Prompt: Draco Malfoy and Blaise Zabini
Theme: Coming home
"Where were you?!" Draco demanded, breathing heavily as his hands shook. But whether with the urge to punch or pull the other wizard closer, he did not know. Either way, the sight of Blaise Zabini stirred a range of emotions.
Blaise, meanwhile, removed some imaginary lint off his cloak, his expression cool and collected. He met Draco's gaze and shrugged. "My mother and I had business to attend to in Italy."
Draco sneered. "Oh, please!"
"You don't have to believe me, Draco, but trust I never meant for you to think I'd forgotten you."
"So … what? You just thought I'd be fine with you leaving—"
" — as I said, I never intended—"
"I WAS ALONE!" For the first time since arriving, Blaise fell silent. Draco wasn't sure if he preferred it that way or not, wasn't sure of anything anymore. Except one thing: how he'd felt the day he realised the boy he cared for had abandoned him. Unshed tears burned his eyes, and Draco couldn't care less if they spilled. Let him see what he did, Draco thought.
It was silent for a moment longer, when Blaise finally willed himself to speak again. "You were close to the Dark Lord himself, Draco. He was living in your house. I couldn't stay out of it and remain by your side." Blaise took a step forward. "But I'm here now. I've come home, to you."
Draco looked at the floor. "What if I don't want you to be here?"
Blaise smirked. "When have I ever listened to what you had to say?"
