Chapter 37

"It looks like everyone is here." Temari told Kankuro and Gaara.

Kankuro looked around, leaning closer he said, "Minako's not here."

Temari not seeing her either agreed with Kankuro, "I wonder why." She turned to Danzo. "Where's Minako?"

Danzo sat down with his two men standing behind him, "She won't be coming."

Mei, the Mizukage, asked, "Why not? I like her input."

A, the Raikage, looked at the other Kages, "We are also waiting on another man." but then turning back to Danzo, "And what did happen to Minako?"

Danzo stared at them, "She is classified as a rogue shinobi."

Temari placed her hands on the table as she asked, "Why?!"

Kankuro placed his hand on her arm. The others looked at Danzo for an explanation.

"She stole secret documents from Konoha as it fell." Danzo closed his eye.

Gaara looked at Danzo coldly. Mei turned to A and said, "I didn't think she would do something like that."

A nodded, "I didn't think so either. I saw her as honest shinobi and loyal to her village."

Then a voice came from the behind Danzo, "We don't have time to look into it."

Danzo turned and saw a tall, blond-haired man. "Ah you're finally here Yasu." Mei said, "now let's get started."

"Hey, Shiro." Eri walked over to where Shiro was working with Iruka. Shiro looked up from what he was doing. Eri said, "I have a favor to ask you. Can you come with me for a moment?"

Shiro looked at Iruka. Iruka nodded for him to go with Eri. Shiro put down the boards he was carrying. Walking down the road, they turned a corner. Eri turned and looked at Shiro.

"One of the burns on my back I think is infected. The others are really busy and Jade isn't here. Sakura and Ino went to Naruto's group." Eri turned and raised the back of his shirt.

Shiro saw that Eri was right. When he touched the red flesh, Eri sucked in sharply.

"You're right, it is infected." Shiro crossed his arms. "It must not have gotten healed enough when we were getting away from those other ninjas."

Eri turned to look at him, "Will you be able to heal it?"

"Can you stay in that form while I do?" Shiro looked at him intently.

Eri's face fell, "No, but that's why I wanted you to do it. The fewer people who know who I am the better."

Shiro said, "We could ask Iruka. He can do a barrier jutsu."

Eri looked over Shiro's shoulder but then looking back at him he asked, "Will it conceal us?"

Shiro thought about it, "I think he can. I'll go ask him." Shiro stood up and walking back around the corner he walked over to Iruka.

"Can you do a barrier that nobody can see through?" Shiro asked as he crossed his arms.

Iruka smiled, "I can. Why do we need a barrier?"

Shiro gestured with his chin to follow him. Iruka walked behind him.

Shiro walked over to where Eri was standing and told Iruka, "We need a barrier here."

Iruka nodded and complied. Eri turned and pulled his shirt up to his shoulders. Iruka gasped quietly when he saw all of the scars. Eri looked at him.

"Just a minute Shiro." Eri pulled his shirt completely off, exposing his chest and back.

Iruka's eyes grew wide, "What happened?"

Eri pulled his shirt back on and held it up to expose his mid back. Kneeling, he said quietly, "All right Shiro, I'm ready."

Shiro placed his hand over the scar and started to heal when Eri turned into Minako. Iruka gasped out loud, but couldn't say anything. Minako watched him sadly.

Shiro finished as he said, "It should be healed now."

Minako pulled her shirt down and holding her hand out to Shiro said, "Thanks."

Shiro took it and smiling said, "I don't need thanks."

Minako turned to Iruka who was still standing speechless. Minako transformed back into Eri. Iruka pointed and was trying to say something when Eri held his hands up.

"I know. But it is actually me, Minako." Eri smiled, "this is just my disguise."

Iruka crossed his arms and glaring at him said, "Tell me one thing that only Minako would know."

Eri said, "That's easy. When Pain attacked and I was dying I asked you to tell Genma that I've always loved him. And I asked you if you would take me outside of the tent so I could see the clear blue sky one last time before I died."

Iruka smiled and hugging Eri said, "Only Minako would have known that. I'm glad you're safe."

Eri pulled away and said, "We need to be getting back." pointing his finger at Iruka, Eri said, "And you had better not tell."

Iruka smiled again and as he turned to walk back, he said over his shoulder, "Your secret is safe with me."

Eri sighed and turned to Shiro, "Thanks again. I need to be getting back to the others."

Shiro nodded and followed Iruka while Eri walked over to where Genma and the others were gathered.
