Chapter 37: Family Reunion
It seemed like everyone in Storybrooke was celebrating the Wicked Witch's defeat in Granny's Diner. Belle and Mr. Gold were not in attendance. They were off In the woods having a private wedding officiated by Dr. Hopper. After a few hours of socializing and telling the story of how she stopped Zelena, Regina managed to locate Tinker Bell.
"You lied." Regina said.
"What are you talking about?" Tink asked.
"The man with the lion tattoo. He's over there." Regina said pointing to Robin Hood with his wife Marian and their son Roland. "He's not my one true love. He's married and has a son."
"Destiny is a funny thing Regina. You never know what will end up happening." Tink said. "Perhaps their love isn't true and one day you will be together."
"I doubt that." Regina said with a tone of anger. "Look how happy they are. You were wrong."
"I stole the best fairy dust for you. I lost my wings because of you. I wouldn't have gone to all that trouble if I thought it wouldn't work. I was right and that man is your one true love." Tink said.
"Maybe you're right." Regina said. "But I'd feel better if Marian was out of the picture."
"What are you saying Regina?" Tink said. "You're not going to kill her are you?"
"I didn't say that." Regina said.
"Good." Tink said. "Remember, you're not that person anymore. You're a hero in your son's eyes, not some monster who kills people that she thinks are standing in the way of her happy ending."
"I have to go." Regina said so she could avoid the responding to that. Of course the thought had crossed her mind, but Tink would know if she was lying.
Regina walked up to Alice, Cyrus, Will, Anastasia, and the White Rabbit, who were all sitting in a booth together.
"I need your help." Regina said.
"With what?" Anastasia asked.
"I have to go to Wonderland and use Zelena's power to free Hook and the other genies and I don't know where they are." Regina said.
"I do." Anastasia said. "They're in my castle."
"So let's go." Regina said.
"In a minute." Anastasia said. "The Rabbit is coming too. It's time I released his family."
"Thank you, your majesty." The White Rabbit said.
"Don't call me that." Anastasia said. "At least don't call me that until I really am a good Queen. I've done Wonderland no favors, but that's going to change. The people there need a better leader. I'm going to take back my castle and start ruling like a proper Queen."
"We want to go too." Alice said.
"My brothers were also turned into genies." Cyrus said. "There's a chance that Jafar had them and I want to know."
"Alright." Regina said.
The small group walked outside and Regina used her ultimate powers to directly open a portal to the top room of Anastasia's castle in Wonderland. Stepping through a portal seemed easier then jumping down a rabbit hole. When they all stepped through, they noticed that Zelena had changed everything in the room that was once red to green. The first thing Anastasia did was change the color from Zelena's green to a bright white color.
"I thought you were the Red Queen." Alice said.
"Not anymore." Anastasia said. "White symbolizes purity, happiness, and peace, three things that I will bring to Wonderland as the White Queen."
Anastasia then waved her arms and three small rabbits suddenly appeared in a puff of magic smoke. The White Rabbit immediately recognized these rabbits as his wife and children and ran speedily to hug them.
"Thank you Anastasia." The White Rabbit said.
"This is the start of a new age for Wonderland." Anastasia said.
"Where are the genies?" Regina asked.
"In those three bottles on the table." Anastasia said.
Regina walked over to the table and extended her hands over the bottle and concentrated. Soon, the three bottles started to shake until the completely broke apart and shattered onto the table. Then, three magic clouds of smoke rose up from the table and landed on the floor. When the smoke cleared, Captain Hook, and two other young men stood finally free of their genie bonds. Cyrus recognized these other two men as his brothers Taj and Rafi and was thrilled to see them alive again. They were also glad to see him and embraced each other in a tight hug.
It was now that the genies were free that the three genies spell was undone. Regina could feel all the power that the spell had given Zelena release itself from her pendant. Only Zelena's previous powers now remain within it.
"What's going on?" Hook asked.
"To make a very long story short," Regina said, "I stopped Zelena and freed you and the other genies."
"What about Jafar?" Hook asked.
"Jafar is trapped in the past and now that the three genies spell has been lifted, the laws of magic apply to him so he can never come back to the present." Regina said.
"Isn't it dangerous leaving him in the past?" Hook asked.
"Nothing's changed." Regina said. "Our timelines and memories are still in tact. Jafar must not have done anything to affect us. So we're just leaving him there."
"What about his staff?" Hook asked, referring to the magical snake staff that Jafar had left on the bed. Once Jafar cast the three genies spell, he didn't need the extra power of the staff to get what he wanted and just left it there.
"I'll take it." Regina said.
Regina tried to pick up the staff, but the eyes on it started to glow a very bright red, so she backed off.
"Allow me to try." Cyrus said. "The staff is from Agrabah. So am I. It might work for me."
Cyrus then picked up the staff without any trouble.
"How did you know it'd let you touch it?" Will asked.
"I don't know." Cyrus said. "I just got this feeling. There's something special about this staff."
"Put the staff down." Regina said. "I have a spell that might help us figure this out."
Cyrus put the staff down and let Regina focus her magic on it.
"What are you doing?" Alice asked.
"Using a special spell that will reveal any secrets hidden within the staff." Regina said.
Suddenly, the staff became consumed by a purple smoke. When the smoke cleared, a beautiful, dark haired woman stood in its place.
"Mother!" Cyrus and his brothers said almost simultaneously.
"My sons!" The woman said as she hugged the three boys.
"I don't understand." Alice said.
"Alice," Cyrus said, "this is my mother."
"My name is Amara." Cyrus' mother said. "Jafar imprisoned me in that staff so he could use my power to help him cast the three genies spell. Then, he decided to work with Peter Pan before ultimately casting the spell with the Wicked Witch."
"Alice is my fiancé," Cyrus said, "and she's pregnant with our child."
"I am honored to meet you." Amara said.
"Rabbit," Alice said, "could you kindly dig us all a hole back to Storybrooke?"
"I'll go too." Anastasia said. "I'm going to help Will look for his heart before I stay permanently in Wondeland."
The White Rabbit then dug a hole and brought everyone back to Storybrooke.
