March 23rd, 2 A.M.

A tapping noise could be heard and Elena tried to ignore the noise by rolling over onto her side facing her window. Her eyes were barely open, but it was enough to see a shadow moving outside her window. Her eyes flew open and she screamed from fright. Scottsdale jumped up and began barking. She quieted him down by reaching a hand over to pet him. He licked her hand in return and she smiled at him.

Sitting up quickly, she looked out her window again when she saw the same shadow. Something tapped at her window, sounding much like the noise she had tried to ignore. Scottsdale again began to bark and she had tell him to be quiet, because she didn't want him waking everyone up in the house.

Looking more closely she could make out a person sitting in the tree outside her window. Climbing out of her bed, she slowly tiptoed across the bedroom and towards her window, but not before turning the light on.

Beginning to lock the window, she peaked outside to see the shadow in question was actually Damon. Letting out a squeak, she placed her hand over heart and took a deep breath while shaking her head. Staring back at him, she threw open the window. She also got a better look at him when opened the window, she could see how his jaw was swollen and the beginning of a bruise was appearing on his skin. His lip was even cut and had dried blood on it.

"What the hell Damon?"

"Can I come in?" He asked while letting his tongue lick the cut on his lip.

"Its past midnight Damon…what's going on?"

"Please?" He begged and he hated begging.

"If Jenna or Ric were to find you in my room right now…we would both be in so much trouble." She said while shaking her head.

"Lex?" He whispered in a pained voice. The position he was sitting in the tree was really uncomfortable.

"Damon?" She said while sticking her head out the window to look at him better. "What's going on…what happened to your face?" Instead of listening to her or saying anything in return, he pushed her out-of-the-way and climbed through the window. Scottsdale jumped off her bed with his tail wagging at the sight of Damon as he approached the couple who was stumbling around.

She had to grab a hold of him when he stumbled a bit. They both fell backwards landing on her bed with him on top of her. She pushed him off of her, but not before catching a whiff of alcohol on his breathe. She knew something was up, because Damon normally avoided her when he was drinking. He went to reach out for her, to stop her from pushing him but she caught his wrist and he winced in pain. Looking up at him strangely, she tightened her hold when he went to pull away.

"Lena." He tried. He didn't want her to see the marks his father left on his body. She already asked about the scars on his back and he had lied, saying they were from either falling out of a tree when he was a boy and some of his past lives. He did have his fair share of scars, but so did she. They all came from each horrible life they lived.

She wouldn't let him have his arm back; it was like she had newfound strength. She began to roll up his sleeve; she wasn't even to the elbow when she saw the large welt that marred his skin. Something about the sore in that moment tossed her back to a time that sent chills down her back.

York, England: 1107 A.D.

The air was still and there wasn't a sound to be heard. The only noise was the sound of a young girl of only twenty - six years, crying out in pain. She once had been the daughter of a comte (count) in France, while her own mother had been the daughter of the Earl of Kent. She came from a long line of nobility, but in this moment none of that matter.

The servants all cringed at the screaming that was coming from the young girl who was chained to a marble post out by the garden. She was hunched over with her back bare to the world, as her husband who was standing over top of her with a whip in his hand.

She had been married off to her husband when she had only been fifteen and had been shipped over to England from Troyes, France. Her husband was the Earl of York and she was not happy about being a Countess. She would rather have been married to William Hopewell, the middle child out eight children to the Earl of Warwick. She missed her homeland, but she missed William more than anything. He had gone off to the crusades and never made it home. Her husband in question had always been bloodthirsty and he was mad at her for not producing him any heirs. She refused to give him any children.

"What…you did not think I would find out," The Earl of York screamed at his wife and she coward away from when he raised the whip to hurt her again. She screamed out when the seven leather straps with hooks at the end came slashing across her skin. The metal hooks dragged down her skin. Blood ran down her back as the Earl of York kept up the whipping and Cateline Rousseau, because she refused to be called Cateline Attaway, the countess of York screamed in pain and soon her screams turned into cries of pain. Her bare back was invisible with how much blood dripped her back and she couldn't even cry anymore. Her skin looked like a piece of shredded meat instead of a human back. She fell forward when he stopped whipping her; she tried to breathe in slowly and not make too much noise. "Did you think I would let you get away with it…you are my wife…and if I choose to have children…you bare them to me no questions asked," Her husband yelled at her and she tried not to cry anymore. "That does not matter anymore." He yelled at her while producing a metal rod that was heated so much that the metal was glowing.

Before she could even think, he had grabbed a hold of her hair and lifted her head up. She tried not to look at him because she knew that would just make him madder. She had to twist her head away from when he spit in her face and dropped her head to bob back up. She had no time to think before he was shoving the metal rod into left shoulder-blade. Her last words were of her screaming that he deserved everything she did. Her skin felt like it was being burned and singed; she could not take the pain anymore. Her last memory was of her and William when she had first moved to York from her homeland and she had only been fifteen and he had been eighteen.

Present Time,

Elena was brought out of her remembering when Damon touched her left shoulder. She jumped at his touch and shook her head when she looked down at him. She ran her thumb over the welt mark on his arm, before letting go and walking towards the mirror in her room. Scottsdale chose that moment to jump back up on the bed and lay down beside Damon.

Turning to the side she began to look at her right shoulder, trying to figure out if she could see the mark. Right there on her shoulder was a round circle scar that seemed to be between fading and staying. Touching her scar, she tried to remember if she had gotten the scar during this life or if it truly came from other life. She knew a few of the scars she had were from her other lives and she was always trying to hide them.

"Elena?" He questioned while trying to stand but instead he fell backwards onto the bed. She turned around quickly after letting her fingers trace the scar and looked over at him. She walked towards him again while trying not to cry.

"Who gave you that welt?" She said while biting her lip. He just looked at her instead of answering. "Damon…who gave you that mark?" She said in a raised voice. She walked towards him and grabbed his arm again. Scottsdale raised his head and stares up at Elena, like asking 'what was going on.' Something about the action causes Elena to wonder if her puppy knows what is going on, because he is being so sweet to Damon. "Who gave this to you?"

"Elena." He tried while pulling his arm from her, but she wasn't having it.

"Damon…I know someone gave you that welt…unless you did it yourself…but I don't think so."

"Why not tell me what freaked you out just a few minutes ago…it's like you went somewhere?" She just stood there, but he grabbed a hold of her hand and pulled her down on to his lap. Wrapping his arms around her waist to make sure she couldn't get up. He turned her around so her back was to him. "What about this mark?" He asked while moving the strap of her spaghetti strap shirt to take a closer look at the scar on her shoulder-blade. "You've never told me how you got this," He said while gently kissing it. "I know how you got this one," He said while pulling her up and placing a kiss in the middle of her back. The moment his lips touched her skin she got visions of a dark alley. "I also know how you got this one." He said while turning around so she was facing him and placing a light kiss in between her breast.

"Where I got shot." She whispered.

"Yeah," He murmured while pushing her shirt up again to kiss the scar that lead down to her belly button. "I really hate this one." He whispered again her skin.

"So do I…it's how it all began."

"But I have to say…this is the one that I hate the most." He whispered while pushing her shirt down and over her breasts. He kissed the scar that placed right over her heart. When his lips touched her scar over her heart, she felt pure sadness and she couldn't understand why. She wanted to know why that happened.

"Damon…stop trying to voiding the question," She said while pushing him away. "Who did this?" She said while picking up his arm and looking at the welt mark on his arm.

"Elena…please." He begged.

"Please…Damon…who did this?" She said while letting the tears finally run down her cheeks.

"Columbia." He whispered.

"What about Columbia?" She asked.

"I got accepted." She couldn't understand what he meant, until it finally dawned on her.

"Your father." She said while crying and pushing him down on the bed while straddling him.

"Elena?" She just ignored him while she began to pull up his shirt; she had to see it for herself. He didn't fight her when she finally got the shirt off of him; he even turned over on his stomach. She was straddling his lower back. He didn't want her feeling sorry for him, but he knew that she wouldn't give up trying to find out what was going on. She stared at his back and she couldn't help the tears that ran down her face.

"Oh My God," She whispered. "I can't believe he did this to you." She cried more.

"Elena…I'm okay."

"No you're not," She cried as she softly touched his wounds, but as soon as he winced she quickly pulled her hand back. "I'm sorry," She whispered while whipping away the tears. "Let me get something to take care of this." She said while getting up and heading for the bathroom, making sure to lock her bedroom door in the process and heading into the bathroom that was attached to her bathroom.

She went looking through the cabinets until she found the alcohol and the Neosporin, along with warm wet washcloth and dry washcloth before heading back into the room and locking the door behind her. She headed over to him, to find him still laying on his stomach but now he was clutching the pillow that she had been using to sleep with. She could tell that he was sound asleep and she wasn't planning on waking him, but she need to clean the dried blood off and the sores on his back.

"Damon," She whispered while crawling up beside him. "I'm sorry if this hurts…but I need to clean them," She said while beginning to wipe the blood off his back and she could feel him flinch under touch. "I'm sorry," She whispered again while beginning to put the alcohol on his sores and that's really when she saw him wince. "You have to know I don't want to hurt you," She cried. She quickly put the Neosporin on and then layed down beside him and Scottsdale wormed his way in between them.

Damon still had his eyes shut and his breathing was becoming more like he was sleep, so she quietly got up and turned the lights off before crawling back into the bed. She layed down beside him and placed her hand on his shoulder as she layed on her side beside him. Her arm was also thrown over Scottsdale as he kept kicking her in his sleep. "I'm going to get him back…you can get mad at me all you want…but I'm making him pay." She whispered. That's last thing he heard before he was fast asleep.

A few hours later,

The sun was finally coming through the open window and Elena had to blink a few times before her eyes were fully opened. She could see Damon still sleeping beside her, but this time he had one of his arms wrapped around her and Scottsdale and he also had his head in the crook of her neck. She could feel his breath on her skin every time she breathed.

Yawning, she looked over to the clock and saw that it was already eight in the morning. Gently moving his arm, she slowly moved away from him and out of the bed. She tiptoed over to her bathroom and unlocked the door before heading in. She locked the other door and turned the water on, while beginning to get undressed. As soon as she got into the shower she could hear Jeremy knocking on the bathroom door and it made her jump that she almost feel.

"Yeah?" She called out.

"Can you hurry up," Jeremy called through the door. "I need to use the bathroom."

"I just got in Jer." She called back. "Can't you use one of the other bathrooms?"

"I would prefer this one." He called back.

"Jer." She yelled while rinsing her hair of the soap it had in it. "I have soap in my hair…use one of the other bathrooms." She called back. She let out a yep when she felt two strong arms wrap around her waist and pull her close to them.

"Elena?" Jeremy asked in surprise while banging on the bathroom door again. She had to laugh a little bit when she turned around to see Damon naked and in the shower with her.

"What are you doing?" She whispered.

"I thought you may need some help hurrying up."

"Were going to get in trouble," She whispered back.

"Elena?" Jeremy yelled this time while banging on the door. "What's going on?"

"I'm fine Jer…I dropped something and it hit my foot," She lied while hitting Damon in the arm. "You have to leave." She whispered to him.

"After our shower." He said while kissing her but wincing when the shower water ran down his back.

"Your hurt," She said while pushing him away. "And my cousin is outside that door…you need to leave." She said while turning around and beginning to wash off.

"Elena…are you ever going to get out of the shower." Jeremy yelled.

"Jer…you use one of the other bathrooms." Elena could hear Alaric yell at him. After several more minutes, Elena finally ripped open the bathroom door that lead to Jeremy's bedroom.

"All yours." She said while drying her hair with the towel. She took a quick behind her to see that Damon had went into her bedroom. He was suppose to be using her window to leave again, since she didn't know how to get him to the front door without having Jenna or Alaric notice.

She hated having him go back to his father, but she also knew that she couldn't keep him there. She planned on talking to Caroline's mother about it. She headed back to bedroom to get Scottsdale for breakfast and his daily walk and training. She was glad she remembered to have Damon unlock her bedroom door. She just hoped like hell no one caught him sneaking out her window.

April 1st,

Elena quickly booted up her computer and began to bring up her document file, while getting on the Internet. She logged into her Facebook account and the first thing that popped up with something that Caroline had written about. Her and Caroline had been working on seeing what powers she gotten and how to control them. It had been a rough time and Elena by the end of it was getting annoyed, because none of her so called powers were coming out. The only one that was making itself known was the power to be able to enter people's dreams. Caroline kept telling her they would come in good time, but she was beginning to think they wouldn't.

Elena had also been secretly taking care of Damon and trying make sure that he was okay. She had tried to talk him into telling Caroline's mom and he had refused, but she couldn't understand why. He even got upset with her when she called Caroline and asked to speak to her mom. He actually took the phone from her and told Caroline ignore whatever she had just said and that everything was okay, just that she was overreacting. She was beginning to get a little upset with him, because the only thing she was wanted to do was protect him, but she also wanted to respect his wishes. She was in a catch twenty-two.

Reading over what Caroline had written, it read

'Guess what I did…I got my acceptance letters back and all but one of my choices accepted me. I am so damn happy.'

Elena just smiled at what Caroline had written, while writing back that she was happy for her and asking which ones had accepted her. She didn't have to wait long before Caroline was replying back to her. Caroline had written back about getting accepted to the University of Virginia and NYU, along with Duke.

'That's really good Care, proud of you.' She wrote back.

'Yeah. Mom's proud.' Caroline commented back.

'So do you know which one yet?' Elena commented.

'No, not yet."

I'm sure it'll come to you.' Rebekah commented while joining the conversation.

'Proud of you baby.' Tyler commented, while joining the conversation.

'Oh thank you sweetie!' Caroline commented back.

'I also got my acceptance letter back from UVA.' Tyler commented back.

'That's fantastic!' Caroline commented back.

'Good job Ty.' Elena commented.

'Yeah, dads pretty damn happy.' Tyler commented back.

'Are we all sharing our good news?' Matt commented, while joining the conversation.

'Yes we are.' Caroline commented.

'Did I tell you that I got accepted to Lynchburg College?' Matt commented back.

'That's really good .' Caroline commented back.

'So did you get accepted for a football scholarship like you hoped?' Klaus commented, joining the conversation.

'I hope you're talking to Tyler and not me.' Caroline commented.

'No, but I don't need a football scholarship like some to go to college and we already know that your going to Ole Miss.' Tyler commented.

Elena quit reading the comments after that and quickly sent a message to Caroline, that read:

'You may want to take care of your boys. Their beginning to fight.' She messaged to Caroline, who quickly wrote her back a message.

'Don't worry, Klaus is just being an ass and Tyler is still pissed that Klaus got the scholarship and not him.'

'Oh.' She messaged back before messaging her that she was getting off and that she would talk to her later. She began to write-up her paper that was supposed to be due Monday and it was also suppose to be done all in French.

She was halfway through her five-page paper when she got a text message from Caroline.

'So I was thinking, let's go shopping after school tomorrow for bathing suits and other things for our trip.' Caroline texted her.

'Should be fine, depends on my homework load.' She texted Caroline back.

'Guess what I heard?' Caroline texted back.

'What.'

'That Kat's father is actually going with them, or should I say that her and Hayley are going with him while he's on business.'

'Okay?' She texted back, not understanding what Caroline was getting at.

'Its just funny that she's been talking about how they are going by themselves.'

'Oh…okay.' She texted back before going back to her paper.

April 13th,

Elena Snuggled closer to Damon on the couch, they were at their secret place, which was Damon's mom's studio. She loved being this close to him and she worried that it would end.

"I can't believe you leave tomorrow morning." He said while sighing and twisting a piece of her hair around his finger.

"I know," She sighed. "I've loved hanging out with you so much…its going to be different not to see you for a week."

"Don't get to rowdy down there." He said while laughing and beginning to tickle her. She couldn't stop laughing and tried to make him stop, but he wouldn't. She could see that the marks were getting better, but she still hated his father.

"Stop." She laughed while trying to push him away, but he just kept tickling her.

"May I should go with you." He said while leaning over to kiss her.

"Girls week," She replied while leaning up to kiss him. "And I should head home…I don't need Jenna mad at me before I leave," She said while standing. He stood up and pulled her close to him, before kissing her passionately that it took her breathe away. "Maybe I could stay." She whispered when they finally broke the kiss. He kiss her cheek and then her jaw and then her lips again before shaking his head.

"No…you need to go and have some fun…just not too much."

"Same for you," She whispered while kissing him again. "I love you."

"And I love you." He said while helping her out to her car. He kissed her one more time before shutting her car door and watching her drive away.

April 14th,

Elena walked up towards Rebekah and Anna, but Caroline was missing. Rebekah was dressed in pair of tight skinny jeans and cute blouse, while Anna was dressed still in pair of sweat pants and tank top with her jacket. Elena on the other was in a pair of shorts and sweat shirt, because it was still a little bit chilly here. Jenna and Alaric had already seen her through the checkpoints and now she was at the gate. They had promised to look after Scottsdale and she promised to call every night to check-in. The airport was already busy at 6am and they had an hour and fifteen minutes to wait before their plane took off at seven fifteen.

"Where's Care?" She asked while putting her carry-on down.

"Running late…like always." Rebekah said while offering her the seat beside her.

"I thought I was running behind…because I overslept," She said while sitting down beside Rebekah. "She better hurry up."

"She texted me a few minutes ago and said she was just pulling up to the airport with her mom." Rebekah mentioned.

"Good to hear." She said while looking through her carry-on.

"At least we will be in the sun…here in just a few short hours." Anna said while smiling. "Again thank you Lena."

"You're welcome."

They didn't have to wait long before Caroline was running towards with a huge grin on her face. As usual Caroline looked fantastic. She was dressed in a cute pink summer dress and pair of flip-flops.

"You made it." She said while smiling over at Caroline who was out of breath.

"Yes," Caroline squealed. "I can't wait until we are in Florida." They didn't have to wait long before they were boarding the plane. They all boarded onto the plane, looking for their seats. Caroline was seat A 35 and Rebekah was in seat B 35, while Elena was in seat D 35 and Anna was in Seat C 35. Elena was the only one sitting by herself but she didn't care, she was sitting beside an older married couple.

"Hello…this is your captain speaking…and this is Flight 1673 from Richmond to Atlanta…we are about ready for take off." The Captain spoke over the loudspeaker. It didn't take long before the plane was taking off. The girls talked throughout the whole plane ride about everything they wanted to see and couldn't stop laughing.

The plane landed in Atlanta around eight fifty-eight and the girls had a three-hour and seven minute layover, so they walked around for a bit and got lunch before going to their gate. Then they took the plane down to West Palm Beach airport. This time it seemed like the plane ride took forever to get to Florida and they were all happy to finally be able to leave the plane and the airport. They arrived in West Palm Beach, Florida around one five-fifty. As soon as they got out of the gate and to the baggage claim, Elena ran toward Bonnie who was waiting with a large sign that said Welcome to The Best Spring Break Ever. Elena almost tackled her to the ground. Both girls could not stop laughing and smiling.

"I can't believe your back." Bonnie gushed while hugging her best friend.

"I know right." Elena said while hugging her best friend back. "I've missed you."

"So where's the other girls?" Bonnie asked while pulling away and looking for the other girls.

"They were just behind me," She said while looking around for them and spotting them standing off a few feet. "Guys…get your butts over here and meet my best friend Bonnie." All three of the girls walked towards them with smiles on their faces. Caroline was the first and she didn't shake Bonnie's hand, but she did hug her.

"I know your secret Hypatia." Caroline whispered into Bonnie's ear as she hugged her.

"The same goes for you Lysandra." Bonnie whispered back before pulling away.

To my fellow reviewers, thank you for your reviews and I hope you enjoyed this chapter. Please keep reviewing, but no flames they are not needed. As you can see something is up, I wonder what. Can anyone guess what is up with Caroline and Bonnie and what do they know.

jairem: Thank you for your review. Yes Giuseppe is horrible, but I wanted him that way for a reason. No, Giuseppe was only in this life, none of the others. He didn't really ask Damon to hate Katherine, more like he suggested it would be a good idea, mostly because he saw the good union it could be between the families. Damon does love Katherine to a point, but he loves Elena more and he really never thought he was going to see Alexis ever again. Alex will be found out later in the chapters and I do believe you all will be surprised. It's not Stefan or Tyler, or Klaus. She will be able to use her power, but not until later because her power is a beacon for that she is still alive, so Caroline doesn't want her to be using them.

YAZMIN V: Thank you for your review. Giuseppe is just an ass and he wants the perfect son. I hope that makes sense. He is reliving his life through his son's life.

petrovaaa: Thank you for your review. I am glad that you liked the mythology part of the last chapter. Thank you.

siberia 21: Thank you for your review. I am glad that you liked Elena invading Caroline's mind. Yes, her life can get more complicated. No, she doesn't really get to live her life, but she may or may not in the future. Your right about the pretense and her not being able to know. Alex is not Damon, but someone around him is Alex. Yes they are hiding, mostly because they have been through it before. Your welcome that Katherine is out of the picture for a little bit at least. Your fine with updating slowly, totally understand. Thank you for your review though.
