NOTE: I accidently got the name of the former candidate mixed up, his name was Eric, not Nick so it was wrong in the previous chapter. Eric is Matt's partner

3 days later

Kelly woke up in the morning, Lana still asleep beside him and his phone was ringing. He got up quick, grabbing it quick and walking to the hallway because he didn't ant to wake her up.

''Kelly Severide.''

It was silent for a second when he heard a sigh.

''This is Erin I need your help, to catch the guys that this to the paramedics.''

A few minutes later, he walked back inside the bedroom.

''Who was that?'' Lana asked, awake now.

''The police detective that is on your case. She asks me to come to the station, I can help her in the investigation.''

''Are you going?''

''Do you mind?'' He asked worried.

''I just want you to find the men who did this to Mark. He had a young daughter.'' Lana said and Kelly nodded.

After he helped getting her ready for the day, as it was a little hard now her arm was in a full cast but after helping her he arrived at the intelligence unit, sitting down on a desk, trying not to sit down close to Erin and avoided looking at her. It was long ago she had left him, but it still sort of hurt him, although he didn't want her back, he loved Lana now. Besides, she had married Jay now.

''So, through camera images we probably found the group. They go to a lot of football matches together. Today they go to the football match as well and we bought tickets for the seat surrounding them. We will wait until they drop something...but I think they already know who we are.''

''So?'' Kelly asked.

''That is where you come in, Kelly. They will probably recognize us. You have to sit close by them, listen to them and when they say something, signal us and we will arrest them. Do you understand?'' Antonio asked then and Kelly nodded.

They went to the stadium soon after and after Kelly got a secret wire in his shirt to record everything, he took his place, behind the men now.

In the football stadium, he was sitting behind the men that the police was sure that they were guilty of doing this to the paramedics and as they were talking about their family and kids, Kelly wanted to smash their heads in, as it was their fault that one paramedic would never get to come home to his family.

''That girl wit the darker skin and the hair with the red glow, she cried so hard when the kicked her...was she the one that died?'' One suddenly said.

''no, the man died.''

Kelly wanted to hit the man, knew he was talking about Lana first but got up then and walked away.

''I got them.'' He whispered then a and the intelligence unit got up on multiple places and ran Kelly's way and grabbed the men then, arresting them.

A little later, he was standing outside, by Erin.

''Thank you, Kelly.'' She said then.

''I didn't do it for you.'' Kelly just said and Erin shrugged.

''I know, you did it for you girl, but thank you for helping me catch them. Couldn't have done it without you.'' She said then and finally he nodded.

''Thank you too...'' He said then as she had traced them down and also helped with this and shared an awkward home before they both drove away, separating ways again.

He drove home and put his car on the driveway, walking into the house then and kissed Lana as she asleep on the couch on her forehead and she opened her eyes.

''We got them, we caught them.'' He whispered then, caressing over her head.

''I am so happy.'' She smiled then and he nodded. He got up to get a cup of water for her but when he came walking back in, he saw that

He took her in his arms as she was crying, drying her tears, kissing her on her face until she fell asleep in his arms, exhausted and emotionally drained. He caressed her as she fell asleep and held her then, just holding her, so happy that she was still here and that she would get better.

They had a long way to go before they would bounce back from this.

The next afternoon.

Matt and Eric sat in their office, looking at the list of applicants they already had. But none of them seemed to fit the company. There had been a lady that had already been complaining about her wage...and a man that was allergic to dogs and as Ayer was always in the office, that as not a possibility.

'''This last person better be a good one, otherwise we will still be with the two of us.'' Matt said to Eric and Eric nodded at him.

''Hello.'' The man smiled friendly as he walked in and Ayer walked his way, wagging his tail.

''Ayer, stay here.'' Matt said but the man smiled.

''Aren't you a cutie...I won't pet him, since he is a service dog...but he is a cutie.'' The man said then and sat down. Ayer laid down on the ground, by the man, like he really liked him and Matt liked that, Ayer always seemed to show how much he liked somebody and usually he was right and matt liked it that the dog liked this man, it gave him a good feeling. The man left soon after and they promised to call him if he would be hired within a few hours.

''I think we both agree.'' Matt said and Eric nodded.

''I will call him tonight to tell him that we are going to hire him.''

Ayer started jumping around the office, happy, like he knew that was going on and jumped on Matt's lap.

''Yeah, I am just as happy as you, buddy!'' Matt said then, hugging the dog.

NOTE: Kelly got a phone call from Erin if he could help her with catching the guys who did this to the paramedics and he wanted to help his Lana, so he helped Erin and with his help they finally got the guys and they will be locked away and when he got home, she was really happy at first, she was crying then he tried to comfort her. Matt and Eric are expanding their company and while at first they couldn't find anyone. But then finally a good guy came over and Ayer really liked him too...so they are not expending their company only, but also Ayer had a new friend!

Upcoming: Kelly and Lana go the cabin after all as she is feeling a little better now and talk a lot about the incident. Shay spends a day alone with Jason...and it doesn't leave her stress free! The company expansion also causes a lot of stress between Matt and Gabby.
