The battle between Sora and Hunter began with high tension. But what was supposed to be a simple fight turned into a life and death match that had a strange similarity between the match they had before. Makoto Nanaya, the person who they were fighting for this entire time watched in horror of her two best friends who were trying to protect her. This leads to more confusion as to which friend is trying to protect her when Sora Minakaze shielded her from a sudden attack. But as an omnimous force looms over our favourite squirrel beastkin, we begin to wonder who will save her this time?

And Now, The continuation of Academic Surge.

Makoto's eyes fluttered as her eyes were strained from the fluorescent lighting of the white corridor. The white square walls looked the same in her eyes as she stretched her arms a bit. Looking forward, she looked to see an operation room at her right. 'Ahhh...that's right...I'm in the hospital right now.' Makoto thought as she rested her head on the wall. Today's events drained her heavily, both physically and mentally.

All she wanted to do was sleep it all off, forget it ever happened as she failed to do so. Every time she did so, all she could think was what happened today and what was currently happening right now. As her mind refused to stop thinking, she gave up trying to forget this ever happened. Instead she decided to focus her attention to recalling what happened to her in just a few hours as she stared at the clock, the ticking it made serving to make the only sound she can hear at the moment as she closed her eyes.

FLASHBACK

MAKOTO POV

No matter how much I tried to forget everything I had seen, the scene that was shown in front of me was just...too unreal. My two best friends were fighting against each other, and it really does look like one of them had just won. Sora managed to land a powerful blow right at Hunter's chest that literally ripped holes right behind at his top clothes. Hunter was not responding as I really thought that blow had killed him outright. I mean... TWO FUCKING TORNADOES CAME OUT FROM HIS BACK! THAT SHOULD KILL ANYONE!

If that wasn't shocking enough, Hunter actually started twitching back to life as Sora was not paying attention at all. Hunter's fist began to rise as I swear it was like watching a kung-fu movie...only this one was even more violent than those. He then swung a haymaker punch that knocked Sora squarely to the ground. All I heard after that was a violent thud as I couldn't help but shudder at the sight of such brutality.

'Is...Is it all over?' I asked myself, hoping that this unnecessary fighting was finally over. Sliding to my back on the rocky wall, I decided to relax my nerves. Can we finally get out of this death trap of a cave before...before... What...What is that thing? My eyes dart at a glimmer of something close to me. As they did so, the thing moved closer as to my horror...it was another chimera... but this one looked completely different.

Instead of the weird looking shape of the other chimeras, this chimera looked most like a feline. It's mane looked like electricity was jutting out of them and the spiked tail resembled a cobra's sharp fang. It's eyes glared menacingly like daggers as it easily towers all the other chimeras. Can...Can Seithr really create such a beast like this!? I couldn't help but feel my legs shake and lose their strength. This was no creature I could one hit punch like the others...this thing was too large and dense!

"Stay...Stay away..." I said in shock as the beast approached me. It's back was harshly facing towards me like a statue, the stance it took while it walked was cold and ruthless. All the feeling I had within me escaped as I felt my panties get wet. This thing is terrifying me...So much so I accidentally pissed on myself! I don't want to die like this...No...No! Suddenly, I struck a dead end, no way of crawling to safety, facing this lumbering beast. Please...No...I don't want to die...anything but death...Anything...but...

"SOMEONE PLEASE SAVE ME!"

I closed my eyes tightly, curling myself into a defensive ball position. Surely one of them would save me...Right...RIGHT!? The beast merely growled at me, as I felt it's breath right at the dome of my head. I couldn't yell anymore, my voice felt like it was being drowned out by this Chimera's presence. All I can really do now...is just...wait for my inevitable death by the teeth of this thing...that's all I can do now...

Mommy...Daddy...Everyone...I'm so sorry...I'm sorry for having to die like this... I know that it was too soon but... I...I...

Before those words could form up completely in my mind, a loud bone snapping crunch pierced it's way onto my ears...and it was followed by flesh being stabbed through. Do I dare try opening my eyes? Am I dead right now? Something warm dripped onto my legs as it flowed right past it like water. "...Need...me to save you twice now huh..." A voice spoke as my eyes still did not dare to open out of sheer fear. A hand then touched my forehead as I felt the same warmth from before, making me finally open my eyes.

When I did so, I gasped in pure horror, not even making a sound as I did so. I was staring in front of me, the shape of a person with a red blade right through his chest. The chimera from before, it's sharp teeth digging their way to his shoulder and one piercing a portion of his neck. How can he still be even breathing like this...which such wounds...he should be dead. "Hey...don't look at me like that...it feels so pitiful." the voice spoke to me as I faced him square in his eyes. His white hair with yellow tips covered them but I knew I was staring right at them.

Me: Why...Why do you just keep saving me? Why...There's no need to throw your life away for someone like me.

Man with White hair and yellow tips: Throw away my life huh...maybe I didn't have one to begin with.

Me: Didn't...have one...to begin with?

Man with White hair and yellow tips: My entire life...was just...wasting away...trying to find meaning...meaning as to what is life...meaning as to what I should do... I had many close friends...but at the same time...I felt like I could never connect with them...stand by their side... or even trust myself to trust them.

Me:...Friends?...

Man with White hair and yellow tips:...Then...I met you...it's strange...you are just like...Nee-san...always pressing on me, always trying to get into my business...when it's not yours to begin with...It's so strange...

Me:...Please...what are you ram...

Man with White hair and yellow tips: I...am glad...I met you...Makoto Nanaya...

His hand...slipped from my forehead as he collapsed to the ground, the sword no longer in his chest as more of his blood poured onto my clothes. His eyes were closed and breathing shallow. He's losing so much blood right now...it's like a river. "Hey...don't...don't you dare...What are you saying..." I stuttered, my voice quivering as I looked at that person's pale ...NO! YOU DON'T HAVE TO DIE FOR ME!

FLASHBACK END

I snapped out of my thoughts only to realize I was in a deep sleep. I felt grogginess take over my body for a short while before it left abruptly. I felt so much like shit the moment I snap out of my sleep as I adjusted myself on the hospital couch. Today's events really wore me down to shreds, I never had such crazy experiences happen to me before. I want to avoid sounding like a record that is stuck on repeat as I saw Noel and Tsubaki right in front of me.

"Makoto...are you alright?" Tsubaki asked out of concern as I just nodded my head to her. She and Noel were the people responsible for finding us in that cave, leading the search party and all after it went past curfew. Noel's eyes looked at me with so much concern, those green orb like eyes always get to me in the end. "What's on your mind Noellie?" I asked out of concern, trying to sound as cheerful as a person could be in such a stressful time.

"Makoto...What...did you see down there...why were those two so badly injured?" Noel asked as I immediately flinched at her question. I really didn't want to answer that question right now, I am still trying to find out what is going on right now. "W-Well...How are those two?" I asked back, pretending to not hear the question Noel asked as Tsubaki patted my shoulder, "Well...both of them suffered really bad injuries...I think that is the most important thing you should know right now." Tsubaki said as I merely nodded my head at that.

"I see...are they alright?" I asked as Noel nodded her head. "H-Hunter's...alright...he had to be operated on due to having...a lot of broken bones and internal bleeding inside. He even broke one of his arms and four of his ribs somehow..." Noellie said sadly as I lowered my head. "Did...those chimeras below the cave...do this to him?" Noellie asked, begging for answers. I really wanted to lie at this moment, sparing her the pain of knowing that he was badly hurt by someone else. "Y-yeah...the chimeras did that to him..." I lied as Tsubaki sighed.

"Makoto...you don't have to do that... the report we got from the doctor said that all of the wounds he received were all caused from blunt force trauma..." Tsubaki said as I bit on my lips a little bit as Noel looked at me even more sad. "Please tell me Makoto...that Hunter...Hunter..." Noel couldn't bring it to finish her sentence as Tsubaki held her shoulder. "It's alright Noel... we will go and see him when he wakes up alright." Tsubaki said as Noel felt reassured by her words.

For a moment there, I felt Tsubaki's disappointment for a split second for my attempt to lie to spare Noel the truth. I couldn't help but feel a bit pissed off at Tsubaki's judgement but it's understandable why she would feel that way. "I'm sorry Tsubaki...I just didn't want to worry Noel...that's all." I apologized to Tsubaki as she felt the genuinity of my words. "It's alright Makoto... I can understand why you would do that... I am not going to judge you for doing so." Tsubaki said in her most gentle voice, which was a nice sound to my ears from the constant shouting hours ago.

"Thanks for understanding Tsubaki...I just have one question...what about Sora?" I asked as Noel and Tsubaki both became quiet. A sense of dread began to crawl up to my back as I felt like I stepped on a landmine. "You guys...is there something I should know...about Sora?" I asked once again as Noel swallowed her saliva, reluctant to say a single word. Tsubaki must have felt the same way as she looked away for a moment before recomposing herself.

"Makoto...Sora's...currently dying from blood loss right now." the moment Tsubaki said those words, my heart felt like it had gotten ripped out of my chest and was forced into a deep abyss. I stood up from my seat...only to collapse to the ground. If Noel and Tsubaki didn't catch me at that moment, I would have most likely fainted from hearing them say those words. "Makoto! Are you alright!?" Noel asked me in deep concern as I looked at her with a smile on my face, trying to not betray my true feelings inside.

"Yeah Noellie~ I just tried to force myself to stand up! That's all!" I said to Noel which helped to ease the tension she felt. As they helped me up to my feet, I looked at the operation room to see the light that saids in operation still operational. "How...how long has he been in there." I questioned as Tsubaki looked at me with some concern in her eyes before she relented. "He's been there for a few hours now, the doctor has been trying to stabilize him ever since he finished Hunter's operation." she explained as I sat back at the seat.

"We are heading back to the dorm...do you want to come with us...it's been a long day." Noel asked as I stared at my bloody uniform. An outfit change would be really good to have right now but... Sora was just deep in my mind right now for me to leave him right now. "It's...It's alright Noel. Why don't you two go ahead back to the dorms. I will stay here at the hospital." I said as Noel and Tsubaki looked at me with concern. I can understand their worries as I decided to reassure them that everything is going to be alright.

Me: Noel, Tsubaki, It's alright. I know that you two are worried for me right now. And it's understandable and all but I need you both to trust me

Noel: Are you sure Makoto? You just had experienced stuff that may require you to take a break.

Me: It's alright Noel, I actually tried resting and it didn't work. So probably the best solution for me is to stay by his side.

Tsubaki: Are you sure? Your clothes are still quite bloody.

Me: Yeah Tsubaki. I can change when I get back from the hospital. So don't worry about my clothes being that dirty.

Tsubaki:...*Sigh*...I guessed that you might say that. I should have brought you something to change into...

Me: Aww, you don't have to go that far for me Tsubaki.

Noel: Why not? Isn't that what friends are for in the end Makoto?

The moment I heard the word friends come out from Noel's mouth, I couldn't help but feel touched by them. Tsubaki then took off her jacket as she laid it on my body. "Here you go, hold on to it. You can pass it back to me when you get back." Tsubaki said as I smiled at her kindness. "Thank you Tsubaki...I really appreciate it." I said as I took her jacket and placed it on my chest. The smell of flowers went up my nose as it felt really pleasant actually.

"It's getting late..." Noel said as she yawned. Tsubaki chuckled as she allowed Noel to lay on her shoulder. "There there Noel...you must be feeling worn out from what you experienced today huh." Tsubaki said as Noel just merely nodded her head on her shoulder. I smiled at that as I relaxed on my seat. "Wish I could see you guys off...but I am too tired to even move right now." I said as Tsubaki and Noel just nodded.

"We understand Makoto. You take care of yourself alright." Tsubaki said as she gave me a hug. My face pressed on her breasts as I felt the comfort they gave, which felt so...soft. "Good Night Makoto. Please stay safe for us." Noel said as she joined in on the hug. Feeling their warmth was the best thing I ever could experience right now as the events of today was just too much for me to bear alone.

After seeing them away from view, I laid my head on the wall as I tried to get some rest once more. Once again, my mind refused to let me sleep, maybe due to the anxiety I felt deep within me. Even though today's events were wild and unexpected...they happened because of me. I was the reason why Sora and Hunter got hurt in the first place...If I didn't run off like that, I wouldn't have caused everyone this much trouble.

If I had not run into the forest, Tsubaki, Noel and the others wouldn't have to waste their time to find us, worried sick of all things. If I had just ran off like what Hunter told me, I wouldn't have caused so much worry and danger for the two of them...but the worst of all, the worst offender of them all... If I had just not made the assumption that Sora was out to kill me...None of this would have happened in the first place.

'WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU DOING!? YOU'RE MESSING EVERYTHING UP!' A voice yelled in my mind. A disapproving voice as I felt a shiver crawl up my body. 'STUPID BEASTKIN! GET AWAY FROM HERE BEFORE YOU SCREW SOMETHING UP!" Another voice shouted, the shivers becoming worse. 'UGH! WHAT AN UGLY SIGHT! YOU BEASTKIN ARE SUCH CLUMSY IDIOTS!' A feminine voice yelled as I began to cry hard. No...No...Just stop...I don't deserve this...I don't deserve any of this!...Just stop!

'YOU DON'T WEAR A BRA!? OMG SLUT ALERT!' A familiar voice yelled...the voice of the female bitch that nearly got me expelled from the academy in the first place! UGH! I JUST WANT ALL OF THEM TO SHUT UP! STOP JUDGING ME! "LOOK AT HER! KISSING WITHOUT A CARE IN THE WORLD! BEASTKINS LIKE HER ARE NOTHING BUT BITCHES IN HEAT!' A voice yelled as in the end, I couldn't take their abuse anymore as tears flowed down my eyes.

Why...Why does everyone wish to degrade me!? What did I do to them!? I never did anything to them that was physical or even hurt them! SO WHY DO THEY WANT TO HURT ME!? IS IT BECAUSE I JUST HAVE FEATURES THAT ARE AN ANIMALS! IS THAT WHY I AM BULLIED ON! ABUSED ON! WHY! WHY! WHY DOES EVERYONE LOVE TO HATE ME!

"Miss Nanaya? Are you alright?" A voice spoke gently as my eyes opened after closing so tightly. Looking at where the voice came from, I noticed a man with chestnut hair as he pushed up his spectacles. He wore the normal doctor's uniform, a lab coat with a fancy suit with some pens on his pocket and stethoscope. "Ahh...the doctor around here..." I said casually as I wiped away the tears building up in my eyes. I can't believe I am starting to hear voices in my head...am I going insane now?

"Is something bothering you right now?" The doctor asked as I just shook my head. "It's alright doctor, You don't have to worry about me you know. I am completely alright right now. Just worried for Sora that's all." I said as the doctor's eyes are really sharp. "Ahhh...You must be worried for his health then..." The doctor replied as I merely shook my head. "I really am Doctor...Ummm..." Shoot. I forgot that he hasn't told me his name yet.

"Stanwick, the name's Doctor Stanwick. It's a pleasure to make your acquaintance Miss Nanaya." he said with politeness in his voice. He sure is trying his best to make me feel relaxed...good to know doc...good to know. " Doctor Stanwick...please...I need to know...what is Sora's condition now...I need to know." I asked as he looked at me with a bit of a grim face. Taking a deep breath, he sat down next to me. "Listen to me Makoto...I am going to tell you what I just told your classmates." He explained as I just nodded my head.

Taking another breath, he was ready to give his explanation. "...I will not try to sugar coat this... Sora Minakaze's injuries are very severe. It's a mystery by itself how he was able to stay alive like the way he is right now." He said as I myself was stunned. I mean sure he took a lightning bolt, had his arm frozen and got severely burned but being stabbed through the chest and bitten by venemous Chimera. This is utterly ridiculous even for me to hear!

"First of all...he suffered multiple slash wounds all over his body, some of them opening up wounds that healed up before. After that, he got stabbed right through the back of his spine where it miraculously managed to avoid his heart. However we don't even know if he will become a paralytic because of the hole of the wound on his spine. The stab wound however did manage to pierce one of his lungs and two of his right rib's bones." I was merely in disbelief as he took a breath to continue giving out Sora's injuries.

"The least severe of the wounds were the various bites he recieved from the Chimeras. Granted one of them did manage to pierce a blood vessel, the areas they managed to bite him were not too deep but they still have traces of poison in them. That is all of the wounds he suffered from this incident." Doctor Stanwick said as he finally finished his report on Sora's injuries. My god...these are the worst injuries I have ever heard. This would have been bad if one person had to suffer just one of them but Sora somehow managed to land on all of them!

"That...is not all though." The moment Doctor Stanwick said those words, I couldn't help but feel a deep crawling fear digging it's way to my back. It will not go away, no matter what I tried to tell myself. "His heart...has been severely strained because of this...I'm afraid he doesn't have much time to live anymore." The moment he said those words, I swore the world around me just stopped making sound. The only thing I could hear was my throat trying to swallow saliva, my sweat dripping down my forehead and my feet shaking greatly despite sitting down.

"How...How long does he have exactly?" I asked reluctantly as Stanwick remained quiet. "Please Doctor...How long does he have to live..." I asked once more as Stanwick took a deep breath and finally told me. "...He will...die in a few days...We are not sure of the date ourselves, but that we are sure off." I cannot believe what I am hearing right now...Sora Minakaze...one of my friends...is going to die in a few days... I feel so devastated... I couldn't believe the words I heard Doctor Stanwick said.

"That...is if he even survives right now." Stanwick continued as I looked at him stunned. There was more to it than him suffering a heart attack and dying!? "What...what else is there to it?" I asked as Doctor Stanwick took a deep breath. Before he could say however, from the hospital's operating room, a nurse bursted out from the room. Her forehead was sweating heavily and her breathing panted hard as she looked at Stanwick with wide eyes.

"D-DOCTOR! THE PATIENT...HE'S STILL LOSING BLOOD!" The nurse shouted as Doctor Stanwick stood up in shock. "DIDN'T YOU GIVE HIM THE BLOOD PACKS!?" Stanwick asked as the Nurse nodded her head. "I DID...AND HE DIDN'T STABILIZE! I USED UP ALL OF THE BLOOD PACKS WE HAVE TO GET HIM AT LEAST TO 50%!" The nurse said back as my eyes widened in shock and horror.

"Dammit! We used all the blood that was for his blood type... unless someone with his blood type shows up he is not going to make it to tomorrow." Doctor Stanwick said in defeat as I took a deep breath. There has to be something I can do for Sora...There has to be! "D-Doctor...what is Sora's blood type?" I asked as Doctor Stanwick looked at me with some worry in his eyes. "Blood Type O...Do you know someone who may have that blood type?"

Blood...Type...O!? Wait a minute...That's my blood type!? "I...I'm a blood type O doctor." I said in my shock as both Doctor and Nurse looked at me with such shock. "This...This a highly unprecedented coincidence!" Doctor Stanwick said in his shocked state as the nurse herself was wondering about the coincidences about this. "So Please Doctor...I want to save his life...Let me give blood to Sora!" I begged as I got to my knees and bowed.

I don't know whether the doctor in front of me will think of me as insane...But I have to try at least! "Miss Nanaya...even if you give your blood to him...he is still going to die...Wouldn't it be better for us to just stop the operation and allow him to pass on?" Doctor Stanwick said as...all the horror I felt build up within me exploded at once. No...NO! I CANNOT LET THAT HAPPEN! "PLEASE DOCTOR! THERE IS SOMETHING I NEED TO ASK SORA ABOUT! PLEASE!" I begged as the nurse looked at me funny.

"...I'm Sorry Miss Nanaya. Even if there is something you wish to ask him...I just don't know if he will wake up in time for your questions even with the blood transfusion being successful." Stanwick explained as the seeds of horror began to sow deep within my heart. Is this it? Will I have to say goodbye to a friend like this? No...Not like this...NOT LIKE THIS!

I...am glad...I met you...Makoto Nanaya...

NOT WHEN HE SAID WORDS LIKE THAT!

"PLEASE DOCTOR! I WISH TO PROLONG HIS LIFE JUST A BIT LONGER! I NEED TO GIVE HIM THAT MUCH FOR BEING SO NICE TO ME THIS ENTIRE TIME!" I yelled from the top of my lungs. From all those times that the snot nosed brats bullied me...that alleyway incident where I nearly got raped... to all those cases where I was harassed for being a beastkin... Sora always stood in front of the hail of fire coming for me. He protected me with everything he got. Not even a shred of doubt or hesitation was present when he did those things. He just took it all in and went with it!

"I BEG OF YOU DOCTOR! IF I DON'T DO THIS THEN I WILL NOT BE ABLE TO LIVE WITH MYSELF!" I screamed once more. I will not let him die...I already betrayed his trust of me today. I doubted him...Thought he was trying to murder like all those years ago. I was wrong about that in all cases...he didn't want to murder me...He was trying to save me still! And I shoved his concern down the drain...

I WANT TO BELIEVE IN HIM AGAIN!

Silence...nothing but silence was heard...My breathing was intense...my sweat didn't dare drop to the ground. I remained bowing in front of the good doctor in front of me...please...please accept my plea! "...Alright Miss Nanaya...If you are that determined to go through with this transfusion...I will accept your request." Doctor Stanwick spoke as my eyes darted for his own. Did...I really hear him say those words. He...He accepted my request! "But know...should your life be in danger in any way..." I knew it...he is going to give me a catch...I can't let him!

"You will stop the transfusion immediately...am I right?" I said shocking the doctor stone cold. "I know that is the condition you are going to give me and all...But I cannot accept that...Until his life is stabilized, Do not stop the transfusion for whatever reason. Even if it kills me!" I said with a burning determination deep within me. I know this is just incredibly crazy of me to say and all...But I do mean the words I say from the bottom of my heart!

"...Very well Miss Nanaya...if you are willing to go through with this...Then I cannot stop your resolve... If you're willing to risk your life to this extreme." Doctor Stanwick said as I bowed down once again before standing up. "We just need to do a quick blood analysis to confirm that you are both a blood type O and capable for the transfusion. Once those two are clear we can proceed with the process. Follow me into the office, we don't have time to waste." He continued as he rushed back to his office.

This is it...There's no turning back time with this decision Makoto... You have to accept it right now. The sun began to slowly rise as dawn broke through the hospital window. I must have been in here for a very long time now huh. I made a small sigh as I knew what I was going to do next was make the others worry for me even more now. 'Sorry everyone...I've made up my mind about this...There's no going back with my choice.' I said in my mind as I walked to Doctor Stanwick's room.

Sora...Just like you have saved me all those times...It's my turn...
