Thank you for the reviews! It took me a while to get here, but RL and work and blah blah blah got in the way of things. But I'm glad I finally finished this story. It's a short chapter (real short) compared to all the others, but it's just the Epilogue. Enjoy!

Epilogue

13 months later...

Mary rolled over and found the empty bed, "Damn it, he promised…"

"Shh…Mare, Max woke before you did and I didn't want him to wake you," came from the doorway.

Marshall stood leaning against the doorjamb as he looked at his wife sprawled naked under the blankets, he was holding his four month old son against his chest.

Mary stuck out her arms and wiggled her fingers for him to come to bed with their son, "Come back to bed, love."

He grinned, every time she called him her love was like the first time she had told him that she loved him.

It had been a week since they both returned from Washington DC, Steel had given her a week to get her affairs together before going back to the Sunshine building.

They woke up and cuddled for a moment before stepping under the shower together, he pulled her close as he washed her hair and body, she returned the favor teasing him the whole time. They made love one more time against the shower wall before they dried each other and left for the office.

He dropped her off at her storage unit to pick up her car and he went on his way into the office, it had taken a lot in him to leave her and wait for her in the office, but she had chosen him and he owed her all the trust in the world.

She was late into the Sunshine building and swiped her card before pushing the door open, Stan walked out of his office and stared open-mouthed at her.

"Shut it before a fly finds a home in there," she joked as she dropped a complicated coffee drink on Marshall's desk, "You owe me $3.50, make that $4.50."

"Why the dollar up rise?" he asked with a pout as he took out a five from his wallet, "You owe me 50 cents."

"Dream on, Doofus," she smirked and sat behind her desk, logging into her desktop.

"Mary? What are you doing here?" came from Stan as he stared down at her in disbelief.

"I work here, what else would I be doing here?" she scoffed as she looked over at Marshall, rolling her eyes like she didn't know what was up with Stan.

"What!?" Stan roared in surprise. "You…Director Steel…you chose to come back? Then why weren't you…explain please!"

Mary started to laugh at Stan's surprised stuttering, they had never seen him so speechless that nothing that he tried to say made sense, "Here's the paperwork. I've been reinstated to start work here and I asked for some time to settle some personal things."

At those words she looked over at Marshall and winked, Stan didn't miss it, "What was that? Did you just wink?"

"Wink? Me? Yeah, sure, next think you'll say is that all my file folders will be of 'My little pony'," she scoffed in defense.

"Inspector Shannon, you are trying my patience."

She sighed heavily and got serious saying, "I chose here, I chose Albuquerque, but I couldn't tell you until I cleared it with my significant other. It's all in that folder I gave you, it was cleared and we'll make sure you don't regret it."

"Your significant other?" he looked over to Marshall and noted the blush on his cheeks.

Stan opened the folder and saw the letter, giving Marshall and Mary the opportunity to prove themselves with Stan when it came to their careers as partners. If for whatever reason they risked a witness for the other's safety first, then they would have to be partnered with someone else. If they broke up, she would be transferred on the first flight out.

"Fine, i don't know how you pulled this off...actually I think I do," he grumbled knowing how persuasive Mary could be when she set her mind to something she really wanted, he went back to his office, Mary and Marshall stood up and reached for one another, "No PDA in the office, no matter the circumstance!"

They jumped apart before he pulled her close again, "I love you, Mare"

"I love you too, Doofus" that had been the first of many times that she would say those words to him.

She held her son against her as he fed off of her, Marshall wrapped his arms around the bundles of joy in his life. Maximillian Marshall Mann had been conceived in her hotel room, on the trip to DC that changed their lives and brought Mary back into his life permanently.

They had married in his backyard, a month after their return from DC, only close family and a friend or two had accompanied them in their small ceremony.

"I still love you, Doofus," she murmured against his lips as he kissed her softly.

"I know, I still love you too."

Finito...till we meet again. I bid you adieu! Not sure when or if I'll be posting any stories any time in the recent future. Maybe one-shots for the 'Buttefly Effect', but otherwise long stories will be posted when they are completely done. :/ Please review review review! :)
