*Derp face* SUPRISE! :D Yeah, I wasn't expecting to see this posted either. *Sighs loudly and face palms* Life is just... yeah... I'm not liking this whole "High School" thing very much and this chapter was sort of a collaboration of all these different parts that I need to tie together so it kind of took forevor. Also, I may or may not have finished this three months ago and then forgotten I wrote it. Anyways, on with the chapter!
Lady Red Willow freezes and Brandon blinks in surprise as the red haired teen waltzes into the room. Instead of his normal smile, a cold grin is displayed on his face. The two in the center of the room stare in both amazement and horror as he closes the door and slowly walks towards them. He walks in a certain way that seems quite unlike him, it almost resembles a predator that has just cornered its prey.
"Tyler,"Red Willow warns, carefully moving in front of Brandon as if to remind the boy that these were his friends. "Calm down, your starting to scare me. What would your sister say if she saw you this way?"
He pauses for a second before closing his eyes and nodding slightly. When he opens them again the smile has disappeared from his face and in its place is a more neutral expression. It's still unlike the usually obnoxious teen, but it's better then the icy smile from earlier. "Fine... fine. I suppose it wasn't going to be a secret forever, now was it?" He shrugs and turns his gaze to Brandon. "Surprise."
Brandon backs away for a second, staring at the red haired teen in horror before finally muttering, "What did you do with Tyler?"
There's a few moments of silence before Tyler practically keels over laughing. The laughter echoes up and down the enclosed space, and it takes almost a full minute for the boy to regain his senses and stop laughing. He wipes his eye and replies, "I haven't done anything with Tyler." He suddenly snaps back into character. "I am Tyler."
Brandon shivers at the thought and continues to stare at the teen in disbelief. Sure there was always something a bit... off about the boy. Like his ability to go from a complete nuisance to being completely serious within the span of a second, but he had never guessed that this was under that smile all that time. "So everything... this entire time...that was all an act...?"
"Sort of?" Tyler replies with a slightly lopsided grin. "I do enjoy messing with Apricot, and she's so easy to upset! Other than that... hmm, I suppose that was all an 'act' so to speak. I play the part of a naive little joker very well, do I not?" He stops and chuckles. "No one ever suspects the joker, do they? People always seem to underestimate me this way. I suppose the joke is over now, isn't it?"
Tyler turns to stare at Brandon and starts to walk towards the older man. He stops a few feet away and has to look up in order to form eye contact. "I recommend you don't tell anyone about our little meeting, alright? Now... in a few hours you and Apricot will be accompanying my sister to the Nether." He smiles grows even darker. "If anything, and I mean anything, happens to my sister while she is with you... well... let's just say you won't live to see the next day, okay?"
The teen suddenly turns and bounds towards the doorway once again. When he turns back around, a normal smile is displayed on his face and he appears to be back to normal. "M'kay guys, great chat, get some sleep so we can all leave on time in the morning 'k?" He smiles and waves goodnight before opening the door. "Oh, and Brandon, I wasn't kidding, if anything happens to her..." With that last comment, he walks out the door and slams it shut. The slam echoes through the room.
Tyler smiles as he returns to the guest room, quietly opening and shutting the door. As soon as the door shuts the smile falls from his face and he glances into the room. Maria is sitting in a chair in the farthest corner with a book in her hands. He walks over to his sister and stands a few feet away before finally muttering, "I'm back." Sitting down on the bed opposite of the chair, he looks back up at his sister and frowns at the book. "You know, you could at least say 'hello' or 'it's nice to see you' or 'don't bother me, I'm busy reading'."
Maria looks up from the book and quietly adds, "It's nice to see you, Tyler."
He smiles at the comment and nods happily."Now we just need to work on that smile and you'll be just fine!" He adds, his signature smile reaching seemingly from ear to ear. The teen lays back on the bed, leaving his legs hanging off the side and stares up at the ceiling.
The siblings don't speak for several minutes until Maria slowly closes the book and shifts her attention towards the other. "Thank you," Maria mutters quietly, the words quickly catchTyler's attention and cause the teen to abruptly sit up. He flinches slightly when his ankle knocks against the bed frame.
"For what?" Tyler asks, his smile is so redundant that it almost seems eerie. "For telling you to smile? 'Cause I can definitely tell you to do that more often." He waits for some sort of an annoyed reply, probably laced with subtle sarcasm or a straight out threat.
"For earlier," She replies. "I know you were trying to keep everyones attention away from me, and for that I am thankful." Tyler smile softens to something a bit more natural at the honest reply. He places his hand on his sisters shoulder comfortingly but quickly decides this gesture isn't enough and tries to hug her instead.
Maria's hand connects with the boys forehead before he even leaves the bed. "Awwww... Maria, you're so meannnnnnn!" Tyler complains unhappily, crossing his arms and pouting like a four year old. He huffs unhappily and mutters, "I bet you would let Ste-" He lets the comment trail off. The room once again plunges into silence and the siblings suddenly seem to be chasms apart despite being a few blocks from each other.
Maria finally breaks the silence but the feeling of separation remains. "We need to figure out a plan." She states, her voice free from emotion. "So you can drop the act." Almost immediately, Tyler's blue eyes narrow and the seemingly constant smile disappears from his lips. It's like he's an entirely different person .
"What ever do you mean?" He grins, but unlike earlier, there's a certain glint behind his blue eyes that hints at malicious intentions.
Maria just glares at the other. "You can claim that you don't have one all you want, but your actions are denying it."Maria replies, completely ignoring the comment. "We're splitting up the group in a few hours, we need to work out a plan before we leave."
"Wait- you actually think that was a legitimate message?" Tyler asks in surprise and raises an eyebrow. "You realize its a trap, right? Someone's trying to make us split up so they can pick us off easier."
Maria shrugs. "It might be a trap, but we're not helping anything sitting down here. If we're going to help anyone, than we need to keep moving."
"So were going to walk straight into a situation knowing it's probably set up to kill us?" Tyler questions, slightly annoyed by the answer. "How is that going to help anything?" With a sigh, he pulls a few sheets of paper out of his coat pocket. "Look, I know that you have your mind set on this, okay, but I don't think you're thinking rationally about this." He hands her the sheets of paper and watches as she unfolds them. "About a day ago I went back to the Capitol so I could gather some info." Tyler begins and nods towards the paper. "I traveled around almost the entire city, but there wasn't a single person. When I finally reached the castle the front doors were wide open."
He reaches into his pocket again and pulls out a small glass bottle. "There wasn't anyone there, but there was this strange pattern carved into the floor." Tyler tosses the glass bottle to his sister, the shadowy mist shifting slightly at the sudden movement. "Seem familiar?"
Maria stares at the vile for a few seconds in confusion that slowly fades to understanding. "This is... but why would..." She mutters in confusion, flipping the bottle on its side to get a better look at the substance.
"I already ran the results and it's the same as the sample we took from some of the first creeper attacks." Tyler continues solemnly. "Whatever has been causing those attacks reached the castle before we did... and it wanted us to know that. I created the whole team name idea so I could high five Willow without causing a scene." He stares his sister straight in the eye and says, "She had a small amount of the substance on her hand from when the message was delivered. This mission was set up by whoever has been causing the attacks."
Maria nods, looking slightly surprised by the teenagers course of action but choosing to ignore it. "I already knew that Tyler, and my decision hasn't changed." Green meets blue as she raises her eyes to match her brothers. "Whatever caused those attacks took away our family, Tyler, and for once we have a chance to face it." Her grasp on the bottle tightens considerably. "I'm wouldn't miss this chance for the world."
"So you're going to lead Apricot and Brandon in with you as well?" Tyler asks. "This is going to affect more people then just us."
Maria shakes her head. "I'm going to shake then off before we reach the portal." She keeps her gaze on her brother. "I know you don't agree with it, but my decision has been made and not even you can change that."
Tyler just glares at the floor and grips the blanket. He knows that there's no way for him to convince his sister at this point. Without a word or even a glance in her direction he stands up and walks halfway to the door before pausing and adding, "Just make sure you come back alive, alright?" He turns back towards his sister.
"I'll try," Maria replies with a soft smile, reaching into her pocket, she tosses a golden object in Tyler's direction. "Here, you'll need this."He catches the object, silently nodding and turning to leave the room.
Maria watches as the door slams shut before finally lowering her head in defeat. Throughout the years, she had gotten into several arguments with Tyler, but it had never been quite as serious before. They would usually disagree a bit or bicker between themselves, but they had never really fought before. The siblings, despite their stark differences in personality and ideas, had always gotten along.
As a child, Maria had strayed away from most of the other children. She would have rather sat inside on a sunny day and read then run around outside. As the years had passed, she had remained detached from the other children and perhaps reality in general. Despite this, there had always been one person who would seek her out time after time and try to catch her attention, her brother, Tyler. Of course this was usually just to try and annoy her or ask some ridiculous question that no one else would answer, but it was still nice to know that someone still cared enough to come find her.
She reaches down and pulls the second golden object out of her pocket. The "hero's mark" had been the last thing her parents had ever given to her, and she had passed one of them on to Tyler. Maris frowns at the shiny object before carefully placing it on the table beside her.
After their parents had passed away, Maria had taken over the role as head of the family and tried her best to keep the remnants of their family together. She had been barely twelve at the time, and the event had served as a rather rude awakening to the young girl. As the head of the family, it was her job to protect her younger siblings and to provide for them the best she could. Despite her best efforts, Laura had been left in the care of some family friends and as the years passed by their house had fallen into ruin.
She sighs at the memory and lifts the book off the table once again. "I may as well get over it," Maria mutters to herself and flips through a few pages before setting it on her lap. "It's not like I can change the past."
When she turned fourteen, she had been contacted by one of her few childhood friends. Neither of the siblings had seen Willow since the death of their parents and had been surprised by the sudden message from their childhood friend. It was Willow who had first told the siblings about the creeper attacks ravaging across much of Minecraftia. The same attacks that had taken their parents from them. It was on that day all those years ago that they had sworn to find the cause of the attacks and put an end to it. Over the next few years, they had located sources and tracked the path of the attacks. By the end of the third year, there was a complex web of sources and occurrences but every lead ended in a dead end. It was as if the attacks were happening on their own at random.
A few months after Maria's seventeenth birthday, the two had been asked to watch over the first heroes recantation. Tyler had been ecstatic at the idea, claiming that it was their duty to watch over the hero because their parents had been heroes. Maria hadn't viewed it quite like that. Actually, because of her background in literature, she absolutely hated the idea.
Heroes were almost always lead by some predetermined destiny for greatness, and many had to give their life to achieve it. She already chose to avoid almost everyone, knowing that their death was inevitable and would only be more likely within her company. Why should she have to grow close to someone if they're just going to pass away? So it was with that mindset that she started watching over Steve.
At first, it hadn't been that bad. She just had to show him the ropes of the world, so to speak, and make sure he didn't get into any trouble. Well, that and make sure that Herobrine remained unaware of his presence, and she had done a wonderful job of that judging by the fact that Steve was now dead.
She pauses at the thought and lowers her eyes from the book to the floor. This was just another failure on her part. She should learn from the experience and walk away stronger. Growing close to someone beyond Tyler had been a mistake, and not one she has any plans for repeating.
"Guess I should test this out now." She says to herself, placing the pendant on the table once again. Maria stands up and moves in front of the table. The book seems to shift through the pages on its own before settling on a page and falling lifeless once again. She raises her right hand over the golden object and places her other hand on the page in question. With a deep breath, she extends her hand in midair and snaps her eyes shut. At first, the change is subtle, but the golden object slowly begins to glow purple. The intensity of the light continues to grow until the walls of the room are seemingly plastered with the strange light. Purple slowly changes to white before the light suddenly explodes from the necklace, the energy shaking the stone walls of the room and disintegrating into thin air.
Maria remains standing at the edge of the table for a few seconds before her legs collapse beneath her. She stays on the floor for a few seconds in complete shock of the event. She had expected something to happen, but she didn't realize how much energy was going to escape at once. Gritting her teeth in determination, she carefully pulls herself back up and looks back at the spot where the golden object had been just seconds ago. The object is gone, and in its place is a large burn mark in the wood. She runs her hand over the scarred wood and traces the pattern with her finger. This isn't a natural burn mark.
"So it's true," she mutters, still in shock from the outcome. "It was just a spell. After all this time..." Maria shakes her head in amazement and examines her hand in the torchlight. She smiles slightly, clenching and unclenching the hand to make sure it's all right. "Guess I always kind of knew," she mutters, eyelids starting to droop from so many days without sleep. "I'm human."
Her hand swipes across the surface of the table, quickly restoring the wood to its natural appearance and elliminating any evidence of the spell. If Tyler ever finds out what she's done, he would never let her out of his sight again, but she knows this is for the best. By breaking the golden object, she's destroyed her "demi god" powers, but also broke any connection she had with the gods.
She moves her hand to close the book lying open on the table and carefully picks it up. The book snaps shut in a puff of smoke and dust, causing the girl to sneeze. She blinks slightly at the experience, rubbing her nose slightly before laughing slightly. Apparentley, the powers had kept away her allergies as well. How else had she grown up in a dusty library without sneezing all the time? She now has an explanation.
With an amused smile, she kneels under the desk and pulls an old, wooden chest out from under the table. The latch opens with a slight "click" and the top of the chest opens. Maria rummages through the supplies until she finds the items shes looking for. Her eyes light up slightly when her hand wraps around the spine of a book. She tugs the cover slightly, being extra careful to make sure that nothing tears at the pages. With the book up, she wipes off a thin layer of dust and wrinkles her nose slightly. This whole 'allergies' thing is going to be a problem. She sighs, setting the book down on the ground next to her and placing the book from earlier right next to it.
The other book was something she had stumbled across as a child. While researching an underground ruin a few years ago, she had accidentally gotten separated from Tyler and had ended up in a strange room. The room was packed full of artwork and books that she had never seen before and that spoke of events that were not recorded in any history book. I had taken her a bit to realize that the items in this room dated back to before the era system had even been established. She had been amazed at the discovery, but had passed it off as a fake. Everyone knew that the era system began at the beginning of their universe, so why in the world would she question it? Instead, she had taken a single book that had managed to catch her attention and had accidentally carried it with her for a year.
Over time, the book had become sort of a good luck token and she rarely removed it from her inventory. Maria stares at the books curiously as they line up perfectly. The covers of the two books are made of the same material, and the pages appear to have been made around the same time. "And the similarities continue," she muses to herself, moving her hand to wipe off some of the dust so she can get a clearer picture.
The second her hand swipes across the covers, a group of symbols suddenly illuminates on the font cover. Maria freezes at the sudden change, watching as the symbols seem to interact with the symbols from the other book. They eventually fade away and disappear from the covers all together. Maria waits a few moments to double check that the symbols are gone before flipping one of the books open. Instead of the strange stories and weird information that the book has shown before, the pages are filled with names and pictures. She skims through a few pages before suddenly stopping on a single page and staring at it in disbelief.
It had been a few hours since the elderly man last visited the silent room, but nothing has changed. A humanoid shadow sits a few feet from the the bed and stares blankly in front of her. Every few minutes the shadow sitting beside the bed stands up and walks over to the bed to readjust the blankets before sitting down again.
He remains standing in the doorframe through all if this. Knowing that the other being is too caught up in her own thoughts to notice him. The shadow beside the bed finally looks towards the floor and lets it's head drop in defeat. As the head drops, the illusion fades from the area and in the place of the darkness is a normal room. The shadow is still for a few moments before the void energy slowly recedes from the shadow and disappears into the stone flooring. Instead of a shadow, a woman in her he late thirties wearing an armored uniform sits in the chair. The elderly man smiles softly before taking the next step into the room.
"It's not like you to drop your defenses so easily... Shade," he states calmly. Within a second, the woman's head snaps around and void energy starts to retake the room. "Ah, it's just me! No need to pull that back up so quickly!" He quickly adds, flicking a switch on the wall to turn on the glowstone lantern. "Sorry, I guess I surprised you."
The energy swirls around, seemingly unsure as to where is should go, before slipping back to the corner of the room and behind the bed. Shade pauses before looking back at the figure standing in the doorway. "No, that's alright, I didn't see you come in," she answers quietly. "I'm just a bit tired right now."
"A bit tired?" The elder asks, a but of knowing sarcasm in his voice. "You haven't left this room since Fate re-spawned almost three days ago." He chuckles and adds, "You know that forty-eight hours of being awake your legally considered insane, right?"
Shade just sighs at the comment and turns away from the door. She turns back towards the bed and stares at the floor boards. "Do you have a reason for visiting me or are you simply here to annoy me?" Shade asks with a frown, choosing to ignore the other. "Actually, I don't believe that you have the authority to be in here at all."
The elderly man just chuckles, slowly shutting the door before walking over and taking a seat on one of the chair across from Shade. "Is it so wrong for an old man to visit his granddaughter?" He smiles briefly at the bed across the room before looking back at Shade."Or my own daughter?"
Shade stiffens at the comment, but doesn't move her gaze from the floorboards. Her jaw tightens, trying to hold back some sort of a reply. The two sit in silence for a few moments before the elder continues, "She doesn't know, does she?" Shade doesn't even blink. "That her parents have passed away."
"No, she doesn't know yet," Shade replies quietly, shaking her head. "I'll have to tell her when she wakes up."
"Ah... so that's what your worried about," he replies knowingly. The elder places a hand on her shoulder reassuringly. "She'll be alright. It might be hard for her, but we're still here, right? Besides, she was never very close to her parents. I think it would have been harder for her if you had passed away instead."
Shade shakes her head at the comment and looks back at the bed. "She'll probably be tried for treason after she wakes up," she mutters blankly. "I doubt that'll go over well."
He just shrugs and replies, "Eh, there's not much you can do about that." The elder smiles and adds, "Come on, let's take a walk. You need to get out of this room for a little while." Shade looks up to argue but he cuts her off. "Come on, your driving yourself insane by just sitting in here."
Shade sighs, stretching her arms before slowly standing up. "I'll give you five minutes, alright?" She walks a few steps with a limp because her foots asleep. "I need to be here when she wakes up." The elder smiles and stands up as well. He walks over to open the door and motions for Shade to follow. She reluctantly walks out the door behind him, shooting one last glance into the room before leaving.
The hallway is made of stone and torches line the walls. Dark grey rugs occasionally cover the floor, but very the wood still creaks under their feat as they walk. Eventually, they come to an alcove in the hallway and the elder steps up to the large window. Outside, a small village dots the countryside and oak trees extend as far as the eye can see. White clouds swim through the sky an the sun blazes faintly overhead. At the very edge of the settlement is a shadowy fog that doesn't appear to be moving in any direction. "It's still rather beautiful," the elder muses with a smile. "It's almost like home." Shade nods in reply but remains farther away from the window.
She remains silent for a few moment before asking, "How far along is the degeneration?"The other sighs at the comment and steps back from the window. He slowly turns back towards Shade with knowing eyes. "It hasn't moved much, but it's definitely getting closer. At this rate I doubt we'll be able to hold out much longer."
The brunette nods as the comment sinks in. She takes another step toward the window and places her hand up against the glass. Her head falls for a second to look at the rest of the environment before she nods. "This is home," she states calmly, keeping her focus beyond the window pane. "We were not born here, but many of our people gave their life to create this place." Shade pauses for a second before continuing. "I know that you believe that we're going too far with the project. If we didn't have to, we never would have set foot in Minecraftia again." She sighs and grips the window sill. "And maybe we are going a bit far, but if we don't the project will fail. We don't have another Katrina or another-." She pauses. "If we fail this time... it's over."
"Shade..." The elder says, trying to comfort his daughter. "I understand why we have to to this, I truly do, but that doesn't mean I have to like it." He sighs motions towards the room. "Come on, you'll have to head back soon. You should try and enjoy your break, even if it's under these sort of circumstances. Maybe Fate will want to see you when she wakes up?"
She hesitates for a second before reluctantly following after him. "I doubt she wants anything to do with me right now, but I guess I should be there when she wakes up..."
The two disappear down the hallway and quickly forget about the window and anything beyond the walls of the building. Outside is a small town of roughly ten thousand people. The house's roofs are barely noticeable among the thick trees and a large lake at the center of the buildings. Even the shadowy fog that encircles the settlement seems peaceful and unmoving... for now, anyways.
After more then a few hours of walking, I'm practically asleep on my feet. East seems to notice the change in my movement and continues to glance back at me. I stumble a bit on a tree root as we pass through yet another fragment and find myself wavering slightly on my feet. East finally sighs and turns back toward me. "You need to rest, don't you?" He asks knowingly. "That's alright, I didn't actually think you'd make it this far."
East motions to one of the trees on the fragment. "Go rest up a bit. I'll go fetch West and we can speak when she gets here, alright?"I think about arguing, but the second the thought of sleep reaches my mind I no longer have the energy left to argue. With a nod, I groggily walk towards the groove of trees and collapse under one of them. Why in the world am I so tired all of a sudden?
East nods off in the distance and continues through the field of floating fragments to try and find this "West" person. I close my eyes for a few seconds and watch in surprise as darkness overtakes my vision.
When I open my eyes, the forest is gone and in its place is a plane that seems to reach out in all directions. Unlike the last time this happened, there's no fog or shadowy mist blocking out my vision. In fact, I can't see anything on the plane at all. I frown and wonder how I even got here in the first place. Wasn't I going to sleep a little while ago? I have the urge to slap myself at the realization. I should have realized I was dreaming earlier!
With a sigh, I try to snap myself awake. A few minutes later, and I'm still sitting in the middle of the plane feeling a bit dizzy and have developed a small headache. If the realization that I'm dreaming isn't going to help me wake up, then what will? After a few moments of contemplating this, my headache increases and I have to lay back to stop the pain. "I'm stuck in the middle of a dream with a massive headache and no way to wake up," I mutter unconsciously and close my eyes. "Just my luck."
"We're afraid so." A voice replies and echoes around the area. Wait, what voice?Frantically, I snap up and search the space for another presence. How is someone else talking to me, anyways? It takes me a few moments but I slowly realize that there's no one else here besides me. I heard a voice though, I know I did! Maybe I was just imagining it?
"Is someone there?" I ask after a long pause and slowly scan through the area for another person. I'm not really sure why, but I think there really is another being here besides me. It's like I can sense its presence but can't see it. "I know you're out there."
A slight chuckling echoes through the area and I freeze at the noise. So I wasn't just imagining it, there really is something else here. "So you can sense our presence. We had hoped you would be able to, but we had our doubts."
I frown at the words. Why is it speaking as if it already knows who I am and why I'm here? "Who are you?" I ask cautiously, and my hand drifts to my side where my sword is usually located. The second it touches the strange metal, I freeze and quickly move my hand away from the object. Why would I need to defend myself? "And how do you know who I am."
The voice sighs and I flinch at the noise. "You're so young, far to young to be caught up in such a mess. Though I suppose your predecessor was even younger." A frown at the pointless commenting. Why is it ignoring my questions? "Oh, so you're annoyed by my comments? I suppose that would make sense."Wait what? "And now you're wondering how we know that, correct?" I cautiously nod. "It's simple really, we understand human psychology at a level where we can predict their state of mind and thought pattern."
Okay, so what are you and why are you talking to me?" I ask with a frown and cross my arms. Why do I keep asking that question over and over again? First with the Ender Dragon, next with West and now with this thing. Is it repeating itself? "We simply wish to speak to you face to face." The voice answers. "So far we have only been able to contact you through short visions and the occasional comment. We have waited a long time to finally meet you."
Well that's somewhat creepy. "Umm... well that's... nice...?" So apparently something has been stalking me. "Wait, were the dreams about my family from you?"
The voice, or I suppose voices start laughing. "Of course they were from us! Who else could show you visions of your past?" Is that rhetorical or an actual question? "But yes, we were the ones who showed you those moments. We were also the ones who spoke to you on occasion or subconsciously set you on a certain course."That's not weird or anything. I narrow my eyes at the comment and my frown deepens. Subconsciously setting me on the right course, what in the world does that mean?
"What do you mean by that?"The voice's laughter grows even louder and I grimace slightly. Everything seems so off at the moment and for my headache only worsens. Why are they here? Why are they laughing at me? I notice my hand is once again reaching for the sword by my side. Why am I afraid of these things? The laughter suddenly subsides and the plane falls into silence. I silently mutter a thank you and relax slightly.
"You haven't used that expression in a very long time." For the first time I notice my emotions. I'm angry. I blink in surprise and quickly dismiss the emotion. The voices are right, I haven't been angry in a long time. When me and Maria were separated I was worried about her, but I wasn't angry. When Tyler was being a nuisance it was mostly just annoying and occasionally amusing. I want even angry when Herobrine killed me. Then again I was sort of just confused by what had happened and what followed to actually think about it.
"You must be fairly unhappy then." The voices muse with a certain knowing town that's beginning to annoy me. "Perhaps you are stressed... or anxious?" I get the feeling these things already knows what's going on and is just trying to make me admit to it.
I sigh and start to explain. May as well tell my story to someone, right? "Well a little while ago, there was a random earth quake and a traveling companion of mine suddenly turned around and killed me."
"Oh? Do you think he did it in purpose or it was an accident?" The voice asks with the same knowing tone. "People make mistake after all..."
"I think its hard to murder someone on accident," I reply unhappily. The voices already know what's going on, I said 'traveling companion' I never mentioned a 'he'. "Anyways, I woke up in a dark place and thought I was dead. While there, I ran into a stray wolf that was glowing. No clue why it was glowing, it just kind of... was, and It led me to find a journal that apparently belonged to myself in a previous life. Next, I met the Ender Dragon who I supposedly killed in the same previous life. Someone else showed up and I started to disappear." I sigh at the length of the story and how confusing it is. "When I woke up again I met a man named East and he told me about the fragments."
The voice remains silent, as if it's waiting for me to finish. We wait in silence for a little while before I finally add, "All in all I've just had a very strange journey and I'm kind if stressed out. I also don't know how my friends are doing or even if they're still alive and I'm pissed off that I can't help them. The Shadows are still invading and I'm completely useless. How am I still awake, anyways?" I take a deep breath and relax slightly. It feels good to let that out, even if I might seem mentally unstable to whatever I'm talking to.
"So basically, your confused about your past and the present, and your upset because you can't help your friends?" The voice asks with the same tone from before. I just nod silently. "Perhaps we can help with that."
I look up in surprise and ask, "What do you mean by that?"
"It is time we introduced ourselves." The voices start to morph and twist into a single voice before adding, "We are known as the 'Code', the life blood of your world and many of the worlds beyond." Worlds beyond? "There are trillions upon trillions of us, we make up every object and being in the physical world. Together, we make up the Code."
"Wait, but if you make up everything in the universe, don't you know and see everything as well?" I ask in awe.
The single voice laughs slightly, but it's not as annoying as the laughter earlier. "I suppose you could put it that way. There's a much more complicated explanation but I'm afraid that it would drive you insane, and considering that you
are actually quite important to us that would be a horrible mistake."
"I don't like you," I mutter under my breath instinctively. My mind is screaming at me to be cautious, but the 'Code' doesn't appear to be a threat. "I don't know why, but I really don't like you."
"It is best that you do not like us," it replies, still laughing slightly. "We are against you as much as we are with you, and is not our role to intervene in your universe's affairs."
"Then why am I here?" I ask with a sigh and stare up at the sky. "Did you bring me here?"
"Ah, you didn't let us finish! It's not our role to intervene unless the universe grows unbalanced! Of course such a thing is very rare, and we have set up precautions to have others solve such a thing, but it does occasionally happen."A separate voice adds, "Lets just say our precautions didn't get along very well and you're going to fix it. It took us long enough to track you down because you been around so many coders, but we finally managed to move you far enough away that we could speak to you freely."
"Why couldn't we speak before, exactly?" I ask curiously, trying to bait a further answer to my situation out of the voice. "If you're the coding, shouldn't you be able to speak to me directly anytime you want to?"
A loud sigh echoes through the clearing at my comment. I glance around the plane while awaiting an answer. There really isn't anything here, is there? I frown slightly at the thought "Unfortunately we cannot. You see, there are people who can hide themselves from us and a few of those people are trying to hide you as well."
"Why would they want to hide-"
"Who knows? Actually, that's a lie. We know why they want to hide you but it's not our job to inform you of such a thing. We're not on your side, remember? Everything we do is for our own benefit."
"If you're not going to tell me then why bring me here? I have no interest on helping you and you won't tell me anything so we're at a bit of a standstill, aren't we?"
The voices start laughing again. "Fine... fine... it appears your not as much of a pushover as we previously believed. Guess we should have suspected as much. We couldn't even speak with some of your predecessors because they would become conscious of us so quickly and break the connection."
"As we said before," another voice breaks in. "We're not on your side anymore then you are on ours. Your supposed to hate us, it's your natural reaction."
"Okay... so why would I want to help you? You're contradicting yourself." The voice doesn't reply at first, but the ground a few blocks away seems to shift slightly before returning to normal. I blink, testing to see if was just my imagination, but when I open my eyes the plane is gone. The flat-land that I had been standing on has been replaced by the night sky and a few stars in the distance. Oh, wait, where's the ground?
"Don't worry," the voice is speaking again, but this time it's in my head Instead of around me. "Did we not already inform you that you were in a dream? What you're seeing now is simply an illusion being projected to your unconscious mind."
I nod in reply, unsure if that's a worthy reply or not. Can it tell that I'm nodding? How can I even nod in a dream? How does any of this work? Something tells me I won't be getting an answer so I remain silent. My eyes shift slightly when a small amount of green and blue appears at the very edge of my vision. The light steadily grows closer and closer until I can make out some of the details. My eyes widen slightly when I realize what the bright object is. Why is it showings the Overworld from a distance? I stare at the world for a while before trying to reply. "Why-"
"We thought it would be best to show you your world from a distance. It would be best for you to understand things from another perspective."
"Oh, umm... okay." How is this going to help me? I doubt this will change my perspective on anything but okay.
The world slowly becomes more and more detailed as I move closer to the blob of color. A few mountain ranges dot the landscape and one surrounds a large valley in the center of the plane. I can't quite see any towns, but there's little bits of grey and brown mixed together in a few spots that I believe to be towns. I smile down at the world and remember my home, or shack, I had built as my first home. Maria's stone-brick library that stood apart from the rest of the towns wooden and stone structures. Even the old graveyard I had fainted in and the broken mansion.
Everything had happened so fast that I haven't even had time to think about my home or the town. It suddenly hits me that I can never return I my home. I'll never get to see my shack of the library or anyone ever again. "It brings back memories, does it not?" The voice asks quietly. "Such little things make up your place in the world, yet they seem to mean so much to you. We're afraid that's something we can never understand. You were not born in this world and you have no family within it, but you made it your home and became emotionally attached to it."
I just shrug at the comment, continuing to smile at the world. "So? I don't remember anywhere but here. As far as I'm concerned I've lived my entire life here among my friends. Maybe I don't know anything about my family, but maybe there's things I just don't need to know about."
The voice sighs. "You claim that you don't care about knowledge of your family, but perhaps you simply don't want to know? Perhaps you are subconsciously aware of your memories but your mind won't accept them because it would change your position?"
"Of course I don't know about them!" I argue unhappily. "Why wouldn't I want to know about them?" Something in the back of my mind freezes at the comment and I have the feeling that was not the right thing to say. "It's not that I necessarily need-"
"The Elder family," the voice begins. "Now that is a long story, a very long story. Though to understand it we would need to go back much farther then that." It pauses a second to think with a slight "hmmm" before starting again. "Let's just start with the very beginning, alright?"
Oh, yay, story time with the possibly imaginary voice in my head. Maybe I hit my head on something earlier? Maybe this entire month has been some sort of a nightmare and I'm actually just napping in my room after coming back from my mining trip? That would be nice.
"So, a long time ago, like a really long time ago the world just kind of appeared. We can't explain to you exactly how this happened because it would drive you insane or break the fourth wall and neither of those are very good options. Anyways, the world just kind of "poofed" into existence and we came with it. Humans came a little while after that, but I still can't properly explain that to you. We don't know how they got here or why they came here at all but they just kind of did. So there was a world and a bunch of humans and we have no idea how any of that came to be, okay? For all we know this might be the result of a teenager with a bit of time on his or her hands. It's not really important."
"Back to the story, the first humans began to slowly develop the world. They, along with a strange energy, began to create all of the objects of the world: trees, plants, the oceans, and almost everything in the world. Despite this, the world lacked order, and without law or rules it wasn't long before the world fell into chaos. In this chaos, parts of the world were permanently destroyed and the world shattered. The surviving people banded together to reform the world, but this time they formed three separate dimensions connected by portals."
Three dimensions? I know for a fact there's four. Or at least there was..."They formed three livable dimensions out of the shattered world. The largest was named the Overworld and most of the human population lived on it. Beyond the Overworld were two other dimensions of exactly the same size. One was closer to the sun and the other was farther away. These dimensions didn't really have names but people usually referred to them as the warm and cold dimensions. After these dimensions were formed there wasn't very much land left to form new dimensions so the remains were just left alone."
"Anyways, to assure that the world never fell into chaos again, we decided to gift a small group of humans with a power. This power would allow them to manipulate the world to their liking and would gift them with immortality. In turn, they would use their powers to keep balance in the world and stop any threats on the well being of the world. This allowed the world to pass along peacefully for an extended period of time. When the crops failed, they created animals for humans to hunt. When the human population grew to an unstable number they created mobs to keep the population in check. By granting them this power, we had brought peace to the whole of Minecraft."
Then how did things change? Why is the world currently caught in a conflict between two powers? "What changed?"
The voice laughs a bit, finding it amusing that I can figure out the next question. "Peace is boring, my dear. It's not something that can be maintained forever, eventually something has to change. The people had named those gifted with the abilities as 'gods', and they had formed their own dimension, a dimension of floating islands, out of the remaining fragments. As time passed, the gifted individuals grew bored with their work and began to slack off a bit. To make things more interesting, we picked another group of individuals and gifted them with the power to manipulate the coding as well, but to prevent them from just turning over and becoming more gods, we didn't gift them with immortality."
"Of course that didn't work very well," the voice continues, sounding rather reminiscent about the past. "When messing with the code, it can turn on the individual and the power would backlash at the human, usually killing them. Some of the other humans came to hate or fear them, and the gods decided that they would soon die off and had nothing to worry about. No one expected them to survive, but they managed to scrape by. You see, we made a mistake when we gave these individuals the power. Unlike the gods, the second group didn't have a set power limit and with each generation, their tolerance to the code's power grew larger and larger. Using the power slowly destroyed their bodies and would ultimately kill them, but they could still use larger sums of energy. Eventually, the power limit grew to a level where a few of the individuals could use huge amounts of energy. No one saw it coming, and by the time the gods could react... it was too late."
There were others who can change the coding besides the gods? Surely that's not possible, right? This is probably just some story my mind made up after I hit my head or something. Chances are I have a concussion right now or I'm in a coma. Maybe a coma?
"They second group gained the name 'hackers' and became quite well known throughout Minecraftia. They were drawn into the various conflicts that had befallen the land when the gods had loosened their rein on the world. The land of Minecraftia had divided into five provinces, each named after their geographical position and lead by a different government. When the gods declared the hackers the enemy they were offered asylum by the four provinces beyond the central province or modern day Capitol. Those who remained in the central province or we're unable to flee were killed. The central province was by far the most powerful and populous, but the outer provinces combined could put up a decent fight. A huge web of hackers or close friends of hackers formed throughout the world, and the remaining hackers had to remain hidden and live normal lives to prevent persecution. They were still feared by quite a bit of the population after all."
"That doesn't make sense," I cut in with a frown. "Why would the gods target the hackers? I'm sure they had some sort of a reason. Maybe the hackers were evil, or they were causing the world to be unbalanced, or-"
The voice sighs loudly and says, "Yes, of course the gods had a reason. We were just getting to that before you so rudely interrupted us! If you want an answer you had best stay quiet and only ask necessary questions!"
"So only ask the questions you purposely bait me into asking for your guys own amusement?" I ask, biting my tongue to hold back a harsher reply.
"Yes, only those ones. Now, where we're we? Oh, yes, the hackers were in hiding. So, as generations passed, the hackers grew more and more powerful. Their web slowly grew into a small, unnamed organization and they began to select an individual from each of the geographical provinces besides the central province. These individuals were usually the oldest or most powerful hacker within the province, and it became their job to monitor and protect the others. Despite the organization's best efforts, the hacker population continued to decline until there was only around a hundred individuals with the talent. At this time, the outer provinces were unable to hold out the central provinces army and they began scouring the countryside for the remaining hackers. The organization reacted immediately, moving them to the farthest reaches of the provinces that were almost impossible to reach without local help."
"Are the hackers evil? Yes or no? I don't understand where your going with this. When did any of this happen anyways?" I ask with a sigh and stare down at the world below me. On the edges of the world, I notice a dark fog appears to have formed at the edges of the world. "Hey, what's that? Why is there fog surrounding the edges of the Overworld?"
The voice pauses for a moment before replying, "We'll explain that in a second, you just need to be patient. You see, when the new dimensions were formed all those years ago, a special block was formed to control each dimension. These blocks were called "CodeBlocks" and granted the user control over the formation of the dimension. They were different from the other blocks because they could take on the appearance of any block and could be removed from the dimension without causing any damage. For some reason, the gods couldn't use them, but it was later discovered that the hacker could. You see, before the gods had realized that the hackers were a threat, a hacker accidentally came into contact with the Overworld's CodeBlock."
"So there's a block for each dimension, and each block controls its appointed dimension?" I ask, already knowing the answer and just speaking for the sake of annoying the coding. I give my brain credit, because if this is a dream, then I have one heck of an imagination. "What happened next?"
"A hacker tried to pick up the block, but the power was far too powerful for their body to handle. It imploded on itself, rupturing the fabric of the universe and starting a black hole in the center of the central province. If someone hadn't stopped it, the entire world would have collapsed on itself."
My eyes snap open in surprise. I try to imagine something like that happening but it seems impossible. "It what?" How would that even work?
"It was rather surprising, no one saw it coming... not even us. Someone eventually managed to close the CodeBlock, but upon doing it the block disintegrated and disappeared. No one knows exactly what happened to it, not even us. The CodeBlocks could destroy the universe, and only the hackers could use them. Such a thing spread horror throughout the provinces and the gods quickly hid the remaining three where no one could find them. At least that's what was supposed to happen. Two of the blocks were eventually stolen by an unknown identity and brought back to the Overworld. That individual mysteriously disappeared a short while later along with the two blocks."
"And this relates to me because..." I finally ask with a sigh. "Not that this isn't interesting or anything but... well..."
"We already told you not to ask questions and judging from your tone you don't believe us. You want proof, yes? Look in your hand, Steve, you are already in possession of our proof but don't know it yet. That charm in your hand, the one your grandfather gave you, it isn't a toy, Steve, it's the CodeBlock that was stolen from the End dimension thousands of years ago! You and only you can use it."
I pause and glance down at the silver object that had once again lodged itself in my hand. Where does it keep coming from? The block glows slightly before fading off and on for a second before everything catches up. "What-" I cry out in surprise and fling the block several blocks away. The second it hits the ground it disappears again and reappears in my hand. Oh heck no. "Go..."I throw the block. "Away." It reappears in my hand. "This isn't going to work, is it?"
"Unfortunately, once the CodeBlock had been with you for a decent amount of time it won't leave your presence unless you die." The voice answers the question, clearly amused by my little game of catch. "It will show up by your side, no matter what."
"Is there a way I can put it down?" I ask hopefully. There is no way I'm caring this thing in my hand for who knows how long. What did the Code say happened to the last person who had one of these things? Oh, yeah, it created a black hole. "Wait a second, I'm already dead! Why is it still following me?" For once the voice is silent and I find myself waiting for the answer. I'm not sure why, but for once I'm actually impatient for the answer. "Are you going to answer me?"
The second the words leave my mouth I immediately regret them. Before I can even try to apologize, my headache returns at full force and a green light flashes through the area. "Wake up."
"Wha-a..." I blink in surprise as the Overworld suddenly rushes towards me. The world grows more and more detailed with every moment and I begin to notice a few things about the world. For staters, the fog from earlier isn't covering part if the world, it seems to be making up part of the world. What in the world happened to the southern and northern regions of the Overworld? And since when have the Nether and The End been so close to the Overworld? They're practically attached... to... wait, what?
"You want an answer, correct? The answer you seek can only be found in the waking world. We do not know the way back, but there are others who do. There are others that know how to cheat death and could return you to the world."
I freeze at the comment. "I... I-I could go back?" My voice cracks in surprise, trying to hide the hope in my voice. I could go back? Back to my friends and the town and my shabby shack? Back to Maria and Tyler? "But... why? You're not here to help me, so why would you tell me this? What are you asking for in return?"
"Well, your certainly a clever human, we'll give you that." The voice is trying to mock me. "Very well, in return, all we want is for you to find the three others who posses CodeBlocks and bring them together. It's not an easy task, but if you succeed your role in this universe will become clear. Until then, we wish you good luck."
"Wait! How am I suppose to find the other three!" I ask in confusion. "How do I even get back, anyways? I'm dead, remember!"
"Really? Please stop deceiving yourself. At first it was rather amusing but now it's just annoying. You have always known the answer, subconsciously at least, but you refuse to agree with it. Embrace your past, Steve, it may not be as pretty as some, but you will need 'both' parts of your personality to accomplish your task. Oh, and the next time you see East, tell him to awaken your body in the physical world. The fragments are a good place to recover, but it's not a permanent place, not for you, anyways."
The world suddenly disappears below me and the last thing I hear is. "How nice to see you again, E-" and the voice cuts out, causing me to jolt awake and nearly hit my head on the tree branch above me. I blink for a few moments as I try to regain my bearings.
What just happened? That entire conversation... it was a dream? No, that can't be right, I know it was more then that. It was a dream, I know it was! It had to be, right? I shake my head as the headache returns once again. Apparently I wasn't imagining that. With a sigh, I lay back down and stare at the tree branch above me. I can't believe I'm actually taking this so seriously, it was a dream for Notch's sake... but then why I feel like I'm lying to myself when I say that? Everything the "Code" told me was a lie, it has to be... and I just acknowledged its existence, didn't I? Crud.
It has to be a lie though, it has to be! The history it spoke of isn't recorded in any books, It obviously doesn't exist! Then again, why aren't their any records from before a thousand years ago? I thought the world hadn't existed, but maybe... No, I'm overthinking this. I'm definitely overthinking this! Unless it was true and someone wiped the events from our history to prevent anyone from ever knowing. No, that couldn't have happened, no one has the power to destroy such a thing, right? Why am I even thinking about this? This is just making my headache worse.
Besides, what happened to the hackers in the end? They never did explain that, or why exactly I'm in possession of the code block. The mysterious individual took them, so why would my grandfather... why would he have been in possession of...? Oh, well, I guess that would be the rational thought process... b-but that can't be right! Surely my family isn't involved with the hackers. My eyes find the silver block still stuck to the inside of my hand.
Then again, the Code also said that humans can't connect to the code block, but that would mean...I toss it towards one of the trees on the other side of the clearing, but it reappears in my hand a few seconds later. Yeah, I get the feeling I'm connected to it, but that would mean... wouldn't that make me-. No, I'm being irrational! I must still be in a dream! Without thinking, I slam my hand into the nearest tree and cringe at the impact. Nope, not a dream.
"What in the world are you doing?" A voice asks, seemingly concerned with my well being at the moment. I'm probably making really strange faces to accompany my thoughts... and I just punched a tree for no apparent reason. Yeah, if I was someone else I'd be concerned as well.
With a sigh, I look up and spot a figure sitting on one of the lower branches of an ancient oak tree. The branches of the tree seems to reach out towards the sky and almost block out the sun completely. With the sun directly behind the figure, I can't make out any details other then a shadowy outline of a person sitting on a tree branch. "You are Steve Elder, correct?"
I blink in surprise before replying, "Yes, I believe so, and you are?"
There's a slight chuckle before the figure replies, "I've had many names throughout my life, but I suppose that's not an answer. You may call me Katrina, or Kaji if you prefer." There's a pause. "It's been a long time since the I last saw a member of the Elder family."
"You know my family?" I blurt out in surprise, trying and failing to hide the curiosity and I bit of fear that lingers in my voice. "I mean... well...uh..."
"Of course I know them. A powerful family, certainly among the most powerful in the world. They were a hacker family, one that struck fear into the hearts of everyone, even the gods themselves. In fact, the head of the family was the first one to successfully use Void energy, a feat that had never been previously accomplished!"
My stomach seems to drop through the floor. A hacker family? Struck fear into the hearts of everyone? Void energy? No, she has to be lying, there's no way my ancestors were part of such a thing. "You're lying to me... I-I know you.. you have to be!"
"Ah, so you didn't know such things, did you? My apologies, I thought you already knew. Your memories should have returned by now... meaning you are restraining them because you don't wish to remember? From the way you were flinching earlier I'm guessing you have one heck of a headache, do you not? By repressing your memories you are harming yourself. Only by allowing yourself to remember will the pain stop and will your destiny continue. Unless you want to see your world and everyone on it destroy itself?"
"What! No! Of course not!" I reply in shock. "I just can't remember, okay? I'm suppose to remember stuff, I know that, but I just can't, okay? I just can't! All i know is that I woke up about a month ago with no memories and Maria was there when I woke up. Everything before that is blank and it bugs me, okay? It bugs me that I can't remember my family or my life before coming here. I want to know who I am but I just... I just... I just can't, okay? I just can't."
I blink in surprise when my knees hit something soft. At some point during the speech my legs must have given out on me. I lean over to try and push myself up but notice that the code block in my hand has started glowing dimly. What in the world? "That's all I needed to know. Congratulations, Steve, you passed the test." The world in enveloped in a glowing white light ,and I can't help but wonder why this feels like déjà vu.
Infinity: Yay! Stuff actually happens in this chapter! *High fives self*
Steve: Why am I so moody this chapter :(
Maria: Yeah, what's up with that? And why is Tyler... uh...
Tyler: *:D* I have no idea what you guys are talking about ;)
Maria and Steve: Uh... yeah... sure you don't
Tyler: ;)
Brandon: Anyone else kind of creeped out by this?
Tyler: *Silentely disappears into the night like a ninja*
Maria: Uh... what happened to Tyler?
Infinity: He disappeared like a ninja... actually, he's hiding behind a tree somewhere, but that's unimportant!
Steve: Uh... Yeah... Okay
Apricot: *Is sneaking up behind Tyler with a frying pan*
Herobrine: *Magically appears* So... why haven't I appeared in almost half a year?
Infinity: Uh... ... ... you have a mission off screen but it would give away part of the plot so I can't talk about it. Also, that might be a lie and you simply haven't appeared because I am lazy and you're not particularly needed in the plot at the moment
Herobrine: *Snorts* Someone's being lazy
Infinity: No! :( I just have like studies and stuff to do. You guys are super lucky and don't have to go to school or do homework. Can you read two of the Japanese alphabets? Yeah, I didn't think so. ビアロープライン の ばす。
Maria: True
Steve: What? Hey, thats not english! ._.?
Herobrine: Real mature... that's really mature.
Infinity: Hey, I learned that on the very first day of school! Besides, I could totally bring like past and present verbs into it and say who you're with and where you are and what you have in your possession and-
Steve: Japanese sounds complicated
Infinity: Hehe, try Chinese. It kind of scares me how many symbols they have. I mean at least Japanese has an actual alphabet. Actually, they have two of them, but that beside the point. One is for English words and one is for words from other countries. So you can sit there and be reading and realize that the word is actually "hamburger" or "New York"... in a really weird spelling.
A/N: Anyways, hello again. So...I've been gone for a really... rrrreallly long time. *._. I'm so sorry! Don't hate me!* I just... hmm... I started having problems with this story, I guess? I would try to write but I would always get bored after a few minutes and walk away or do something else. I really just stopped caring about the story for a little while. Anyways, hope you liked the chapter and because this chapter is so long and probably confusing, I'm going to attach a brief summary at he end just to explain some things.
Summary: Tyler has been acting this entire time. His natural personality IS actually rather serious (not the kind of a goofball/ jokester kind of person), but when his parents passed away, he took up the appearance to cover for Maria who is not the most stable person emotionally. She's really good at hiding it though it's popped up at a few points and will eventually come out later in the story. (Think about a toy that someone keeps putting duck tape on in order to fix it but eventually there's too many breaks to actually fix it and it finally breaks.) She also breaks her "hero's mark", which is actually just a very powerful spell that gives the user a longer life span and heightened power levels. Why she wants to break it is currently unknown but it has to do with the mysterious books.
Fate has re-spawned in the shadow's dimension, but instead of the normal shadowy fog that we usually see, there's a strange, disconnected civilization surrounded by shadowy fog named the "degeneration". (This is sort of important) The same shadowy fog that is currently destroying much of the Overworld and is drawing The End and Nether closer together. I wonder why that is? ;)
Steve: Is oh so very confused. He's been stuck in limbo for a while now and all of the changes are starting to send him insane. Basically, he's been repressing his memories unconsciously because they aren't very pretty and he wants to live in normality for a little while longer. (Ignorance is bliss kind of thing) He knows almost everything but his mind won't let him remember for some reason. He IS related to the Shadows, and Fate is his younger sister (Etc... Them having the same last name) who he has no memories of. His parents are both dead, but he doesn't know that and neither does Fate. Also, the CodeBlock is very important to the story and might just have some of the answers he's looking for.
Hackers: A small group of humans that was given the power to distort the coding of the universe. Unlike their predecessors, they are not immortal and live a normal human life span. The "Gods" power is tied to the stability of the world (Which is why all of their spells are failing right now), but hackers can use as much power as their physical bodies can handle. The downside to this is that using their abilities, they are slowly killing themselves. (Which is why Fate is always cautious when using her power and is weakened afterwards) They are the only ones able to use CodeBlock's and can use them, if needed, to collapse entire dimensions. The Overworld's CodeBlock is missing. There is no record of them in any history book and they mysteriously disappeared before the era system started. Their connection to the shadow's is unknown at this time.
So, what did you guys think? Was this super confusing? If you need an explanation on anything else you can ask it in a review or PM me and I'll do my best to answer it. Anyways, hope you guys liked this chapter and I'm really curious as to what you guys are thinking or predicting will happen next. Thanks :D
