Rushing home from work Paul had to quickly change before he had to be back out of the door, he couldn't say that he was actually looking forward to this but he was going to see how it went and see if Katy's advice was any good.
Jumping in the shower he washed himself clean before he jumped out and got dressed in something smart but casual, he didn't want to seem too eager or too disinterested. Brushing his hair back into a ponytail he grabbed his wallet and jacket before he walked out of his bedroom.
Shawn had been sat on the couch and had heard Paul come in and go straight into the bathroom to have a shower and then he went into his bedroom and was taking far too long for him to be throwing some clothes on to relax in for the evening. Getting up from the couch Shawn went and stood leaning on the wall opposite Paul's bedroom and waited.
As he walked out of his bedroom sliding his wallet into his pocket he stopped when he saw Shawn leaning on the wall, "what do you want? I don't have time for anything."
Pushing himself away from the door he stood in-between Paul and the front door, "I want to know where you are going."
Rolling his eyes he didn't see why he cared, "on a date Mom."
"Are you crazy? You really think now is a good time to be dating?"
Groaning he didn't even want to be going on this date, "I'm not stupid. I don't want to be going on this stupid date really but it's a double date with Stephanie and Stuart and then a work colleague of Stephanie's. It's a really long story and I really don't have time to explain it all to you now so can you please just wait until I get home or tomorrow to grill me please as I'm already a little late?"
Nodding his head Shawn moved out of his way, "I will hold you to telling me all of the details."
Pulling his jacket on Paul just left the apartment in a rush to get across town so he wasn't too late for the date.
As soon as Paul had left Shawn went back into the lounge and rang his girlfriend, he knew she was having a girly night with her sister but he was desperate.
Rebecca was just about to put a movie into the DVD player when her phone started to ring, rolling her eyes she went over to it and wondered what her boyfriend wanted, "Shawn, what's wrong?"
Sighing he felt bad, "I'm worried about Paul, he has just gone on a double date with Stephanie and her boyfriend and one of her work colleagues and he says there is a long story to the background."
Sitting on the arm of the couch she didn't know what to say this to him without worrying him, "umm . . . okay."
He knew that answer and he never liked it, "what do you know that you're not telling me?"
"Well let's see, maybe there is the gut feeling I have that Stephanie is messing with Paul's head, whether it is intentional or not I have a feeling that she is leading him on. There is also the fact that her boyfriend was there waiting for her when I dropped her off and he didn't look best pleased."
Growling lowly Shawn was worried about what Paul had got himself in to, "I hope this isn't some sort of set up, I will kill Stuart with my bare hands if it is."
Laughing softly she shook her head, "I don't think it is, I'm pretty sure that Stuart wants Paul out of his hair so he's got Stephanie to set him up, I don't know why I think this I just do. You will have to wait until Paul gets home so you can find out all of the details from him."
"That's the problem, I'm worried that I'll end up at the Police station if Stuart says or does something."
Frowning she wanted to make him see the other side, "Paul's not that stupid, he may come home raging but he won't be stupid enough to do anything to Stuart because that would just push Stephanie away from him."
He grumbled as he listened to his girlfriend talk sensibly, "yeah yeah, I know you're right but it doesn't mean this entire thing feels off."
"I know but there is not a lot you can do until he gets home so just relax and enjoy your quiet evening whilst I enjoy mine."
Running his fingers through his hair he sighed softly, "will do, I'm sorry Bec, I love you."
Smiling softly she got up from her seat, "I love you too but don't worry about it, that's what I'm here for. Call me tomorrow when you know what happened and what the story was please."
"Of course. Have a good evening and say sorry to Abby for me please."
"Don't worry, she's not mad. Bye."
"Bye Bec."
Hanging up the phone he tossed it onto the couch beside him swapping it for the TV remote to look for something to watch.
Stacey was stood outside the restaurant pacing nervously, she hoped they all didn't stand her up and she ended up looking like an idiot. Watching cars as they passed by she spotted one as it slowed down and pulled into a space opposite the restaurant but it was too dark for her to see who it was but she hoped it was Paul or Stephanie.
As Stuart stopped the car across the road Stephanie looked across at Stacey who seemed petrified and she almost felt bad for doing this to her. Getting out of the car she smiled and nodded in acknowledgement of an old school friend as he walked by.
Noticing his girlfriend smiling at some guy Stuart felt his blood boiling as he got out of the car and walked around to her side roughly grabbing her, "do not smile at other men or you will regret it."
Gulping she looked down at the floor, "I'm sorry, it was an old school friend."
"Yeah well you belong to me now and I don't like it and you don't like it when I'm not happy."
Nodding her head sadly she kept her head low, "let's go and stand with Stacey."
Watching from across the road as Stephanie's boyfriend manhandled her and the way he stood so menacingly over her and her reactions made Stacey feel sick, things were starting to slot into place for her and she felt sick to her stomach with the realisations.
When Stephanie approached Stacey she noticed that she looked uncomfortable, "are you okay?"
Nodding her head she tried to put those thoughts out of her head, "yeah, just really nervous. He is nice right?"
Without thinking she smiled and nodded, "amazing, simply the best." Receiving a sharp dig in the ribs from Stuart she corrected herself, "sure, he's always been nice to me."
Not liking the atmosphere at all Stacey hoped Paul would arrive soon, "I hope he arrives soon, I don't want him to stand me up."
"He won't, he's too polite to do something as rude as that." Receiving a pull to the back of her hair at that she turned to look at her boyfriend, "what?"
Stuart smiled sweetly, "nothing baby, my watch just got caught."
Watching the two of them interact Stacey noticed that Stuart's watch was on his right arm whereas he had his left arm around Stephanie and she needed to leave, "I'm just going to check on our table, I'll be back now."
Stephanie watched as Stacey hurried into the restaurant before she turned to her boyfriend, "what's wrong?"
Stuart turned to stand in front of her and gripped her wrist twisting it painfully, "stop gushing over him, you are with me and not him and I don't like it."
Wincing she nodded her head, "I'll stop, I'm sorry."
Looking down at the floor she wouldn't say much else tonight as he was already angry and she didn't want to make it worse.
