QBH: It may be late to say this but I have made another Intermission chapter again for next week.
Luigi: But there isn't any holiday on February? What are you talking about?
QBH: It is for Valentine's Day. I still feel ashamed that I wrote one when I am still single yet you couldn't turn a blind eye to the atmosphere created by almost every lovey dovey couple you pass by.
Mario: But you still feel obliged to even write one for the sake of this as a side story, am I right?
QBH: Yeah. Somehow I not sure if I can make more intermission chapters but I will admit I wont make one for every holiday. The only one I could plan is Halloween and that is already months away. So If anyone is interested for me to try make a holiday chapter just PM me in advance that is.
Zelda: Care to explain why you treated me into a weakling and damsel in distress?
QBH: Once again I apologize for this association, I am guilty for writing this kind of scenario that has been a theme in nearly every form of media. I would try to avoid this kind of thing If I could.
QBH: Well, another day another chapter right? Well I can't hold you guys long enough, I present you guys this chapter! Enjoy!
Chapter 35: Absolute Mayhem
The entire stadium rocked for a few seconds, shocking the unsuspected audience by surprised. Nobody panic at the sight as everyone now had to deal with the various enemies swarming already quickly.
Most had to put their skills to try and reduce the enemies; it may take a while and nobody bothered thinking about the tournament anymore.
Mario, Peach and Link are now surrounded by their numerous foes of Goombas, Koopa Troopas, Koopa Paratoopas, Like Likes, Octoroks and Redeads. Peach was initially shocked but Mario and Link regained their composure and proceeded to beat their foes as an act of defense.
"Mario, what just happened?" Peach
"Beats me but I am surprised as you are." Mario as he spin kicks a koopa troopa
"How did all these enemies appear in this place all of sudden?" Link as he stabs a goomba with his sword
"Did those two villains have something to do with this since this is their enemies we are fighting against?" Peach
"We don't have the time to speculate at this part right now. We have to thin out these guys first then we can discuss about this." Link
"Uh … Yeah." Peach as she prepared to attack with a frying pan
Meanwhile at the back of stadium things are happening as well. The enemies have swarmed in as well. In the Infirmary, Dr. Mario hearing and feeling the explosion run out quickly to the stadium grounds to check out the situation leaving the recovering Zelda all by herself, unfortunately as he exits the hallway got also surprised by the amount of enemies as they swarmed in leaving him trapped to fend them off. Nearby Luigi himself has heard and now also seen the enemies swarm, he got scared by the huge amount but since he is by himself and at a dead end, he has no choice but to brave through this.
Even though he is afraid like usual; someone made him somehow motivated; he is worried about Zelda since she is still in the infirmary recovering from her earlier match. He does know he is the closest one besides Dr. Mario but he still worried and that makes him go fight through the enemies as fast as he could.
For Bowser and Ganondorf, even while their troops spread out while they took their casual stroll through them as they make their way through to get their target.
Zelda, now all by herself, at first is concerned with what is occurring now until Dr. Mario immediately left to check it out but when Dr. Mario didn't return quickly, she became worried. She didn't want to stay in the hospital and tries her best to limp off and check the situation herself.
Luigi managed to get close enough about two hallways near the infirmary but the enemies haven't stopped and still is swarming. He knows he is close but the moment he is close, he stopped & hid beside a wall when he hears two footsteps.
"It seems that are plan seems to be working. Look how much those pathetic 'heroes' panic and squirm." Bowser grinning
"Yes … but we still have a one thing to do." Ganondorf
Overhearing the conversation; Luigi is now scared knowing by instinct what those two villains are going two to do. Luigi is really shaking knowing he had to make a choice whether or not intervene. It didn't take long before even Luigi to make a decision that the two villains stormed in through the infirmary door.
Zelda is caught by surprised as the two villains barged in. Zelda knows she is all by herself and prepares to be defensive. In didn't take than less than a minute before Zelda's starting to feel tired and starts breathing heavily. In Zelda's subconscious; Sheik knew she can't intervene in any way and transforming to help would also ruin their shared identity. Ganondorf, seeing this just casually walked up to the cornered princess and knock her out.
Luigi stood still shivering in fright over what to do and how to react but in his panic, he somehow forgot the enemies are still swarming in. Luigi is by now having to defend himself kind of snapping himself back to reality.
The villains now with their second phase of their plan completed, now with their victim in tow; they are now heading to their place of operations, their dungeon base in nearby Battlefield.
It took Luigi 20 minutes to make sure there are no enemies nearby and after catching himself his breath, ran off to the nearby infirmary out of worry. Sadly, Luigi's hopes were dash as seeing the room as a mess and no one in sight. Knowing that the two had a head start he has no choice but to go after them without warning or informing the others. He knew had to keep up but to maintain a good distance just to be safe. Even though he would have cowardly run back and go cry for help, he still couldn't abandon Zelda and their promise just to be there and make her happy.
Back at the audience grounds; everybody has started to thin out the enemies numbers, it didn't matter to them that they were once fighting against one another either earlier or even the days prior, they just want to restore order and getting rid of these pests.
After nearly an hour of countless hits and attacks, the stadium has been freed of the numerous minions. As soon as the whole stadium grounds and bleachers have been cleared, everybody is now gathered at the stadium grounds and try to decipher the situation.
"Okay, anybody got an idea why there were so many enemies were let lose here?" Samus
"It seems these enemies seem related to the ones found along those two villains." Roy
"Speaking of which where are those two idiots gone to?" Marth
It didn't take them even less than 30 seconds to come up the most cliché answer.
"I can't believe we have fallen to a stupid trap." Ness
"Well we never seen this kind of event ever took place before, right?" Donkey Kong
"Yeah, All 12 of us veterans weren't actually villains in any way. All of us had lived in peace when we aren't having matches against each other." Link
The group is now debating now their course of action; surprisingly the situation caused the rest to neglect that there were few people that weren't present at the stadium arena. This became apparent as Dr. Mario rushed past the now empty hallways as he removed the last of the enemies near the backstage are.
"Is everybody all right?" Dr. Mario
Everyone is surprised to see Dr. Mario and then some realized they had one other person missing. Link immediately grabbed the Doctor and asked the major question.
"Why are you here? Did you just abandon Zelda at the Infirmary by herself?" Link
Realizing his mistake and making some of them worried. Dr. Mario, Link, Marth, Roy and Captain Falcon run towards the infirmary and to their horror the room is in disarray and the princess has been kidnapped.
"Wait could someone tell me what has happened?" Dr. Mario
"(Sigh) Somehow the villains let their minions all over the stadium, I can't believe you abandoned Zelda just to check out what was happening at the grounds." Marth
"Hey! The minions also were spread out in the entire hallways! I thought it was a minor disturbance but I was quickly surrounded by the minions also. So how was I supposed to know that there was a kidnapping plot?" Dr. Mario being defensive
"(sigh) Right. We don't have time to blame each other! We have to tell the others about this." Link
The group then returned to tell the bad news.
"We can now understand now why those two villains instigated the attack." Roy
"Does it have to be a typical princess kidnapping?" Fox
Mario just feels ashamed that he is often associated with that role. The others aren't even dismissing the idea.
"Great. Now we have an idea what those two pulled on us. Does anybody have any idea where those two have kidnapped the useless princess?" Falco
Peach and Link found this offensive and both gave them a piece of their mind and hit Falco for that.
"Don't you think that a princess is totally useless in any way!" Peach
"You are forgetting she is recovering from her earlier match and it was two versus one fight even if she isn't totally weakened." Link
"Okay, okay. My bad…." Falco
"Now what do we do? Do you have any idea were those two have run off with the princess?" Ice Climbers
Everybody just fell silent forgetting that they spent nearly 2 hours doing nothing but talking or clearing the enemies. Not wasting any more time, Mario immediately rallies the rest of the people available.
"We have no choice but to split up and find those villains. We have to go in pairs since we are dealing those two and I doubt we need to be quick about this." Mario
It didn't take long for all of them to be in pairs of as of the following:
Mario and Peach
Link and Samus
Donkey Kong and Yoshi
Pikachu and Kirby
Fox and Falco
Captain Falcon and Mewtwo
Ness and Young Link
Jigglypuff and Pichu
Dr. Mario and Mr. Game & Watch
Ice Climbers didn't need to team up anyway
Marth and Roy
With everyone already teamed up all took off in various stages they think the villains have taken based but before all of them even at the stadium entrance, there were greeted by a swarm of enemies just randomly roaming around the grounds. By the time it took them to get rid of all of the enemies in Pokemon stadium, the others that were placed by the two villains in just the 6 other stages have spread out and are now amuck in almost every other stage.
"We really are so screwed! How in the hell did those two been able to assemble this huge of an army?!" Kirby
"Whatever is the case, we still have no choice but to get rid of these pests!" Young Link as fired one of his fire bows.
The fighters sadly had to brazenly fight all of them and to make sure they aren't there anymore each pair spread out to actively get rid of these pests as they trekked through the assigned or assumed stages either to check if there were still enemies in those stages or to try and corner/ confront the villains for causing the chaos in the first place.
Meanwhile Luigi is still on the trail of the two villains with their captive in tow. Luigi surprising kept quiet as the two took their time to summon their minions and orders them to stay and guard/ stall the heroes they think will come after them. Since Luigi saw this, he quietly hid in any place out of sight just to trail them.
As Luigi continued to stalk them, his mind is racing over the actions and events that just transpired. From the start with the supposed date; last minute chat with his friends; his and Zelda's matches and both their aftermaths; the surprise attacks on the stadium grounds; the abduction of the weakened Zelda; and his decision to go after the villains without assistance.
Still somewhere inside of him, he is still afraid and worried. He does feel cowardly for so many things and this odd attempt to go after the villains foolishly. He could have just ran back to warn the others but he may get shoved aside since he still gets no respect from others and probably still is angry at a certain opponent.
As the two villains enter the dungeon base near Battlefield, they have their armies already assembled and waiting for their master's orders. Seeing that they finally shown their base, Luigi took a while to find a place to camp where no enemies can potentially see him and stake out the base just to gather information, and plan his attempt to even try to rescue Zelda.
Meanwhile the pairs have spread out and assumed to check out the other non-home stages hoping that either the villains are there or making sure none of the stages have their minions running amuck. Sadly all pairs only found more of the minions and they had the tedious to get rid of them and give a heads up to the others regarding their progress.
The time now is close to late afternoon as the day approaches it's climatic point and everything felt like it shouldn't be like this in the first place as the villains have their plan working smoothly; the rest of the smashers were now busy getting rid of their huge numbers of their minions in each of the other stages; and only one plumber has a chance to even try to halt or stop them from causing more havoc.
At the dungeon base, Ganondorf and Bowser now had their captive locked in a cage in the middle of Battlefield while still unconscious and gladly did their best to set everything and strengthen their base before the inevitable fights before the heroes. They knew their window of opportunity is almost over and by then, it is still being put to good use knowing that they have stalled the heroes long enough and soon their third phase of their plan is set in motion.
QBH: Like I mentioned since Valentine's Day is approaching, I got myself motivated to write another intermission chapter and I skipped the New Year on purpose because I wrote the holidays already. I gotten way above my head on the Valentine's day chapter.
Luigi: Are you sure you are not delaying the regular chapters?
QBH: Nope. The series will have regular chapters still in cue but I couldn't help myself when it comes to intermissions for this story. I would however restrain myself for shoving chapters that are not even related to the main story.
Mario: Well that is a relief... So are you sure you aren't suffering from this heavy workload? You have been making chapters every week already.
QBH: I do have cut game time already since this has become a guilty pleasure to work with; not because this story is horrible but enjoyable enough to keep me interested and if I leave this empty, I would get readers upset.
Luigi: So anything new in your end?
QBH: Aside from playing with the 3ds (anybody can suggest me a good 3ds game?) New Super Mario Bros 2 kept me preoccupied for a while and since I am working now I potentially would buy a Wii U soon by this year. Since there are a lot of games already release for that system already I hope I don't get my buyers schedule slip. (I already mention that video game prices are huge! A new game cost 2500+!)
Mario: That's nice for you to support Nintendo. Hope you continue to support our games.
