snap at him when she got an idea.
"Okay, this is what we're going to do," she said and all attention was on her.
"It may not work and it's a big risk, but it's the only option I see. We're going to have all of you focus all of your attack to one spot. Orihime, I need you to perform Soten Kisshun as many times as you can. Try to expand it no matter what. Uryu, same goes for you. Release your arrows in the barrier. Chad, we're going to need your arm strength to push the barrier from the inside. Out here, Ichigo will release Getsuga Tensho. Sui-Feng and I will get you guys out of harm's way," she finished and it sounded insane enough to work.
"And if it doesn't work?" Uryu asked quietly.
Silence.
"Then we'll find another way," Sui-Feng said shocking everyone with her optimism.
Risa smiled and nodded.
"That's right. We'll find another way," she said confident.
"This needs to be done in one swift movement," Risa said and they all nodded.
"Now! Do it now!" Risa yelled.
The three inside the barrier released their attacks and Ichigo lifted Zangetsu above his head. He was terrified, as he was aiming for all of his friends. But Risa and Sui-Feng were taught their flash step from the best.
"Do it Ichigo!" Sui-Feng yelled.
"Getsuga...Tensho!" he roared and brought his sword down rapidly.
The blue energy smashed into the barrier and Ichigo watched it shatter into a million pieces. He gasped wide eyed holding his breath and searching for his friends, who he prayed he didn't just kill. When the smoke faded he let out the breath he was holding and laughed relieved. Risa held Orihime and Uryu while Sui-Feng held Chad up.
"We need to get to the Soul Society now," Sui-Feng interrupted the moment and everyone nodded.
Sui-Feng opened the door.
"No matter what happens, do not let them free Sosuke Aizen," Risa said and the group nodded and ran through the door.
In the Soul Society...
The group ran on the rooftops, Ichigo carrying Orihime on his back, and came to a stop in the square. Risa gasped and covered her mouth. Bodies lay everywhere. Blood covered the ground. She scanned the bodies quickly to see if she knew any. She didn't, though that didn't make it any less painful to see. Then she heard yells and saw explosions a distance ahead.
"Lady Yoruichi!" Sui-Feng yelled and took off.
"Wait Sui-Feng! We can't just run in like that!" she called and her eyes widened as Tensor appeared.
"You're too early!" he said slashing Sui-Feng across the chest.
Risa took off and blocked the second attack with Juuyaiba. She grabbed Sui-Feng and jumped back.
Ichigo went to attack, but Risa stopped him.
"No Ichigo! He's just provoking us," she said firmly and looked at Sui-Feng, who hung on her arm holding her chest.
"How deep is it?" she asked and Sui-Feng swallowed hard.
"Pretty deep, but I'll manage," she choked out.
Tensor smiled.
"Deep enough for a slow death," he commented and Risa glared at him.
Sui-Feng coughed up blood and Risa turned to Ichigo.
"We have to get passed him and into the fight," she whispered.
Tensor smirked.
"Just try," he said and disappeared.
Risa tensed and looked around. She had a bad feeling about all of this. Suddenly, Tensor appeared and Risa dodged to the side, still holding Sui-Feng to her. She turned to Ichigo and his group.
"Stay on guard!" she warned and they all readied their attacks.
They looked around scanning the area for him. He appeared before Orihime.
"Ah, the medic of the group. Unfortunately for that pretty face, medics always get taken out first," he grinned and brought his zanpakuto down.
"Soten Kisshun, I reject!" she yelled and blocked the attack.
Tensor smirked.
"Looks like you know how to defend as well. Interesting," he said and just dodged an attack of arrows.
He turned to Uryu.
"I know several people that have an attack like that," he mused confusing Uryu slightly.
"Maybe you did. But I'm the last Quincy," he said firmly.
Tensor smirked.
"Is that what you think?" he murmured and Uryu's eyes widened.
Tensor didn't allow him anymore time to speak.
"Consume, Otoko-gui (Man-eater)!" he called and his zanpakuto transformed into a larger sword with razor sharp edges.
He squeezed the hilt and the two edges clamped down like razor sharp teeth in a hungry mouth. Tensor grinned.
"He's hungry. I haven't fed him in a while," he chuckled.
Ichigo was seething. They all knew they had to get to the real fight. Tensor was just distracting them.
"I'm doing you all a favor. You don't want to join that fight. Your side is not winning and the damage is pretty extensive. Zoru is on a mission and no one will get in his—"
"—machine gun!" Risa yelled and Tensor gasped as he was hit hard.
He disappeared quickly and Risa looked around. She handed Sui-Feng off to Orihime to begin healing. They needed her in the fight. Suddenly, she heard Tensor's voice, but couldn't see him.
"That was unkind. And right in the middle of my speech, where are your manners?" he mused.
Risa gritted her teeth.
"I was tired of hearing you talk," she growled.
"Then I will talk no more," he said and things became too quiet.
Suddenly, Uryu gasped and dropped to the floor, blood spurting from his back.
"Uryu!" Ichigo yelled and went to run to him when Chad lifted his arm.
The mouth of Tensor's blade clamped down on it and tried tearing off the tough skin. Chad fought with it, but soon found himself off his feet and flying into the ground.
"Bankai!" Ichigo yelled not wasting any more time.
Risa thought about calling her Bankai, but decided to hold off as long as she could. Ichigo's sword transformed and then silence overtook the area again.
"She's not healing!" Orihime spoke up after a moment.
They turned to her, seeing the wound still in a bad state and only getting worse. Risa wiped the sweat from her forehead.
"Maybe it's—"
She didn't finish as Tensor appeared before Ichigo. Her eyes widened and she flash stepped, blocking the hungry blade, but not before it caught her between its teeth. Juuyaiba had blocked it, but the teeth were long enough to still pierce her skin. She flinched as the teeth attempted to clamp down fully. If it succeeded, it would cut her in half. Blood seeped from the wound as teeth dug into her stomach and back. Ichigo gasped and stumbled back, shocked at the speed of the both of them.
"Risa!" he yelled in shock.
Risa watched the sharp fangs and fought through the increasing pain, managing to grab the hilt of the sword and Tensor's hand with it.
"Ichigo, send your attack towards me now!" she called and his eyes widened.
Risa winced. She wouldn't be able to keep the grip for long.
"Do it now Ichigo! Stop hesitating!" she yelled at him.
Ichigo steeled himself.
"Getsuga, Tensho!" he roared and sent the massive wave towards her.
Tensor struggled to get out of her grip.
"Let go of me bitch!" he roared and she smirked.
"My pleasure," she whispered and released him, managing to flash step away.
Tensor cried out as the blast hit him dead on. Risa rolled roughly to the side and covered her head as the attack ended. Ichigo ran and helped her to her feet.
"You're bleeding a lot," he worried and she smiled.
"I'll be fine," she whispered.
Ichigo shook his head.
"This isn't the first time you've bled for me. Why?" he asked quietly.
Risa smiled at him and touched his cheek lovingly.
"You've bled for us many times. It's only right that someone should bleed for you sometimes, idiot," she spoke honestly.
Ichigo stared at her unblinkingly and Risa smacked his cheek playfully.
"This bond we have is not one sided Ichigo. Please remember that," she whispered causing his eyes to widen.
"Something's wrong! Uryu and Chad aren't healing either!" Orihime's voice broke them out of their thoughts.
Risa covered her stomach with her hand and then looked at it. The blood was tainted. She groaned.
"His blade...it's poisoned," she breathed and Ichigo's eyes widened.
Laughter made them turn around to face a bloody Tensor.
"Figured it out already? And just as I was planning to have more fun with you! Did you think a measly attack like that would kill me?!" he asked insulted.
Risa turned to Ichigo.
"We have to kill him. Think you can keep him busy while I figure out how to do that?" she asked and he nodded.
He touched his face and the mask formed. Risa smirked watching him take off and attack Tensor, whose movements where slower now. She watched the fight and scanned out the area as a plan entered her head.
It could work. But then again we could die.
She shook her head of the thought. She looked up and took in a deep breath.
"Alright Juuyaiba, let's see if this works," she muttered and jumped up.
"Shotgun!" she yelled and the bullet pierced Tensor in the leg.
He whirled around and she aimed for his other leg, but he dodged.
Ichigo turned, looking for him. Risa listened. Then she turned quickly.
"Ichigo, direct your attack to the left with me!" she yelled and aimed Juuyaiba to her left.
She could hear him now. With his speed gone and his blood loss, he was slower, noisier; he was messing up.
"Machine gun!"
"Getsuga, Tensho!"
The blasts obliterated an invisible shield of sorts and they watched as blood began pouring from the sky. Then Tensor appeared and fell to the ground in a bloody heap. Risa landed on the ground with Ichigo.
"He's dead," Risa said suddenly out of breath and sweating.
Ichigo looked at her warily.
"Are you going to be okay?" he asked and she nodded.
"I'll manage. Let's continue before the poison takes full effect," she said and he nodded uneasily.
She grabbed Sui-Feng while Chad managed to get Uryu on his back. Ichigo took Orihime and they took off to where the others were.
The Squad One Barracks…
They skidded to a halt by the Squad One barracks. It looked like a tornado had been through the area.
She saw Kisuke with the rest of the Captains and Lieutenants trapped in a barrier, except for Unohana and her Lieutenant, who were in a separate barrier. Blood trailed from his mouth, which frightened her. He was also favoring his right side. Risa flash stepped to the barrier with the others, startling the group inside. Kisuke's eyes widened. Yoruichi pressed against the glass. She was hurt pretty bad as well.
"Sui-Feng!" she called worriedly.
Kisuke pressed his hands against the glass, scanning over Risa's wounds.
"What did that to you?" he asked, his jaw clenched tightly.
Risa shook her head.
"It doesn't matter, he's been dealt with," she said softly looking over his wounds.
"We're going to get you all out of here," she whispered and looked around the barrier for a weak spot.
"Tsk, Tsk, Tsk, Inari-san. Please do not release my prisoners," Zoru mused making her whirl around with Sui-Feng.
Ichigo and the others stood beside her, watching as Zoru and Miro appeared before them.
Zoru grinned.
"I underestimated you. A grievous error on my part," he smirked.
"You managed to kill Tensor and make it over here in record time," he said impressed.
"I see you were introduced to his zanpakuto Otoko-gui before he perished though," he said pointing to her stomach.
"You probably tasted delicious," he grinned and Risa began feeling the effects of the poison.
Her body felt heavy and she felt cold, really cold. Zoru smirked.
"You're going to lead us to my brother," he said and Risa shook her head, becoming dizzy.
"I-I don't know where he is," she lied.
Zoru shook his head.
"Liar," he said calmly.
This was getting bad fast. Zoru pointed to her and then to Sui-Feng.
"You're both dying, along with the other two boys in that group. Tensor's blade was laced with a poisonous agent so if the bite didn't kill you, the poison would. Though I'm sure you've been feeling the effects by now," he said softly and Kisuke's eyes widened.
Zoru took a step forward.
"I will give you the antidote and release the prisoners for Sosuke Aizen," he said smirking.
Risa's mind raced with solutions. Sui-Feng grabbed her chest and gasped. Risa looked down.
"It's...getting harder...to breathe..." she mumbled and Risa cursed.
"Find out where he is and retrieve him for me. Or die," Zoru said and Sui-Feng shook her head.
"Don't do it R-Risa," she choked out and Risa closed her eyes.
"I don't really have another option," she whispered and handed her to Orihime to hold up.
"Try to keep her stable for as long as you can," she whispered and Orihime nodded quickly.
"Risa, what about you?" Ichigo asked calmly, but she could see he was scared.
Risa offered him a small smile.
"I'll fight hard," she responded and his eyes widened as she turned.
He reached out and grabbed her hand tightly. She glanced back at him.
"Don't die," he whispered and she stared at him intensely.
She was surprised how much he had grown on her. She smiled lightly and squeezed his hand gently.
"I don't plan to," she grinned.
She turned to leave.
"Risa, w-wait, wait a minute," Kisuke said and she looked at him.
He was pale and sweating. Blood trickled down the side of his head. He was trying to think of a plan of some sort, she knew. She could almost see his mind racing.
"I don't have much time Kisuke," she said softly.
"Let her go," Yoruichi said quickly.
"Yoruichi..." Kisuke whispered surprised.
"We'll deal with Aizen again if we have too, but we can't just let them die," she said firmly and Kisuke fell silent.
Risa nodded and flash stepped away.
