Letters from Hyrule

CaH Saga Side Quest! (Former name 'Food of Hyrule'.) Dark will be answering to given questions by a letter. He reminisces and explains as much as he can. You can ask anything from him and gain a letter response! Also Link will be answering if he's asked a question. If you want to ask a question from someone else, like from princess Zelda, that works too!

37. Love Letter

A/N: I have forgotten to say this earlier: The picture I have in use is from dA by an artist lychi and the picture's name is just simply Zelda. I'm sorry that I forgot to inform this important piece of information. T.T

Also, another note: I do NOT own the characters or places unless said otherwise. Nintendo has the rights. =P Honestly speaking, all I have is the idea for the story, few monsters, creatures and bit of changing the places. Oh, and couple of OCs here and there. ^^; I'm certain everyone can figure out which belongs to me and which doesn't. =)

CHAPTER 37: Love Letter

love u dark can i be ur gf i made u a chocolate cake out of chocolate chip cookies. *gives a hug and a kiss* – lunarrainbow13

Dark stared at the short letter / note with a quite bright blush on his face. "And it's not long when someone asked if I had gotten this kind of letter..." He thought and gulped. "And how am I supposed to reply to this?" The dark Hylian wondered before his gaze fell into the chocolate chip cookie cake on the night table. The small table was just big enough to have the cake in there.

Just then Link walked in and started to grin on the second he saw his brother blushing. "What's the letter about?" He inquired with a mischievous grin while coming over the bed.

Dark gave him a mock-glare while trying to keep the small piece of paper out of the Hero's reach. "None of your business." He replied bit harshly.

"Oh, come on! It gotta have something to do with that cake!" Link half whined and tried to get the small piece of paper out of Dark's hands.

"I'll share the cake if you stop trying to get the letter!" Dark answered while crashing to his back on the bed. Link half fell over his brother's chest but still fought to get the small letter.

"Really?" The Hero inquired and stopped his struggling. He turned his bit confused look down into the red eyes of the dark Hylian. Yet, what went unnoticed by Dark was the mischievousness.

"Yes. Now, get off of me." The dark Hylian answered and half forced the Hero off of him while sitting up. Unfortunately, he brought the small piece of paper into Link's reach and the Hero snatched it on that second.

"HA! I got it!" Link shouted while scrambling off of the bed with a slight laugh. He had known for a fact that Dark would've shared the cake anyways whether or not he would've stopped trying to get the letter.

"HEY! Give it back!" Dark screamed and ran after his brother. Link laughed while running around their room and trying to get the short letter read. "Link!" The dark Hylian whined desperately. "You're not being nice!" He continued but felt like facepalming right after the words left out of his mouth.

Link stuck his tongue out at Dark. "I'm your brother, Dark. You really think I'll be nice whole time?" He inquired with a very mischievous grin on his face. The darker Hylian groaned which only got the Hero to laugh. Yet, that short moment also gave him the needed chance to check the short letter. "Aww, this is so cute! You got a little lover there, bro!" Link called and fully laughed as Dark blushed bright red and shoved the Hero down to a close by chair while snatching the short letter back.

"I told you it's none of your concern..." The dark Hylian muttered while walking back to the bed and keeping his back to Link. The Hero still chuckled but his happiness started to die down when Dark sighed heavily and slumped a bit.

"Dark? Hey, bro... Y-you do know I was only teasing? That I didn't mean anything of bad..." Link called worriedly while carefully going to the bed. The dark Hylian just sighed again and slumped even more if possible. "Darky?" The Hero called quietly while gently hugging him. "Are you alright?" He inquired fully concerned.

Dark closed his eyes and sighed once again while leaning into the hug before shrugging a bit. "I'm not sure..." He mumbled and opened his eyes to look at the short message. "I don't know how to... Well..." The dark Hylian continued but trailed off very soon.

"To reply into the letter?" Link inquired and Dark just simply nodded. The Hero sighed a bit but tightened his hold around his Shadow. "Do you have someone special in your life one way or another?" He inquired before coughing a bit and turning his gaze off. "Besides your brothers and all that..." Link mumbled with a slight blush.

Dark chuckled very slightly at the addition before sighing and nodding slightly while bit of blushing. "T-there actually is..." He mumbled while turning his gaze fully away. His ears were partly drooping in different heights and making the look on his face being bit uncertain and worried.

"REALLY?!" Link half shouted while perking up by the answer. "Who is she?" He inquired straight off while wanting to know it all. Dark slumped fully while blushing even deeper and feeling like wanting to vanish or at least to hide his face.

"Don't wanna talk about it..." He mumbled while eventually raising his hands and hiding his face into there. Link was bit startled but sighed soon and pulled the dark Hylian back into tight embrace.

"Alright." He stated with a sigh. "I won't ask a thing and you don't have to say a word unless you want to." The Hero continued with a slight smile. Dark took once a deep breath and calmed down a bit. "Besides, I think you already know how to reply into that letter." Link continued and slightly tapped the piece of paper in his brother's hands. "So, um... Do you want me to leave so you can reply to it in private?" He inquired bit worriedly.

Dark sighed and shook his head. "No... You can stay. Might be best not to be alone for now." He replied before bit reluctantly pulling away from the hug and starting to get out the pens and papers. After that he moved over to Link's night table. "Mine's pretty much occupied so I gotta use yours..." The dark Hylian mumbled while putting the small piece of paper into the table and reading it through again.

Link just simply nodded while staying put. He really didn't want to make Dark feel more uncomfortable than what he already was feeling. So, he soon laid down and kept his gaze in his brother's back. It was easy to notice when Dark started to write his reply.

Dear lunarrainbow13, thank You for Your letter and the cake. I hope You do not get offended that I will share it with my older brother. My oldest brother, unfortunately, lives that of far that I doubt to get a piece for him. Plus I am not sure he'd be at home currently.

I am extremely sorry to say this but I already have someone who has taken my heart. Yet, I would gladly be friends with You. Take care and I truly hope to gain more letters from You.

The dark Hylian sighed heavily and gave the short letter reply to his brother. "Is that good enough?" He inquired while keeping his back to Link. The Hero took the letter and read it through.

"I think it's what it's meant to be. You're being straight and honest." Link answered and gave the letter back. "Dark...? You did know this kind of letters would eventually come, right?" He inquired bit worriedly.

Dark sighed heavily but nodded. "Yeah... I guess I just hoped to avoid them." He replied bit sorrowfully. "So, um... What are we going to do with the cake?" He inquired while finally turning around after having put the short letter into the two envelopes.

"Your cake, your choice." Link replied with a shrug before frowning. "Though, you sure we shouldn't leave a bit for our oldest brother?" He asked while feeling tad sorry about the situation.

Dark grinned bit mischievously. "He's not here and he doesn't need to know." He replied with slight chuckle.

Link slightly deadpanned at his brother's reply. "That's bit mean." He told but couldn't really argue with the logic. Yet, very soon he grinned. "Or we could pack that up, take the letter off and head to our bro's place. How about that?" The Hero suggested with a slightly victorious grin on his face.

Dark frowned and bit slightly at his lower lip. "And that would be slight lie in my letter. AND I already closed the envelopes." He stated bit disappointed.

Link shrugged. "Well, situations change. At the moment you wrote it, you weren't lying. After that the situation changed. It's just simple life." He replied calmly. Dark was still bit hesitant but eventually sighed and nodded.

"Fine. Let's go and visit at there." He half mumbled before giving FULLY strict look to his brother. "But we will NOT say a word about the letter!" Dark half growled.

Link nodded eagerly while keeping his hands behind his back and crossing his fingers. "My lips are sealed." He stated while desperately trying NOT to show them to be a lie. The darker Hylian gave him bit of a skeptical look before sighing heavily.

"I'm going to regret this..." He mumbled before getting up from the bed. "Fine. Let's get going then..." Dark told and the duo started to get ready to leave from one Hyrule into another one to see their oldest brother. "I'll never live this down..."

Few things to notice:

1) Most of the chapters aren't that of long but the least I'm doing is one Word page long so it should be long enough. ^^; Also keep sending the letters even though I'm not certain when the next letter is replied to. ^^; IF we're lucky, it'll be at next Monday but not certain of that. ;) Though, Monday IS the updating day but how often is uncertain. ^^;

2) How to write a letter:

Couple of simple things that I would HIGHLY appreciate:

- Before sending what You've written, please, read it through. Just in case if there's some words missing.

- Dots. I would SERIOUSLY appreciate it if You could actually put a dot after a sentence. Helps TREMENDOUSLY to read it. It's okay if You're not using capitalized letters at the start of a sentence and within names but I would pretty much RECOMMEND the dots into the end of the sentence.

- Paragraphs. Whenever You change the topic in Your letter press that button called Enter. Again, it helps to read the letter and find a way to reply to it.

- NO harmful things. I will NOT accept letters that are having mean and cruel words NOR harmful presents... Though, there IS an exception. I WILL send such thigngs into Evil Realm. At first I had thought to deny it from there too but then I came up with that one story with the send magic bomb and, well, yeah... But such things will NOT be send to Dark, Link, Zelda or others who are NOT thorough bad guys. Thank You for Your understanding.

All of these little things also helps YOU to give a better picture of You to the character You send the letter.

Still in working:
1) Do a drawing from one of my stories and I'll write you a story OR I can give bit of preview from upcoming chapters or next stories. =)
2) Send questions to Dark and/or Link! Also, other characters will be answering if you want to send a question for them! =)
