"The flaming mountain in my visions!"
After having an episode in front of Knock Out and Airachnid in the Nemesis, Megatron took off towards a volcano that was currently sprouting red-hot lava. But there was something about this volcano that made it important to Megatron. The regular molten lava wasn't the only substance the volcano was sprouting. There were also streaks of glowing purple mixed among the brown mountain.
Megatron's madness had him rambling as he transformed and landed on a rock, "As if it summoned me! Guided me! This is where I am to position my Space Bridge! The place from which I am to harvest Dark Energon!"
Then he heard the voice he never expected to here.
The voice of Optimus Prime over the commlink.
"Megatron! I am here! On your ship! Come and face me!"
The remaining sanity Megatron had took note of the tones in Optimus' voice. Clearly, he could tell the Prime was angry. Doing something that was rare of him.
Seeking out vengeance.
And he knew what for.
Optimus desired revenge for everything Megatron had done to harm him. Directly and indirectly. Killing his parents. Repeatedly harming his spark mate. Taking his daughter away from him and then leave her fighting for her own life. The list would go on. He would be there forever if he attempted to list everything.
Instead, he did this.
"The place I am to defeat the last of the Primes!" Megatron snarled, continuing his earlier rambling before speaking into the commlink of the Nemesis, "Here this! Any Decepticon who lays a hand on Optimus Prime will answer to me! Soundwave, lock onto my coordinates and lead my opponent to his destiny!"
He didn't have to wait long for his longtime enemy to arrive at the location. Patiently, he waited for the GroundBridge portal to appear before him. Eventually, it did.
Optimus walked through the portal. His determination seeping through. Every step showed malice; something that was rarely seen in the Prime. Immediately, even though Megatron wouldn't admit this…
He knew he had a real fight on his hands.
"Megatron, today you answer for your crimes against Cybertron and against humanity. You will also pay for the harm you have placed upon my family," Optimus vowed before reciting, "One shall stand…"
"And one shall fall," Megatron finished before crying, "YOU, OPTIMUS PRIME!"
Their battle cries echoed all around as they charged towards one another. The closer they came to one another, the further their fists drew back.
Then…the first punch was delivered.
Earlier…
Once making sure that Bulkhead made it through the Space Bridge safely, Optimus set out on his quest. He was going to find Megatron and end the war…
Whatever price he would pay, he would end it.
Vehicons looked up to the sound of thundering footsteps approaching them. They first thought that those steps were coming from their lord and master. However, their master wasn't red and blue and didn't transform into a truck.
"I have come for Megatron. And him alone. Stand down and be spared," Optimus advised, his servos transforming into his blasters.
If there were two words to describe the Vehicons, loyal and stupid were them. They immediately unfolded their own blasters and prepared to fight the Prime, staying true to the oath they had taken upon inception and joining the cause.
What they didn't expect was to be taken down so easily.
They fell to the ground, hit in the chest by the Energon blasts from Optimus' blasters. Optimus continued forward, shooting any drone that stood in his way. Nothing was going to stop him…
Except Megatron's absence.
Normally, the Decepticon lord or someone on his behalf would have surfaced to deal with him. The absence of a high-ranking Decepticon surprised him. Especially with the foretold planetary alignment looming all around them. So…he decided to take it to the next level.
He called Megatron out.
Setting the commlink on a nearby dead Vehicon to Megatron's frequency, he issued a challenge, saying to Megatron whom he knew would be listening to his message,
"Megatron! I am here! On your ship! Come and face me!"
When he was done, he casually dropped the limp hand and stood up straight. Nobody seemed to dare to try and stand in his way, not wanting to end up like their companions.
Eventually, he heard the general announcement over the general commlink and understood why.
"Hear this! Any Decepticon who lays a hand on Optimus Prime will answer to me! Soundwave, lock onto my coordinates and lead my opponent to his destiny!"
Upon those words, Soundwave appeared from the winding corridors and stood before Optimus. Wordlessly (like he was with everything else), he locked on to Megatron's coordinates and activated the GroundBridge programmed into him.
Without any hesitation, Optimus walked through it.
When he arrived, he saw rocks, a volcano sprouting lava and the faint trace of something else that he wasn't able to identify just yet…
And Megatron himself.
He wasted no time, snarling,
"Megatron, today you answer for your crimes against Cybertron and against humanity. You will also pay for the harm you have placed upon my family. One shall stand…"
"And one shall fall. YOU, OPTIMUS PRIME!" Megatron growled.
Charging forward, Optimus let out a long, drawn-out battle cry that was increasing in volume. Megatron was doing the exact same thing as his nemesis. They crew their balled-up fists back as they came closer to one another.
The clang sounded around them as the first punches were delivered.
And the battle began…
Thought I might try a different method of writing for a change. You know what they say. A change is as good as a holiday…
This probably isn't the chapter you were expecting. Considering how I ended the previous chapter. But that WILL be resolved…once I decide whether or not Talida should live and die.
