Flashback:
Kagura gave a weak laugh as she turned her eyes to Kagome. "Don't cry over me Kagome. I can leave this earth knowing that I did something good and just. I got to see first-hand the true power of light over darkness from everyone of you and I have no regrets." Kagura said coughing up blood and her eyes drifted close for a moment.
"KAGURA" Kagome shouted lightly shaking the wind demon.
"I'm finally free." Kagura smiled as her eyes closed for the finally time.
With all the extra sensitivie hearing amongst them, there was no need to say anything. They all knew Kagura the wind sorcress was no more.
"Thank You Kagura for your self- less sacrafice. It will not be in vain, this we promise you." Sesshomaru said everyone nod thier heads in agreeance at Sesshomaru's words.
Chapter 36: Love At It's Finest
(Kagome and The Others)
There were no words spoken between anyone in the group as they took Kagura's body back to the castle. Sesshomaru glanced over at his mate worried for her mentally, no tears, no anger came from her as if she wasnt with them but somewhere else. But he decided not to say anything for now until they were along in the castle.
Sesshomaru wasn't the only one worried for Kagome, Miroku and Sango have been watching her as well fearing for as she walked with them towards the castle in a trance, not saying anything to anybody and what was even more frighting her aura kept spiking higher and higher. They were sure that she would drain herself or pass out from such exertion of powers, the emotions they were feeling from Kagome were to many to disect at once. They shared a looked between them silently agreeing that whatever was troubling Kagome, Sesshomaru would be able to handle as her mate and all they could do is how for the best.
(Kagome's Thoughts)
It's my fault that Kagura died, she died protect me and Sesshomaru and all she wanted to do was the right thing and be free like the wind. To live her life like any other demoness and Kagura would never do that because she failed to act.
"What good I'm." Kagome silently screamed in her mind.
"All these powers and I still act like that little girl who first came tot he fuedal era that needs protecting."
"Im a miko goddess and I can't control these powers to save my own life."
"My mate and my friends could have been killed because of me. BECAUSE OF ME!"
Everyone stopped dead in thier tracks when the ground began to rumble and Kagome was surrounded by a white light that was bright that they all had to look away.
(Sesshomaru)
Sesshomaru knew he had to calm down his mate before she did something she regretted her powers were just as great if not more stronger than his own and he still have the terrible memories of when he lost control of his emotions, his power and hurt innocent people. He did not want the same thing for his mate.
He raised his aura just as high as Kagome's, mating with her gave him some her powers as well as she recivivng his. He was going to attempt to calm her through thier bond, it's was told through the centuries of the house of the moon that when you mating with a powerful person and you both love each other the bond can be so strong that you can have a mind link with that person and he hope the same is with Kagome.
"Kagome." Sesshomaru called to her mind.
Sesshomaru was going to call to her with the mind link again when she turned to face him and his heart almost broke in two at the sight before him. His love was trying to hold back tears, but they weren't just tears of sadness. They were tears of anger,rage,hopelessness,and of guilt and he hated to see her in such a way.
"Kagome my love. Please listen to me." He pleaded. "What happened to Kagura wasn't your fault. You've got to believe that."
Kagome shook her head at Sesshomaru's words as if to attempt to shake them from her mind.
" Leave." Was all Kagome said.
She cast her eyes to the ground not wanting to see the hurt in Sesshomaru's eyes from the one simple word and it killed her to say it. But that is how she felt, he doesn't need a weak mate like her,someone that constantly has people dying around them, someone who can't control thier powers, he deserves better. She thought.
Kagome forgot to put up a block on her connection to Sesshomaru and when he heard the thoughts racing through her head, he felt like he want to shake the life out of her. He was in her face in an instant.
"Kagome my koi, look at me." Sesshomaru said softly.
"You are the one I want and no one else. You are by far from weak, your heart is what makes you powerful." "Your kindness and forgiviness is what attracts me to you, your sense of loyalty and a fiereceness to the protect the people you love will always keep me by your side." "Your beauty and powers are just a bonus to the perfect package and I thank the kamis everyday and night that you are mine."
"But Sesshou-." Kagome was cut off when Sesshomaru gave her a passion filled kiss with all the love he held in his heart for her. It lasted for a few moments, until they both needed air and he rested his forehead against hers and looked deep into her eyes.
"We will avenege all those who have been slain by Naraku and those who have died fighting to keep evil from destroying all that is dear and near to us. Together." He vowed to the love of his life.
Miroku and Sango watch the display between the Kegan Taiyoukai and the Miko Goddess, Sango with tears in her eyes and Miroku feeling proud as ever to have Sesshomaru as family and a ally.
After that Kagome couldn't find the words to say anything after Sesshomaru spoke from heart, so she turned to look at Sango and Miroku.
"Miroku could you carry Kagura's body, we are over half way to the castle." She asked and he nodded taking the body of the falling wind sorceress.
She then turned he attention back to her mate. " I love you, mate." She said with a real genuine Kagome smile.
"And I you koi." " Let's go home." He said and they continued the rest of the way to the western castle.
So caught up in the moment with Kagome and Sesshomaru, neither Miroku or Sango notice that a shadow figure had knocked out Inu Taisho and made off into the woods with him.
