Dinner tonight is a little awkward. My family doesn't really know how to treat Nat and vice versa. There's a lot of awkward silence as we eat. I pick at my plate a bit, but I don't eat much. How can I? I feel sick to my stomach that Chris has my husband.

A few maids help Nat get settled in, so I can go to bed. Crystal goes up with me to make sure I'm alright. She hands me over to my maids who help me get ready for bed. After I'm in my nightgown, I dismiss them for the evening. I lay in bed for a while before I decide I can't sleep. I keep thinking about what could be happening to Matthew. I begin panting with all of these thoughts running through my head. I start hyperventilating after a while. I run to the balcony to get some fresh air, but it's not working. I decide I need to go to the gardens. I run downstairs as fast as I can, past a bunch of guards, and into the gardens. Once I get there, I collapse onto the ground in front of a fountain. I begin sobbing violently, gasping for air and shaking.

"April!" With blurry vision, I see Lance running towards me. I keep sobbing as he reaches me and wraps his arms around me. "Hey," he soothes. "Calm down, calm down."

"Calm down?" I yell, shoving his arms off of me. "Calm down? How the hell am I supposed to calm down? My husband has been kidnapped by an asshole who's gone insane! I can't just calm down! I have no idea where he is or what's happening to him! I'm tired of putting on a happy face! I can't take this anymore!"

"April—"

"What?" I interrupt. "What are you going to tell me? That everything's going to be okay? Because no one knows what's going to happen!" I pound on him with my clenched fists.

"April, stop!" He commands, grabbing my wrists.

"I can't..." I gasp for air. "I can't do this! I'm so...scared!" I put my head in my hands and sob.

"April, come here." He opens up his arms for me to come into. I let myself melt into him and let him hold me like a little girl. "You can handle this."

"How do you know?" I ask.

"Because I know you can." I look up at him. "Do you think I gave up my throne so my sister could just give up?" He asks.

"I guess not." I shrug.

"I know I didn't. Because that sister doesn't exist." He pauses to laugh a little. "Do you remember when we were little and we decided to sneak out?"

I smile a bit. "Yeah, I was determined to find a fairy in the forest. Then we got lost and couldn't find our way home."

"Do you remember how you were scared then?"

I pause. "Yeah."

"And do you remember how I told you how everything was going to be okay?"

I sigh. "Yeah."

"And do you remember how you didn't believe me then?"

"Yeah."

"And what ended up happening?"

"A couple of guards found us five feet into the forest."

"And everything turned out okay, didn't it?"

I laugh. "Yeah, I guess it did. Mom and Dad were pretty mad, though."

"Not as mad as the time we broke the vase."

"Or the time we convinced Crystal she was adopted."

"Or the time we convinced Nathan to jump off the couch with a parachute taped to his back!"

We sit and laugh at this for a while.

"See, it's going to be okay. One way or another, everything will work out." He says.

"Okay." I reply.

We sit there for a little while longer, and then Lance helps me get resettled in. He makes sure one of my maids is in my room just in case anything else happens. I seriously don't think I could have asked for a better older brother.
