Season 2 Episode 17
While upper east siders are hitting the snooze button, Blair Waldorf had a rude awakening when the rooster crowed at dawn this morning.
Layla walked into the dinning room of their house and sat next to Nate. Nate's phone rang and he picked it up.
"No… Why What's up?... Really" Nate said then looked over at Layla "I'm waiting for Vanessa. Why…Okay."
Nate grabbed a napkin and wrote down an address.
"We'll see you there…Yes she's with me…I'll ask her" Nate said then hung up.
"Who was that?" Layla asked.
"Chuck, were you with him last night?"
"No, why?"
"He said he thinks it's the best night he ever had"
"Did he try Blair?" Layla joked.
"You're funny" Nate said getting up "Come on we need to meet Vanessa and then meet Chuck at this address."
"Okay lets go" Layla said getting up.
"Sophie?"
"I hate to be one of those parents but mom hired a nanny, I guess she's back into she makes it hard being a good parent when she isn't the best example."
"Well when your out of highschool maybe you'll be a good mother, a better one than her."
"You're funny" she said throwing a berry at his head.
"Oww Lay"
They arrived at the address after getting Vanessa.
"Please tell me what we're doing here." Vanessa said.
"Yeah, and talk about the filthy rich w-what happened to you?" Nate asked Chuck as he approached them.
"Yesterday, I received an envelope. Inside was a business card with an address, a date and a time on it. No name. I assumed it was some overly designed invitation to a business meeting."
"Okay" Layla said
"When I arrived at the address, it was something different entirely."
"A high-stakes poker game?" Vanessa said.
"Or an arms dealer auction?" Nate asked.
Chucked walked over to the door and unlocked it.
"The ultimate private gentleman's club." Chuck said .
"Of course" Layla said.
"I walked through this door."
"And it was the Chuck Bass version of Narnia?" Vanessa said getting a glare from Chuck.
"She was the most beautiful woman I've ever seen."
"Besides me of course" Layla said then got a glare from Chuck" I tried"
"It's like she was waiting for me ready to serve knowing my every desire"
"Are you sure it wasn't me?" Layla joked getting a glare from her brother.
"Okay, we don't need details." Vanessa said.
"Sadly, I'm pretty sure that's as far as it went. I woke up alone in a hotel room. In a cruel twist of fate, I don't even remember her name."
"Okay not me" Layla said
"Well, what exactly do you remember?" Nate asked.
"Not a lot. I'm hoping coming here will change that." Chuck said and then walked up stairs. Layla spotted the piano and started to play. Vanessa sat on one side of her and Nate the other.
"You don't seem to be taking this well" Vanessa said to Layla.
"Just confused on what I gotta do to get his attention" she replied.
"You already have his attention A,"
"You seem to be comparing notes with Riley"
"Who's Riley?"
"Oh you haven't met her musician friend" Nate asked.
"I'll bring him to meet you. He's not a big society event person either" Layla said "You two would get along. Too bad your with my brother you would so be Riley's type"
"I would throw a berry at you if I had one" Nate said as his sister continued to play.
"Your amazing at this" Vanessa commented.
"Thanks, I want to go to Julliard for it." Layla smiled as her phone buzzed she stopped and picked it up.
"Is is lonely boy giving a certain new teacher more than just an apple?"
"Oh my god Dan" Layla said reading her phone.
"What about him?"
Layla showed Vanessa the post.
"Wow!"
"I'll text him later" Layla said as Chuck came down the stairs.
"So the ultimate gentlemen's club was here? Because this place reminds me of my aunt's house." Nate said and Layla nodded.
"This was the place. I knew it. There were velvet curtains blocking this hallway. There were women wearing masks, lying on a divan right where this piano is."
"All right, listen, maybe you should get some rest." Layla said standing up and walking over to him.
"It could help jog your memory." Nate said standing by Vanessa behind Layla.
"Or warm ginger ale." Layla said "It's a miracle hangover cure."
"This is her." Chuck said picking up a picture "This is the woman."
"She's pretty" Layla said looking at the photo a tad jealous.
"Let me see." Nate said and Chuck handed over the picture.
"No way. The mom?" Vanessa said "This must be her house."
"Well, there's only one way to find out." Nate said picking up a brochure.
Later that afternoon Layla and Vanessa went to the Gallery and met up with Dan.
"So you ratted on blair? You templeton." Vanessa said.
"A "Charlotte's Web"-sult? That's very cute. And, no, technically, I did not rat on Blair. I just told Rachel to put the squeeze on the weakest of her kilted cronies."
"Nelly Yuki" Layla said.
"See even Layla knows that answer"
"Nelly wants Yale as bad as Blair, she'll turn on her any second"
"And what does Serena think of you getting her best friend expelled?"Vanessa asked.
"The moment Blair involves me in her schemes, the "boyfriend of the b. f f " clause is officially null and void."
"Seems logical" Layla commented.
"So she brought it on herself." Vanessa said.
"The alleged online slander incident?" Rufus said from behind them. Her and Dan turned to him.
"What? You, um you heard about the rumor?" Dan asked.
"You gave it a name?" Layla asked.
"Well, the parents' council called an emergency meeting tonight. Apparently, my son is the object of the slander, assuming that it is slander you and Ms. Carr"
"A package for vanessa abrams." someone said.
"Saved by the bell." Vanessa said leaving the conversation.
"Dan, if I'm gonna walk into a room full of fired-up parents, I need to know. Is there something we need to talk about?"
"I'll text you later Romeo" Layla said getting up "It was good to see you Rufus."
"You too Layla, tell Sophie hi for me." Rufus said.
The next morning Layla walked into the dinning room caring Sophie and spotted Vanessa and Nate
"I see we had a sleepover last night" she commented.
"You didn't tell me Layla was here" Vanessa said.
"Oh I was and you might want to sound proof your room Nate. Me and Soph could hear everything. Couldn't we Soph"
"Oh my god I am so embarrassed" Vanessa said.
Nate threw a berry at her.
"Your messing with us."
"No, why would I Layla Archibald do that." Layla smiled.
They say every action has an equal and opposite reaction. And once something is set in motion, it can't help but build momentum. One thing is certain on the upper east side what goes around, comes around.
