A/N: Hey guys! How'd you like that last chapter? Anyways, I will bring in a theory that I think no one think can be true, but it is in the chapter. Now, don't hate too much, but hey, it's for a good cause. :) ONWARD!
Team JNPR including Kris entered Team RWBY's dorm to see what happened, and when they went in, they instantly asked who screamed.
"Is everything all right?" Pyrrha was the first to ask. "Is Dev having another nightmare?" Kris looked over and already knew exactly what the commotion was about. Dev looked down as he was still trying to control his breathing. He looked like he just saw a ghost, his face was pale. "Uh oh, Dev, was it really bad?" Kris went over and sat on his bed, trying to make him look at her, but he still looked down.
"He had one like this a while back, but it wasn't that bad..." Yang spoke up while rubbing her eyes. "Dev's been having these ever since, well, when he was little." Ren, Jaune, and Nora went back to their dorms after hearing that he was okay. Pyrrha decided to stay, as she was thinking about something might could do to help Dev.
"Hey, hey...it's all right, you're fine, Dev." Kris said softly as she kissed him on his forehead. Dev didn't say any words, his only action was that he slowly wrapped his arms around Kris. He was glad that she was still alive, along with all his friends. He was sick of having all the nightmares. "I...lost control of myself." He finally said. "A-and...I killed all of you guys..." Everyone looked at each other with concern. "Psychopathic tendencies in dreams, huh?" Weiss said out loud. "You know, if he has too many of those, he might end up like one." She said bluntly. To avoid any more conversation, Dev kept quiet and continued to hold onto Kris. Blake wondered if Dev had those almost every night, but they weren't as bad. It shocked her that these were so often.
"Actually...I think I might be able to help." Pyrrha said, smiling. "Really?" Kris raised an eyebrow for a moment. Ruby was astonished. "Wow! But...I thought you can control magnets?" "Magnetism!" Weiss reminded. Pyrrha walked over and sat next to his bed. "It might work...or it might not. But it'll be worth a shot. What I can do, is that I can tap into his aura, and look into his mind." She said, thinking whether she should even go in, fearing what she would see. "Are you sure you'd want to do that?" Kris questioned it, knowing whatever is inside Dev's mind, isn't exactly pleasant.
Pyrrha nodded. "I'll try. Dev, Lie down for me. And do exactly as I say." She said. Dev sighed deeply and complied, lying down. Kris sat back and watched Pyrrha place one hand on Dev's chest, and one on his right cheek. "Close your eyes, and relax." Dev felt Pyrrha's hands settle on him and he slowly relaxed. "Now, whatever you see, no matter how bad it is, you have to let it go. Just fight it. Okay?" Dev nodded to Pyhrra's directions.
A red aura surrounded Pyrrha and it lit up a room. "Oooh." Ruby said in a cheery voice. The others had their eyes on Dev. A dark blue aura began to surround Dev, and both their auras mixed, creating a purple where Pyrrha hands made contact with Dev. "Pyrrha, be careful." Kris warned, not wanting anything bad to happen to them. Pyrrha was concentrating. "I'm hear Dev." She said out loud.
Dev looked around, and all he saw was darkness. "Pyrrha?" He asked out. "I'm here Dev." He heard an echo of what was her voice. "Where am I?" He continued. "I'm in your thoughts, I want you to think of what you fear the most." She said. "Okay..."
The scenery changed, a building was being constructed all around him. As he watched everything being put out for him, he noticed it was his house, the one that his parents were killed in. "Oh man..." "Go ahead." He heard her say. Dev slowly walked into the building and saw was he feared the most. Elias Lykos. But he didn't just see him, he saw his parents, all of his friends, and Kristine. Elias had them all on the ground, blades within all of them. "Oh God no...not again." Dev started to shake. "Dev, let it go, these events aren't real, and they shouldn't haunt you like this." "Hello, Deveraux." Elias said to him darkly. He walked over to him and laughed. "Still pathetic as ever?" He asked him. "No!" A small voice screamed. "Let me go!"
Dev looked up and saw a kid version of himself float down into Elias's hands, and a blade appeared, the same one that he used to give him the scar. "You...bastard." Dev said as he saw himself, the scared look in his eyes. "Fight it Dev, it's not real." Pyrrha's voice started to dissipate and he couldn't hear her that much. "Pyrrha!" He called out. "What's wrong Dev? Are you scared?" Elias asked him, bringing the blade to little Dev's face.
Dev couldn't move, it's as the fear was so bad, he forgot even how to move. Elias started to cut little Dev's face, and he began to scream. As the blade moved along his face, Dev could feel the blade on his own face, cutting slowly. "GAHH!" He screamed with the kid version of himself. "Fight it, Dev..." He could hear all his friends weakly. They kept repeating it over, and over again. "Does it hurt, Dev?" Elias continued to cut little Dev's face.
"Oh my..." Pyrrha said. "He can't hear me anymore." "Wait, what's happening to him?!" Kris asked. Blake stuffed her face in her pillow, and just listened to what continued to happen. Yang, Weiss, and Ruby just watched. "That man...Elias? He is remembering what he did to him as a child...how he got that scar." Kris looked to Pyrrha and back to Dev repeatedly. "Dev, you need to fight it. You have to fight it." Pyrrha repeated, trying to make him hear it. Kris was extremely worried, she felt like she couldn't do anything, only sit and watch Dev's face twist in pain. As if he was actually feeling the pain.
"Damn you, Elias...I'll...KILL YOU!" He screamed, but he couldn't move. Elias laughed and dropped little Dev, and Dev watched as the kid version of himself slowly cry. Dev tried, as hard as he could to move, and he felt this anger dwelling with him. "You can't do anything to me Dev, and you never will." Dev's body started to move, and he felt his body course with power. Yamato was starting to awaken. "Eliasss...what you did to me...you will pay...rrrrRRHHAAA!" He screamed and punched forward. His fist went right through Elias's head, and Elias turned into smoke. Dev began to hear Yamato laugh. "Yamato?"
You finally faced your fear.
What does that have to do with this?
Your friend helped you with it, in fact. I can feel her presence here...
She did help me...I did it. I finally don't fear Elias anymore.
But you fear the future.
What? What do you mean?
That dream you had was a prediction. You fear I will take over you?
Yamato, we both know you just want power.
Hahahah, you actually think I'm the bad guy here? No, in fact, you still have a lot of time. Why don't you wake up.
Time? Time for what? Yamato!
The buildings and everyone dissipated, and he felt like he was falling, falling forever...until he hear a voice. "Dev, wake up!"
Dev shot up, and Pyrrha took her hands off of him. "Are you alright?" She asked. The colors of both their aura's faded, and he looked around at everyone. "I...don't fear him anymore." He said quietly. Kris sighed in relief and hugged Pyrrha. "Thank you so much!" Pyrrha laughed. "It took some time, but he finally faced his fear. I don't think he should have the nightmares anymore." She said. "Hey Dev, you okay there bud?" Yang asked from her bed.
Dev grinned like his normal self. "Just like new again." "You ready for the mission tomorrow?" Blake asked, removing her face from the pillow. "Hell ya." He looked over to Pyrrha. "Thanks. I really owe you one." He smiled at her, and plopped himself back down. Pyrrha stood up and walked over to the door. "See you all in the morning." She said before she left. "Weeeellllp! I'm going back to bed, it's nice too see Dev should be all good now!" Ruby said before throwing herself down on her pillow. Kris kissed Dev quickly before leaving.
As she left, he lied back down. "Night guys." He said to the others. They all said their goodnights, and went to sleep.
Dev, for the first time in a long time. Finally got a good night's sleep.
A/N: Remember how Pyrrha unlocked Jaune's aura? Well, it's was just a thing I thought up, I wanted to make sure that Dev could get over his fears. Don't worry though, there will be pleeeaanty more where that came from. Hope you guys liked it! See you next chapter!
"Damn, I'm tired." Deveraux Mercer
"Then SLEEP ALREADY!" Kristine Lykos
