Liesel cried. She couldn't help it as she walked through the falls in an attempt to make her way back over to her car that was parked on the outskirts of the woods. As much as Liesel hated to cry as she found it to be a weakness with in herself, Liesel couldn't help it as she couldn't believe what had happened; that Katherine hadn't been in the tomb. All Liesel could see was Damon's face, she could picture it in her mind as clear as day. The heartbreak was all too much and Liesel could see that Damon was destroyed by all of it, he had been waiting so long for this only to be devastated to find out that Katherine wasn't in the tomb. Liesel had no idea what to say to him, all she could do was promise him that she would do whatever she could to help him find Katherine. For now Stefan was going to deal with Damon, keep an eye on him and make sure that Damon didn't do anything stupid because of how upset he was over this whole. Liesel was going to head home, this last hour had been mentally exhausting without the use of her abilities and so Liesel was heading home to pull herself together and get some rest. Then she would deal with everything that had happened and try and come up of some way to help Damon. As Liesel continued to walk, she had unfortunately came the Duke party which she was going to have to cut through in order to get through to get to her car quicker. Putting her head down Liesel went about quickly walking through the crowds as the last thing she wanted was for someone to spot her and make a big deal about her being here at this party, when really Liesel was just cutting through the party. Liesel had to push past people as they all seemed to be in her path and they were too inebriated to moved, when Liesel first asked them. Continually pushing past them, Liesel ended up being pushed out of the way by someone and ended up bumping into Matt; the last person she wanted to see. Well not exactly but Liesel wasn't in the right frame of mind to be talking to anyone, she just wanted to go home and get into her bed.

"Liesel?"

"Hey Matt…" Liesel wearily replied, furiously wiping away her tears and forcing a smile on her face as wearily looked up at the blonde jock, she couldn't have anyone knowing that something was wrong as that would lead to questions that she couldn't answer. Matt smiled at Liesel and she noticed the look in his eyes change and she knew that he realized that everything wasn't so great.

"What's wrong?" Matt questioned and Liesel knew she was busted but she needed to make him believe that things were fine, or as fine as they could get for the town freak.

"Nothing, there is nothing wrong. I'm just a bit tired that's all. It's been a really long night especially with the whole almost getting run over " Liesel replied, somewhat only half lying as she was tired but that wasn't the real problem here. There was something wrong, but it wasn't something to do with her but she was affected by it. However much Liesel appreciated Matt's concern, there was no way she could tell him this as there was no way he would ever believe her and it was too complicated. Not to mention the whole Vicki thing could end up coming up. As much as she didn't want to lie, Liesel was going to have to do it and probably should have bothered her how easy it was for to lie to everyone. But Liesel had been lying to people since she had discovered that she was a psychic when she was a small girl. Her lies were a necessary evil as she quite often told herself.

"I don't believe you Liesel, I may not know much about girls but I can tell that you've been crying."

"I'm fine Matt, honestly I've never been better. I just need to get home that's all…" Liesel lied but she didn't sound find, she was stumbling over words and she had chocked on the last part of her sentence. She wasn't fine and just thinking about had happened with the tomb and how much pain Damon was in caused her eyes to start welling up again. This was literally the last place where Liesel wanted to start crying again, it was bad enough when she was walking through the woods and crying all by herself. But now she was here with Matt and in the middle of a party.

"Liesel what is going on? Has someone hurt you?" Matt questioned and Liesel ruefully just shook her head, but she couldn't do this any longer and so she moved to the side and began to walk away, telling herself that if she could just keep a hold of herself until she had gotten home then she could fall apart all she liked. Liesel could not afford to fall apart in public as her ego and reputation would never recover from it. Liesel continued walking but was suddenly forced to stop when Matt suddenly reappeared right in front of her. "Look something is wrong Liesel and I can't let you leave when you're so upset."

"Matt, honestly I'm fine. I don't need your help in the slightest." Liesel replied with a small sigh as she wiped her eyes

"I know that you think that I'm just a dumb jock–" Matt began and there was this hurt look in his eyes that caught Liesel by surprise, she actually had to swallow a lump in her throat because of the look on his blue eyes. It almost reminded her of a look that Damon had given her earlier on.

"I don't think that Matt, at least not anymore… I did used to think that you were just some dumb jock but I was wrong." Liesel said interrupting Matt before he could continue to bad mouth himself with what he believed were Liesel's negative views on him. "I made an assumption about you and I was wrong, you are not an idiot or a dumb jock Matt. Instead you are so much more than that. You seemed to look past my hideous reputation and try to talk to me even when I pretty much shoot you down constantly. You want to get to know me for some reason and you display a lot of backbone to all the sarcasm and insults that I send your way. Your sweet to me when I don't deserve it such as right now and it makes it even harder for me to try and push you away. I like that you try not to judge me like everyone else does and you don't look at me like I am this massive freak, you just treat me like a person which is pretty rare and you understand that I'm flawed. You're a good guy Matt and I like you."

"Liesel…"

"I find it very hard not to like you despite outward appearances." Liesel allowed herself to admit, Damon and Jared had been trying to make this thing with her and Matt happen. Jared in particular was trying to sell Matt to Liesel but there was no need. Liesel had eyes, sure Matt was handsome and tall amongst other things but he was nice, he wasn't like the other jocks and not to mention he seemed very sincere.

"I think that is the nicest thing you have ever said to me." Matt quipped and Liesel found herself laughing.

"I do have my moments, there are times I'm not the heinous bitch everyone thinks I am." Liesel quipped which caused Matt to smile at her, a warm gentle smile that caused Liesel to feel a bit better than she had done all day and she smiled back at him in return.

"I wouldn't call you that." Matt said as he reached and took one of Liesel's hands in her own in rather awkward manner which caused her to look at him with a puzzled expression before she eventually smiled. Matt hands were warm and they made Liesel feel safe.

"That's because you're too nice." Liesel quietly replied as she found herself bashfully looking down at feet for a few moments before she was draw back to looking at Matt. He was smiling at her like she mattered, like she was a person worthy of actual affection and not something that should be sneered at in the hallway. He looked at her like the was important and Liesel wasn't sure why she shuffled a view steps closer to Matt, it could be because she was feeling vulnerable or something else that she wasn't ready to name, let alone admit here in the woods in the cold of the night. Liesel's thoughts drifted off to Damon briefly, but it was that of only briefly, maybe a few seconds at best. She knew she should be thinking of Damon but all Liesel was thinking about was being right here and in this moment. Right now she couldn't care about anything else.

"I think you are pretty great Liesel too." Matt softly said he moved ever so closer and kissed her. Liesel was startled at first at the chaste kiss, it was so gentle and tender almost like Matt was trying to see how comfortable she was with this, trying to see if she felt pressured in a way. And surprisingly Liesel didn't, this may have been her first kiss but it didn't seem like that. As Liesel's eyes feel shut she tentatively kissed him back, there was this warmth that she had never known before. It was nice and oddly comforting, the kiss started off as being slow but then Matt kissed her harder and Liesel quietly gasped. This was all so new and unexpected to Liesel, but yet it felt so right. Eventually they stopped because of a need to breathe but the two of them didn't move from each other and Liesel allowed herself to look at Matt. She felt suddenly overwhelmed by it all, raw and exposed for the first time in her life. Liesel wasn't sure that to do or even say as she had no idea what you did after something like this as she had never kissed anyone before. "That was nice…"

Liesel laughed. God knows why but she laughed, possibly because of the exhaustion or the fact that she had hit her head earlier in the day when Matt had saved her life. Maybe it was because Matt wasn't brushing what had happened off, honestly Liesel didn't know anymore as this day had been a rollercoaster of emotions. Good and bad.

"Yeah…"

"Do you need a ride home?" Matt quietly asked and Liesel crinkled up her nose as she had no idea what the hell he was talking about, until it all came back to her. The tomb. Damon. Liesel need time to sit down and process that all and get some rest before she could deal with it fully tomorrow.

"No my car isn't too far away from here, I parked it close by." Liesel wearily replied with a small sigh as she was just exhausted. Everything was just catching up with her now and just thinking about it all made her head want to explain. Liesel stood with Matt just idly looking around until she noticed him pull off the grey hat on his head and place it on her head, making sure it covered her ears. "What was that for?"

"Your ears are red, I figured that they must be cold for something." Matt replied with a casual shrug of shoulders and Liesel felt something in her normal dead cold heart. She wasn't exactly sure what it was but her heart felt light and she was pretty sure she was smiling like an idiot.

"I probably should get going..." Liesel reluctantly said and Matt slowly nodded his head.

"I'll see you at school?" Matt questioned

"You will." Liesel replied and with a tiny smile, she walked past Matt and headed further into the woods, towards the outskirts. As she did, Liesel had to try and not lose her head over what had just happened, reminding herself that she was Liesel Caffrey and she did not lose her head over a kiss. Especially if it was her first kiss. As nice as it was Liesel knew she had to focus on the more pressing issues at the moment and when she eventually got back to her car, Liesel drove straight back home. Her dad was heading up for the night with Pogue trailing up the stairs behind him as she walked through the door. Liesel bid her dad a good night before looking the front door and heading up to her own bedroom and getting changed into her bedroom. Liesel was about to climb into her bed and get some well-deserved sleep when there was a knock on her balcony door. Hurrying to the door, Liesel unlocked and found that it was Stefan who was supposed to be with Damon. "Has something else happened? Is he okay?"

"I don't know. Damon hasn't said a word except for telling me to go check on you, I thought it was because he wanted to be alone because of what happened. But it wasn't, he was worried about you." Stefan revealed as he stepped into Liesel's bedroom. Now Liesel felt extremely guilty. Damon had just had his heartbroken and in the midst of no doubt drowning his sorrows, he was still worried about her. Liesel was a terrible human being. She was a bad friend.

"Oh Damon…" Liesel sighed.

"There's something else Leese." Stefan wearily began.

"Can it wait Stefan? It has been a very long day for me…" Liesel questioned as she climbed into her bed but when she looked back at Stefan, she knew whatever it was that he needed to tell her was important and pretty bad judging by the look on his face. "What is it?"

"Sheila Bennett is dead." Stefan announced and Liesel didn't see that one coming and it was like she had been punched in the gut. She was with Mrs. Bennett a couple of hours ago and she was fine, maybe a little tried after opening the tomb but perfectly fine. Liesel couldn't believe that she was dead.

"How?" Liesel asked although it was a pretty redundant question, no doubt Mrs. Bennett's death was due to what had happened to tonight.

"Overuse of magic I'd guess."

"Is this my fault Stefan? Did Mrs. Bennett die because I blackmailed her and Bonnie into opening the tomb?" Liesel questioned as the more she thought about, Mrs. Bennett would still be alive if it wasn't for her. If Liesel hadn't gone over to her house and gave her that big lecture than none of this would have happened. Liesel was in shock she never expected any of this and she didn't know how to begin to process it.

"This was not your fault Liesel, no matter what you said to Shelia she made the choice to open the tomb and she knew the consequences of using her magic. No one could have foreseen this, not even you Liesel." Stefan assured Liesel as he came and sat beside her on her bed. Liesel wanted to believed Stefan but she couldn't quite, she had a vision of Mrs. Bennett opening the tomb but that's all she saw, Liesel hadn't foreseen her death. There had been no indication that she was going to die. Liesel felt bad but she didn't feel guilty for some reason.

"You don't hate me because of this, do you?" Liesel asked turning to face Stefan.

"Why would I hate you?"

"Because of everything I did, I took Damon's side in all of this and did everything I could to make sure the tomb was open. You and Damon were almost trapped in it like the other vampires because of that. Damon said to me that you could never be angry at me but I don't quite believe that…" Liesel wearily stated, she felt terrible now. It seemed like today she was doing more harm than good.

"I could never hate you Liesel and I was angry but I was never angry with you Liesel, you are my best friend and I know you were doing what you thought was for the best. And you should remember that if it wasn't for you Damon would still be in the tomb, you were the one who convinced him to leave. If you wasn't there then I'm not sure if he would left or not." Stefan assured Liesel and there was this tiny amount of relief for Liesel.

"Can we talk about something else for a bit? A lot has happened today and I kind of need to talk to my best friend about something of a less supernatural nature…"

"What do you want to talk about?" Stefan questioned.

"I kissed Matt Donovan, well he kissed me but my point is that we kissed." Liesel announced and the look of surprise on Stefan's face was exactly what she had been expecting. Stefan hadn't been expecting for her to say that, just as Liesel hadn't been expecting Matt to kiss her. "I know, right? Totally unexpected but it happened Stef, I was trying to get back to my car and I ran into Matt and he saw I was upset. We talked for a bit and then he kissed me and things went on from there, he also gave me a hat because my ears looked like they were cold."

"So what does this mean? Are you and Matt an item?"

"I don't know Stefan, I don't know what any of this means as I have never done anything like this. I have no experience in this subject area because unlike you I am persona non grata when it comes to dating and relationships and boys don't typically go around and kiss weird girls like me–"

"–Except for Matt Donovan." Stefan quipped and Liesel found herself laughing, she couldn't believe that Stefan had just come out with that

"This is nice." Liesel admitted after a moment. "I know today has been a crappy day but this right here, the two of talking about normal teenaged problems instead of something that isn't supernatural related. I miss us talking in general, I feel like we haven't spent much time with each other lately as your with Elena a lot and I've been hanging out with Damon a bit too much. I miss Liesel and Stefan time…"

"So do I?"

"Can we just hang out here for a while? Sit and talk for a little longer before tomorrow comes and we have to deal with everything that will come with that happened today?" Liesel questioned, as tired as she may be Liesel wanted Stefan to stay, she wanted to talk with him and have this tiny break where two friends could just simply talk with each other without worrying about the constant problems that came with being a vampire and psychic who lived in a town like Mystic Falls.

"For you? Anything Leese."
