So it probably seems like this story is just going to keep going forever. There is an end in sight. I've finally figured out how and when I want to end it, and I think it will be good. Don't worry, it's not just yet. But it's getting close. Enjoy. It's time for mystery guy to be revealed!

SEPTEMBER 27

I heard Merlin walk into the apartment, the girls trailing along behind her. Well, two of the girls. She had Kenzie in her arms, to keep our youngest daughter from running away. That's what I assumed, anyway, seeing as Kenzie was trying to squirm out of her mother's arms. She had a tendency to try to run out of the apartment and the apartment building and onto the street, if she could. She'd never actually made it out of the apartment building, thank goodness. It helped that we lived on the second floor and she had to contend with an elevator that she didn't know how to operate. And she didn't know where the stairs were, so she never got far.

Sighing, Merlin put Kenzie down. My daughter raced toward the door, seeing an escape route. Before she could run out into the hallway, the door closed, almost as if on its own. I loved Merlin's magic. Our daughters had such a hard time getting away with stuff with their mother around.

Kenzie frowned. "Mommy," she whined.

"No, Mackenzie. You can't run out in the hall. Why don't you go get your pillows and blankets, and you girls can build a fort in the living room."

There was a chorus of "Yay!" as the three girls raced into their room. I raised my eyebrows at my wife as she sat beside me on the couch.

"You seem annoyed."

"They've been loud the entire way home. Morgana and her boyfriend got them pretty hyped up just before I got there to pick them up."

My eyes narrowed. "Wait. You've met Morgana's boyfriend? What the heck? I'm her brother! And she's known the guy for almost two years! Yet I don't even know his name! Even after nine months of dating! This is crap." I was kind of…hurt, to be honest. I mean, Morgana and I didn't tell each other everything, not by a long shot. But this was something big, and she wouldn't normally keep something like this hidden from me. I just didn't get why she was keeping it such a big secret, from everywhere. She'd even been secretive with Gwen, from what Gwen had told me. She never kept secrets from Gwen. "How did you even find out about him?"

"She thought I was coming a little later to pick up the girls."

"Tell me something about the guy. Please."

"His name is Mordred Druid."

"What's he like? Is he a nice guy? Why is she so hesitant to tell me anything?"

Merlin shrugged. "Well, she knows that you won't exactly be happy about them being together."

I narrowed my eyes even further. "Why?"

"Arthur –"

"Merlin," I growled. "Tell me. I'm sick of this. I'm sick of not knowing."

She sighed. "I suppose she didn't tell me that I couldn't say anything to you. And if I don't, I'm sure one of the girls will. Okay, he's younger than her, for one."

"Okay. How much younger? One year? Two?"

"More like…six. He turned nineteen in June. So when she first met him, he was only seventeen. He was in high school still, but he was taking some college classes his senior year. That's how they met. On campus. They didn't actually have any classes together, but they did have some classes that were right next to each other, and they'd talk as they waited for their teachers to show up."

I frowned. Okay, that was a little weird. But not that weird. I could handle my sister dating a younger guy. "Yeah, but he was at least eighteen by the time they started dating, back in December. I mean, it's weird, a little. But they're both old enough. I guess six years isn't that big of a deal in the long run. Is that the only reason she hasn't said anything? Because honestly, I don't think that's a good enough reason to hide him for so long."

"He…also has magic. She knows that you don't have a problem with it, obviously. But she's worried about how your dad will eventually take it. She's not planning to tell him anytime soon, but…"

I was a little stunned. Okay, more than a little stunned. "He has magic?" I wasn't upset. Of course I wasn't. How could I be? My wife and two youngest daughters had magic. If I had been upset, I would be the worse hypocrite in the world. I was just surprised, though I really shouldn't have been. I knew Merlin and her father and uncle couldn't be the only people in the world with magic. I'd just never met anyone else.

Merlin nodded. "He's pretty powerful, too. I knew it as soon as I saw him. I could sense it. Which means that he could sense my magic, too."

"How serious are they?"

"Pretty serious. I think that's why she's so worried about it. She loves him, and she really wants him to be accepted, by everyone in your family. She doesn't want it to be messed up, so she's trying to wait for the right time. I think she's being a little silly. She should introduce him, officially, to you and your parents. She doesn't have to say anything about the magic."

Before I could say anything else, my three daughters returned to the living room, grunting as they lugged their bedding with them.

I know that some of you think that Mordred is a weird choice. Honestly, though, until he went all Dark Side crazy, I actually really liked Mordred. If that whole drama with the girl had never happened, he probably would have stayed a really cool guy. And even though he's younger than Morgana (I'm not sure by how much in the show, probably more than six years, but that was as big of a gap as I could make work in this fanfic), I always thought they had a good connection. I mean, it was mostly because he was the first person she'd really known with magic, but still. I have a hard time actually picturing Morgana with someone. Except Mordred, as weird as that may sound. And I decided to go ahead and give him magic, because he always had magic in the show. He was introduced as a magical person, and it just seemed weird to not give him magic.

I am planning a reveal to Uther somewhat soon. I just have to decide whether Uther should find out about Merlin's, Maddison's, Mackenzie's and Mordred's magic all at the same time? Hmm…I never noticed. There seems to be something magical about the letter M. I hadn't even realized that with the twins. Maybe I should have given Morgana magic. Anyway, I don't usually ask my readers about what they think should happen…But I want to hear your opinions on this. When Merlin reveals her own magic to Uther (as well as the twins's), should Mordred's magic also be revealed? Or should his magic be revealed later? Tell me what you think!
