Chapter Thirty-Seven
Riley's POV
The sun shone brightly through the window at approximately nine in the morning, but it wasn't the sun that woke me up. It was the loud cries from Savannah's room. I shuffled off of the bed and over to her room to see that Natasha and James' door was still closed, so presumably, they were still asleep.
When I entered Savannah's room, I picked her up put of the crib and headed downstairs with her, so I could feed her. I took one of the bottles and slid it into her mouth, and watched her gulp. Her eyes shone brightly as the redness started to fade.
"What are you doing up this early?" Andy asked from behind me. He was wearing some sweat pants, no shirt and his hair was sticking up in all directions.
"This is not early" I laughed. I was usually awake at around seven, but Savannah had actually let me sleep in for once.
"Well, it's early for me" He sighed, coming up behind me and wrapping his arms around my waist and breathing deeply into my ear. "A new 'Black Veil Brides' tour has been set up" My eyes widened at him. When did he find this out and why didn't he tell me sooner?
"When were you told this?" I asked as I pulled the bottle from Savannah's mouth and turned to face him.
"I was told last night, but you were already asleep, so I didn't want to wake you up" He replied, taking a seat at the kitchen table. "It's a short tour"
"How long does it last?" I asked when it didn't look like he was going to say anything else on the matter.
"Only two weeks and it starts in a month" He answered. It was always going to be a hard time when he told me that he was going on tour, but I knew that I wanted him to go no matter what.
"Hey, that's really good timing" I cheered as I wrapped my arms around his neck. He hugged back for only a moment before looking at my confused. "Well, you won't miss the birth of the baby."
"If it fell on your due date, then I wouldn't go at all" He explained with a smile on his face. It felt great to know that no matter what happened, he would always have my back and I would always have his.
"I wouldn't want you do that, though" I sighed. Yeah, I might love the fact that he was willing to do that, but that doesn't mean I want that to go ahead.
"There is no way in hell I would leave you to go into fucking labour on your own" Andy scoffed. He wrapped his arms right around me, his breath tickling my cheek lightly as he sighed.
"You're awesome, okay?" I asked.
"I hope you're talking about me" A voice said from the living room. I whirled around to see James standing there in his jeans and a T-shirt.
"Hey, did you have a good night?" Andy asked. He gave a firm nod and grinned.
"It was great" He said. "I just can't believe you guys are letting us adopt your baby"
"Well, you'll get used to it sooner or later" I sighed, picking Savannah up from the high chair and heading into the living room. Any mention of the baby was too difficult for me at this stage and I was just praying to God that I would get used to the idea of giving someone else my baby. If I didn't, then I was going to be completely screwed.
"Ry, are you okay?" Andy asked, coming into the living room with a concerned look marking his bright blue eyes.
James' POV
I felt awful for making Riley uncomfortable. I didn't want her to feel like I was pressuring her into give us her baby. Andy stood in the kitchen looking rather uncomfortable as he shifted from foot to foot.
"I should probably make sure she's okay" Andy sighed, walking into the living room and closing the door, so I couldn't hear what they were talking about. Just then, Natasha came into the kitchen.
"Is everything okay?" She asked. She looked concerned over Riley and I could tell that she was feeling like she was pressuring her.
"Yeah, Riley's just a little upset" I explained. The guilt was beginning to eat my alive. Yeah, I wanted a baby so much and I would give anything to have someone to call me 'daddy,' but I couldn't tell if that feeling was strong enough for me to be willing to take someone else's child. It was obvious that they had doubts about it, but all I could think about was how to make sure that they stayed in the frame of mind where they were convinced that giving up the baby was the only solution. Selfish, I know, but I wasn't a baby so bad.
"This must be so hard on her" Natasha sighed, resting her chin on my shoulder and shaking her head a little. "Are you sure that this is the right thing to do?"
It was a tough decision. Was I willing to talk someone into making a decision that they could regret for the rest of their lives. The more I thought about it, the more I realised that I could do that. I wanted to give everything to Natasha and this was something that she had wanted ever since she was a little kid and her parents had another baby.
"Yeah, this is what we want to do" I sighed, my palms sweating as the realisation came to me. I was taking someone's baby. The door soon opened and Andy came back in.
"Riley's just finding this a little hard to deal with, but she'll warm up to the idea" He explained.
"We completely understand" Natasha reassured. The guilt was going to eat me alive. I had just talked myself into allowing a great couple do something that they were going to regret.
Jake's POV
Scout was just starting to serve dinner when she asked me the question that I prayed she wouldn't.
"Who were those guys that were at Riley's last night?" She asked. So, the only reason that I wanted to tell her was because I wanted our relationship to be based on trust and I also wanted to talk to someone about this, but I didn't want to betray Riley. If Riley never knew, who could get hurt?
I took a seat opposite her at the table as she put my plate down and poured a glass of wine before taking a seat at the table of herself and starting on her food.
"If I tell you, you have to promise me that you won't tell anyone" I warned. She nodded firmly and gave me a small smile.
"You can trust me" Scout reassured. I leaned over the table and kissed her lightly on the cheek.
"I know I can trust you, Scouty" I sighed. "Well, Riley wants to put the baby up for adoption and Natasha and James are interested."
"What!" Scout shouted. "Riley would never do something like that. Andy wouldn't let her."
"Oh, Andy's letting her" I scoffed. "He's really into the idea. I hate it just as much as you do. I just can't believe she's doing that" I was beginning to feel bad about betraying Riley's trust, but I was just so glad to know that someone else was freaking out about it just as much as I was.
"Are you sure I can't just have a word with her to try and stop her from going through with it?" She asked. I shook my head firmly and sighed deeply. Since when did life get so difficult?
"It's not your place to do so" I whispered. "It's Riley and Andy's choice and they have to come to the realisation themselves"
"I suppose you're right, but I still just can't get my head around it" She mumbled. It was a hard thing to get used to. When someone tells you that they're going to give their son to some strangers, the things that run through your head are dreadful.
"Riley's going to tell everyone in a few months and when she does, you have to act like you've only just found out" I explained as I raised my eyebrows at her, hoping she could understand how serious this was. Scout was… quite a carefree girl and didn't always realise that she had to shut her mouth sometimes.
"Jake, I'm an actress. There won't be any problems there" Scout laughed as she went back to eating her food. There better not be any problems otherwise I'm screwed.
Andy's POV
"We'll come back down two weeks before your due date" James said. I was starting to feel like he was getting a little pushy with us, but I just figured that he was starting to get nervous about the prospect of being a father. Hell, I was snappy with people when I found out that Riley was pregnant the first time.
"Sure, we'll ring you if anything happens" Riley replied. Jake was stood in the doorway as he was going to take them back to the museum, so they could drive themselves home.
"Okay, thanks" James said as he went to stand by Jake to wait for Natasha to finish with saying her goodbyes. She lingered in the living room before flinging her arms around Riley's neck.
"Have a great few months" She said into her neck. Riley laughed before pulling away and smiling.
"Goodbye, Natasha" She sighed just as the front door opened and James and Jake left. Natasha gave me an awkward look before following James outside. The door slammed shut and a silence fell over the house.
"I'm getting so tired" I sighed as I pulled Riley into my arms. She looked up at me as she wrapped her arms around my neck and kissed my shoulder which was the only part of me that she could reach. Her red hair tickled my nose as I placed my hand on her stomach.
"Well, it's been a really long day" She mumbled into my chest. It had been a really long few months. It had been a pretty twisty rollercoaster. It was nice to know that now I could just lie in bed, get some sleep and face another day that would probably be less stressful than this one. Oh, how I yearned for just one simple day where I could just be with Riley and have fun again with Savannah.
"Yeah, I suppose you're right" I said. "Can I ask you something?"
"Sure, go ahead" She prompted.
"Well, did you think James was acting a little weird today?" I asked. I didn't want to annoy her by asking, but something about him was freaking me out today and I wanted to know if it was just me who felt this way.
"I did notice that, but I don't really think we know him well enough to know how he acts when he's being normal" Riley explained. "Today would have been very stressful to him. He was under pressure to make a good impression and it probably just got to him."
"Yeah, you're right" I sighed. "I was pretty nervous today too, so I can only imagine how bad it must have been for him." Another silence fell over the house as I stood in the hallways with Riley in my arms. "Let's go to bed, yeah?"
"Oh, I'd love that" She laughed, stepping out of my arms and heading up the stairs.
Well, I'm sure I wrote that rubbish, but hey. I can only do my best. The next chapter will jump ahead a month. I hope everyone liked it and please drop a review on your way out XD
