((I've been looking at this for days, and I"m just not ok with it bt I know I need to post it and just hope that it's good. I humbly put this forward for you thoughts.)
When his blood activated the seal Oliver knew that everything had just gone from bad to worse. Even if there wasn't the strong, sourceless wind or the man who'd murdered his parents, the look on Mai's face said it all. She was terrified.
He didn't have the time to reflect on that. Before he could make a move Mai was shoved towards him and as he pulled her close the knife was drug across his forearm. The pain was minor and cut not that deep but it provided a greater blood flow. As he held Mai to him for a moment the blood ran from the cut and down his fingers, dripping the floor. The more he bled, the brighter the light glowed.
The brighter the light the more his uncle laughed.
"It won't be long now Ouji. A new world will be born and you stand at it's inception. I will be a God. You can be a king. Nephew, join me?" His uncle extended his hand and Oliver looked at it as he would a poisonous snake. "I can't give you everything. You can live forever. She could live forever by your side. "
"I.."He was so stymied for words that he couldn't even answer. He didn't want any parts of what Akuma was offering him. He wanted to punch his teeth down his throat. The thought shocked him, because before all this he hadn't been remotely a physically violent person since he was a child. Thinking about his childhood reminded him of Gene. He looked at Mai and tried to silently will her to tell him where his son was. She gave him a look that clearly said he's safe but he didn't want to drop it. HE pulled her close and held her tightly, the blood still running from his wrist. It was staining Mai's lovely skin as it ran in rivlets down her legs to the floor. It stained the alabaster scarlet. The light grew brighter and everywhere that his blood touched the goetic seal the light activated.
"What about Kazuya, what if I could return him to you?" Now his uncle had his attention and he knew it. He glared fiercely at Akuma. Now the man was just toying with him. "Or give you revenge." He must have seen the light tick in his eye when he said that because he followed that idea. "You want revenge on that woman, don't you? You want her to pay for what she did? A lifetime of suffering burning for what she did, for what she took from you. OR do you want something a little more hands on? Would you like to squeeze the life out of her yourself?"
He said nothing but he looked at Mai who was shaking. Truthfully he was beginning to feel a bit dizzy probably owing it to the blood loss from his still bleeding wound. Mai looked at him with her eyes shining from fresh tears and he spared a small smile for her. He kissed her forehead before looking back to his uncle. "Truthfully I don't want truly want a thing from you. There is nothing that you can offer me that would make it even remotely interesting for me. I have all I need and you couldn't delivery any of that to me."
"Oh, but I could dearest Ouji. I could give you the world. I could give you Kazuya, or do you prefer I call him Eugene? Wouldn't sweet, little Gene like to know his namesake, his uncle. The great Ipos could give you whatever your heart desires if you just submit to him." He was getting weaker and felt himself begin to sway. Oliver knew he was holding on to Mai in an effort to steady himself but she was doing an admirable job of holding him steady.
He could hear his uncle prattling on but he couldn't make out the words. Everything was beginning to get fuzzy and he felt himself swoon a bit. As he fell to his knees he could hear Mai screaming for him and his uncle's laughter . He wondered for a brief moment if he was dying but then closed his eyes and drifted into the plain that awaited him.
He thought he could make out a figure making their way towards him from the darkness and where he was began to become clearer. It was his old home. Not the Davis estate in London, or the orphanages he and his brother had been shuffled around from. His original home where he'd lived with his mother and father. He had been happy there, just the four of them. His life had been so much simplier then. So much easier.
He looked at the black clad figure that was walking towards him and saw his own face, or rather his own face a few years ago. He brother had his usual small smile, the one that he thought Mai had originally loved. It had been years since he'd been on the same plain as Gene, and that could only mean one thing.
"I'm dead then?' He asked and Gene smiled gently at him. For a moment he thought his brother wouldn't answer but when he finally did, he was surprised.
