Holding the talisman in her hand, Masako sighed as she crossed her arms. She didn't see this working at all. She agreed to let him do it, just to show that he and Gene were insane and that her guides were not blocking her from seeing things at all. "This is pointless. However, I will accept an apology from you when you are done."

"Yeah sure." Masaharu then closed his eyes and folded his hands in prayer form and went through the mantra that he memorized the night before. Once he opened his eyes he watched her guides just vanish. His eyes focused on her though. Gene was right this would show her that her guides were not helping her. But she did have a good deal of power when it came to what she could see and would attract things that shouldn't be attracted if left uncapped for too long.

Her eyes wide, Masako looked at Naru and gasped when she saw the spirit of his brother standing right by his side. Turning to look at the tree line where there had been nothing she flinched to see the rather scary looking things that didn't look like they had ever been human! 'What the hell!?'

"Now do you see Miss Hara."

Flipping around to see Gene standing there in front of her, Masako took a step back to fall on her behind. "This is some strange trick you did! It can't be true!"

"It is true Miss Hara." Taking a deep breath, Gene crossed his arms. "Once you drop that I will once again vanish from your sight and you will see that. Before you can truly understand what you are truly capable of, you need to understand that your guides need to protect you and help you in different ways." He then sighed as she dropped the talisman and her guides rushed back to her side. But the shock and confusion in her eyes told him all he needed. She didn't see him anymore.

Jumping to her feet, Masako rushed to her car that had gotten there that morning and jumped in. She didn't want to help Mai with her training at all! She wanted to know why she couldn't see Naru's brother and she sadly got that answer. However she did assume that it was a cheap trick, but she also had to face reality. It could be true.

With sad eyes Mai watched as she drove away. "Masako…."

"Don't worry about her kid." When his cousin turned back to him, Masaharu sighed as he smiled at her and winked. "Those spirit guides of her shield her from seeing the ugly of that part of the ability. Seeing that just scared her a little I think."

Nodding, Mai smiled. "I guess you're right." But she knew better. It was because of her and Naru that she even acted like she was at the moment. And then to realize something that big, she just thought that she shouldn't be alone. But she knew that she would never really want to hear those words from her.

"Alright. Spiritual Teleportation." When her eyes went to his again, Masaharu crossed his arms. "Of all the abilities you have, this one and the being able to be pulled into a state like Gene does you, they are right now the two most dangerous things that you can do. Other's may come up as we train and you hone your abilities, but we are starting with them."

"Why are they so dangerous anyway? I understand the being pulled out thing. But what about the other that is really that bad? All I did when I did that was bubble everything that I could see like Ling said to cap my ki." Letting her head fall to the side, she was glad that while Masaharu knew the technical stuff like Naru and Lin did, he still talked normal too.

Nodding as he crossed his arms, Masaharu sighed. "Well for starters, Gene being able to pull you into a dream state. If he can do it, then so can any other spirit that gets near you. I am guessing that the only reason why it hasn't happened is because Gene is typically nearby to you. That is sort of like kids in school. They pay some smart kid money for a paper. Someone else sees it and they want in on the action. More and more start to do it. Most spirits have a story to tell and that would be about it. But there are some that would only want to hurt you. And you can be hurt there just like you can here."

"Wait I can!?" Her eyes bulging, Mai just blinked. They assumed that it was something that could be safe enough for her to do. Especially since it was only Gene that has done it! "But so far Gene is the only one who has been able to do it. Or at least the only one who has done it. I have sent myself there before with Ayako putting me out. I didn't think just anyone could do it."

"You can." His eyes going serious as everyone else did too, Masaharu crossed his arms. "Whenever you have been in your dream state like that you haven't gotten hurt so you probably wouldn't notice. But in your dream state Gene also told me that you can trade back and forth physical objects."

"We can. On a few cases now when Ayako puts me out and I go to talk to Gene, if it is something that I can't say right, Naru will just write down what he wants to ask Gene and then he replies and we go through my pockets." Blinking as she looked down she sighed. "The only time that I ever felt like I could have been hurt was a couple of cases ago. There was a presence there that was scary while I was talking to Gene." But then Mai gasped as she looked back up at Masaharu. "Wait you said I could protect myself when I am like that? How would I do it? Just in case someone else does decide to try it."

"Exactly. And you have to do this too when you meditate to cap off your ki and shut it off like you did with Ling. Same thing. That way you can't get hurt." Masaharu sighed as he laughed. "But I can only show you how to do it here. Gene is actually going to show you how to do it on the other side. Right Gene?" He the smiled as Naru jumped forward and caught Mai as she fell backwards. "So long as she is with your brother, his power is enough to keep anything that is around here at bay. She will be fine. Whose up for something to eat I am starving."

Blinking as she opened her eyes to see Gene standing there next to her, Mai smiled as he helped her up. "Well hi." She then shocked him as she hugged him. "Thank you Gene. For all of these."

Hugging her back, Gene sighed. "It is alright Mai. When your parents told me about Masaharu I wasn't not going to tell you and get you help training."

Laughing as she stepped back, Mai had a few tears in her eyes. "Not just for that Gene. But for talking to Naru. I know you saw it I am sure. But for as long as I have known him, Naru has never smiled like he did last night after you talked to him. Never."

With a soft smile as he sighed, Gene couldn't be happier for his brother. He found someone that he truly loves, that in return truly loves him and seeing him happy. "That's amazing. But right now we have some work to do. You have to learn how to do barriers. And had I known that it was so dangerous for you to be pulled out like I have done, I would never have done it Mai."

"I know. But you are teaching me, so Naru can't say I don't know what I am doing right." Laughing as she closed her eyes, Mai let her head fall to the side. "So what's first?"

"First you do nothing. You sit and do nothing. But think." When she gave him a confused look, Gene sat down and smiled as he pulled her down as well. "You have to focus on keeping a barrier around you. There is a feeling you will get, once you get that feeling and you memorize that, you will be able to keep it going at all time. That is the protection that you are going to need. That's it. Just focus until I tell you the barrier is there then just focus on the feeling you have. That will be how you do it."

"Really that's simple. So just think about a barrier being around me, once you tell me there is one, just remember the feeling right?" When he nodded Mai took a deep breath as she closed her eyes. "I can do that easy. I wish Lin would talk to me like you and Masaharu do."

With a laugh as he watched her, Gene just shook his head with a smile. She was a polar opposite of his brother, and yet, his perfect match in every way. She forced him to show emotions that he usually doesn't show. Which is a good thing for him. But with her abilities, she needed to be trained. Because he knew that if something happened, the sword that his brother used that put him in the hospital would not be the only thing he would draw out if anything ever happened to her.
