Chapter 38: The Kanto Safari Zone

Ed and the others were relieved. As they saw the pink buildings of Fuchsia City, the trainers were ecstatic to finally get to the Pokémon Center. However, the first thing they need to do is go to the hospital. Kevin broke his arm at the Pokémon Race, so it was kind of important to get that fixed.

"Ah," said Kevin. His right arm was wrapped up in a green cast, "That will never happen again."

"Who knows? The next Pokémon Race you will probably have to wear body gear," said John, looking at him.

"How come you never get injured?" asked Kevin.

John laughed, "I'm a hobbit. Hobbits never get injured."

"Hobbit?" asked Rachel.

John looked at her, "Have you ever seen Lord of the Rings?"

Rachel shook her head, "Nope."

John sighed as he looked at Ed and Kevin, "We got to fix that."

"We can. Once we get to the Pokémon Center," said Ed, looking at them, "By the way, do you guys want to go to the Safari Zone tomorrow?"

"Safari Zone?" asked John.

"Yeah. We can catch new Pokémon in the Safari Zone!" he exclaimed, "Plus, I would love to catch some new Pokémon and modify my team… especially with the Fuchsia Gym."

"You aren't going to the gym tomorrow?" asked El.

"Nope. I want to have some fun first before I get my fifth badge," said Ed, smiling, "Plus, after everything that happened in Celadon and Saffron, I want to have some fun."

"We had fun in Saffron City," said Kevin.

"Uh… yeah until Kira blew up the Silph Company," said Ed, "And then Celadon was ruined due to Team Rocket kidnapping my father."

The other trainers nodded. They definitely agreed that for once in their lives, fun was deserved in a city.

"How about the time in Lavender Town?" asked Rachel.

"HELL NO!" yelled Kevin and Ed.

"Lavender Town was awesome," said El, smiling.

"Lavender Town was scary," said Ed.

John looked at them, "That town was awesome."

Ed looked at John. John raised an eyebrow, "Eddie, stop being a p-."

"Hey look, the Pokémon Center!" shouted Rachel.

The trainers looked at each other as they continued their walk into the facility. As the glass doors opened automatically, Nurse Joy was smiling as she was looking at them.

"Why hello!" she said, "Welcome to the Fuchsia City Pokémon Center. Would you like to heal your Pokémon?"

The trainers nodded as they placed all of their Pokémon in trays to give to Nurse Joy. She smiled as she also looked at them, "Would like keys to your rooms?"

Ed nodded, "Yes, please."

As she gave them the keys, Ed smiled as Nurse Joy brought the trays of Poké Balls to the back, "Your Pokémon should be healed momentarily. Feel free to check in to your rooms."

The trainers were pleased as they headed up to their rooms to check in.

"Ah," said Kevin, sighing, "Well, this will be fun."

As he put his bags on the ground, John looked at him, "Just remember that you are crippled for the next six weeks…"

"… Thanks," said Kevin, sighing, "Hopefully, we can find a place to get this removed in six weeks."

Ed looked at Kevin and raised an eyebrow, "Relax, Kev. I'm sure everything's going to be okay."

"You better be right," said Kevin.

Ed sighed, "It will be. Besides, we are going to be catching new Pokémon tomorrow. I wonder what we will find?"

"Hopefully something cool!" said John.

As the guys went to talk, they heard knocking at the door. Turning around, Ed opened the door. Immediately, it was Rachel and El who had their Poké Balls in hand.

"Uh, the Pokémon are ready," said Rachel, "And I'm hungry. So, let's find a place to eat."

Ed put his hand up, "Relax, Ray. Let me get myself situated."

The next day...

The sun was shining in the sky as the pink roofs of Fuchsia City started glowing. As Ed woke up, he saw this aura of pink. Yawning, he rose from the bed and put on his shoes to head to the bathroom. As he went to go to the bathroom, Rachel was on the other side of the room, knocking. Opening the door, Ed looked at her.

"Rachel, people need to pee. What's wrong?" asked Ed.

"I hate pink," said Rachel, "Why are the roofs pink?"

"It's Fuchsia City: The Passion Pink City! Now, if you don't mind… I'll see you in an hour."

Closing the door, he went into the bathroom. After a few minutes, Ed went to grab his clothes. Kevin and John were awake due to Rachel's outbursts.

"Rachel decided to knock on our door now about the city?" asked Kevin.

"Yeah. For someone that's 11 years old…," said Ed, putting his clothes on, "I'll meet you guys downstairs."

John nodded, "Thanks. Kevin, you can go."

Kevin smiled, "Thanks. You can go first."

"Kevin, I insist," said John, smiling.

"No… you go!" said Kevin.

John rolled his eyes, "Fine, Kevin."

Kevin smiled as he rolled over and faced the wall, "Sleep!"

As he went to close his eyes, he looked up as John was already on the top bunk ladder, looking at Kevin. John pulled his hair, "GET YOUR ASS OUT OF BED!"

"MY HAIR!" yelled Kevin.

A few minutes later…

"Hi guys," said Ed, drinking a glass of orange juice. The guys were yawning. Kevin smiled as he looked at John.

"What happened?" asked Ed.

John laughed, "I pulled his hair."

Kevin nodded as he sat down with a cup of cereal in his hand. John sighed as he looked at Ed, "Ed, I have a question."

"Shoot," said Ed.

"Why did you choose not to go to Vermillion City and headed to Saffron instead?" asked John.

"I hate zigzagging," said Ed, smiling.

"Dude, we could have already been on a boat to Cinnabar Island at this point," said John.

"Cinnabar Island?" asked Kevin, "What's that?"

Ed smiled, "The best vacation place ever. I know for a fact that there's a Pokémon Gym there… and they just rebuilt the island after the volcano erupted."

"Wait a minute… Cinnabar Island has a volcano?" asked John.

Ed slowly nodded, "Yeah. I know because we get a lot of people that moved from Cinnabar Island. Pallet Town is only a good 180 miles from Cinnabar according to the GPS my dad had when he and I went on a fishing exhibition two years ago."

"Well," said Kevin, "Can we get to Cinnabar from Vermillion?"

"Yeah," said John, "There's a port."

As they continued to talk about the rest of their journey, they looked up to see the girls walk toward them.

"Look who's up… after coming into our room," said John.

"Shush… I have a right to complain," said Rachel, "Eddie, are we ready?"

"I'm slowly drinking my orange juice," said Ed, "You can sit down. I'm not in a rush. Are you?"

Rachel sighed as she put her hands on her ribs as she sat down. It was almost as if she was in pain. El smiled as she whispered into Ed's ear. Ed raised an eyebrow, "Got it."

"What?" asked Kevin and John.

"Nothing…," said Ed, "El, you help her do that. I'm going to pretend I didn't hear you say that."

El nodded, "You got it."

Later that day…

The five trainers were outside a nice white building with two golden statues on either side of the brown door. Of course, the roof was also pink. As the door opened, the trainers were amazed as they saw a park ranger. He wore a green uniform, had brown hair and black eyes.

"Hello, welcome to the Kanto Safari Zone… we are the central hub of the Safari Zone company," said the park ranger.

"Central hub?" asked Kevin.

"Yep. We also hold the Johto Safari Zone in Cianwood City, the Hoenn Safari Zone near Lilycove City and the Pastoria City Great Marsh in Sinnoh," said the ranger, "My name is Max and I will be giving you the rules to the Safari Zone."

"What are the rules?" asked Ed.

"Simple. You may not use your Pokémon," said Max, "You only get four hours and 50 Safari Balls. You use your Pokémon, it can be a serious offense. Do you guys understand the rules?"

The trainers nodded. Ed was amazed as he received 50 Safari Balls. He smiled as he looked at Kevin and the others, "This is amazing!"

"Have fun! Here's the map!" said Max.

Ed smiled as he grabbed the map. The four trainers stepped outside. The trainers were amazed as they saw all grass with a lake on the left and a brown house in front of them.

"This is not bad! I like this!" said Kevin, excited, "We need to explore."

As the trainers continued walking around, they stopped as they encountered a wild Nidoran. Of course, the creature was blue and it was a female. She was smiling as she played around.

"Nice!" said El, "My turn to capture her!"

"No, it's my turn!" said Rachel.

"I never caught a single Pokémon!" said El, "Go, Safari Ball!"

Nidoran turned around and then left. The ball was thrown and it missed. As she went to pick it up, she looked at Rachel, "Rachel!"

"Sorry," she muttered.

Ed turned to the others as he continued walking north in the Safari Zone, "This is going to be a long day."

Walking north, he turned to his right. His eyes grew as he heard something roar.

"Ed, watch out!" yelled Kevin.

A/N: So, what was coming out towards Ed? Hmm? Questions, comments? I guess you will have to find out next chapter.
