Hey guys, MT here!
Sorry I'm a bit late but college is tough. I had two exams and a paper to write last week and it kinda took up my time.
Since I don't want to fall too behind, today is a short chapter, though it was also because I ran out of ideas :P
Anyways ENJOY!
Chapter 37
"Maka, I love you," began Soul, confusing Maka.
"Soul?" asked Maka, wondering why he was saying that so randomly. Soul pulled out a small velvet box and Maka turned when she heard Rosalie gasp behind her. Wes and Edgar also stood from where they were seated, their eyes wide in surprise. She turned back around when she felt Soul's soul pulse, nervously, and her eyes widened as well. Soul was getting down onto one knee and she couldn't help but squeak his name once more before he opened the small box.
"Maka Albarn," said Soul, looking into Maka's eyes lovingly. "Would you make me the coolest guy in the world by marrying me?"
There was a dead silence in the room as everyone awaited Maka's answer. She covered her mouth as her emotions began to overflow and tears managed their way out of her eyes, streaming down her cheeks.
"Yes," squeaked Maka, making Soul smile at her. He slipped the ring on her left ring finger and he barely had enough time to stand up before she threw herself at him, smashing her lips into his. Small cheers could be heard coming from Rosalie, Wes, and the maids who were standing in the back of the room but Maka and Soul completely ignored them, stuck in their own world as they continued to share their kiss. After a minute or so, they were finally forced to break for air and Soul pressed his forehead to Maka's, looking straight into her eyes as they both panted. "I love you, Soul."
"Love you, too, Maks," said Soul, sweetly, before pecking her on the lips. Before their moment could pick up any more momentum, the two were interrupted by a rather loud 'Ehem'. The two looked in the direction of the sound and found Wes looking at them, smugly.
"Now, now, you two. You wouldn't want to get much more intimate in front of mother and father. I mean, if it gets any hotter in here I fear that poor maid in the back might faint," said Wes, playfully. Soul growled at him and rolled his eyes while continuing to hug Maka, not really caring what anyone thought.
"Oh, hush, Wes. Your brother must be very happy to have made Maka his fiancée. In fact, I'm just as happy! I have a new daughter!" said Rosalie, gushing. Soul, once again, rolled his eyes and Wes chuckled.
"Come now, dear. She will not become your daughter until after the wedding," interjected Edgar as he stepped forward. "Congratulations, you two."
"Thank you, Edgar," said Maka, smiling brightly.
The exchange between everyone was rather calm after that, Maka and Rosalie already talking about possible wedding ideas and Wes teasing Soul while Edgar remained in the background.
After that, Soul and Maka were on their way back to their room, fingers intertwined and cuddling together, when they were stopped by a familiar shout.
"Young Masta! Young Missus!" shouted Nana as she ran to them, holding up her large skirt as she did so.
"Nana, what's wrong?" asked Soul, concerned because someone as old as his Nana shouldn't be running like that. Nana stopped in front of them and panted a bit, clutching something to her chest. She then ran up to Soul and Maka and wrapped her arms around them, pulling them into a tight hug.
"The wee lil Young Masta is already gettin' married," said Nana, her voice cracking a bit. "And ta such a fine young missus. I can't buhlieve it."
Soul smiled and hugged Nana back, as did Maka, and Nana pulled back to look at them, pulling them back for another tight hug before releasing them.
"The Missus just informed me that yuh proposed ryght there in fronta everybody and I just can't buhlieve it. Ev'ry time I see yuh I jus' see the wee boy who'da cry jus' cause they got a lil scratch and now yer engaged and even gotta babe comin'," said Nana, happily. Soul smiled at her and watched Nana wipe a tear that managed to escape her eyes. "Now, Young Masta, this may be a bit presumptuous for 'n old woman lyke me but I wanna give you two a present. One that I think yuh'll lyke."
Nana showed an object in her hand and it was a flat and ancient looking leather box that was only an inch or so in length on each side. Soul and Maka looked at it curiously and Nana smiled.
"I had it fixed up a few months ago cause I was hopin' ta give it ta yuh before I left this world," said Nana before opening the case, revealing an object that caused Soul's eyes to widen.
"No, Nana, not this," said Soul, causing Maka to become confused. Inside of the case was a golden ring a waving strip of clear, white pearl that encircled it. In between the pearl and the edge of the golden ring were small diamonds that glittered under the light of the hallway. The entire ring looked glossy and new but the design looked old and, even though the ring looked so nice, there was some just noticeable wear in the gold and pearl.
"Please, Young Masta. I want yuh and the Young Missus ta have it. I want ta leave yuh with my most precious possession," said Nana, causing Maka to perk up.
"Most precious possession? Soul's right, Nana, we can't take this," said Maka, not wanting to take away something so important from the old maid.
"Please. I want yuh ta have this. I want yuh ta have somethin' so that, even when I'm gone, yuh'll know that I'm always there with yuh. This is the only thing I can give yuh. Please take it," said Nana, hoping they would accept it. Soul looked at the ring and then at her before sighing.
"Fine Nana, but are you really sure? It's your wedding ring," said Soul, still worried about his old nanny. She nodded and he sighed before closing the case and taking it from her. He slipped it into his pocket and moved to hug her. When he pulled away from her he turned to Maka. "Maka, just to let you know this ring was Nana's wedding ring. She's had it for almost 80 years, even though her husband died back in World War 2."
Maka's eyes widened and she turned to Nana. Before she could protest, Nana pulled her into a hug, silencing her before she could even speak.
"'m so happy fer the both of yuh. Young Masta was lyke a grandson ta me. Take care 'f him for me, okay?" said Nana. Maka paused for a moment before hugging Nana back and smiling brightly.
"Thank you so much, Nana. I'll wear it proudly after Soul and I get married," said Maka, happily. Nana pulled away and Maka could see a bright smile on Nana's face, which showed the few teeth she had left, and tears in the old maid's eyes.
"Hey Nana," began Soul, catching the old woman's attention. "I still remember all the old stories you used to tell me by the lake about your husband. I remember sitting under the willow trees on the old, cracked, stone bench for hours of you just telling me about how you met him. Back when you were younger and you two met at a doctor's office because he-"
"-Sprained his ankle ridin' his bicycle," finished Nana while smiling at Soul. "'ow many years 'as it been now, Young Masta? 'N' yet yuh still remember this old woman's tales."
"I'll always remember your stories, Nana. After all, you raised and loved me as if we were really family," said Soul, smiling back at her. Soul and Nana began to go over some of the old stories he remembered her telling him and Maka just listened and smiled as she watched the two. She was so happy Soul was enjoying himself.
So? What did you guys think?
Finally a proposal! :DDDDD
And such a swwet scene with Nana too!
I hope you guys liked it and I would appreciate Reviews with feedback!
Also, feel free to give ideas on scenes for TsuStar and KidxLiz (with some Patti). I'm having some trouble writing for them since I hadn't originally planned to incorporate them, majorly, into the story.
Anyways, until next time...byeee :D
