Due to my lack of updating, I have decided to make this chapter extra long~
Chapter Thirty-Seven:
Sebastian inwardly frowned with disgust as she invited the thing who tried to kill his previous master inside the house. Obviously, the demon had trust issues with the Senior reaper and they weren't just going to heal so up and easily.
The Undertaker gave another eerie laugh, walking inside as his long, pitch-black robes swayed behind him. All that was visible on his face were the stitches, but that's all Sebastian had cared to see, really. He had seen the Undertaker's face once on occasion, and he wasn't too enthralled to see his face again.
"Ehehe, thank you" He grinned, his smile long on each side of his mouth.
"I'll go make tea!" Tohru beamed. If there was one thing she loved to play, it was host.
Sebastian wasn't given any time to object this and offer to make it himself. Despite the fact that she would decline his offer, it was still proper of a butler to do something of the sort.
Tohru was an odd human- that much was easily put. When he had first came into her company, she did not fall for the seductive bait like all other women had in the past. It was the concept that she was helping people that got her to say those magic words. He sighed to himself. For the first time in a long time, he found himself not being able to understand a human being. Even though Ciel shocked him every occasion he had the chance to, he was easy to figure out. A young boy who wanted to get revenge on those who humiliated him and his family. Tohru, he couldn't understand in the slightest. Why would she make a deal to help other people? That was as stupid as stupid could get, he thought. There was no way that she could merit from their curse breaking, so why even bother?
Oh, well. That was a riddle for another day.
"You haven't changed one bit" Sebastian repeated himself, looking over the senior reaper with a stoic look. He was a guest now, he wasn't allowed to show any distaste he held toward him unless he absolutely had the correct initiative to.
"Well, it's hard for one to break a cycle that they have repeated for years" The Undertaker said, "But I can't say that you have stayed the same at all"
"And why is that?" Sebastian asked, without much interest at all.
"You're going soft" The Undertaker grinned, adding an eerie chuckle.
"Nonsense"
"Whatever suits your fancy" The Undertaker smirked.
Sebastian withheld a long sigh, starring at the Undertaker with his normal blank stare,
"What brings you here, anyways?" He inquired.
"I was rolling my cart of cinemax records through the library when I noticed a very depressed Nicole. I remembered that I was supposed to stack her late lover's cinemax records that day, so I opened them. Upon seeing them, I grew curious on to how one girl could make such a stiff board as Nicole go soft for her. Naturally, I had to come out and meet her myself" The Undertaker explained, "Wouldn't she be lovely all dressed up in a coffin?" He asked.
This set the butler on edge, his red eyes flashing at the reaper. There was no way in hell, ironically put, that he was going to let anyone put their filthy hands on his food. Who would want their food manhandled by people they don't know? The best way to prepare it is to fix it yourself, right?
"Unfortunately that's something you'll only see in your fantasies" Sebastian stated, a cold undertone hinted in his voice.
The Undertaker leaned forward on the table, placing his chin on the tops of his hands that were propped up by his elbows, something flashing under the hair that covered his eyes,
"Ehehe~ Unfortunately" He cooed, his black fingernails resting on the opposite hand.
Sebastian gave the reaper a cold stare, refraining from issuing any whole-hearted threat that he wanted to give him.
"So~ Sebastian, I hear you enjoy the taste of ongris? I thought you didn't have a use for human food-"
The Undertaker was cut off by the young girl who came out of the kitchen, small porcelain cups and a tea cup on a tray that she carried a bit too recklessly. Sebastian's eyes flashed once more at The Undertaker before he turned to the girl, his hands brushing over hers as he moved to get the tray from her hands.
"I'll take this off your hands, if you'd let me" He said, both index fingers curled ever so slightly around the silver holsters of the tray.
"Th-Thank you"
"You're Welcome" He said as both hands curled around the holsters, picking up the tray with a graceful ease and moving it over to the table, setting the tray in the middle of the square table.
Sebastian picked up the porcelain tea pot, which hand black and blue hand-painted flowers painted delicately on it, and poured it into one plain white porcelain cup. The tea made contact with the porcelain and began to steam, puffing up in long and delicate curves.
"I don't see how the Americans can stand having ice in their tea" Sebastian commented, pushing the cup over to their guest with the same amount of grace and ease that he had used to pick up the tray.
"Neither can I" The Undertaker replied, picking up the cup with his forefinger and thumb with delicacy and taking a sip, the smirk never coming off of his face.
Tohru was slightly stiff, sensing the cold wind that had gushed through the room. How could something so cold be held between two people... er, reaper and demon. It was something more than just the whole "Demons-Steal-Souls-we're-supposed-to-collect" thing. It was like they had a deeper history with each other than she could understand at first glance.
Later, she would ask Sebastian what their history together was.
Tohru's eyes shifted slightly. Kyo should be home soon, from the dojo. And Yuki from student council. She knew that Shigure wouldn't come down to eat until late when he was in the middle of a writer's fit, in which ideas flowed like the river. He seemed to be in a lot more of those lately.
"I'm going to take Shigure-San his dinner" Tohru said quietly, fidgeting on her feet slightly. This cold wind was uncomfortable, left the room in frozen winter and ice sickles.
"Would you like me to take it for you?" He asked, then caught himself. "Or assist you there?" He asked. There was no way he would ever trust her alone with Undertaker. The reaper noticed this and smirked,
"What are your measurements? I could make your coffin to your liking so that when you die, you can have the coffin of your dreams"
This made the hairs on the back of her neck stand on end, but she still managed to give a wry smile toward him,
"Thank you for being so kind, but I don't think I need one just yet"
"You'll be in one sooner than you expect"
There was a dead silence that blew through the room. It stayed like that for a long while before the sound of the sliding door broke through the silence.
"Honda-San, I'm home" The rat called, using his right foot to take off the first shoe from the heel.
"Ah-Welcome home Yuki-Kun!" She called, tupping over to the silver haired boy in the other room with a bit too much enthusiasm in her step, She hadn't talked too much to her guest, but she was silently glad for this. She didn't want to get to know him- he made the hairs on the back of her neck stand on in.
Of course, being that she never wanted to cross paths with him again- unless on polite terms, then she would be as kind as normal- it naturally meant that she would be spending a lot more time with this new figure in her life. It seemed as though whenever the demon had entered her life, all of her wants contradicted her while her needs matched up together perfectly.
"We have tea in the diningroom" She grinned at the rat, pulling him into the kitchen.
The rat gave a kind smile and followed her, immediately shuddering as he felt the cold air in the room wash over him.
"Who's this?" He asked, starring at the odd guest with slightly curiosity and confusion.
"Oh- Forgive me! Forgive me! I forgot to ask his name! I should have done that first, it's only the polite thing to do-"
"He goes by The Undertaker" Sebastian cut off her rant all while answering the rat's question.
"Un...der...taker?" Yuki asked slowly. He was slightly surprised, and kind of weirded out at the same time.
"Ehehe~ Yes. Though I am afraid I must be going~ But don't fret, you'll see me soon" The Undertaker cooed, grinning and standing from his place, "Thank you for the tea and entertainment~"
Tohru looked rather bewildered,
"Entertainment?"
He didn't say another word, but left where he had come from, passing a very confused and angered Kyo who had walked in from being at the dojo.
"Who the hell was that?!" Kyo asked.
"Nobody of your concern" Sebastian replied, picking up the tea set and taking it back to the kitchen.
"What do you mean by nobody of my concern?! I live here too!"
"Welcome Home, Kyo!" Tohru beamed up at the cat, who seemed to have had a rather rough day.
He looked down at her and gave her a half-smile, knocking his knuckles against her forehead gently,
"Thanks"
She grinned.
Sebastian sighed as he let the steaming water rush over the tea pot. At least, for now, things have returned back to their normal state. But there was certainly something coming up that The Undertaker didn't take the time to warn them about.
