I walking on a pathway of stars, and I felt so, so dizzy and exhausted. It was the worst feeling in the world. It was like I just ran a marathon nonstop, and I feel the side effects of the running afterwards.
All the pain I have ever felt in my life now built up on my shoulders as I pulled myself weakly through the stars. Pain gripped me like an ice cold fist, but I couldn't stop walking.
The weight got stronger and stronger before I stopped walking altogether. I then flopped down on the ground, white dust clouds rising around me.
Then the jet black starlit sky grew brighter and greyer by the passing second. I was wheezing for breath, and a moment later, I felt something around my muzzle. I raised my paw, feeling a small gas mask around my lips, helping me breathe.
I thanked StarClan and got back up. Then I screamed and tumbled over once more when my heart stopped for a moment. I flopped down and choked on nothingness desperately.
Then I felt an electric pulse, and I felt my heart beat once more. I moaned in pain and I stared up at the sky, feeling lights stare down at me.
My headache came on and I screeched in agony. What the hell was going on? This is a dream unlike I have ever had before in my entire life.
"Wake up, Autumn."
I weakly stared up at bright blue eyes surrounded by a ginger tabby face. I grinned and he pulled off the gas mask. I breathed in the clear, starlit air. The cat named Flametail helped me up, the weight suddenly disappearing.
Suddenly, it was like someone brought an eraser to a chalkboard and wiped away everything. The air rippled and shimmered into a shining forest. And surrounding Flametail stood Bluestar, Russetfur, Mountainkit, Happykit, and many, many more cats. Even Firestar.
I gasped and fell down atop Flametail's shoulder. I sat down, and began to sob.
"It hurt so much, Flametail." I choked out, "I never felt so tired in my entire life."
"It's over now. The battle and the exhaustion is over." He cooed quietly wrapping his plumy tail around me. "Right now you're in Littlecloud's den healing. I was so, so scared that you would join me in StarClan when it wasn't your time."
"How long… how long have I been in his den?" I asked in a hushed voice.
Flametail hesitated before answering. Then he muttered, "Two full days. It's time for you to wake up."
"But I don't want to." I breathed in his minty scent and broke down in sobs once more. I felt all the cats of StarClan staring at us like some freak show. I felt tears stain my cheeks. I laid back my only remaining ear and shut my eyes so tightly.
I honestly didn't want to wake up. I wanted to not wake up ever again. I didn't want to leave Flametail. It just wasn't fair to leave the cat I have fallen in so deeply in love with. Life wasn't fair. It's just… not… fair…
"You need to wake up, Fallensky." Said Bluestar walking up to us. "Pinenose is grieving heavily right now. Blackstar is hanging on his last two lives. And your Clan needs a star bright enough to follow. And so does Stoatpaw and Starlingwing."
Flametail rested his chin on my head and he whispered, "I… It's hard for me to say this. But I want you to find a mate in ShadowClan."
I sniffled and stared at him in disbelief. "W-what? But I love you!"
"I want you to be happy." Flametail bore on, "I want ShadowClan to thrive. You don't need me to go on living. If you fall in love again, then I'll be okay. I'll understand."
I sniffed again and slowly backed away from all the StarClan cats. I sighed and breathed out in two low syllables, "Okay."
I had a very hard time forcing myself to part from StarClan. I blinked and twitched my left air oddly. The first scent that hit me like a stone was thick stinking herbs. I yawned and stretched my claws. I hazily looked outside the den to see the cloudy grey skies and snow covering the ground.
Flametail and Bluestar's words echoed in my mind. Now I can live normally. I can get a mate, have a family, and take care of my Clan.
But first, I needed to get up.
My muscles protested and tore me back down into the nest. They screeched in pain, still sore from running around so much. The bandages and leaves were no longer on me, but there were very thick wrappings of cobwebs on all of my paws. I meowed weakly and laid my head back down.
This agony was tearing me apart, but I can't go to sleep again. I have slept for long enough.
"F-Fallensky?"
I slowly turned around to see a small pale ginger tabby tom with bright blue eyes looking so much like Flametail. It was my apprentice, Stoatpaw.
Stoatpaw pressed his muzzle to my shoulder and sobbed out, "You were asleep for so long, I was afraid you've died!"
I shushed the little cat and smiled at him.
"She's awake, Stoatpaw?" Asked Littlecloud entering the den. Littlecloud looked at me absolutely shocked. He dropped the herbs he was carrying and quickly ran back out to the camp. He screamed out as loud as his raspy voice could, "Fallensky is awake! She's finally awake!"
I gasped as Blackstar, Tigerheart, Dawnpelt, Pinenose, Starlingwing and several other cats trodden into the den.
I wanted to cry tears of joy. Pinenose looked miserable without her mate or her kit.
Ferretclaw begrudgingly huffed and muttered, "We, uh, missed you."
"You ran faster than a WindClan cat." Gasped Tigerheart in shock. I nodded and finally decided that it was time to spill the beans.
I looked at Blackstar and nodded. "I'm sure that you knew about the prophecy, sir."
The white and black tom nodded. "I knew for a very long time. And that prophecy is the reason that I have named you Fallensky."
I smiled and dug my claws into the ground. "You guys… you have to know now. There was a prophecy about three other cats in ThunderClan and me as well. We all had powers. I had the power of tireless energy. However, Bluestar has told me that as soon as my role of messenger has fulfilled itself, that I would lose my power."
Pinenose agreed, "I would be exhausted as well if I ran that far."
Starlingwing walked up to me and set his nose on my forehead. "I'm so happy that you're okay."
"I'm happy that you aren't dead." I said back softly.
Ferretclaw exchanged a glance with Pinenose and they both smiled. I rolled my eyes as Blackstar grinned. "You have served us well, Fallensky. You are one of our best warriors despite your… past." Then he winked. I laid back my ear in embarrassment. He knows about my human origins as well it seems…
"I want to continue serving ShadowClan." I vowed, "I want to be a loyal warrior with the spirit of a lion. It doesn't matter who I was anymore. All that matters now is that I care and love my Clan."
