Stay with me

~.~.~.~.~

The scent of her surrounding was strange. It didn't smell like the air freshener the servants would always use around the house. Instead of flowers, it smelled slightly like dust and old wood. Not only that, but the comforter that was on top of her felt strange. Usually it would warm her up and the fluffiness would feel like she was sleeping on a cloud. But instead she was shivering, had to pull at the strange fabric over her more. When she realized this really wasn't her bed did she finally wake up.

"Ah, you're awake." The girl snapped her head to where the voice came from. It was dark, but there was a candle on a nightstand, illuminating a face of a young male, dark blond with matching sharp eyes sitting by the bed she was resting on.

"Who are you?" she demanded at once, which only earned him a chuckle.

"Now now, I won't hurt you," he sighed. "I finally got you, so there's no way I would risk that."

"Who are you?" she repeated the question, her hands up protectively. Seeing her like this, he gave in.

"Since you really want to know," he placed a hand on his chest, "the name is Kano Shuuya. And this is my home, Kido Tsubomi."

Hearing her name said clearly and casually made her pale. "How…how did you know my name?" She couldn't help but shuffle away from him, which made him laugh again.

"Oh, I've been watching you," he said casually. 'You can't blame me but yourself, because it's been a long time since I have ever smelled something so…extravagant," he licked his lips as he said this. "I was getting hungry when I saw you bolting out of your house, running so freely. I couldn't help but take you then."

His words made her heart sank, couldn't believe this was real. There was a legend that the village's valley was fought over, a war was ensued with the humans barely winning. But still, there were a few survivors left and fled into the forest, rarely coming out of hiding to kill and feed off the villagers. Today, if anyone managed to kill one of them and bring their body back for show, they could become insanely rich. If she thought this was just a perverted stalker who kidnapped her, she thought wrong when she saw his eyes flickered red for a second.

"Vampire…" she breathed the words in disbelief, fear creeping up her body.

He looked surprised she guessed it right. "Amazing!" He threw his head back and laughed. "Well, not like I was going to hide it anyway. You were going to find out in a minute or two."

Kido tried to scramble away from the blond, but she couldn't get far since she had no control over her frantically flailing limbs and her back met the wall. The vampire just continued to laugh at her useless attempted to escape before getting closer to her.

"S-Stay back!" She managed to grab a pillow and throw it at him. "Don't come any closer!"

"Like I said, I won't hurt you." The pillow barely hurt him. Before she could do anything, he had her hands and legs pinned down with his. She struggled against him but it was hopeless. "I really just want your blood. Once every two to three days should be enough without killing you. And I'm giving you a place to stay, with me at your service."

"And…and if I refuse?"

"I won't let you leave." His voice sounded like ice and his grip on her hands tightened. Kido let out a yelp, couldn't move at all. "Even if I let you go, where will you run off to? There's nowhere for you to return to, isn't that right?"

His words stabbed right into her. As much as she hated to admit it, he was right. If she did leave here, she would be back at that village where she was considered non-existent by everyone. No one would care if she was gone for a few days or forever, not even her family.

"I'll…I'll stay…" she uttered in defeat. She didn't need to look at him to see how pleased he was to hear that. Not putting up any resistant, Kido let the vampire lean forward and puncture her neck with his sharp fangs, feeling him sucking her blood.

The slight pain made her let out whimper, squirming as she listened to him drinking her up greedily. She could feel her blood drained from her veins, her skin licked on for small droplets. If he continued like this, she would surely be sucked dry!

"N-No…stop…"

There was a pause, followed by a final lick against her wounds before he pulled back. Kido let out a relieved gasp, her vision blurry as she tried to keep herself together. He was still in front of her, licking the remaining blood on his lips.

"Sorry, but you taste better than I thought," he gave her a wink. She let out a grunt, wanting to shove this monster away from her but didn't have any strength left. Staring at her, he leaned forward so then he could make her lie back on the bed. She felt completely defenceless in this state, scared of what was going to happen to her next. Instead, she felt him brushing her hair with his fingers.

"Just rest for now. I'll see you when you get up." With that, he left her alone. Kido stared at where he went of to, before rolling onto her side and curl into a ball. At first she thought maybe staying here and being this monster's food was better than being treated as nothing, but in the end no one would care for her. She was just food now, who could die any day. Her life couldn't get much worse than this.

~.~.~.~.~

Days passed since then, and even though she had recovered from her blood loss, she hadn't left her bed in her new room. Kano had expressed how worried he was on her going to die from starvation and thirst soon, but she didn't care. If she was going to die, let it come sooner.

"You know I want to keep you alive. If you keep this up, I can't drink from you at all without killing you," he sighed one day when he came to visit her again.

She rolled onto her side to face away from him. "Why don't you let me go then?"

"Because I know you don't want to go back." His words hit the mark again. "I've seen how the humans in that village treated you, Tsubomi. And I say it's a waste for you to live there when I can give you all you want here."

"I didn't give you permission to call me by my first name!" she snapped, which he raised his hands in surrender to. "And what can you give me? The only thing you have given me so far is to be keep me here like a prisoner."

"Hey, I didn't say you can't go out," he pointed in accusation. She gave her a look. "I'm serious. You can go outside if you want, but I prefer you to not go back to the village in case you bring any hunters with you."

She frowned at him, rolling away again. "It's not like I want to go back."

She heard him give out a sigh. "C'mon, I'll bring you something to eat since you're too stubborn to leave your bed." He pushed his chair back and left her. After a moment pass, with Kido frowning at the window, she rolled over again when he came back with a plate of chicken drumsticks and a glass of water.

"Did you make these?" She asked after she sat up and stared at the food placed on her lap.

Kano shook his head. "Nope, got it at the village."

There was a pause. "The village."

"Yeah."

"When was that?"

"Hmm…just a few hours ago."

"Don't vampires burn in daylight?" she finally looked at him. The vampire blinked at her, breaking into a grin before shaking his head.

"'Course not! Who told you that?"

"That's what everybody says," she rolled her eyes, but then frowned. "Actually, that's the main reason we believe on why vampires don't show up during daytime. Some say you would turn to ashes at once, or you can't stand the light." She gave a frown. "There was one other reason but it's really stupid though."

"Oh, what is it? Tell me!"

She glanced at him. "Vampires sparkle in daylight."

There was a pause, with the sound of birds chirping outside. Then all of a sudden, he cringed in utter disgust. "Ew! What? That sounds gay!"

"Well, that's not a reason. It's in this badly written romance novel between vampires and humans…" she shrugged, though that story was just plain out cheesy and gooey to the point it was just a glob of forbidden romance.

"You humans seriously know nothing about us!" Kano pointed at the light shining from the window. "Am I sparkling to you?"

She snorted at his reaction. "No, you're certainly not." She leaned back against the headboard. "Makes me wonder if everything I knew about vampires is real or not."

"I can confirm everything you just told me about us is wrong." He crossed his arms. "We just don't come out during the day so then we wouldn't get into trouble easily."

Nodding in understanding, she hadn't thought about that. Hearing her stomach rumbling to the smell of the chicken, she decided she might as well eat. "You didn't poison this, did you?" she looked over the piece of chicken leg he brought in and he rolled his eyes.

"Kido, I want to keep you alive. I already said I will let you stay here with me and everything."

"Aren't you just feeding me just to make sure I don't die?"

"That too." She scoffed at his answer and began to eat. It was a bit intimidating to have him keep on staring at her though. The piece of meat tasted decent, but staring at the plate of the same thing, she wasn't sure how much she would like living here.

~.~.~.~.~

A few days of finally accepting her fate and didn't want a bloodthirsty vampire to feed her with the same plain meals, Kido declared she would rather cook for herself rather than be served by him. At first he was insulted, but when she told him he knew nothing of what she needed to eat and that she was getting sick of lying in bed anyway, he gave up and went back to the village the next day to get what she needed.

"And bring back some cleaning supplies! Your house reeks of dust!" she called out to him from the window early in the morning.

"Didn't you live in a rich house? I thought there are people who cleaned up for you?" he asked before he headed into the forest.

"Well a certain somebody isn't doing it!" she shouted back before slamming the window shut. Really, the place was just filled with dust and filth, and she swore she saw some rats running around the hall last night. It was true she lived in a beautiful house back in the village, but that meant she was used to cleanliness. After exploring where she was held a prisoner though, she believed this wasn't so bad if she tidied everything up. A decent sized house with a library and a music room for only two people in the forest, it almost sounded like a fairy tale.

Of course if the one I'm living with is not a vampire, it would have been better. She huffed.

After waiting the entire morning, with her spending her time walking around and looking through some books she found lying around, she heard him came back. Kido got up and ran to where he was, only to come to a screeching halt.

"How many stuff did you buy!?"

Kano was hauling in another sack of ingredients through the backdoor. "What? With what you told me, it sounded you needed a lot."

"I asked you to buy some ingredients, pots and pans, and something to clean the house with!" she stared at the mountain of things filling the pantry. "I can't finish all this! They will spoil!"

"Is that so?" She groaned at the vampire's oblivious tone once he placed the sack down with the others. "How about next time you tell me how much you really need rather than just saying you need this and that?"

"How about I just go back to the village and buy them myself!?" she snapped at him with a whip of her long green hair.

"What?! No!" he waved his hands around. "If you suddenly show up, it will cause me problems! Don't you know how long you've been missing now!?" She growled at him, even though he was right. "Look, just tell me how much you need and I'll do better next time."

"You better," she hissed before turning away from him. Kano just sighed and went back to getting the rest of the things. "By the way, how did you carry all these from the village?"

He turned back to her. "I used a horse and a wagon."

She spun back towards him. "A horse? You have a horse?"

"Just bought it." With that, Kido had enough of this stupid vampire and was so done.

~.~.~.~.~

It happened about a month after Kido lived here. Kano was asking for his need on her blood and as usual, she let him drink as much as he wanted without her suffering blood loss. After that though, she started to ask him questions on him and vampires. He seemed to know a lot about her, but she knew nothing about him. Things like how long he had lived here and how old he was were vague, just that he was always here. That and…

"You're short."

That stopped Kano to stop looking giddy. "Excuse me. What?"

"You're short," she repeated, using her hand to measure the distance between them. "About 3 cm I think…"

"I'm not short!" Kido was surprised when he slapped her hands away, his face fuming childishly. There was a moment of silence, until Kido covered her mouth to hide a laugh. "It's not funny!"

"Yes, it is…" she was failing badly at hiding her amusement to the point she had to hold her stomach down too.

"Why do you think it's funny!? We are the same height!" The look on Kano's face was so funny that it made Kido laugh harder. She just realized this idiotic vampire was more of a dork instead after so long.

"A-Are you in denial…?" she wiped a stray tear away, which made Kano fume harder.

"Of course not!"

"You know I always wondered why you always wear those boots," she pointed at his feet. "And now I realize there are actually some heels." She raised an eyebrow teasingly.

"There isn't any!"

"They seem to be pretty high," she went on. The vampire groaned and puffed his cheeks, prompting Kido to laugh again.

"Are you being mean to someone who let you live here!" he yelled at her in accusation. All Kido did was shrug.

"Hey, I can't help it. There's nothing to do and you want to keep me alive anyway." That and he wasn't much of a threat to her right now.

"I'll get back at you for this! You'll see!" He declared before he stomped out of the library and slammed the door shut. Kido continued to snicker before she decided to read something she found in the library. Now she could tease Kano to pass the time too , much to her delight.

~.~.~.~.~

Kano finally got her back for teasing him during summer. It was when the day was hot and even opening the windows to let the breeze in was not enough. She kept on complaining about it until Kano said he would take her to some place to cool off. She was skeptical at first, until he took her to a big lake deep within the forest. It was sparkling blue under the sun, creating a mesmerizing scenery before Kido's eyes. She was enjoying the view until she suddenly felt him lift her up into the air and toss her into the water.

"Hey!" she spluttered out the water as Kano started to laugh at her. Her entire clothes were soaked. "That was not funny!"

"I thought it will cool you off faster!" he continued to laugh as he started to bend over and clutch his stomach in pain. Kido glared at him, throwing her arms back to send a huge wave of water at him. Ah, it felt nice to stop his laughter.

"Take that!" she stuck her tongue out as Kano stared down at himself, his hair and clothes dripping. Taking one glance at her, Kano suddenly ran into the lake, making her squeal and swim away.

"I'm going to catch you!"

"Like to see you try!" she called out as she continued to get away. She could hear him catching up, but she didn't let that stop her. But in the end she was caught.

"Gotcha!" Kido let out a squeak as Kano grabbed her around the waist and pulled her backwards. She only had one second to react before they were both under water. She held her breath, staring up at the surface but didn't struggle against the blond's grip until they finally surfaced.

"Let go!" she tried to push him away, but he had a firm hold on her.

"Noooooo way! I'm not letting my tasty Kido swim away from me!" he laughed teasingly. The girl gave him a look, her hands shot up to shove his face away when he was close to her neck.

"You already drank some yesterday!" she flailed around, water splashing everywhere. Kano was still laughing at her and this went on for a while. She finally stopped when she felt exhausted, no thanks to him thanks to him.

"When are you letting go?" she grumbled.

"When I feel like it." She rolled her eyes at his answer.

"You're very affectionate today, you know that?"

He blinked at her words. "Really?"

"Yeah, extra clingy, nice and everything."

"Aren't I always nice."

She flicked at his forehead. "You act more like an idiot than being nice."

"Oww..." He rubbed his forehead. "Well, it's been a long time since I get to be this close to someone."

She looked back at him. "How long?"

He gave a shrug. "For as long as I can remember. I'm always by myself in that house because fellow vampires aren't that keen to be together when they have their own place to stay in."

Kido didn't know what to that. "No one else ever…lived with you?"

He shook his head. "I…don't think so? Seriously, it's been so long."

She gave a small nod, letting herself float around in the lake with him. She never thought about how he was lonely before moving in to his house. Other than being his vampire food, she was actually his only company now. If it was like that, living here wasn't as bad as she thought.

Wanting to get rid of that frown on his face, she suddenly broke free from the vampire's hold when his guard was down and swarm away from him. Kano was following close behind as she taunted that she was going to escape, and he called back he was not going to let her go.

~.~.~.~.~

As Kano said, he would do anything for her. When Kido said there was nothing to do outside, Kano tried to give her a small garden for her to take care of, which she used to grow some vegetables so then Kano didn't need to buy anymore in the future. When she said she didn't have any clothes to wear for winter, he went out to the village to get her some coats, along with some new clothes so then she didn't need to always wear the same thing. One time she commented to herself that she would like a pet, and the next day Kano came back with a fluffy grey kitten. It was while staring at the things he had given to her she had to ask.

"Where did you get all the money?"

Kano didn't even notice Kido had snuck up on him. It was a cool morning, with Kano having to feed the horse in a make shift stable and she just came out to see how he was doing.

"Why do you ask?"

She gave a shrug. "I still don't know much about you, and I was wondering." She played with the kitten in her hands.

He gave a hum before answering. "Well where do you think I get them?"

She gave a frown. "I asked you first," she gave a huff.

"Well, have you ever thought yourself?"

"I did…but I don't think you're originally rich with how you take care of the house," she deadpanned, earning her a pout from the vampire.

"I am rich! I am so rich!" he puffed out his chest. "What? Don't you humans believe we vampires are super rich and have a basement full of treasures?"

"Nope. I looked everywhere and don't see anything like that." That brought her to another question. "You're not stealing, are you?"

"'Course not!" Kano looked insulted. "I brought everything for you!"

"Then where did the money come from?" she asked again, adding more force into it. Kano looked reluctant to answer her, and she stepped forward. "You can't lie to me. I want to know."

He tried to look at anywhere but her, but the closer she got to him, he had to look at her in the eyes. "Tell me?"

He gulped, and not wanting to kick around the bushes anymore, he gave in. "Umm…you know about the hunters, right?"

She frowned. "Of…course I do." Hunters were the ones who hunt down vampires in the forest to become rich. Most of them work in groups so then they have a good chance to kill one if they were found.

"Well, before you started living here, some hunters managed to find me," he explained. "I can't just let them kill me, and after I finish with them, I…took anything from them that could come in handy before feeding off or burying them." He looked away in shame. Kido's eyes were wide as he went on. "And it's not like the villagers didn't notice me coming into the forest after I finish buying the things you need. When that happens, sometimes I'm followed…and then I just do it all over again."

At that, Kido felt cold. Not from the chill of winter, but from what Kano had been doing without her knowing. Sometimes she forgot what he was, and what he could do to her. If he took so much from the dead hunters, she had an idea how many he had killed.

"I…see…" Kano looked back at her to see she was shivering, hugging the kitten close to her chest.

"H-Hey! Don't worry! I won't kill you!" He quickly walked up to her but she immediately stepped back. They stared at each other, feeling awkward from both sides. "R-Really! I never planned to hurt you, Kido! Didn't I say that? I care about you a lot!"

His words calmed her only a little bit, which she smiled at. She was happy that he cared about her, but when she thought it was only for her blood, she felt uneasy still.

That thought gnawed at the back of her mind, and it didn't help them at all.

~.~.~.~.~

She didn't want to, but Kido continued to doubt Kano's word for a while. He was still kind to her no matter what, but nothing seemed to ease her up. She kept on reassuring him that she was fine but they knew it was not true. Sometimes Kano tried to suggest something to her, but would stop immediately, dismissing it before saying something else. Now every time when he drinks her blood, he did it hesitantly.

She knew she had to stop sooner or later. Kano never hurt her and always tried to make her feel comfortable in her new home. No one was even this nice to her before and that made her happy. Sighing, she decided it was time to head back home. She had come out to get a breath of fresh air and it was getting dark, and she knew staying out so long would make him worried.

Making her way through the forest, she wasn't thinking too much as she hummed to herself quietly until their house came into view. Giving a sigh, she reached for the door and began to push it open the door open. Before she could take a step in though, a sound caught her attention and the next thing she knew was a pair of large hands suddenly pulling her back and covering her mouth.

Her screams were muffled while she struggled in vain. A group of men surrounded her, all brandishing weapons that gleamed from the light of the torches they held. Her eyes widened, realizing who they were and she was likely to be killed!

"Ya think this is it?" one of them said as he pressed a tip of his sword against her neck. Kido was left trembling as they heard them laughing.

"I thought it was that scrawny boy who always goes into the forest, not a young girl," another snickered as he examined her body.

"Vampires don't come out during the day, idiot. Maybe she was holding that boy hostage to drink his blood or something'." The hunters all agreed on that. Kido tried to break free, calling out for Kano with little success. "Either way, finally finding one of those blood suckers was pretty easy."

"And a very weak one too!" the one holding her captive laughed, delighted when Kido struggled harder. All the laughing and seeing their ugly faces flickering against the flame with their weapons held up at night drove her in hysteria. The sword that was pressing against her was pulled away, only for it to be raised high above her chest. She stared at it fear, couldn't do anything to stop it. And within the next second, she felt blood splashing out onto her.

All the hunters stopped what they were doing, looking back to see that the one with the sword fell to the ground, his neck crushed and blood gushing out. The hand that had killed him moved to Kano's mouth, licking it clean as his eyes glowed red.

"You…" one of them started but Kano already went on to kill the next one in line. Kido didn't even notice she was freed, her legs giving away as she fell onto the floor, watching Kano killing everyone that came his way. Blood was sprayed everywhere, and she saw the hunters screaming and hollering at they fell one by one. She had never seen Kano moved so fast, elegantly killing them off with a sadistic look on his face.

Her entire body couldn't move, especially when he was done slaying every single hunter around him. Kido's breathe hitch when Kano suddenly snapped his head towards her, eyes red as he panted and flexed his hands, as if wanted to kill more.

"Ka…no…" She couldn't tear her eyes away from his, fear having taken a hold of her. He continued to stare at her, eyes unwavering until they turned back to the familiar dark golden shade she was familiar with.

"What…" He noticed the bodies around him, the torches the hunters were holding now created small fires here and there. Staring at the sight, he realized what he just did and that Kido saw everything. The girl let out a yelp as he came rushing towards her, her hands up on instinct. Taking slow breaths, Kano crouched down to gently pull her hands away, watching her carefully. "Kido…" his hand reached out to try and wipe away the blood that splashed onto her face, but he was only smearing more onto her. "Are you hurt?"

"N-No…" she looked away from him, brushing his hand off. "I'm fine…"

He didn't say anything, and Kido glanced up at him. He was surveying the area around him, a grim line on his lips. She tugged at his shirt. "Hey, let's go back inside?"

He turned back to her but didn't answer. She stared at him, having not seen him looking so serious before. "Kano?"

"I think you should leave." His words made her stop completely.

"W-What?"

"I don't think you should be here anymore," he explained, not looking her in the eyes. "It was my fault; I didn't think they would find you and think you're the vampire. If I let you stay here any longer, you'll only be in more danger."

Even though she was scared, she shook her head in protest. "N-No!" she grabbed onto his arms desperately. "I don't want to go back! You said so yourself! I don't have a place to go back to!"

"You know how rich I am, but these guys aren't that poor too, y'know?" He pointed at the corpses behind him before placing a reassuring hand on hers. "I'll buy you a house first, and until you find something to do, I'll send money to you once in a while. You can bring the cat and the horse with you so you won't be lonely, everything I brought for you is still yours. So just forget about me and live a normal life…"

"No!" This couldn't be happening! Even through everything, possibly going to die because of him or the hunters, there was no way she could go back to the village and find someone like him. "If I leave, what about you?" she tried. "You'll get hungry again! And…s-someone has to clean your house since you always leave a mess! And what about…" she tried to calm down by taking deep breaths. "Do you really want me to go? Are you okay with being by yourself again?"

The hand on hers tightened a little and she saw how his eyes wavered. Kido knew he didn't want that either and she thought she got through to him. "But…But you're scared of me!" he suddenly snapped. "You've been scared of me lately! I know you want to leave! You always have!"

"No I don't!" she shook her head. "I don't want to leave, because…" before she could finish, she saw a slight movement behind the vampire. Eyes growing wide, she screamed. "Kano, behind you!"

He turned around to see what it was, only to have a sword impaled into his chest. Kido stared at the sight, her mouth ajar as Kano collapsed onto her lap, his blood soaking her dress. The hunter who survived from having his chest clawed was panting before her.

"T-There…and now…" he reached towards Kido, who snapped out of it and let out another horrified scream. She crawled away from him, her hand touching something metallic. Her mind was blank when she grabbed it, standing up so then she could swing the sharp weapon down at the hunter…

~.~.~.~.~

After that, everything was a blurry. Somehow she managed to kill someone, though she didn't regret it and managed to carry Kano back into the house and tended his wound. She wasn't able to stop the bleeding at first, but she didn't stop trying when he was still breathing, even if it was very faint. She tried something drastic in the end by sewing his wounds up. She was desperate at that time, begging for him to not leave her. It was painful to see him like this, and she just wanted him to live.

After she was done, Kido sat on the floor, staring at nothing but Kano, now bandaged up and passed out on his bed. Blood soaked clothes and bandages were littered everywhere, but she didn't bother throwing them away. She couldn't leave him alone at all. It had started raining at around dawn, and she realized she hadn't slept since then. That was alright though, she didn't want to go back to bed and sleep.

Days passed and Kano had been drifting in and out of consciousness. When he did, he would call out her name, seeking her presence until he was reassured she was still here. Sometimes he just fall right back to sleep, or mumble he was hungry. At that point, Kido let him drink as much as he wanted, even when she fainted from the lack of blood a few times. If it was to keep him alive, so be it.

~.~.~.~.~

On the fourth day, Kido woke up on the floor as the sun shined onto her. She got up, letting out a groan as she wondered how long she had passed out for. She looked around the room, then at Kano, which she blinked at.

"Kano?" she got closer to him to see if she was actually dreaming. He turned to her with tired eyes, breaking into his usual grin.

"Mornin'…" Kido couldn't believe it. Kano was awake, sitting up in bed while smiling at her. She would have cried in joy if she didn't start fussing over him trying to get out of the bed.

"Get back into bed!" she pushed him back down. "Sheesh! What are you thinking!? You're still hurt and in no condition to get up!"

"I'm fine. Vampires heal faster than humans," he insisted but she was having none of that.

"Stay. In. Bed!" she fretted, shaking her head in frustration. "Geez! If I wasn't here, you really would have died!"

Kano stopped trying to get out, slumping back down into bed. "But Kido…"

"No buts!" she snapped. "If you're still thinking on me leaving, forget it!" she wiped her tears that were threatening to spill. "If you think I can just go back and forget about you, I can't! What if the hunters come by again and you get killed for real? You were lucky that I'm here to look after you!"

He stared at her in disbelief. "But…you could die. I'm too dangerous to be around…"

"I don't care!" she glared at his persistence. "Staying here is better than going back to the village where no one will talk to me! I would rather die than go back!" she gripped at her skirt tightly. "I won't be able to make a friend like you there, and I would worry about you if you're still alive or not…"

He blinked. "I'm…your friend?"

She looked at him incredulously. "Of course! No one was ever this nice to me, let alone talk to me." She gave a huff. "You're…you're my first friend. I trust you wouldn't hurt me no matter what happens."

"But how can you say…"

"You didn't try to hurt me after you killed the hunters, remember? You snapped out of it…" she took his hand. "I was scared back then, but not anymore. So let me stay."

She stared at him desperately, waiting for his answer. Kano looked reluctant, but he gave in.

"You're so stubborn…" he said in defeat. Kido couldn't help but laugh.

"Of course I am." Kano gave a groan and pulled his hand away from hers. She gave a frown and leaned closer to him. "Hey, do you really want me to leave?"

There was a silent pause between them. Kano looked away from her as Kido waited patiently.

"No, I don't."

She gave a sigh, and brushed his bangs off his face. He turned back to her to hold her hand again. "I won't let anyone else hurt you."

She smiled gratefully, nodding. "Just don't get hurt yourself."

"Who do you think I am?" he grinned at her. Kido just rolled her eyes, before deciding to get up to refresh herself. However, Kano pulled her back.

"What's wrong?" she turned back to him. "Are you still hungry?"

"No," he tugged her closer. "Just…stay here? Just a bit longer?"

He looked up at her pleadingly, and Kido couldn't help it but give in. "Just a bit longer, okay?" she sat back down beside his bed. "I'm a bit hungry myself."

"Sure…" he gave out a small yawn. Kido held his hand still, quietly watching over him. They were content to be with each other, but they felt even happier now they weren't going to be alone anymore. Whatever it was going to happen to them, they were going to stay together no matter what.

Deceiver: I was going to add Kano making Kido immortal or something like that, but I couldn't fit it in anywhere and I thought this was the best place to end it…and…

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT

Deceiver: I have decided to put the KanoKido oneshot and drabbles on hiatus. There are still a lot of fanfics I haven't finished which readers really want to read already. I want to prioritize my times on the following stories.

-I'm Here for You

-Swan Lake

-HetaOni

-RomaHeta

The first two are still KanoKido, and I want to get back to writing them rather than keep on writing new KanoKido stories. There are more than 30 chapters of oneshots here already, so I think it's enough for now.

As for RomaHeta and HetaOni (if anyone from the Kagepro Fandom reads them), there are only around 10ish chapters left or less. Those two are my first fanfics and one of my best favourites still. I want to finish writing them so then I can move on.

I will get back to writing oneshots and taking requests when I only have one fanfic on priority. Giving me request now is fine, but don't expect them to be coming out pretty soon. Maybe a year?

Until then, thank you for reading all my oneshots till now. It was fun.
