Hi! Sorry about how long it took to update! I had lots of assignments due this week! Thank you to everyone who has favourited/followed/reviewed and I reached above 200 reviews! You are all amazing! I don't own Merlin, I own my OCs.
Chapter 35
The Talk
Merlin stood beside me in the courtroom, our hands clasped as Arthur paced around the room. We were the only three there after he had shooed everyone else away, even Gwen. Immediately, Merlin and I shared a horrified look at that action. If he doesn't want Gwen there, then he is not pleased, which is an understatement from the dark look he just threw us.
"So," Arthur paused in his pacing to crack his knuckles, "how long has this…affiliation being going on?"
I rolled my eyes. "It's a relationship Arthur, you can call it that."
"Can I?" Arthur suddenly shouted, whirling around, his face full of anger, and even worse, betrayal. "Can I call it a relationship? Or is it a sexual predator preying on an innocent young girl?"
"I'm not a sexual predator!" Merlin exclaimed as I muttered, annoyed, "I'm not that innocent."
"Well, how about you answer my original question then." Arthur murmured nastily. "How long have you been in a relationship for?"
"A day." I answered truthfully.
Arthur gave a small and very sarcastic laugh. "You expect me to believe that?"
"Yes, I do." I retorted, staring definitely at him. "Arthur, please, I'm still Amity-"
"Exactly, you're still Amity!" I gave him a confused look. "Sweet little innocent Amity! Not one to mess around like a lusty teenager with a man nearly twice your age!"
"I am a teenager." I argued.
"And he's nearly bloody thirty!" Arthur shouted, his face going slightly red.
"Why are you so against us, Arthur?" I questioned, very peeved.
"Why am I against you? Let me tell you why. One, you're my ward, meaning you're under my care. Two, he's a servant. Three, he's nearly twice your age. Four, you're innocent. Five, he has the mind of an adult." Arthur took in a deep breath. "Must I go on?"
"Yes, because I don't think I can understand what you're trying to say past all your hypocritical comments." I released Merlin's hand to cross my arms over my chest. "You married a servant."
"A servant who was the same age as me and we grew up together." Arthur pointed out.
"Yes, but that means two of your arguments are invalid." I pretended to be disappointed before giving him a smug grin. "Plus, when it comes to the whole age issue, aren't you glad that I'm not with someone who is fifty years older than me? Someone who my father would've probably arranged me to marry? Someone who would not have loved me for me but for my title? Is that you want for me?"
Arthur stayed silent before opening his mouth. "Amity-"
"Arthur, you were prepared to give up your title to the throne for Gwen." I stepped forward, gazing beseechingly up at him. "Please, let me do the same with Merlin."
Arthur stared down at me, before swallowing thickly. "Amity, leave myself and Merlin here to talk alone."
"But-"
"Now Amity." Arthur commanded and Merlin gave me a small shrug when I turned to look at him.
I sighed before giving Merlin a sad smile and shooting another frustrated look at Arthur before striding out of the room. The doors shut behind me, leaving Arthur alone with Merlin.
(3rd Person P.O.V)
Arthur was breathing heavily as he strode towards his manservant. "What were you thinking, Merlin? Playing around with a young girl's heart?"
"I'm not playing with her heart, Arthur." Merlin said sharply.
"Oh really? Because I want you to look at it the way it looks to me" Arthur grabbed Merlin's shoulders. "Imagine this, the girl you consider your daughter turns out to be having a secret affair with your manservant, who has been your most trusted friend for years. You have allowed them to spend time together, knowing that despite any feelings your daughter might have for him, he'd never act on those feelings. Then, you discover, in front of all of your army and knights and your daughter's army and knights, that your very 'trusting' servant has indeed used your innocent daughter's childish feelings to get close and be able to get himself off."
Merlin eyed Arthur as if he didn't recognize him. "You think that I'm really just using Amity as some way to sexually relief myself."
"What else is there?" Arthur replied, glaring at Merlin, before stalking off.
"A lot, actually Arthur." Merlin said coldly and Arthur went still. "Shall I make a list?"
"Yes, please do, Merlin." Arthur suddenly turned around, pointing at Merlin. "Because, pardon me, but I trusted you and you betrayed me!"
"I never betrayed you." Merlin insisted.
"So what do you call going behind my back my hooking up with my daughter?" Arthur bellowed.
Merlin tensed. "It wasn't just some out-of-the-blue hook up Arthur. It's more than that."
"Oh really? How long has this relationship being going on?"
"You heard Amity! A-"
"Fine then!" Arthur stopped Merlin, raising a gloved hand. "How long have you liked her?" Merlin bit his lip. "I'm waiting, Merlin."
"A couple of months." Arthur raised his eyebrow and continued to wait for Merlin to continue. "Fine, since I saw her after she became Queen and visited Camelot."
"So, about five, nearly six months." Arthur said quietly, his hands clenching. "And you never felt the need to tell me that you were having dirty thoughts about my daughter?"
"Oh, because that conversation would go great!" Merlin shouted kiddingly. "Hey Arthur! I like your daughter? Oh great, I'll just let you execute me! And when Gwen sees: what's that burning on a stake? Oh nothing, it's just Merlin!"
Arthur seemed to have calmed down slightly while Merlin spoke, as he was no longer raising his voice. "Just tell me, did you ever do anything to her when she was younger?"
"Why would I?" Merlin asked and Arthur just observed him.
"Are you really that oblivious?" Merlin literally had to bite his tongue to stop himself from making a rude retort referring to the King's oblivious nature. "Amity has had a crush on you since she came to Camelot?"
"What?" Merlin's jaw dropped.
Arthur gave him an incredulous look. "You know, she's liked you, ever since she arrived." Merlin stayed staring at him. "You did know this right?...wow, you really are an idiot."
"How would you know this?" Merlin said, shocked as Arthur pretended to act gob smacked.
"Wow Merlin, I'm not an idiot like you." Arthur snapped and Merlin rolled his eyes as the two men began to calm down. "It was obvious."
"And you never said anything because?" Merlin tilted his head.
"I thought it was some stupid little teenage infatuation. I thought it would end by the time she gained some sense and I never thought that you would one day return the feelings. I always imagined you settling down with some peasant, no actually, scratch that, I never thought you'd find a woman you could pay enough to actually want you." Arthur retorted.
"Thanks Sire." Merlin said sarcastically.
"You're welcome." Arthur smirked slightly, before sighing. "Fine, I suppose this relationship isn't too bad, as long as you aren't lying to me."
Merlin gulped at the narrowed eyes and glare Arthur threw his way. "No, we're not."
"Okay, I hate to be saying this, but if that's the case," Arthur took in a deep breath, "I'm glad it's you."
Merlin's jaw dropped…again. "What?"
"Not every man is an honourable man, even knights. Nobility doesn't make you a good person, as I'm sure you remember Gwaine preaching. I would prefer to see my ward happy in a loving relationship instead of her in a loveless marriage only built on what ties two kingdoms together. No man wants such a fate for his daughter, I hope Amy will find her own love too." Arthur said and Merlin slowly nodded. "But let me tell you this, if you hurt Amity in any way, I will hunt you down and kill you, magical or not. Am I clear?"
"Very." Merlin said quietly, stopping himself from shrinking away from Camelot's King who then nodded and began to walk away from him. "Does this mean you're not angry?" Merlin jumped when Arthur whirled around and glowered at him.
"Trust me Merlin, I am steaming, but I am only holding myself back from hitting you because you're better than some low life knight for my daughter. A Father doesn't want his child to face such a sad life, especially when he nearly faced it himself." Arthur said.
"Plus, Amity, Gwen and Morgana would kill you if you hit me. You would hate Gwen stopping you especially since she's your partner in bed-" There was a thwacking sound as Merlin shouted out in pain. "Ouch!"
"Merlin, if you finish that sentence, I swear to God, you will regret it." Arthur threatened.
Merlin rubbed his head. "I think I already am."
"Good." Arthur said shortly, before going to move away. "You can go now and bring Amity inside."
Merlin muttered something under his breath along the lines of "overprotective prat who hits for no good reason."
"I heard that! And I slightly patted you harder than required because of your crude humour!" Arthur yelled, grabbing the closest thing off the table in the courtroom, which turned out to be a pot of ink, and ditched it across the room at Merlin, who ducked as it shattered against the wall.
"Great Arthur! Someone's going to have to clean that up now!" Merlin complained.
"It'll be you if you don't get out of my sight in 3...2…" Merlin quickly raced out of the room, leaving Arthur alone and smirking, before the smirk slowly fell off his face and he gazed ahead of himself, looking deep in thought.
(Amity P.O.V)
I stood next to Gwen and Morgana, leaning against the wall beside the double door, as I tapped my fingers on my elbows as I crossed my arms.
"I have never been kicked out of my own courtroom." I muttered.
Gwen sighed. "Arthur hasn't told me to leave, either." She looked at me with a sympathetic expression. "He isn't happy. I haven't seen him that angry in quite a few years, Amity."
"When was the last time?" I asked out of curiousity.
Gwen bit her lip and shared a look with Morgana. "When I was engaged to Arthur…there was an incident." I waited for her to continue. "It was very stupid and I was foolish…Lancelot and I got drunk…very drunk, which is out of character, but I was happy. I was in love and marrying the man I loved. I was going to be Queen and rule beside Arthur. Lancelot said we could have a night where we could be friends and…I liked that. I didn't know what was going to happen, nor did I know that something in the wine had been changed. Do you know of Agravaine de Bois?"
I paused. The name is very familiar. "Isn't he the brother of Arthur's Mother?"
Gwen nodded. "Yes and he wanted revenge for his brother and his sister, who he felt were murdered by Uther. So, he came up with a cunning plan and betrayed Arthur, after gaining Arthur's trust. We had announced our engagement and Agravaine felt the perfect way to hurt Arthur was by making him believe that I betrayed him." Gwen swallowed thickly and her eyes watered, as Morgana reached forward and grabbed her hand, squeezing it. "He put an aphrodisiac into the wine Lancelot and I were drinking. Of course, the drug took control of us and Lancelot kissed me just as Agravaine conveniently lead Arthur into the room."
"What happened?" I asked, aghast.
"Arthur began to duel Lancelot and Agravaine believed he had a victory over us, but he was wrong. What Agravaine didn't expect was that the type of drug he used on us was also a poison if administered in particular amounts. It didn't poison Lancelot, but I'm smaller and my body mass isn't as great as Lancelot's. Right when Arthur went to call for the guards to take me away to the dungeons for adultery, I collapsed. Elyan had to catch me quickly and Gaius checked me, before finding his discovery and alerting Arthur."
"Then what?" I stared at Gwen who bit her lip.
"He went ballistic. Demanded to know who poisoned his fiancé and tried to set up the affair. Then, the evidence all pointed to Agravaine. He obviously denied it, but even Arthur couldn't turn a blind eye to his Uncle's behavior after a half empty bottle of the same drug was discovered in his chambers, along with some of the wine and a few other items associated with dark magic. I told Arthur my side of the story and Gaius questioned me on how I felt before and after the drug. He said that everything I described to have felt correlated to the drug's effect on a person. Arthur then interrogated his uncle and it was found there were a few slips in his cover-up and Arthur had no choice after that." Gwen stopped and her eyes were beginning to water.
"What did he have no choice about?" I quizzed.
Gwen shook her head so Morgana answered. "Arthur sentenced Agravaine to death. He was hung the next day. It nearly killed Arthur to do it, betray an Uncle like that, but he realized his Uncle had betrayed him just as much."
I went to continue to ask them more, but the doors opened and I jumped up straight, turning to see Merlin. Merlin gave me a small smile and walked towards me, grabbing my hands in his. "Arthur wants to speak to you."
I nodded and he slowly leaned forward and kissed my cheek. "Is he in an angry mood?"
Merlin winced. "Angry enough."
I sighed before giving Gwen and Morgana a small smile. "Wish me luck."
"Good luck." They whispered as Merlin let go of me and I entered my courtroom, the doors shutting behind me.
My eyes landed on a broken ink pot and spilt ink, before sighing. "Really Arthur? What did my ink do to you?"
Arthur had his back to me and he was tightly gripping my seat at the head of the table beside him. "Did I ever do something to deserve your deception, Amity?"
My jaw dropped. "No Arthur! Why would you-"
"Please, tell me now before I question myself." Arthur said coldly. His tone brought tears to my eyes. "Have you hated me for raising you? I could do nothing to stop your family's death – is it related to that?"
"No Arthur." I lowered my voice, my vision going blurry from tears. "Never."
"Then why did you lie to me?" He yelled.
I averted my eyes to the floor. "Because…"
"I'm waiting."
"Arthur, please, be considerate. See it from my point of view-"
"Oh don't pull that rubbish on me." Arthur faced me and I clasped my hands in front of myself. "I already had it from Merlin, not you too."
"Why question me if you won't let me speak?" I snapped.
"Because I don't want you to lie to me again!" Arthur shouted and I stared at him, as tears filled his eyes. "Where did I fail you? Tell me, so I can look at myself and know where I went wrong!"
"You didn't fail me." I said softly.
"Really? Because it doesn't feel that way to me." Arthur said darkly, crossing his arms over his chest. "And do you want to know something? It's not the fact that you're with my best friend that's really hurting me."
"It isn't?" I whispered.
"It's the fact that my daughter and my best friend lied to me." Arthur continued and tears began to dribble from the corners of my eyes.
"We were going to tell you. I promised." I said, moving closer to him.
"I shouldn't have had to learn when people you didn't even consider that close to you learnt, too." Arthur said and I slowly grabbed his hands into mine.
"That was not planned. It was an act of adrenaline and relief. We were going to tell you very soon! I promise! And the people weren't going to know until Merlin and I had courted for a month, maybe more!" I shook his hands slightly. "Please believe me when I say that I would never lie to you Arthur…at least, not on purpose. But not about something so personal. I promise!"
Arthur stared at me before sighing and nodding slightly. "Fine, I believe you."
I grinned at him and leapt into his arms, his chainmail didn't into my cheek, but I didn't care. Arthur's arms wrapped around me as I held onto him tighter, taking comfort from him. I felt a soft kiss to my forehead and smiled, shutting my eyes. "I'm sorry you found out like that."
"I'm sorry for overreacting." Arthur said, his hand coming up to stroke the back of my head. "It was very immature of me. However, there is just one thing I have left to say."
"Hmm?" I move back so that his arms were still around me, but we were looking at each other.
"If Merlin hurts you in anyway, you are to come straight to me and I'll sort it out." I went to complain, but Arthur continued. "But then again, if you hurt Merlin, Amity…I am not going to be amused."
"You care for him." I whispered.
"Now you're putting words into my mouth." Arthur rolled his eyes.
"It's true though." I said, grinning. "You're not denying it."
"Whatever you like to tell yourself." Arthur muttered and I beamed up at him, causing him to finally give in and smile. "Perhaps you should go and wash up." Arthur's eyes travelled down my dirt covered face to my tatty clothes.
"Yes, you too." I said, smirking at the dirt on his cheeks. We let go of each other, stepping back and smiling as Arthur quickly wiped away any tears which had built up in his eyes. "I'm sorry for hurting you, Arthur."
Arthur just shrugged. "It's over and done now. We'll move on."
"I like that idea." I said softly.
Arthur smirked. "Just no naughty times, especially in my chambers or in public places."
"Arthur!" I flushed red and Arthur chuckled.
"What? I know what goes on in relationships. I have been married for few years now-"
I groaned. "Arthur please, shut up. I don't what to know."
"However, just so we're clear and you do understand. When a man and a woman love each other-"
Oh no, I am so not doing the talk with Arthur! I let out a shriek and kicked at his shin, which Arthur ducked, laughing loudly before running after me as I sprinted out of the courtroom.
"Well, they obviously aren't too angry with each other." I heard Gwen say as we passed her, Morgana and Merlin, our laughter echoing around the halls.
I walked down the corridor, feeling sore in my muscle and joints after the battle yesterday, despite my deep sleep last night. Although, I did feel more refreshed after thoroughly washing myself and now dressed in a light blue satin dress. I made my way towards Gwen and Arthur's chambers after myself, Morgana and Gwen had said we'd meet up, and to even make it better, Arthur said he would babysit Amy…by himself. I turned around the corner when suddenly, someone reached out and grabbed my elbow, tugging me behind a pillar.
I gasped and went to defend myself when Merlin shushed me gently. "Shh, Amity, it's me."
"Wow, thanks for giving me a heart attack, Merlin." I hissed, my eyes wide.
Merlin gave me a sorry smile. "Pardon me for that, milady. Can I make amends?"
"There might be a way." I teased, as Merlin moved forward and softly put his lips against mine before I tilted my head away from him. "Sorry, Merlin, but Arthur said strictly no naughty times in public places."
"Good thing we're not very public right now." Merlin kidded, and went back in for another kiss, but I put a finger between our lips, grinning at him.
"No." I said simply.
Merlin groaned, his hands moving to wrap around my waist. "Vixen."
I giggled and winked at him. "And you like it."
"Are you sure about that?" Merlin joked and we both laughed, before catching our breaths. "Guess what's happening to me."
"What?" I asked, reaching up and cupping Merlin's cheek in the palm of my hand.
"I'm having other servants calling me 'my lord' and even offering to do my duties!" Merlin gave me an incredulous look. "One even bowed!"
"Well, you could possibly be the future king." I pointed out. "Of course they don't want to be on your bad side when you can go tattle to the Queen."
Merlin blushed. "You really think I'll be future King?"
I went red, but leaned our foreheads against each other's. "If my heart has anything to do with it, then yes. You will be."
I kissed Merlin again and stepped back. "Where are you going?"
"I'm meeting Gwen and Morgana for a girls' day out." I informed Merlin. "And I believe you have work to do."
"Yeah, yeah." Merlin waved it off, looking depressed, but soon afterward, my little push managed to get his spirits up. "Ok, next time I plan on being down in spirits, I'm definitely coming to you." He panted, trying to neaten his hair.
"Oh shush." I said, going red as I huffed and straightened my dress up, my lips swollen. Merlin's were also in the same condition.
"If you shut me up like you just cheered me up, then I'll definitely start talking more." Merlin leaned in. "Perhaps even yelling."
"Maybe another day, because I'm really running late now." I said, stepping back and making sure not to look at Merlin, for he'd give me one look that would break my composure.
"Do you have to?" Merlin whined and I gave in, looking at him.
"Yes." I said. "Now I have to go and you have work. Be good."
I winked at him before turning and walking out from behind the pillar, leaving Merlin by himself.
I sat at the head of the bed, in between Gwen and Morgana as we ate tarts and sweet bread. We had decided to go to my chambers instead of Gwen's after it would be easier for Arthur to babysit Amy there, where all her belongings already are. Morgana laughed loudly and Gwen grinned when I informed them about the experience with Merlin behind the pillar.
"So he pulled you behind the pillar? Just like that?" Morgana questioned.
I nodded. "Yes, and then he preceded to try and have some fun."
I flushed when Morgana wiggled her eyebrows and Gwen chuckled. "Did you?"
I smirked. "Yes, we had a little."
"Which pillar was this so I know not to go there?" Morgana teased and I yanked a spare pillow from behind us to throw at her. She ducked with her fast reflexes and caught it, throwing it at me. I quickly moved away from it and it hit an unsuspecting Gwen in the face.
"Sorry Gwen!" Morgana and I apologized, as she rolled her eyes.
"Honestly you two, how old are you?" She said, sounding firm although she had mirth in her eyes.
"You cannot talk, missy!" Morgana complained, pointing a half-eaten piece of sweet bread at Gwen. "Why don't you tell Amity just what naughty times you got up to in public with Arthur?"
Gwen went red and I raised my eyebrow. "What happened?"
Gwen cleared her throat. "Well…we might've had fun…in the armoury."
"The armoury!" I shouted and Gwen quickly shushed me.
"Careful, servants might overhear!" She whispered.
"I think they'd want to know to stay out of the armoury since I'm guessing it's been thoroughly deflowered." I retorted and Gwen went even redder. "Oh gosh Gwen, what else have you done?"
"I don't think you want to know." She muttered and I stared at her. "Fine…you know the throne in the throne room?"
"Oh my gosh!" I screamed, my eyes widening. "On the throne? Ill! That's disgusting, Guinevere! I thought you were innocent-"
There was a knock on the door and we jumped slightly. "Now you've done it." Gwen hissed and I smirked.
"Come in." I called and the door opened.
"Sorry to interrupt, your majesties." Soldier said, standing by the door. "However, there were complaints of screaming. I take it that it was merely you three being part of the female species?"
"Oi Soldier, I'd be careful if I were you. You've got three fighters in here and my sword is next to my bed." I said, grinning.
Soldier rolled his eyes. "No problems here? Good. I'll get going before the guard outside has a fit about going to a Queen's chambers. He literally begged me to enter because he felt it was improper."
"That's sweet." Morgana commented.
Soldier chuckled. "Yes, so sweet…not. Anyway, I'll leave you charming girls to it."
"Bye Soldier." We all said, before bursting into giggles once he left.
"I can't believe you made the guards send Soldier in here." Morgana snickered.
"Oh quiet, it was destined to happen." I said.
"Just like you and Merlin?" Morgana suggested innocently.
"Hey!" I blushed as Gwen and Morgana cackled. "Fine, laugh it away. So funny Morgana. I can't stop laughing. Ha. Ha. Ha. You're just hilarious. Not."
"I know." Morgana joked, flicking her long hair haughtily over her shoulder before we cracked into more laughter.
"I haven't laughed this hard in years." Gwen said, tears of laughter in her eyes.
"That's because you've been busy with something else hard." I winked at her and the girls mocked gasped.
"Amity!" Gwen chastised.
"Saying a dirty joke?" Morgana pretended to faint before they both sat up straighter.
"Never!" The said at the same time, before I stared at them.
"How did you two just do that?" I asked and they grinned.
"You'll never guess." Morgana smirked and I rolled my eyes.
"So Morgana, now Gwen and I are both taken…is there anyone who has taken your fancy?" I took a bite of some tart, enjoying its strong flavor.
"No." Morgana rushed to say and Gwen and I shared a look.
"You're denying ever staring at one of the Camelot knights?" I said as Gwen nearly chocked on the piece of sweet bread she was eating. "Because I saw something very interesting…involving you blushing."
"That never happened." Morgana denied.
"Sure…" I trailed off as Gwen leaned forward and we stared at Morgana.
Morgana pretended not to notice for a few moments, before giving in. "Will you two stop that?"
"Not until you tell us." Gwen sang teasingly.
"What she said." I smiled angelically at Morgana.
Morgana eyed us before sighing. "Fine, there is somebody."
"I knew it!" Gwen cried as I fist pumped the air.
"Who?" I pushed and Morgana bit her lip. "C'mon Morgana, don't leave us hanging!"
"Fine…it's…" Morgana looked around the room before her eyes landed back on myself and Gwen. "Leon."
"Leon?" I gasped and Gwen's eyes widened.
"What?" Morgana crossed her eyes defensively.
"I would've expected more…Gwaine." I mumbled.
"Or…Lancelot." Gwen continued.
Morgana shook her head. "Seriously? Yes, Gwaine's attractive but he's the biggest flirt around. Plus, he can't put two plus two together. And Lancelot? He is a no-go, Gwen, you know that!"
"But he is nice." I pointed out.
Morgana continued to shake her head. "Doesn't matter, he is still out of bounds and Leon's nice too!"
"Yeah, but he seems a little…tame for you." I stated.
"Well, one of us needs to be logical." Morgana said, shrugging and causing the three of us to laugh again.
"Does anyone else know?" Gwen queried and Morgana nodded.
"Merlin." She whispered.
"Merlin?" I practically shouted, only to be shushed with threats of guards going to enter again. Soldier would hate having his time constantly stopped to check on us.
"We are best friends." Morgana explained and I sighed.
"I suppose that's reasonable." I said, before smirking again. "So, how are we going to set you and Sir Leon up?"
(3rd Person P.O.V)
Arthur watched us his daughter chewed on the edge of her knitted blanket. Amy was crawling around on the floor, everyone now and then, pausing to chant out loudly, "Da! Da! Da!"
"That's me, baby girl." Arthur cooed, picking her up and kissing her forehead. "Daddy's here."
Amy continued to gurgle at him as Arthur started to bounce her up and down. She gave him a smile for that and he returned it, before leaning forward and blowing raspberries on her stomach. Her giggles echoed around the chambers along with the sounds of his game.
"Da! Da! Da! Da!" Amy clapped her hands as Arthur slowly lowered her unto his lap.
He leaned against the edge of his bed, the blanket they were sitting on was spread across the floor at the end of the bed, Amy's toys tossed all over it.
"Who is Daddy's little princess?" Arthur said as she continued to clap. "Amy is!"
Amy's noises got louder as she grabbed Arthur's shirt in her small fists. She then moved forward and burrowed her face into the material of his shirt. Arthur felt his shirt get wet where she was drooling, but he did nothing to stop her. "Where's Amy gone?"
Amy giggled and poked her head up, her hair getting messy. "Da!"
"There's Amy!" Arthur exclaimed, as if shocked. She then placed her head against his chest again. "Where is Amy?" Amy didn't move as fast as she had last time, so Arthur beamed and pretended to become frightened. "Oh no! My little girl has disappeared! I can't find my Amy! Where is she? Amy? Amy!" Arthur smiled as Amy twittered against his chest and she began to tighten her grip on his shirt. "Amy? I've lost my little girl…oh well, I suppose I'll have to go and get some lunch then…"
"No Dada!" Amy cried, sitting up suddenly.
Arthur stared at her, shocked for a few moments, before a huge grin came across his face. "Amy, you said another word! Oh, my smart, smart baby!" He then started to place kisses all over Amy's face as she giggled and wrapped her short arms around Arthur's neck.
"Dada!" She smiled at him and Arthur allowed her to calm down from laughter, as he smiled at her.
"Daddy loves you, Amy." He said, as she reached up and grabbed his nose. "Argh! Amy!"
"Dada!" She squealed, before throwing herself into his arms.
Arthur kissed the top of her head, holding her tightly as the door opened and Merlin entered. "Arthur, do you…oh, cute."
"Merlin." Arthur growled warningly. "Say anything and-"
"I'll regret it. Yeah, you say the same thing every time." Merlin said, before walking over to the King and Princess of Camelot. "How is little miss Amy today?"
Amy looked up at Merlin and reached out to the warlock. Merlin laughed and took her from Arthur, raising her and twirling her around, causing her to laugh. "Be careful Merlin." Arthur warned, standing up and wincing at the damp spots on his shirt.
"I will be. Plus, Amy likes it, don't you, Amy?" Merlin said, before he held her in one arm before chanting, his eyes going gold before pink butterflies started to fly around Amy.
The little girl started to babble happily, although the two men could understand. She reached up to the butterflies and smiled when one landed on her nose. Merlin grinned and placed her onto the blanket on the ground, before turning to Arthur.
"Need any help, Sire?" He asked, as Arthur went to change his shirt.
"Get me a clean shirt, will you? This shirt is soaked from her drool." Arthur commanded as Merlin went to the wardrobe.
"She's starting to teeth, isn't she?" Merlin said.
Arthur grunted as Merlin handed him a clean shirt. "She is, kept me and Gwen up last night with her crying. Poor thing."
Merlin hid his grin at the King's softness for his daughter by putting the dirty shirt into the basket of dirty laundry. Arthur finished changing and came out from behind the change screen as Merlin turned around. "Better now?"
"Much." Arthur said. "Now, Amy, we're going to go-" Arthur cut off, his eyes widening. "Amy?"
Merlin turned at the panicked tone and saw that the blanket which had Amy on it was now only covered by dolls. "Oh dear."
"Oh dear? Merlin, my daughter has disappeared!" Arthur shouted. "You fool! You were meant to be watching her!"
"We'll find her, Arthur." Merlin said, before he looked at the doorway, "she'll be here, somewhere-"
Merlin finished suddenly and Arthur faced him. "What now?"
"The door…is open." Merlin whispered, as he and Arthur shared a horrified look, before starting their search at a much more frantic pace.
(Amity P.O.V)
"I best get some work done." I sighed, lying down instead of sitting, as Gwen and Morgana lay down beside me, the three of us cuddling.
"I know how it feels." Gwen said sympathetically when I groaned after attempting to sit up.
"I don't want to." I moaned.
"You have to. You're Queen, you can't just walk around all day wearing pretty dresses." Morgana said and I gave her a fake glare.
"You sure about that?"
"Positive." Morgana replied, sitting up and getting off the bed, quickly neatening her dress. "Come on, Amity, get up."
"No." I whined, as Morgana went silent for a few moments.
"I'm giving you one last chance."
"Get lost, Morgana." I snapped.
"Fine, you leave me no choice." Suddenly, cold water was poured onto me and I screamed, leaping off the bed before tripping over my dress and falling to the floor in a heap.
Gwen and Morgana went into hysterics, as I grouchily got off the floor, soaking wet. "Thanks for that."
I turned around a door, smoothing down my wet hair after Gwen had combed it for me. I had changed into a yellow silk dress and was a little dryer now. I kept walking before hearing an odd gurgling noise. I stopped walking, listening as the noise got louder. It came from behind me, so I turned around.
"Hello? Is anybody there?" I called out, but the only response was the gurgling getting louder. "Show yourself."
The cooing kept growing in volume, before I slowly began to realise it was familiar. I strode towards the sound, looking around the corridor, my jaw dropping at the sight in front of me. I looked around me for an explanation for the reason why Amy was crawling around the corridors of my castle, more importantly, by herself.
"Amelia Pengdragon, just what do you think you're doing?" I questioned firmly, marching towards her and picking up the little girl. "Why on Earth are you not with your Father?"
Amy started to babble. "Da! Da! Da! Da!"
"Yes, exactly, Daddy. Where is he?" She continued to babble. I sighed and picked up the little girl, whose arms wrapped around my neck immediately and she snuggled her face into the crevice between my jaw and neck. "Why did I bother asking?"
I walked down the corridor to Gwen and Arthur's chambers, before smiling down at Amy when we got to the door, leaning closer to her. "Want to play a game on Daddy and Merlin, Amy?"
She nodded and continued to gurgle as I gently shushed her. I didn't bother knocking, as I snuck inside, seeing that Merlin and Arthur were tearing apart the room as they loudly searched. "Shhh." I whispered to Amy, sneaking to the corner of the room where Arthur's changing screen was, picking up Amy's toy bear (something Arthur insisted she had) off the floor on my way. She beamed up at me as I put her down and gave her the toy as she started to bite on its ear. I grinned before slowly making my way to the door and opening on it, knocking the on the door. Merlin and Arthur jumped, whirling around to face me.
"Merlin, Arthur, I do hope I'm not coming at a bad time?" I said innocently, eying the messy scene in front of me.
"No, not at all." Arthur said, looking very awkward.
"So…" I pretended to be looking around the room. "How are you?"
"Fine." Arthur's voice was higher than usual. "Just fine, aren't we Merlin?"
Merlin nodded and gave me a very tense smile. "Yes. We're perfect."
"That's not what your chamber suggests, Arthur." I muttered, moving further into the room and picking up a white shirt off the floor, before folding it and placing it on the back of a chair. "Are you missing something?"
"Missing something?" Arthur shook his head. "Don't think so."
"That's funny." I bit my lip, as if I was confused. "I thought you were babysitting Amy…where is she?"
"Amy…" Arthur mumbled.
I nodded. "Yes, your daughter Amy. You know, the little girl nearly a year old?"
"I know Amy!" Arthur said, giving me a very fake grin. "She's…ah…tell Amity where Amy is, Merlin."
Merlin glared at Arthur before turning to me as I waited expectantly. "Amy is…with Gaius."
"With Gaius?" I sounded surprised. "Since when?"
"Since I had a very sudden training session with the knights." Arthur lied and I had to hand it to the men, if it weren't for their very obvious facial expressions, I would've considered them good liars.
"And I was busy with my work." Merlin added.
"And a battlefield is no place for a little baby girl." Arthur shrugged. "So Gaius offered and I accepted."
"That's very strange, you see, I just heard from Soldier that Gwaine and Percival have spent the morning nursing their sore heads from a fun night in the tavern. Elyan is with Lancelot joining some of my guards in the patrols on the borders. Leon was giving Morgana a draught to help her sleep better and you, are not in your training gear, nor is it in this pile of mess you call your chambers. So Arthur, are you going to tell me the truth?" I picked up the shirt off the back of the chair and walked to the change screen, where behind it was a basket for dirty washing.
I smirked when I saw Amy in her hiding spot, still playing with her toy as I put the shirt in the basket and picking her up, still behind the screen. "You say that Amy is with Gaius?"
"Yes, she is." Arthur tried to cover the waver in his voice by clearing his throat.
"That's odd, you see," I walked out from behind the change screen, Amy in my arms, "she was just playing behind the change screen."
Both Merlin and Arthur paled. "Oh, I forgot to say that Gaius returned her just before you arrived."
"Really?" I made my way forward and held Amy out to Arthur, who took her and held her close. "So that's why I found her crawling and up and down the halls?"
The two men paused, horrified. Eventually, Arthur spoke. "You knew?"
I rolled my eyes. "Of course I knew Arthur Pendragon. I'm not an idiot and I did come across her. What were you thinking? Allowing her to crawl around the castle like that? She's a baby."
"I didn't let her. She let herself!" Arthur argued.
"She is a baby, Arthur. You're her Father." I retorted, before crossing my arms over my chest. "Look, I didn't come here to fight, I just came to give her back to you. A thank you would be very appreciated."
Arthur sighed. "Fine, thank you and sorry, Amity, we were just a little stressed."
"Merlin wasn't biting my head off." I pointed out, before going to Arthur and kissing Amy's little cheek as she smiled at me.
"Yes, and Merlin views you in a completely different manner to how I do." Arthur muttered.
"Now, be a good girl for Daddy, Amy. I have to go to do more work. Bye." I said to Amy, before standing up straighter.
Arthur leaned forward and kissed my forehead and I turned to Merlin. Merlin went to kiss my cheek before I turned my head and he got my lips instead. He pulled away quickly, going bright red and his eyes went to Arthur who was glowering at us.
"Bye." I smirked, reaching down and squeezing Merlin's hand before sauntering out of the room. Merlin won't be pleased, but a girl can have some fun, right?
That's it for this chapter! Sorry for how long it took to update! Thank you to everyone who reviewed! I still can't believe I've gotten over 200 reviews, plus, I have 64 followers and 43 favourites! Argh, thank you, thank you, thank you! Now, time for reviews!
SweetShySecrets – Thank you so much for being so kind! Haha, of course Amity would live, I have killed off Constantine and Mark, I'm not evil enough to kill off her (plus, it'd be really stupid to kill of the main character…but that didn't stop me from using some near death experiences). I did sort of picture it like a movie scene. That scene has been in my head since chapter one and I have been so excited to write it! Awww, your reviews make me smile so much! Thanks for loving my fanfic and reviewing again!
bilboswaggins2 – Aww, thank you for being so sweet and kind and lovely again! Haha, you are also an amazing writer and I also love your story! What did you think of Arthur's reaction to the kiss? I think I might put some more of Arthur's feelings relating to Amity and Merlin's relationship later…just an idea. Haha, I'm glad you didn't get in trouble for screaming. Yes, the perils of having family members who look like attractive actors...while the family members minus the attractive part :P Someday someone will have to ask Bradley that question! AND I KNOW RIGHT, HOW CAN HE GET AWAY WITH SO MUCH AND LEAVE SO MANY GIRLS PRATICALLY IN LOVE? I can't do that either, nor am I going to give him an ugly pill. That would be evil for everyone…my inner fangirl has a lot to say :P My writers block is fading! Which is good because it really sucked last time *big hug and loads of love returned* thank you for reviewing AGAIN! You're amazing!
Destiny Xavier16 – I'm glad you liked it! Arthur was confused, but also very hurt. I felt a bit sorry for him. Thanks for reviewing again!
Lbunny – You are so sweet! I'm glad you liked the scenes! Arthur did give Merlin the if you hurt you I will kill her overprotective Dad speech, but then again, he also did tell Amity the overprotective best friend speech :P Thanks for reviewing again!
Amy – Aww, thanks for liking their kiss! Haha, I decided to be a little evil with the whole 'Amity is dead' thing, but you soon might consider me even more evil for what I'm about to do. Yes, Arthur knowing is a little awkward for them. What did you think of his reaction? You'll just have to see who the 'innocent one' is…you might hate me after I show who it is…but you don't have to wait long (I think it'll be in the next chapter and you'll find out then). Aww, I'm glad you liked that the Dragon made an appearance and Hunith will come soon! I promise! I'm sorry to hear about the death in the family. I hope you're alright! If you need anyone to talk to, you know my Twitter account where you can message me! Thanks for liking the battle scene and reviewing again!
221b has a tardis – Haha, I'm glad you liked the ending and what Arthur said! Aww, thanks for reviewing and loving my fic!
xlydiax – I'm glad you liked the cliff hanger and found Arthur's reaction funny. Haha, I needed the luck for my assignments :P Thank you for reviewing again!
