She's My Daughter

Hidan POV: It was just another day at the temple. Well it was then some one had to go and open their damned mouth to Hunter.

"I hope this doesn't sound rude, but how is it that you get to date and be intimate with whoever the hell you want... and yet when I ask it goes ignored?"

"You're not being ignored, it just means he doesn't approve of the union you are asking about." Hunter replied trying to stay cool.

"The one I've asked about is from within the church. You have several non-committed relationships with individuals outside the church. How is that fair?"

I felt an energy surge within the temple and I could tell that they had pushed things just a bit too far. He'd answer this one for Hunter. Everyone seemed to feel it as well, good... that was progress. The whole room waited in anticipation and Lucas came darting in from the antechamber,

"Hidan, he's..." he stopped short as he noticed the tension in the room.

"Already here." I offered.

Arkay was always in our midst to some extent, especially here at his temple, but now he was making a visit on the physical level. A dark mist filled the room and filtered down to a single spot near the alter, where it coalesced into a solid form. The tall dark robed man standing before us was familiar to everyone, some more than others. The one who had been pressing Hunter with questions bowed deeply, Hunter on the other hand giggled and ran over for a hug, which her father obliged.

No one in the room, aside from myself, had ever seen Hunter/Orchid interact with him on the physical level. Most stared openly in awe slack jawed, others were clearly expecting some kind of consequence to befall her as they looked on with mixed looks of worry or twisted satisfaction.

Lucas took a seat in the front row of pews and began writing furiously, we'd have a new chapter by the end of the night I surmised. Arkay turned to the one who had been asking very accusatory, personal questions of Hunter, and noting the smug look on their face.

"You know me, don't you?" Arkay asked him.

"Of course my Lord." responded the bitter acolyte.

"Then this too you should know, Hunter/Orchid is my daughter, and her affairs are none of your concern."

"I didn't know..." the man clearly paled several shades and began to sweat.

"Clearly." he said leveling a mild glare at the man "In any case, the permissions I give to Hunter are not without reason and that is all you need know. I trust you will not press the matter further?" he said making the room drop in temperature.

"N-No, Sir."

"Very good."

"Oh come on, dad. You know you're just obsessed with grandkids." Hunter remarked.

Death cleared his throat, "That's quite enough out of you." he said as he playfully ruffled Hunter's hair, "Come." he said to Hunter and together they walked out the front door of the temple.

"Besides dad, as annoying as it is at times. If they thought I had gone corrupt, I would want them to question. I was annoyed at his accusation of being ignored by you, it's not as if we have not gone over that before." could be heard before the door closed behind them.

Several of the others looked at me, shock openly written on their expressions, "You knew?" asked the one from earlier.

"Of course I knew." I replied my disappointment in their actions quite clear in my tone, "Not that it was any of your damned business. More over even if she had gone corrupt rest assured I would sort her out or you could pray on the matter. If Arkay was in fact ignoring you, perhaps you had done something already to displease him?"

Lucas stopped writing and looked to his fellow acolytes suddenly, "Wait none of you knew?" he asked the others more in shock of that fact than anything. He looked at me fear clear in his posture, "Was I not supposed to know?"

"It's fine Lucas, you could feel it while others are not yet so in touch with our Lord. Obviously some people need our Lord to explain himself, in order for them to stop harassing one of his High Priestesses and or doubting HIM. Let this be a lesson to you all."

Lucas nodded, casually picked up his book and returned to the antechamber soon I could feel him enter a state of Prayer. I chuckled lightly as I walked out, and as I looked back every single one of them was knelt down and deep in prayer, some had tears and looks of utter guilt and remorse on their faces, others including my own father and my old partner 'stitches' the temple guardians had satisfied smiles.
