Tut and Suhad: Farewell to the King
When Suhad awoke the next morning, Tut was still holding her. She watched him sleep before reaching down and kissing him awake. He slowly lifted his eyes and looked at her. He gave her a passionate kiss. He moved off of her so she could dress. She sat on the edge of her bed. "The sun is high. Tell me how it is that you are here and not in the Valley of the Kings?" He sat up. Then looked down. "There was an attempt on my life. Penthu discovered a plot. He told Ka along with Lagus. They went to confront the High Priest Amun at the temple. I went to stop them. There was a fight. Amun's blade was meant for me. He killed Ka. I then took his life. Penthu and his order took care of the body. They made everyone think that I had died." Suhad wrapped her arms around him. "You gave up your kingdom for me. For our children." He smiled up at her. "I could not bear the thought of you being alone. My family is here. My sister will be better off with out me. Ay can have the kingdom. He has always wanted to rule. Now he can and we can live in peace."
Later that day, Lagus arrived with some supplies, news and gold. "No one knows you are here. the kingdom is convinced that you are dead. Ay has claimed the throne. He is set to marry Ankhe to cement that claim. No one has asked to where Amun has gone. Penthu is now the new high priest. I wish we would have gotten there sooner to save Ka." Tut agreed. "After everything that I put him through, he was still loyal. It is fitting that he lay to rest in my tomb." At night Lagus returned to Thebes.
Life for them together only lasted for couple of years. Ankhesenamun was murdered on her wedding night. Ay strangled her because she denied him and refused to consemate their union. When the Nile rose again, Tut came down with blood fever. This time the god, Anubus, claimed his prize. On a hot night, Tut left this world and went ot be with the gods. His last request was that Lagus watch over Suhad and his children. Being a true friend to his pharaoh he taught Sekmet about being a soldier. Ma'at grew up and wanted to return to Thebes to gain vengence on Ay for what he did to her family. She was denied however, because Ay's own son, Nahktmin, killed his father in his sleep by placing a scorpion in his bed. Nahktmin then boarded a boat for Greece and wasn't heard from again. The next to take the throne was General Horemheb. He would rule for 27 years. His queen was a beautiful young girl. Little did he know that his wife used to be called Ma'atkhamun.
Her brother, Sekmet, grew to become a General in the Mitanni army and later their leader. In their grief of losing Tutankhamun, Suhad and Lagus found each other. They married and she gave him a son and a daughter. On certain nights, Suhad woud look up at the stars and could see Tut drawing his bow. She knew that he was watching over them from the heavens.
