The Half – Chapter 37: Chase
Her breaths came heavier, the more she ran. Her pursuers still on her trail, and had not been ones to shake off. Somehow they had kept up at a closer pace than she had anticipated. But then again, she was not one who ran often, and especially for the reasons of escaping Kou soldiers. Luckily ,her leg muscles had healed and her body was in the same shape as prior to her encounter in meeting Judal. The same person who had now sent out not only her capture, but a rough sketch as to what she looked like. Her chances of slipping away from them were even less, when they knew what she was to look like. More detail as to why Judal was after her, other than for the sake of wanting, was unclear to her, and for the moment, she didn't care. All she knew was to keep running to avoid being taken to Kou for whatever thing was to await there for her.
It had taken some time, but she finally had made it back to the building where Sinbad was holding his meeting. She had spent half her time, away from Sinbad, running about the city, to try and shake off the soldiers, as well as try to make it back to the building. Throwing open the front doors to the building as she searched quickly around her. The sight of Sinbad was one that she could not lock on, nor was the sight of the person who led him to the room around. But another who worked there, was present.
"Where is Sinbad!?" she demanded in a fluster as she looked back to the door, and then to the slim fit man who stood in front of her.
"He is still in his meeting, may I ask as to what you may need?" he asked, calmly, not even taking note to the fact that she acted as though she were in trouble of some kind.
"Where is his room!?" she demanded,
"It's just down the hall and to the left-" he started, and was cut off as Kyo took off running down the way he mentioned. She had to hide somewhere in order to get away, and without Sinbad around, she couldn't even ask for help, not even to use the help of the Djinns that he harnessed. Her breathing rapidly sped up in hurry as she turned the corner, almost slipping on the tile floor. A long row of doors on either side was displayed in her eyes, as she then began to look for an unlocked door. She could hear the Kou men asking for her, and would soon be on her tail once more.
"One of these has to be open…!" she growled and tried several doors, having luck upon the 5th one. "Yes!" she cheered lightly and rushed in, shutting the door behind her with much haste.
"Check every room." She head as she listened at the door. Her breathing still at a fast pace as she tried to calm down, and then locked the door, stepping away from it, backwards. After a few steps away from the door, she began to hear the soldier's open doors and ask for her. They would most likely find her sooner than she wanted.
Kyo turned to face into the room and looked around. Luckily there was no one else there, and the room was empty. But it showed no real place to hide. The bed was something laid out upon the floor, as if there were to be a theme within the room of simpler life styles. A set of three large windows was to the back wall, and her only way out, other than the front door.
"How do I get Sinbad's attention?!" she panicked slightly, trying to look for anything. She ran to the middle window and looked out. It over looked a small garden like area, where a set of two Kou soldiers walked about, as if on their break. "They're everywhere!" she complained and then looked upward to the floor above her. She was on the side of the building, where not many of the modern day people would see her. But there was still not room to escape from more Kou men.
BANG BANG BANG
Kyo sun around to face the door as there was no hesitation to yell:
"In the name of Kou, open this door!" they banged again.
"No choice…" she decided, and stepped through the window and into the garden area, where she quickly examined and then found a way up to the next floor. But not without catching the attention of the Kou men who were in the area as well.
"Hey! What are you doing!?" they demanded to know, and made chase after as well. The men from the room, had finally kicked their way through the door and into the room. Their attention turned instantly to the windows as well as they looked out to see some of their comrades going after the same woman.
The half Djinn had somehow managed to get to the second floor where it was a long hallway, and not filled with windows for rooms. She had had to pull herself over the stone made railing as she ran down the outside hallway.
"Stop, you!" she heard from below, but would laugh later at the thought of actually stopping for them. She made no mention of responding to them as she ran into the opened doorway into the building from the hall.
To be continued….
