Lycan Ianto
Chapter 38
"Uncle Ianto, will my daddy be coming back for us?" Conner's youngest son, Isaac asked as they were taken to the safe house.
Ianto quickly looked at Cherie and knelt down to talk to Isaac "Most definitely, we.." Ianto pointed to Jack and the others as they carried in the suitcases of Conner's family, "will be doing everything to get your dad back to you real fast"
Settling the two boys Alex and Isaac into the larger of the three bedrooms and Bridget into the other bedroom, Bridget pursed her lips together trying, unsuccessfully to stifle a sob, Jack silently pulled out a clean handichef and handed it to her. She took it quickly and as she rubbed at her eyes, Jack sat down on her bed and said, "You okay? Is there anything I can get you?"
"Daddy always reads to us each night" Bridget said between sniffles.
"Would you like me to read to you?" Jack asked in a friendly tone.
Bridget blinked and chewed her bottom lip then turned her bright green eyes and surveyed this new stranger in the large grey coat, "Daddy is reading 'The Lion, the Witch and Wardrobe, we are up to chapter five" she said in way of saying that would be okay.
"Did you bring it along?"
"Yes" as she rushed to get the afore mentioned book from her bag, as Cherie came in the room, then Bridget sat on the bed with an anticipated look.
Cherie sat on the end of the bed and gave Jack a silent nod and a smile in acknowledgement. Jack pulled up a chair closer to bed and opened the book to chapter five and started to read. Ianto smiled as he passed by the bedroom on his way to bringing the last suitcase into the main bedroom and saw that Jack was reading to Bridget as she sat listening enthralled with Jack rendition of the characters in the book.
Twenty minutes later Jack noticed Bridget looking sleepy as she struggled to keep her eyes open he suggested she get into bed. Pulling the covers up around her chin and tucking it into the side of the bed Jack quietly said good night.
"Thank you. You will get daddy home soon?" Bridget murmured.
"Yes your daddy will be reading you the next chapter real soon" Jack said, with a silent prayer that they were able to retrieve Conner safely.
"Thank you Jack" Cherie said heaving a sigh of relief as they exited the bedroom.
Closing the door to the bedroom they followed the heavenly scent of freshly brewed coffee finding their way to the kitchen. There sat Ianto, Gwen, Tosh and Owen sipping on the coffee that they could smell. As soon as they entered the kitchen Ianto got up to pour them a coffee.
"So the plan as it stands is that we assumed that the elders will go to Conner's house to retrieve the plants," Jack said as he settled his hands around the warming cup of coffee, smiling at his lover in thanks, "depending on how many go into the house, any on look out duty we shoot"
"This time we cut off their heads, yeah?" Owen asked, he was fed up of the pussy footing around, if they had chopped off their heads the first time they wouldn't have this problem now, he had voiced this previously but was shut down by Ianto and surprisingly enough Jack.
Ianto looked towards Jack, they had privately discussed this at length as they wanted to present a united front, "No, not at this time" Jack said.
"Are you fucking kidding me?" Owen bellowed, "How many times do they need to attempt to kill humanity?"
"Look Owen, I know that they are a threat to all humans but I don't believe that they all have these ideals"
"And how do you expect to find out which ones are on our side and which ones want to kill us?" Owen said mockingly.
Ianto sighed heavily and looked at the others to gauge their feelings, Cherie looked back at him worriedly, Tosh and Gwen looked at him questionably, "There are some, O'Hannan is one, I believe that there is more that believe that lycans can live together with humans, who are we to kill them all?"
"Are you sympathising with them…..their cause?...Ianto are you more human or more lycan?" Owen exploded.
Ianto just looked at Owen his stare menacing, challenging Owen to make the first move, feeling the first tingling of change, he growled.
Cherie was never too happy about this plan as it left Conner so open to being taken but acquiesced to knowing that their hands were tied until the elders took one of them but also knowing that once the lycans took one of them then the plan would take effect. She hoped that the plan didn't mean loss of life for anyone, she believed, like Conner that not all lycans wanted the total annihilation of the human species. She hoped that those could be saved and more importantly that Conner wasn't killed by any elders who may have gotten angry and wanted revenge on those that sided with the humans. Feeling the tension in the room Cherie spoke up, "Owen please, Ianto like Conner will not always condone killing lycans or anyone just because you feel you need to stop a threat, there is always another way, please understand killing all the lycans is the same as them wanting to kill all of us" she spoke softly but with conviction.
Jack looked admirably at Cherie, seeing the strong woman and why Conner cherished and trusted this woman, her strength of character, and her love for all things important, lycans and humans.
"Okay we were never too sure if they would take Conner or Ianto or anyone of us. But this is the plan we have, so we act now" Jack said bringing the conversation back to the plan.

Conner was roughly pulled out of the van outside his house causing him to stumble to the ground not being able to right himself as his hands were bounded behind him. O'Hannan helped him to his feet, their eyes locked for a fleeting moment. The surge of belonging that all lycans have with the one that turned them burning through them in the seconds that their limbs touched. Just as quickly as to not arouse suspicions they pulled apart as soon as Conner was upright.
"You and you stay outside as look outs, I want to know as soon as you see any of those Torchwood clowns" McGregor sneered as he pointed to two large men in suits.
Conner was pushed to his front door with McGregor, O'Hannan and Thompson behind him, "Open it" demanded McGregor.
Conner shrugged and looked behind him to his bound hands.
O'Hannan turned Conner around, grabbing his hands he placed his thumb on the finger reader of his entry door, "You're lucky we didn't cut off one of your hands before, to get to your plants" O'Hannan said gruffly, hoping to convene to Conner that this was discussed with the elders as a way of getting into his home but he dissuaded them from doing this. As much as lycans can live for a very long time, a severed hand is not something that can heal unless the hand is surgically put back together, so this was not something that O'Hannan wanted for his turned lycan. Conner wanted to thank him as he understood his meaning but didn't want to make further eye contact with him, he continued to play the captured victim.
"Right, lead the way" Thompson said as he nudged Conner in the back, "to the greenhouse"
The lycan guards stood still outside Conner's house and to anyone passing they would just look like someone waiting, what wasn't obvious was they were continually sniffing the air for the likes of Ianto, knowing that he would probably make a move to save his friend Conner.
Driving in the less obtrusive sports car Gwen and Tosh parked at the top of the street of Conner's house glancing up ahead they sighted the two guards standing outside.
"Yep Jack, just as you predicted there are guards outside" Tosh said into the Bluetooth device.
"Okay let's do this" Jack said nodding to Ianto and Owen as they sat in the more noticeable SUV as they parked further away, "Gwen….in 3..2..1..go"
Gwen floored the sports car speeding towards Conner's house, as they passed Tosh threw out a two packages, each one close to the guards. On impact to the ground the contents exploded sending out a heady aroma of oranges, limes, frangipani and hibiscus scented flour. Stunned by this the guards yelled out to the wayward young folk who they figured had rich parents so the these bored teenagers could cause havoc to curb their boredom. The guard on the right said to his companion, "Not much longer now and these idiotic humans will be no more"
"Shush" the other guard admonished him putting his hands to his nose trying to get the aromatic smell of over-fragrant flowers and citrus.
Hiding the sedative gun in his jacket pocket Ianto quickly ran down the street, using his lycan speed. As the guards desperately tried to dust down the fragrant flour Ianto neared as he ran down unseen and with the potent smell invading their smell receptors without being detected by scent.
Knowing the sedative gun had a range of ten metres Ianto pulled out the gun to shoot when the guard closest to Ianto looked up and pulled out his own gun.
