Chapter 36: Vegeta vs. Cooler

"So, the monkey that killed my brother and father finally shows up! Oh, don't look all confused at me like that, Vegeta! You thought I hadn't heard?" Cooler said as he smirked broadly. "So you know…" Vegeta responded. Cooler nodded. "I don't know how you did, you piece of monkey scum, but you did actually do me a favour… You eradicated all other heirs to the rule of our Organization, effectively making me the supreme leader!" The frost demon explained as he dropped into his stance.

Vegeta chuckled as he also dropped into his, he was going to enjoy killing yet another one of these foolish frost demons… Cooler then dashed in with great speed and Vegeta had to do his best to block the incoming straight. The impact produced a loud noise as Vegeta was pushed back a little.

Cooler graciously flipped over backwards, before landing back on his feet. "I see! You've grown stronger than I could have expected! But, surely, my brother wouldn't be dispatched of so easily!" He explained as he got back into his stance. Vegeta stared at him with a smirk on his face.

"You are hiding something, aren't you? Come at me!" Cooler said as he invited Vegeta in. Vegeta laughed as his aura sparked up once again. He then rushed at Cooler with dazzling speed and threw a one-two combination for the frost demon's face, but Cooler dodged the first strike before blocking the second. He then lashed out with his strong tail, knocking Vegeta back.

The two warriors clashed shortly after as they both threw a right straight at the same time. The impact of the blow threw both of them backwards. Vegeta used the moment of imbalance and rammed Cooler in the chest with a haymaker. Cooler grunted in discomfort as he was forced to stumble back momentarily. Vegeta smirked again. He had been able to hit Cooler even without transforming. His confidence grew greater than it had been already, he would decimate the frost demon and take his place as the supreme ruler of the Organization…

"Stop smirking you fool!" Cooler roared as he threw a hook, but Vegeta ducked under it and threw an uppercut into his gut. Cooler screamed in pain as he was knocked up into the air a little, before Vegeta fiercely kicked him. "Why you!" The frost demon exclaimed as he was launched into the nearest wall. He bounced off before dropping onto his knees. His eyes revealed his rage.

"What's wrong, Cooler?" Vegeta taunted as he remained in his stance as Cooler pushed himself up. The frost demon tyrant never answered as he zapped away and reappeared in front of Vegeta. Vegeta growled in pain as he was thrown back by a quick jab that was followed up by a lowkick, but the Sayain Prince lifted his leg up to check it just in time. He then countered with a right hook, but the frost demon blocked it with his forearm.

They then started to exchange blows at an insanely high pace. Vegeta held his own for a long time, but he was forced to block and dodge so much that he couldn't get any offence of his own going. He growled in frustration as he ducked out of the way of a hook, but right into the path of Cooler's incoming knee, which caught him flush in his face and sent him spinning back through the air.

Cooler then suddenly zapped behind him and ended his flight by elbowing him down into the ground. Vegeta was launched through four floors of Cooler's space station, leaving a wake of destruction in his path. Cooler stared into the pit below that Vegeta had created and laughed. That was a direct hit and it had destroyed much of his cherished spaceship. Even though the Sayain had proven tougher than he had initially thought, he was sure that attack had just done him in.

His eyes widened in shock when energy suddenly lit up the pit, the flash of purple blinding him momentarily. Vegeta then emerged in a blaze as he shot out of the pit and bashed his head into Cooler's. The demon let out a faint cry of pain as he sailed through the air, before landing on his back and helplessly skidding on.

Vegeta laughed as he once again saw Cooler struggle to get up. But to his surprise, the frost demon was laughing as well… "I thought I had you there…" He said through his laughter. Vegeta grinned. "I'm warning you, Cooler, you shouldn't underestimate me!" He responded as he once again dropped into his stance. "Steady yourself for now, monkey. If we continue at this rate, we will destroy this ship. And I cherish it a lot… And I believe you need it to breathe. So it's in our best interests to continue this somewhere else, don't you think?" The demon suggested.

Vegeta grinned. "Fine! Let's get down to the surface of that planet right there." Vegeta said as he pointed at a screen with several flashing dots. Cooler nodded. "I have a vessel set up in the hangar, it's the fastest model in the fleet. If you would be so kind to follow me?" The frost demon said as he started walking towards the hangar through the remains of the interior of his space station, dragging his thick muscular tail behind him.

Vegeta kept on smiling as he followed him. The arrogant fool was actually aiding him in his quest…

The vessel arrived at the planet's surface shortly after. It extended its landing gear before touching down softly on the soil of the unnamed planet. It was basically just a big, brownish rock with the occasional river of water running through it. Scans from Cooler's vessel had shown that only a few primitive beings lived there, so nobody would get in their way.

The two warriors exited the ship as the stairs were lowered. They then walked away from each other, until they were about thirty feet apart. They then turned towards each other and dropped into their stances. "This planet will do! Now, we can fight without restrictions! Show me what you got, Sayain!" Cooler said.

Vegeta responded instantly by dashing forward. He threw a feint and Cooler went for it, opening up his block for a moment. Vegeta immediately pounced on the opportunity as he hammered home with a strong left hook. Cooler grunted as his head was snapped back from the blow.

But the frost demon refused to go down and instead countered by flipping over backwards, catching the Sayain Prince with his extended leg as he did. A trail of blood followed Vegeta as it was flung out of his mouth.

The Sayain then landed roughly into a formation of rocks, shattering many of them upon impact. He growled as he lay cut and bruised in the pile of rock. His aura flared up shortly and the debris around him was thrown back into the landscape violently. He looked up at Cooler with murderous eyes as the frost demon laughed loudly.

"You fool! You think you stand any sort of chance against me? I am the mightiest being in the universe! There is no one on my level." Cooler exclaimed as he burst out into maniacal laughter. Vegeta then interrupted him by firing a blast at the frost demon's head.

Cooler could barely dodge the surprise attack and it had caught him off guard as Vegeta had zapped behind him in a sneak move. "Gallic gun!" The frost demon screamed in rage and pain as the thick purple beam hit him square in the small of his back. He was launched forward and into a small hill a short distance away.

The explosion rocked the entire planet as the sky was illuminated in sharp purple. Vegeta himself was even thrown back a little from the force of his own beam. What a fool was Cooler. He had little to no fighting skill, he was even worse than Frieza when it came to trusting too much in his own power. Vegeta hadn't even been pushed enough to go Super Sayain yet…

As Vegeta had expected, Cooler emerged from the rubble shortly after the explosion, his skin scratched and his expression one of pure rage. "Don't you realize it yet? You have met your demise, Cooler. You will be brought to justice for all the wrongs you did. I am the legendary Super Sayain! And I am here to destroy you!" Vegeta exclaimed, his hand raised and balled up as a fist.

Cooler roared. "There is no such thing as that! Don't underestimate me Vegeta! I still have some tricks up my sleeve!" Vegeta laughed. "Let me guess… A transformation?"

Vegeta's guess was right on the mark as Cooler responded with a nod. "Watch me! I have attained a form stronger than even Frieza! I will end you, you Sayain slime!" The frost demon announced as he started grunting as he bent over slightly. "Go ahead and show me!" Vegeta taunted.

Cooler screamed as his head suddenly grew longer and his body grew bulkier. The shades of purple on his face were now spread over his entire body and the blades on his forearms and back grew longer and sharper. He continued screaming as his eyes started glowing bright red. The transformation was then completed when a shield slid upwards from his chin suddenly, covering his face up to his demonic eyes.

"Now you die!" Cooler shouted as he dashed in suddenly, much quicker this time than before. Vegeta had no chance of dodging the attack and was caught by the headbutt full on. He screamed in pain as he was launched back through the air and Cooler flew after him quickly.

He reached the Sayain Prince shortly after and hammered him out of the sky with both of his fists, as if he were swinging an invisible bat. Vegeta's impact into the soil was so rough that the entire planet shook. He lay in the midst of a large crater and the frost demon menacingly hovered above him.

Vegeta pushed himself up, that attack had hurt him severely… Cooler was basically nothing in his base form, a weaker version of Frieza. But this transformation had indeed made him more powerful than even Frieza was. But Cooler was a brutish, little skilled fighter and this body was just a bigger target…

Vegeta chuckled, which sparked up Cooler's rage once more. "You find it funny you're going to die?" He screamed down into the crater, his aura wildly sparking up around him. The Sayain Prince stared at Cooler's red eyes intensely for a moment, before extending out the palm of his hand and aiming it at the hovering demon.

"See if you can take this! If you can, then I will show you a power not witnessed in a thousand years!" Vegeta said as a crackling sphere of bright yellow energy formed in front of his palm. Cooler crossed his arms in front of his chest. Another bluff… He would show Vegeta just how powerful he was, there was no need to dodge the coming attack. The frost demon was sure of it…

Vegeta roared as the sphere expanded rapidly into a large ball of energy. "Big Bang Attack!"

Cooler remained in his place as the ball raged towards him with great speed. He waited until the last moment and then flew right into it. Vegeta was truly surprised to see the frost demon cleave right through his attack. The two sides of the ball were now unstable and exploded violently, lighting the sky up once more.

Vegeta saw Cooler approaching him but was powerless to get out of the way. He was twice hooked on his ribs and was thrown from side to side, his armour cracking from the blows. The frost demon then lashed out with a powerful front kick that pushed Vegeta off his feet and sent him flying.

But the Sayain Prince recovered in mid-air and flipped over backwards as he came to sudden stop. He then got back into his stance. "Alright then, Cooler. As promised, you will now see the Legend with your own eyes!" Vegeta said as he hovered in the sky, his aura sparking up around him in a strong purple. The purple then turned into bright gold along with Vegeta's pupils shortly disappearing…

Cooler then had to cover his highly perceptive eyes from the flash. He lowered his arms shortly after and gasped as he laid his eyes on the Super Sayain before him. "Who's got the most flashy transformation now, Cooler?" Vegeta joked as he disappeared from the demon's sight.

Vegeta reappeared behind Cooler and casually struck him in the back of his head. Cooler clutched the spot where had been hit in pain as he was sent down towards the ground. He hit the ground quite hard and was unable to keep himself from sliding onto his knees. He looked over his shoulder, expecting to see Vegeta still hovering in the air. But the Super Sayain had already closed the distance and was now right behind him, kicking him up with a strong punt.

Cooler roared in anger as he spiralled through the sky out of control. He then spread his arms and legs in mid-air to stop himself. "Take this!" He screamed as he fired off two blasts of purple energy. This didn't faze Vegeta one bit though as he continued his flight towards his opponent, graciously dodging the incoming blasts with a roll. The blasts went on to rip into the planet's surface and they exploded with great noise.

Vegeta had now reached Cooler and the two of them interlocked into a struggle of strength. Both of them screamed as they tried to push the other back, but in terms of strength it seemed to be dead even. Their auras were dancing around them wildly as they pushed with all they had.

Vegeta realized he wasn't overpowering Cooler the way he had overpowered Frieza… He grunted before ramming his knee up into the unsuspecting Cooler's chin. The frost demon was launched backwards and flipped through the air. Vegeta then zapped over into the trajectory of his helpless opponent and greeted him with a blast of energy.

The cloud of smoke from the large explosion filled the sky and momentarily hid Cooler from sight. But a second later, the body of Cooler dropped out the smoke, a trail following it as he went down.

Vegeta contently hovered in the air as Cooler dropped all the way down to the ground, were he landed with a loud thud. Vegeta then descended from the sky and landed in front of Cooler, who was in the process of getting up from the earlier strike.

"You may be strong Cooler, but you have no skill! You pale in comparison to my might!" Vegeta said as he dropped back into his stance, his golden aura flaring up around him. "Don't mock me!" Cooler screamed out in rage as he dashed in at Vegeta recklessly. But the Sayain suddenly seemed to vanish, leaving Cooler to strike nothing but thin air.

Vegeta then appeared above Cooler suddenly. "Too slow you chump!" The Super Sayain said as he battered Cooler in his neck with a chopping kick. The demon skidded face-first, throwing up a cloud of dust before coming to a halt. His hand twitched before balling up into a fist which he then rammed into the ground in anger, shaking the planet briefly.

He then jumped up and turned in mid-air to face the Super Sayain again. "Why don't you join me? Think of what we could achieve together! Nobody in the universe would be able to stop us." Cooler then suddenly said, the tone in his voice surprisingly kind. Vegeta could hardly believe it… Was the fool serious?

It was silent for a moment before Vegeta burst out in laughter. "I'd rather die! I will never join you! You ignorant imbecile! You are in no such position to make me an offer like that. You will die here today. And you will die by my hand!"
