I'm so glad you all enjoyed the last chapter. Here is another one for your reading pleasure;) Enjoy!
Disclaimer: As always, I own nothing of these characters. I'm just having fun.
"Jane, honey, come here please!" I yell out for my wife, seeing as the kitchen sink is clogged and I need her to fix it so I can use it. I don't hear a response so I try again.
"Honey!" I yell out a bit louder. I hear a thump come from upstairs and a minute later Jane is at the top of the stairs rubbing her head.
"Ya, Maur?" she asks as she makes her way down into the kitchen and over to me.
"Are you okay?" I ask, concerned for her. I can tell she's in pain.
"Just hit my head on the bedside table as I fell off the bed when you yelled for me." She says with a grimace. I gently grab her head and pull it down to inspect. I feel slightly and she hisses in pain before pulling away.
"Owe!" she yells, causing me to jump slightly.
"I'm sorry baby, you just hit a tender spot." She says apologetically.
"Well I'll say. You have a small hematoma on your head sweetheart. Let me get you some ice to put on it." I say as I make my way over to the freezer. I pull out the frozen ice bag I have in there and hand it to her. I give her a kiss on the cheek as well causing her to smile.
"Thanks Maur. So what did you need?" she asks, reminding me about the sink.
"Oh yes, the sinks clogged and I need you to fix it." I say, giving her a slight grimace at the fact the sinks clogged.
"Again, seriously! I told you not the let Ma peel potatoes in the sink. She tries to shove them down the disposal. Ugh!" Jane groans before heading over and inspecting the sink.
"Dammit!" she says as she throws the cupboard doors open under the sink. More groans and curse words come out from under there as she tinkers. A second later she comes back up, a scowl on her face, and makes her way to the backdoor.
"I'm going to get my tools." She grumbles, knowing exactly what I was going to ask. Even though she's mad, I find myself chuckling at her behavior. I know she's not mad at me, but at her mother for the potato peels. Angela came over last night and cooked dinner for us.
We stayed up late and had wine, well Angela did. I had orange juice and Jane had a beer. We talked about the baby and what's in store for the future, as well as work stuff. Once Angela left, Jane and I headed upstairs to bed and made love several times before falling into a much needed sleep.
That is why the sink is in this condition. If we had paid attention last night, it could have been prevented. Jane is making her way back into the house now, scowl still in place. She walks right past me and gets down on the floor, ready to tackle the sink.
"Is there anything I can do sweetheart?" I ask sweetly, wanting to help anyway I can.
"Ya, don't let Ma use our sink anymore." She grumbles, making me frown.
"You know Jane, just because I do most of the cooking, doesn't mean this is strictly my domain. You're perfectly capable of telling her yourself." I say, trying to make a point.
"Maura, do I ever cook? No, but somehow I always manage to get the shitty cleanup jobs, like this one. So if you would like to switch, be my guest." She snaps at me and my mouth falls open. I look at her shocked for a second before resting my hands on my hips.
"Jane Clementine Rizzoli-Isles, you don't talk to me like that."
"Seriously? You just sounded exactly like my mother, not flattering Maura." She says before setting about doing her task. I glare at her before turning and making my way over to my purse and keys. Without a word I grab them and head out.
I have no idea where I'm going until I'm in front of Hope's house. I have no idea why I came here, but now that I am, I really want to see her. It's Sunday so I hope that she's here. I knock on the door and after a few minutes she answers. She has a surprised look on her face, but ushers me in nonetheless.
"Maura, what a surprise. What brings you here?" she asks, shutting the door behind me.
"Oh I needed to get out of the house so I went for a drive. Somehow I ended up here, and once I was, I realized how much I wanted to see you. I hope that's okay." I don't want to impose on her, but it is nice being here.
"Of course Maura. You're welcome here anytime. Please come and sit. Would you like something to drink?" she asks, pausing on her way to the kitchen.
"Some water would be nice, thank you." I say politely before sitting down on the couch. She nods and heads into the kitchen. I sit quietly and wait for her to return. I hear footsteps coming down the stairs and then Cailyn comes walking into the living room.
"Maura? Hey!" she says before pulling me into a hug. I'm still getting used to having a sister, but I do enjoy her hugs.
"Hello Cailyn, it's good to see you again." I say with a smile, sitting back down. Cailyn sits opposite me on a chair and smiles.
"It's good to see you too. What brings you here?" she asks curiously.
"Oh I was out on a drive and ended up here. I decided to come in and say hi." I say with a smile.
"Nice. I'm glad you did. It's been a bit since we were at your house for dinner, and I missed you." She says sincerely, making tears well up in my eyes.
"I missed you too Cailyn. I'm sorry we don't see enough of each other. I'm still getting used to having a sister and I haven't quite gotten it down yet." I say, wiping my tears away. Damn hormones.
"Are you okay?" she asks, surprised to see tears in my eyes.
"Yes I'm fine. Just overly emotional these days."
"Oh right, cuz of the baby. How's that going by the way?"
"Good, everything is as it should be. I actually have my second ultrasound in a couple of weeks, and we'll get to find out the sex of the baby. Jane and I are very excited." Cailyn's face brightens up at this.
"That's so cool! I sure can't wait to find out if I'll have a niece or nephew." She says with a huge smile. Her joy brings a smile to my face as well.
"What are you girls talking about?" Hope asks, walking in with a glass of water and a plate of cookies. She sets them down on the coffee table before taking a seat on the couch next to me.
"Maura said she gets to find out what she's having soon." Cailyn tells her mother.
"Oh that's wonderful Maura. Are you excited?" she asks, giving me a sweet smile.
"Yes of course. I can't wait to be able to pick out clothes and all other necessities. We have a few things, but I want to know the gender before I buy the rest."
"Are you planning on having a baby shower?" Cailyn asks, a hopeful look on her face.
"Well I hadn't really thought about it."
"Can I throw you one? What do you think mom?" she asks me, then turns to Hope. Hope looks at her, then at me with a questioning look.
"Well I think it's a good idea, if it's what Maura wants." She directs the last part at me like a question.
"Sure, it could be fun getting everyone together. I don't know how Jane will feel about it, but I say yes." I reply happily. The fact that Cailyn wants to do this for me makes me feel amazing. I'm still getting used to having people in my life who care about me, but I welcome it wholeheartedly.
"Yay!" Cailyn says before jumping up and giving me another hug.
"I'm gonna plan you the best baby shower ever! Oh, one thing though, can we have it at your house? It's so much bigger, and honestly, I just love your house." I chuckle at her statement and the goofy smile on her face.
"Sure, we can have it at my house."
"Awesome." Cailyn says before sitting back down.
"So how's Jane doing?" Hope asks, taking a bite of a cookie. I can't help but let my face fall when she mentions Jane's name and she notices.
"Is everything okay?" she asks with concern.
"Yes, everything's fine. We just had a small fight before I left is all."
"What about?" Cailyn asks, and Hope glares at her. "That's none of your business Cailyn." She scolds.
"No it's fine." I reassure her. I turn to Cailyn and answer her.
"It's silly really. Jane's mother came over and made dinner for us last night. She peeled potatoes in the sink and tried to push them down the disposal. It didn't work, clogging the sink. I didn't notice until today and called Jane down to fix it. I guess I startled her when I called for her, causing her to fall out of bed and hit her head. When she came down, already unhappy, and found out she had to fix the sink she got really upset." I sigh at the memory and start to feel sad.
"When Jane's upset she tends to say things she doesn't mean. She just snapped at me a few times about me not letting her mother use our sink, and I didn't help by telling her she was just as capable. It led to more jabs and so I left." I finish, playing with my wedding ring.
"I'm sorry Maura. Marriage is hard at times, but you and Jane love each other. You'll make up."
"Oh I know we will, but I'm upset with her right now, and I know it's probably just the hormones, but I'm not ready to forgive her. Is that dumb of me?" I ask with a sheepish look.
"Maura, you have every right to be upset. If she said things to hurt your feelings, you don't have to put up with that. When you get home, just express your feelings and I know Jane will listen. She's a good woman and she loves you dearly." Hope say reassuringly, with a squeeze to my arm.
"Thank you, that means a lot." I say with a small smile, brushing away a few tears.
"Would you wanna go see a movie with me?" Cailyn asks with a hopeful grin. I can't help but smile myself.
"Actually, that sounds lovely." Her grin gets bigger after I respond.
"Great, let me grab my laptop and we'll look at movies." She says before dashing off the get her computer. I turn to Hope and she's chuckling slightly.
"She absolutely adores you, you know." She says to me, causing me to gasp in shock.
"It was never easy for her growing up, knowing she had a sister who died at birth. When she figured out you were alive, she took it hard, but after the transplant and getting to know you, she wouldn't stop talking about you. I know this may be too much for you to hear, seeing as this is still new, but she loves and adores you." I have happy tears in my eyes and I'm clutching Hope's hand tightly.
"Things like this, going to a movie, really mean a lot to her. When you told us about the baby, she got really excited. Don't tell her I told you this, but she really hopes you'll let her babysit." I chuckle at this before wiping my tears away. Cailyn comes strolling back in with her computer. Once she sees my tears a concerned look forms on her face.
"You okay sis?"
"Oh yes I'm fine, hormones remember?" I say with a chuckle. Her face softens as she sits down on the floor by my feet.
"Okay well here are the movies that are playing. See anything that interests you?" she asks, handing me the computer. I look at the screen, inspecting my options.
"Oh can we go see The Hobbit? I ask excitedly. I wanted to see this but Jane wouldn't go with me. She said it was a dumb movie.
"Ya sure, I've wanted to see that actually." She says, looking at the screen.
"So I'd say let's go to either the 1:10 or 2:15 showing. I have stuff I've gotta do later so we can't go any later than that." She says, looking at me for an answer.
"We should probably go at 1:10. I do need to get home to Jane so we can talk." She nods her head at this.
"1:10 it is. That gives us about 45 minutes to get there and seated." She gets up off the floor and smiles at me before turning to Hope.
"Wanna come mom?" she asks, and the tone in her voice is hopeful. I smile at Hope and squeeze her hand again.
"Yes please come." I say.
"Okay sounds fun." She responds. We all smile at the thought of a girl's day. I can't help but be a little sad that Jane isn't here though. Hope excuses herself to go get ready, as does Cailyn, so I just sit on the couch with my thoughts while I wait.
I really don't like the way I left things with Jane. I know it was such a dumb fight, but she did hurt my feelings. I know she was unhappy about fixing the sink, and about hitting her head, but she didn't have to take it out on me.
Suddenly my phone buzzes and I pick it up, noticing I have a message from Jane. I can't help but smile.
Maura, where are you? Plz come home, it's lonely here without you. Bass is giving me dirty looks cuz I was a huge dick to you. I'm so sorry baby, I was just upset. Plz come back, I love you.
A few tears spring to my eyes at reading her words. I quickly start typing my reply
I'm sorry too Jane. I shouldn't have just left you like that, but I was hurt. I'm not coming home yet. Hope, Cailyn and I are going to see The Hobbit. I'll be home after. And I love you too:)
I hit send right as Hope and Cailyn make their way back down. I wipe the last of my tears away, ready to enjoy the time with my biological mother and sister, and stand up.
"You good?" Cailyn asks and I nod my head.
"Yes I'm good. Shall we go?" I gesture to the door. "We can just take my car." I offer and Hope smiles.
"Thank you Maura. Let's go." She says and we head for the door.
As we're walking to the car my phone buzzes again.
Okay baby, have fun and be safe. I'll see you when you get home. Love you xoxo
I smile at her hugs and kisses before putting my phone away and getting in the car.

Walking in the door, I put my keys and purse down in their designated spot and walk into the living room. After sitting down I rest my hands on my little protruding stomach, rubbing soothing circles.
"Can you hear me baby?" I call out, wanting to talk to my child. They say that it's soothing for the child to hear their mother's voice in the womb.
"Mommy wants to tell you she loves you very much, and can't wait for you to come join her in the world." I say, staring at my belly. I love this child so much already, and I don't even know if it's a boy or a girl. I wouldn't care either way though, as long as it's healthy and strong.
"Oh my god Maura, I'm so glad you're home!" Jane practically yells, causing me to jump in shock.
"Jane, you scared me." I say with my hand to my chest.
"Oh shit Maur, sorry." She says, sitting down next to me on the couch.
"Language Jane. Our baby can hear you, and I don't want him or her being subject to such foul language." I say to her with a glare.
"Sorry, sorry." She says to me. "Sorry little one, mama didn't mean it." She says to the baby before kissing my stomach. Once she comes back up to look at me, my heart swells. She has the most apologetic look on her face.
"Maura, I'm so sorry for being such a bi-" I put my finger to her lips, silencing the swear word she was just about to say.
"Sorry. I was really rude earlier and it was uncalled for. I just hit my head and was in pain, then having to fix something my mother should have avoided because she knows better, it just made me grumpy and you were there so I took it out on you. For that I am so incredibly sorry." I touch her cheek with my hand, caressing it and she sighs.
"I fixed the sink though. No more clog or potato peels. Oh and I even cleaned the kitchen too." She says with a goofy smile and I have to laugh.
"God I love your laugh. It's the most beautiful sound in the world." She says, looking me straight in the eye. I freeze for a moment, lost in her dark beautiful orbs.
"Can you forgive me baby?" she asks sweetly and I just have to smile.
"Of course sweetheart. And I'm sorry for pushing you. If I hadn't said anything, this wouldn't have happened."
"Hey, you listen to me. This was NOT your fault. It's all on me, so please, there is no need for you to apologize." She says, taking my face in her hands and caressing my cheek bones with her thumbs. She leans in slowly and kisses my lips. My eyes flutter closed and I moan softly. My hands go to her waist and pull her to me.
We share a few more kisses before breaking apart. "I love you Maura, so much."
"I love you too Jane. And I'm glad we aren't fighting. I hate when we fight." I say with a sad face.
"Me too babe, but we're good." She reiterates with a kiss to my lips.
"So how what your girls day?" she asks, and I instantly brighten up, ready to launch into a story of the day's events.
"Oh it was so good. Cailyn absolutely loved it as did I. I'm not sure Hope did as much, but you could tell she was just enjoying us all being together. She insisted we stop for ice cream on the way home so we did. I got a cone with regular vanilla ice cream on top. Cailyn said I couldn't have frozen yogurt, but my cone was good. After that I took them home and came back here." I say happily, a smile gracing my face at the memories.
"I'm so glad you had fun baby. It's good to see you out with your mom and sister. I know how much you love them, but don't know how to ask for the attention." She says. She knows me so well.
"It's true. I don't know why, but when I was driving earlier, I just went to her house. I'm really glad I did because we had so much fun. You know, she told me that Cailyn adores me, looks up to me even. That's a lot of pressure." I say, suddenly realizing as much.
"Hey, don't worry. You're an amazing woman Maur. Anybody who choses you to adore and idolize with do great things. I mean look at me." She says with a wink and I smack her arm.
"How do you do it?" I ask her, and at her confused look I explain. "With Frankie. He idolizes you, so how do you do it?"
"He does not idolize me. Why would anyone? I'm just a blue collar cop from Boston. The only good thing I've ever done was marry a gorgeous, extremely smart, amazing doctor. My skills go no further than that." I smack her again, this time harder because I mean it.
"Jane Clementine Rizzoli-isles!"
"Oh again with the full name!" she says exasperatedly but I ignore her.
"You are amazing! You are the best detective Boston has ever seen, you save lives as well as bring closure to those who have lost theirs. You're an amazing daughter, sister and wife. And, you'll be an amazing mother too." I say in the most convictional, sincere way possible.
"Thanks Maur." She says before pulling me in for a hug. After we break I grin at her.
"You did marry an amazing doctor though, I'll give you that one." Now it's her turn to playfully smack me on the arm. Suddenly she starts tickling me and I try to squirm away. It's doesn't work though because Jane is so much stronger than me.
I giggle uncontrollably and gasp for air. Finally she takes mercy on me and stops. I slump into her arms and stay there, trying to catch my breath.
"You hungry?" she asks after a few minutes.
"Yes I'm starved. What do you have in mind?" I ask, looking up at her beautiful face.
"I'll call in a pizza." And I'm really too happy and tired to care.
"Sounds good Jane." I say, curling back into her, relishing in the feel of her strong arms around me and our baby.
