Chapter 38: Breaking Through

I'm back, and with a new chapter!

So the last chapter seemed pretty good from my point of view, and a lot of you liked it as well. It's obviously my first time doing something like this, so I'm a little nervous as to how it would turn out. But now that the nervousness has passed, I'm confident that my next chapters will be even better.

Now then a small message for everyone. When you are reviewing, please talk about this story only. If you wish to talk about my other stories, then do so on there. Yeah, I'm speaking to you Guest!

Now then, without further adieu, on with the show!

(Dark City-Outside The Wall)

Sora stood on top of one of the buildings as he looked out for enemies. He was placed at this spot with Aqua in order to help cover the perimeter of their base camp. While they had successfully unloaded all of their troops and war machines, they still needed to set up a proper base.

"Terra..." Aqua muttered as she looked sadly at the castle.

"Don't worry," Sora told her, "we'll get him back."

"It's not that simple," Aqua said, "Terra's heart has been suppressed by Xehanort's darkness. I was able to reach him all those years ago because it was only a short amount of time after he was taken over. And back in Atlantis, we were close to the World's Heart, so its light must have weakened Xehanort's hold."

"But now we're here, in this dark world, and I don't know if we can reach him in all this darkness," Aqua admitted.

"We'll get him back," a voice said behind from her. Aqua turned around to see Ven there with an Angemon.

"What are you guys doing here?" Sora asked.

"We were sent to bring you to the wall," Angemon told him. "King Lighteron is preparing to move out. It is time."

Sora nodded and followed the Angemon, leaving his senior Keyblade Wielders alone.

"Ven...I-" Aqua began.

Ven held up his hand and said, "Don't worry Aqua, I'm a little scared too."

"Huh?" Aqua replied. "But I'm not-"

"Don't lie to yourself, I can see it in your eyes," Ven cut her off. "You're scared that we won't be able to get Terra back. And that's something that I'm afraid off too."

"But I have faith that we'll see him again on this world and free him from Xehanort!" Ven declared.

Aqua couldn't help but chuckle at his words. "How can you be so optimistic at a time like this?"

Ven rubbed the back of his head sheepishly. "I guess...I got a bit of Sora in me," Ven said. "I guess that with all those years being stuck in his heart made me a bit more cheerful."

"You're right though," Aqua admitted. "I need to have faith, and believe that Terra will break free like he almost did way back then."

"Yeah, now let's go," Ven said as he offered her his hand. Aqua nodded and took his hand, and he hoisted her up from where she was sitting.

"Say, Ven," Aqua began. "There's something that I've been meaning to ask you."

"What's up?" Ven replied.

"Do you...like me?" Aqua asked, closing her eyes tightly.

Ven raised an eyebrow. "What are you talking about, of course I like you. You're like a sister to me."

"Eh?" Was her intelligent reply.

Ven's eyes then widened in realization. "Is this about that thing back in Station Square?" he asked. When she nodded he sighed. "What Sora felt was me being protective of you. I know that you were just trying to keep yourself from getting electrocuted, but I still felt a little protective of you. What gave you the idea that I liked you that way?"

Aqua groaned and rubbed her temples. "I listened to Shin of all people."

Ven chuckled and asked her, "So, are we okay?"

"Yeah," Aqua replied. "Sorry for assuming differently."

"It's fine, I was wondering when you would bring it up anyway," Ven grinned.

(Base Camp)

"Everything's ready my King," MagnaAngemon told the God of Light. "The Guardians and Knights, barring Lord Alphamon, have arrived at the wall

"Very good," Lighteron nodded. "Tell Omnimon to start sending everyone out, I shall be at the wall when he arrives."

MagnaAngemon bowed and left the small tent. Lighteron turned back to the small table and looked at the holo-map of The World That Never Was. He zoomed out and looked at the wall that separated them from the castle.

He then turned the map so that it would display the space battle. So far, it looked like it was in a stalemate. While Examon's forces were taking out ships, the Dreadnought was also taking out some of their ships with its mega cannon. Lighteron could see that Examon was assembling an assault force to take out the Dreadnought.

"Lighteron, reports say that there are no enemies between us and the wall, it appears that they've retreated behind it," Alphamon informed him as he entered.

"I suspected that they would do so," Lighteron muttered. "No matter, this only allows us to break in without any difficulty. But it doesn't mean that we should be careless."

"Agreed," Alphamon said as he left the tent. Lighteron closed his eyes for a moment before he exited the tent as well. He passed the two Knightmon that were guarding the entrance and climbed up into a scout car alongside Alphamon.

"Take me to the wall," Lighteron ordered. The driver nodded and started up the car, taking the God of Light and the Dawn Knight to the massive structure of defence.

(The Castle That Never Was)

"So what now?" Vanitas asked Saïx. "They're here, but we're not there."

"Patience, we will be heading out soon," Saïx told his partner. "Xehanort will soon order us to head out and fight the Guardians in order to forge the last few fragments of the X-Blade."

"And that's when we slip away," Vanitas finished.

"So I'm not the only one with thoughts of desertion here," a new voice said.

"Who's there?!" Saïx demanded as he summoned his Claymore, Vanitas summoning the Void Gear in response.

"Relax, it's apparent that we're on the same side," the voice continued. "For I also know that Xehanort plans to betray us in the end."

"Then why are you here?" Vanitas questioned.

The voice chuckled. "Originally, to destroy you and give the Guardians a better fighting chance. But that was before the knowledge of you planning to leave became known to me."

Saïx lowered his Claymore slightly. "Then it appears that working together would boost our chances of success."

"Yes, yes it does," the voice said as a figure appeared in the shadows. "So what do you say? Shall we work together and rid ourselves of these chains that shackle us to Xehanort?"

"I never expected you to be one to betray them," Vanitas remarked as he lowered his Keyblade.

"The revelation of secrets can change ones perspective on many things. Someone I know can attest to that," the figure told him.

Saïx smirked. "Well then...let us prepare for the next phase."

(The Wall)

"Nothing's working," Omnimon growled as he lowered his cannon. The large energy blast from his cannon had only left a large burn mark on the wall. So far they had nothing that could break down the large structure.

"Can't we just climb it?" Shin suggested.

Aegisdramon turned to him and asked, "And how do you propose we get these behemoths up and over it?" He gestured to the large tanks and walkers that were behind him.

"What about going under?" Lea suggested.

"We don't know if the wall extends underground," Magnamon answered. "Besides, we don't have any digging equipment."

"What I'd like to know is how they made this thing in so little time," Even said as he looked up at the wall.

"Does it really matter at this point?" Dilan asked.

"It does seem rather meaningless," Ludro commented. Edym nodded in agreement.

"Perhaps it was here the whole time and only Xemnas knew about it," Ienzo suggested. "He was the one who first found this world after all."

Gallantmon shook his head. "Not likely, when The Emperor changed this world before they went to sleep, he made sure to hide all of the great machinery. Besides, this wall is a mere imitation of the real thing."

Riku sighed in frustration. He was getting angry with all of this, first the Seekers want to fight them, then they go an hide behind a giant wall.

"Hey, do you hear that?" Mickey asked.

"Hear what?" Riku asked.

"I can hear fighting on the other side of the wall," Mickey explained.

"It is most likely the Dark Lords," Omnimon told them. "They are probably trying to take back their world themselves. I suspected that they would try something like this."

Naminé looked at the wall and said, "Would they attack us if we intervened?"

"Not likely," Lighteron said as he approached the group. The car had arrived at their small gathering. "If I know The Emperor, he would rather ignore us for the time being so he can reclaim his home. But that doesn't mean you should let your guard down."

"This wall is practically indestructible," Roxas told him. "Nothing we've tried has worked."

Lighteron approached the wall and placed his hand on the giant structure. He examined it closely before nodding to himself and walking away.

"It appears that I'll have to use it, please give me room," Lighteron asked.

Magnamon gulped and whispered, "Why can't we just get an orbital strike?"

"Clear a path! Get back if you don't want to be blown away!" Omnimon ordered. Many realized what was going to happen and quickly gave Lighteron the room he would need.

"What's happening?" Sora asked.

"King Lighteron is going to use one of his most powerful techniques," Alphamon answered. "This particular one is normally meant to be used in a one on one match, especially if the opponent has a near perfect defense."

Lighteron backed away till he was a hundred meters away from the wall. He took a deep breath, crossed his arms in front of him, and closed his eyes. He slowed his breathing and became perfectly still.

Then, everyone could feel the rising power. It rose up till they were nearly crushed by the sheer force of it. Lighteron erupted in a bright aura and his eyes snapped open, revealing that they were glowing a golden color.

"STRENGTH OF TEN THOUSAND!" Lighteron roared as he stepped forward with his left foot. He then vanished in a burst of speed that kicked up a mighty wind, and reappeared right in front of the wall, his right arm reared back. He let out an almighty roar before slamming his fist into the wall. A huge section of the wall exploded inward and flew towards the castle.

(Inside The Wall)

The Emperor raised up his giant sword before slamming it on the head of a Darkside, the giant Heartless was slammed into the ground at a great force and instantly dissolved into darkness. He then turned and dragged his sword along the ground, creating a small fissure before lifting it up and slamming it into a Fat Bandit that tried to blindside him. The large Heartless was sent flying into a building, leaving a giant hole in its wake.

"Come on! Give me a challenge already!" The Emperor roared as he sent out a wave of fire at several Dusks.

"It would be unwise to provoke them," Cherubimon said as his head materialized next to his leader. "Especially since it's only the five of us."

The Dark Lords were taking care of their own enemies. Cherubimon had dissolved his lower body and was using the dark orbs to take care of as many enemies as possible. Diaboromon was using his agility to leap from building to building, firing a Web Wrecker when he wished. GigaSeadramon was sweeping away his opposition with his tails and missiles, and the remaining Dark Lord was just crushing whatever stood in his way.

The Emperor then heard an explosion and turned twisted his body as a giant piece of rubble flew past him. The Emperor smirked as he saw that piece take out a multitude of enemies before it crashed into the ground, however, the force that the rubble was going forced it upwards and into the center tower, right through the sigil. The Dark Lords let out groans of frustration as they realized that they lost.

However, The Emperor's victory was short lived as he saw another piece of rubble crash into the bottom of the castle, then another one going right through a tower, causing it to collapse. He then saw another piece fly right past the castle, right before he heard a loud crashing noise behind him. He turned to see that another piece of rubble crashed into a row of buildings, specifically the row that the hooded Dark Lord had marked.

...

...

...

"HOW THE HELL IS THAT POSSIBLE?!" they all yelled.

"Is some higher power screwing with us?!" Cherubimon exclaimed. (Yes, yes I am)

Diaboromon shook his head. "It doesn't matter now, we'll figure out who wins later!"

"Wins?!" GigaSeadramon yelled. "The competition was over the moment the wall exploded!"

"I should have said that my piece would be first," The Emperor grumbled as he decapitated a Stealth Sneak.

(Outside)

Everyone, meaning those not from the Shining Kingdom, was gobsmacked at the sight they just saw.

Lighteron turned to them. "What are you waiting for? An invitation? Let's go!" He shouted as he summoned the Tsunami and raced forward into battle. The war machines powered up and marched through the wall, guns blazing, and the troops followed, preparing to fight the enemy.

(Battle Music-Dark Impetus-Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep)

Sora leapt the air and cut down a group of Rapid Thrusters that were heading his way. He landed on the ground and stabbed his Keyblade into a White Zetsu before charging forward and cutting through groups of enemies.

"Lightning Shredder!" Sora turned around and saw Metal Sonic with his claws embedded into a Morning Star as it tried to smack him with its large mace-like arms. He pulled his claw out and watched as the Heartless disintigrated into darkness. "You should watch your back more often."

"Isn't that why I got friends like you?"

"Triple Dark Firaga!" Riku shouted as he launched a trio of black fireballs at the enemies. He then zipped behind a trio of Large Bodies and sliced them down with ease. He turned around to take down a group of White Zetsu when there was a flash of light, and the scarred Samurai stood behind them and seathed his swords. As soon as they were fully seathed, the Zetsu fell apart. The Samurai turned to Riku and bowed to him before it raced off.

Naminé was firing spell after spell into the horde when she heard a crash behind her. She turned around to see Kairi with her Keyblade embedded in a mutated Zetsu. She pulled it out and turned towards her former Nobody.

"You gotta watch your back," Kairi commented.

"Isn't that why I have you and Roxas?" Naminé smiled. Kairi giggled for a moment before she shot a bolt of lightning at a Wyvern that was trying to blindside her.

"Seeker Mine!" Aqua chanted as she created a field of mines that chased after a group of Heartless. She then turned around and stabbed the Master Keeper into a Dusk, defeating it. She turned around again and attempted to cut down a Defender when it gave a weak cry and vanished, it's heart flying into the air.

"That looks like an interesting spell," Lighteron said as he pulled back his sword. "Mind if I use it for inspiration?"

"Go ahead," Aqua said as she stepped back. Lighteron smirked and held out his free hand in front of him and focused, small orbs of light appeared and Lighteron looked at a crowd of Zetsu that were rushing towards him.

"Seeker...Missile!" the orbs of light shot towards the Zetsu and disintegrated them on contact. Lighteron smirked and said, "Too easy."

Lea was cutting down his enemies with ease, as he used a combination of his Keyblade and chakrams. He was either slicing them apart, or burning them to ashes as he flew past them. He met up with Even and Aeleus as they were taking down their enemies. Even was using the Frozen Pride to freeze them in place so that Aeleus could crush them with the Skysplitter.

"Yo, having fun?" Lea asked as he cut down a Dusk.

"Now is not the time for fun," Aeleus scolded as he sent a wave of earth at some Zetsu.

Lea grumbled, "Just trying to lighten the mood."

Even rolled his eyes and said, "The mood cannot be 'lightened' at this time due to the fact that we are in this war."

"Are you all done bickering?"

Everyone looked up to see Dilan and Ienzo on the dragon created from all of Dilan's lances. Ienzo had the Book of Retribution and was casting spells from its pages.

"If you haven't noticed, they are regrouping," Ienzo stated as he pointed towards the horde of enemies. "So it seems like I'll have to take care of it."

"You? What can you do? You're powers are over illusions," Lea stated.

"I do know how to cast magic," Ienzo informed him, "I always knew that illusions wouldn't work all the time."

The youngest of the apprentices faced the horde and held the Lexicon in front of him. He held his empty hand out to the enemies and began to chant a spell from the book.

"Stars from the heavens, crush my enemies!"

Several small meteorites fell from the sky and crushed many of the horde before a larger one fell upon them and devastated the group.

(I tried to write the spell in Latin to make it seem more magic-like, but the translations weren't working out.)

When the smoke cleared, everyone could see that Ienzo had completely destroyed the enemies in this part of the city.

"...Remind me never to get on his bad side," Lea said to Even.

"As long as you do the same for me," he replied.

(Music End)

(The Castle That Never Was)

Master Xehanort grinned as he watched the great battle from the Alter of Naught. Behind him were the remaining Seekers of Darkness.

"The time is now upon us," Xehanort began. "Go forth, and forge the final pieces of the X-Blade. Then...all shall be ours."

"I thought you'd never ask," Nazo grinned as he opened a Corridor and entered it. Mephiles and Iblis silently following him.

"I wonder if this 'God of Light' is as powerful as they say..." Madara mused.

"Only one way to find out," Lezard smirked. "A shame though that I won't be able to see that battle for myslef. There is an Esper that is demanding my attention." With that, he vanished in a burst of light while Madara disappeared in a swirl of leaves.

Vanitas and Saïx shared a short glance before they vanished in their respective Corridors as well.

"There is still the matter of this...Emperor," Ansem said. "He may cause trouble for us this day."

"It matters not," Young Xehanort told him, "once the X-Blade is in our possession, even he will fall."

"And yet he was nearly able to defeat four of us easily," Terranort said. "If it were not for Madara, we would be down four Seekers."

"That guy was way stronger than I thought," Xigbar grumbled.

"Let us focus on the task at hand," Master Xehanort said. "These trivial matters will only distract us from achieving our goals."

(Other Side of Battlefield)

Ludro summoned a pair of large dice and smashed them into the hands of a Trickmaster. He then created a small pink orb in front of him and snapped his fingers. The orb disappeared and the Heartless was assaulted with a flurry of small cards. Ludro noticed that the Heartless had ignited his weapons again.

"Edym! Water!" Ludro shouted as he dodged a swing from the Trickmster.

"Dance water dance!" Edym shouted as he doused the Heartless in a waterfall. The Heartless' weapons was extinguished and they just bounced off of Ludro's shield of cards. He then summoned a large card and sliced off its left arm, the Heartless screeched in agony as it attempted to crush Ludro. But the gambler deflected its attack and launched several dice at it, which exploded on contact.

"Bloody Hell, why won't you die?!" Ludro roared.

"Have you tried cutting off his head?" Edym suggested as he doused the Heartless again.

"He keeps dancing around," Ludro complained, "I can't get a good shot."

"Just be glad that he can't copy himself," Edym told him. "I remember how Roxas complained about that one."

Just then, several small, yellow, knives cut into the Heartless and released a large amount of electricity, paralyzing the Heartless. Ludro and Edym were in shock, especially due to the fact that they recognized the weapons used.

Hearing a slicing sound, they looked up to see several pink flashes hit the Trickmaster, followed by a storm of rose petals. The Heartless shuddered for a moment before it toppled over and vanished in a cloud of darkness. Edym and Ludro looked over to see two familiar figures.

The first one was a tall man with pink hair. He was wearing a light pink dress shit with a black vest. He had black pants with rose petal designs on them, and grey shoes. In his hand was a large scythe with a green staff, pink blade and three smaller blades jutting out of the base of the blade.

Next to him was a woman with blond hair with two antennae-like bangs. She was wearing a white shirt underneath a small black jacket. She was wearing jeans with a small belt holding them up, and had combat boots with heels on her feet. In between her fingers were small knives that had lightning arcing between them.

"AAAAHHHH! Ghosts!" Edym cried as he jumped into Ludro's arms. Ludro however, was calm...on the outside. Inside he was panicking.

"Quit your whining Water Boy!" the woman yelled. "You're getting on my nerves!"

"IT'S THE GHOST OF THE WITCH!" Edym shrieked. Ludro began to sweat.

'Lady Luck...WHY HAVE YOU FORSAKEN ME!?' Ludro cried as he tried to shake Edym off of him.

The woman had three veins throbbing on her head. "WHAT DID YOU CALL ME YOU LITTLE PUNK!?" she screeched as she went to dive for Edym, however, the pink haired man grabbed her by her collar and held her back.

"Calm down Arlene," the man said calmly, "you should direct that rage towards the Heartless and the strange, white beings."

"I can't let him get away with insulting me!" Arlene roared.

"Marluxia? Larxene? You're alive!?" Ludro cried.

Marluxia smirked and told Ludro, "We're whole beings again, and my real name is Lumaria if you would be so kind as to remember it."

"And I'm ARLENE! GOT IT?!" Arlene shouted.

"Yes ma'am!" Ludro and Edym replied as they tried to prevent the former XII member of the Organization from electrocuting them.

"Ludro! Edym!"

Everyone looked up to see Roxas clad in his armor over them on his Glider.

"We need some help on the..." Roxas trailed off as he saw the two newcomers. "Please tell me that I'm hallucinating," Roxas pleaded as Arlene began to fume.

"Isn't this a sight?" Lumaria grinned. "Numbers IX through XIII meeting up again."

"Are they on our side?" Roxas asked.

"Apparently," Ludro answered. "They defeated the Heartless that we were having trouble with."

Lumaria stepped forward and said, "Yes Roxas, we are on your side. And we would deeply appreciate it if you would tell everyone that also. Wouldn't we Arlene?"

"Yeah sure, whatever," Arlene droned as she filed her nails.

Roxas sighed as he powered up his Glider and took off for the main battlefield. The four former Nobodies prepared to head that way as well, just as soon as they took care of the other Trickmaster that was lumbering towards them.

Done! So we've got another chapter finished! Like it? Of course you do...you guys like all of my stuff.

Next chapter is gonna contain a reunion that is over 10,000 years overdue. Thats right! Lighteron and The Emperor are gonna encounter each other!

Anyway, there's going to be one more chapter before this goes on a hiatus until this story's birthday. Because that's when we'll be revealing The Emperor's true identity.

So that's just a warning in advance. The reason I'm going to do this is because I want the birthday chapter to be something special.

Please Review! Happy Easter!
