"Leave her to Gluybn?"
She shrugs. "They say he is a good lover."
"Kathy said other wise."
The woman gave then a pointed look. "She fears what we are. She fears all sexual things. Because her forsaken mother taught her such. Gluybn would teach her to love it."
Eric sneered. This was nothing Kathy would want. Godric turned, meaning to leave. He wouldn't listen.
"I love Mvli," she speaks up. The men glance to her. She huffs, hip cocking as she stubbornly admits the next. "And I know Mvli loves her. He wants her freedom as much as she does."
"You would still damn her for your own selfishness?" Godric speaks up.
"That's not what I meant." She shot him a furious look. The look of a scared woman. "I'm incapable of birthing a child. She can. If she has the child, I want to keep it."
"Kathy would never agree."
"Then you make her," the woman snaps, her patience was running thin. "A number of us hate the way our people work. We have tried to go about it other ways. It doesn't work. We are so few because of it. We killed ourselves. Not your kind."
She glances towards the woods again, as if searching to ensure they were not listened in on. "Mvli would allow it. If she is bound to him, has the child, she can come back. She wont have to stay."
"Where do we come in?" Eric says after thinking this over.
"That." She pointed at the cloth in his hand. "She has given you more items I would bet my life on. She's been setting this up for a long time."
Eric frowns at the thing in his hands. Godric glances to Eric. All eyes were on him now. That useless item was far more important.
"You have the closest bond to her. By your smell and her own, she is nearly yours."
"Eric, we cannot do this."
"She has been hinting to this for a while," Eric snips to his maker. "How can we not?"
"She must remain. It would be cruel to let her birth a child to never love as her own."
"She didn't want children of her own."
Godric looks sadly at his childe. "Every woman wants children, no matter what comes from their mouth."
The woman watches the exchange, frowning a bit again. "I need to know. Think on it. Gather the things she has given you. I will come again in a weeks time to inform you when she is impregnated."
Eric gritted his teeth. The woman glances towards the woods. "I will give her the mercy of a ginger paste."
"Ginger?"
Godric's eyes flash a bit wide. "There is no way to prove that she will be the same after."
"I'm not as idiotic as that," she snarls at him. "We use it on few, but we have a way to lessen the effects. She will think it all but a dream."
"There is no way to make that a sure bet," Eric cuts. "Kathy is very stubborn."
"As am I," the woman says before taking off at a speed to rival Kathy's.
The men stood there, thinking it over. Godric looked toward Eric. Eric's face was blank, but the pain in his eyes was enough. Godric rested a hand on Eric's arm, gentle as a father. Eric didn't look down at him. Eric looked to the cloth in his hand.
"There is a high possibility this will work," Godric speaks softly. "Raw ginger is a hallucinogenic for her kind. If she gives her the paste soon, she will think it all but a nightmare. If she gives it too late, she will be haunted by if far more than the original ordeal."
"IF she returns, how will she survive without dying as she was before?" Eric asks through gritted teeth, eyes shut as he thought of this possibility.
"If she is bound, she will draw power through Mvli. As long as he is within her realm, it will be as if she were. Two into one. A true wedding of the beings."
Eric slowly opens his eyes, looking to the man he had called by many names. Godric was so calm, trusting this heavy choice upon him.
"You have until she returns to decide. Think upon it."
With that, Godric turned and walked away. He did not look back as he moved for the black car that Kathy had loved so. No. He paused as his hand rested on the handle, head bowing a moment before he moved inside of the vehicle and drove off. IT was odd, seeing that car driven by another. It was odder yet to see it driven with such care and low speeds. Kathy loved the feel of the winds in her hair, the purr of that engine.
Kathy…
No. Katnymel zo Cre Mvlictow. The woman who had helped save his maker. The woman who had stormed his life and touched so many lives. Could he take this kind of a gamble with her life? Why would she trust him with this kind of responsibility? In all the years Eric had remained, no other had trusted him with this kind of weight.
In all his years, Eric had never had to think over a decision of this ordeal. Especially when it was another's life. Eric would damned so many for himself. Kathy, delicate Kathy. Eric frowned as he thought of her. He had spent so many nights actually watching her. When she worked, he would watch. It had started as a way to ensure that she didn't get hurt. He hadn't done it for her at first. He had done it for his maker. She made his maker happy. She made his maker stay longer than that month he had promised.
It was Kathy that made Godric decide to stay for as long as she would. Eric stopped, eyes widening at that thought. Godric had mentioned, when he still thought her life span as short, that he would leave when Kathy did. If he didn't bring her back, would Godric leave too? Kathy would still be alive. Would that not be enough?
Eric growled again as all this other things that had seemed so simple before suddenly made this decision far more complex than he had thought.
A/N: Typically I would put this note at the top, but I felt it was enough of a delay with my lack of an update. I'm a bit iffy on how I am playing this. Do feel free to tell me if I was too OoC on Eric. If this doesn't feel right to you all. Don't hesitate to message me or review your thoughts. It's your support that pushes my muse. I would also like to thank all of those who have added this story to their favs and follows. You may not be giving the words on how you feel about this story, but it is clear to me. You wouldn't fav or follow something if you didn't have at least the smallest bit of liking for it. Thank you all again.
