Danni POV
"Sin City. This should be interesting" Annabeth comments as we all load into the truck. She sit shotgun while Grover drives and Percy and I take the backseat.
"Interesting? This is going to be our best stop yet!" Grover says excitedly as we take off toward what is probably going to be our worst stop yet.
I let out a small laugh and glance over to see Percy looking at me I quickly silence myself and look away. I curl into the side of car, my head resting on the window as if I'm trying to sleep, but sleep is the last thing on my mind. So I just look out my window watching as we zoom past city after city and enjoy the music.
After a few hours Grover stops at a gas station. Him and Annabeth leave to go to the bathroom and get food. I cant help but wish Percy would have gone with them and left me alone for a minute.
"Danni? Percy calls softly.
"Danni. I know your awake"
"Yes Percy" I whisper.
"Your going to be okay. I promise you that I will get you home" he says and I can feel him get closer to me.
"I'm not sure I know where home is anymore Percy" my voice is weak as I turn my head to look at him.
"You...you said his name. Why?" he asks hurt in his voice.
"I don't know. I don't know why it was him and not you. That's just how it happened" I turn away from him as I feel a tear escape and rush down my face.
I hear him let out a deep sigh. I turn see his face in his hands and I cant help but feel guilty.
"But It doesn't mean anything" I say reassuringly. His hands leave his face and he looks at me his eyes carry a glimpse of hope.
"It was just a dream. Right?"
"Right" He nods a small smile escaping his lips.
Grover and Annabeth enter the car but my eyes don't leave Percy.
"Okay we've got some Doritos, Lays, Hot Cheetos, Snickers, Kit Kat, Water, Gat- long story short we have a variety" Grover says.
I finally turn to look at him. His eyes are sad but he holds a smile on his face.
"That sounds great Grover" I say cheerfully.
The food is separated among us and we begin our journey again. For an hour or so we all talked about stuff other than our quest, we laughed, and for a moment we were normal and everything was good. Annabeth is now driving, Grover falls asleep, and I rest my head on Percy shoulder and decide that its okay to for me to fall asleep as well.
Very short chapter I know and I'm really sorry I have been really busy and I'm sure all of you have been too. My New Years resolution is to update more so keep me motivate by reviewing.
