Kagome sighed as her teacher passed back the test he'd given them the week before, the failing grade on her paper eliciting a hot, gut wrenching nausea low in her chest. She'd studied the best she could with her substandard notes, and now she'd no doubt have to repeat the year. What the hell had happened to her textbooks? They stay put during all her escapades in the feudal era, but one day at home and they up and vanish.

Her friends all bore similarly dejected faces as they met up at the shoe lockers, even Ayumi seemed down. They walked out into the schoolyard, their collective depression creating a dark atmosphere.

"Higurashi!"

Kagome winced and picked up her pace, only to be yanked back by Eri as Hojo approached them.

"Hey, Higurashi. I see you've overcome your fibromyalgia."

Kagome cringed outwardly, "Yeah, thanks for noticing."

The taller boy began to blush, and Kagome knew exactly what he was going to ask. "So, uh, Kagome, I was wondering if you'd like to go to a movie sometime."

She gave a mental sigh and was about to give some inane excuse only Hojo would believe, when a deep voice drew everyone's attention.

"Priestess, you are needed at the shrine." Sesshomaru stood in front of the group, towering over them.

"Sesshomaru!" Kagome exclaimed, surprised, not only by his presence, but by his appearance - she knew he'd look good in blue. She stilled her erratic heartbeat before he could hear it. "What are you doing here?"

He turned his golden eyes on Hojo, his expression unreadable. "To retrieve you."

She smiled at how convenient everything was. "Sure, let's go. Sorry, Hojo, maybe another time." Grinning widely, she walked beside the Demon Prince, leaving rumors to ruminate in their absence.

I am SOOOOOOO sorry for not updating on Tuesday (I haven't updated much of anything), but I've had rehearsals right after school and my mother's a suspicious old bat who turns off the internet at nine. . I've been getting home at ten thirty all week, but all will be back to normal next week, as my performances are tonight and tomorrow only. Thank you so much for not barraging my email with reminders, I don'g deserve your patience.
