Hey there! Arinna here! You know what I really love about New York? I love how many people there are.
Why would I love that I'm sure you are asking? Well, it is great because say your being chased, you can easily lose them.
Also, if you are in a large crowd, you have less of a chance of being mugged. You might get pick pocketed easily, but hey, that is better than a guy chasing you around with a gun or something.
I'm sure April would agree with me.
Speaking of April, I'm currently hanging out with her. Since she found out I was The Hunter, she suddenly has all these questions for me. So lately, we've been having Lunch together a lot. I would invited the boys to come along, but of course, people have Lunch during the day time, so that is a no go.
So it is just April and me time. Nicole sometimes comes a long though.
"So you went to the same High School I go to?" April smiled at me.
"Yeah." I nodded. "I actually find it a little funny when you told me." I chuckled. "Is that scorch mark still on the wall of the West Wing?"
"Yeah. Was that there when you went there?" she titled her head.
"April Dear, Nicole and me were the ones who put that mark there." I snickered.
"Wha- how?" her eyes widened and she grinned.
"Well, it was mainly Nicole, but I suppose you could say I was involved since I didn't try and stop her." I shrugged. "She was messing around with a bow torch, lets leave it at that." We both laughed after that.
Yup. This is basically how the past couple days have been going. April is a really sweet girl. I'm glad the boys found a friend like her. And a great plus side, none of the Kraang or Foot have been showing their faces lately. Which is great! We get a chance to relax a bit and just-
SWOOSH!
We both froze when something large flew over our heads.
…Hold that thought.
"….Did you see that-?" I looked to her.
"Yeah." She nodded. Frowning, we both crouched a bit, slinking forward. I just had to open my big mouth and say nothing exciting has been happening, didn't I? Now something is gonna happen! That is just how life goes! Stupid Arinna, you know this!
Narrowing my eyes, I reached towards my back and under my shirt a bit, running the tips of my fingers over my Bow that I kept strapped to my back.
Scanning the area, I glanced at April when nothing happened. Unsure of what to do, she shrugged and kept going.
Well, I guess it was nothing-
SWOOSH!
Ah! There it is again!
Jumping in shock, April and me looked up to the roofs above us. On top of one, a dark shadow suddenly stood straight. It was tall and from the looks of it, had these weird sort of feather things sticking out from it. When he growled at us, April screamed and ran.
"Wha-" I was shocked that she suddenly booked it down the alley way. "April! Wait!' I called, speeding after her. Whipping around the corner, I slide a bit, barely ducking when the creature flew over my head, it's claw barely scrapping my shoulder. Wincing when it ripped through a bit of my shirt, I sprinted after April.
"Why is it always on Tuesday that these sort of things happen?!" I demanded. "Quickly, in here." Grabbing her arm, I dragged April into the nearest building, which so happened to be a bank.
When we were safely inside, I pulled April behind me and glared at the glass window.
"W-What was that thing?!' April demanded, clinging to the back of my shirt.
"I don't know-" I motioned for her to be quiet. There is no way that thing didn't see us run in here. Her breathing heavy, April nodded, looking around wildly. After a few seconds of nothing happening, she seemed to calm down a bit.
That is until something flew over the window and came charging at us.
Yanking my bow off my back, I grabbed an Arrow I kept hidden within my boat. Ready for a fight, I narrowed my eyes when the monster came speeding at us. April on the other hand, screamed right into my ear.
…Ow.
However, it turned out we had nothing to worry about, because the creature ended up just slamming into the window. Shocked, April and my eyes widened. The thing chasing us… was a bird?!
Seriously, no joke. It looked like some sort of… man pigeon thing! It had the head and arms of a pigeon, but it's torso and legs were that of a man.
He was a mutant. Another mutant?
Watching it slide to the ground, we looked at each other.
Ouch.
Rushing outside to check on the bird/man Mutant, April jumped behind me when it rose to its feet. Narrowing my eyes at the bird, I glared at it. It blinked at us, turned its head, and flew away.
…Okay? So it doesn't want to attack us? What the heck? And how is he even able to fly away with those skinny little arms of his!?
"My life has gotten really weird." April murmured as she watched the bird fly away.
"Welcome to my world." I patted her back comfortingly and placed my bow and arrow away. "Though that definitely wasn't something you usually see."
"How are you so calm with all of this?!" April demanded.
"…" I shrugged. "Well, my Son's are turtles, I have a friend who is a Rat and… I sometimes beat up alien brain things so… yeah."
Speechless, April threw her arms up. "I'm freaking out!" she screamed.
Realizing that April wasn't as use to all of this as I was, I placed a hand on her shoulder. "Hey, hey." I said soothingly. "It is okay. We'll figure this out." I wrapped my arm around her shoulder. "Come on, lets head back to the lair and talk to the boys about what just happened."
Her shoulders relaxing, April slowly nodded her head. "O-Okay." She nodded.
I smiled at the younger girl. This must have been so hard on her. She was really brave though for going through everything she did and still being able to hold her head up high. Her Dad definitely raised her right, that is for sure.
…It is just too bad that he Dad isn't here to see her now. I'm sure he would be proud.
Narrowing my eyes, April and me moved out of sight of any pedestrians that might see us and into the sewers. I swear, I was going to find the Kraang and get April's Dad back. It wasn't right for a girl her age to be without either of her parents.
…Though, it is kind of funny I say that. I was around her age when I lost my brother and was completely on my own. That isn't something I was her to have to experience though.
"Alright April, lets-"
Yeah, you would think she would be calm once we got into the sewers. Nope. As soon as we got a few feet in, she booked it for the lair.
"April! April sweet heart it is okay! Just stay calm!" I screamed to her as I ran after her.
"I'll be calm when I'm in the lair!" she screamed back. With a sigh, I shrugged and followed after her quietly. As soon as we were in the lair, April began to call out for the guys. "Guys! Guys!" she shrieked. "You wont believe what happened!"
She leapt over to the couch, and sat down, hugging herself. Running out from the Dojo, Donatello instantly ran to comfort her. "Alright April calm down." He said softly. "Are you okay?"
"Arinna and I…we… we're being hunted." She whispered quietly.
"I wouldn't call it hunted." I shrugged. "That guy didn't really give me a hunting sort of feeling. More like a… poorly stalking." I shrugged.
Looking worried, Leo sat me down. "Something was stalking you?" his eyes trailed to the scratch I got on my shoulder when that pigeon tried to grab me. Narrowing his eyes at it, he motioned for Raphael to grab a Band-Aid. Not waiting a second, Raphael rushed into the kitchen to grab one.
Oh boy, here comes worried Leonardo.
"We're fine." I assured him before he could ask. "April is just a little shakened up. It was just a bird."
"A bird?" Raphael frowned when he returned, pausing in handing me the Band-Aid. Suddenly, all seriousness in the situation vanished. "Seriously Mom?"
"Hey. I correct myself, it wasn't just a bird." I huffed.
"It… it was a giant pigeon!" April yelled, shaking Donnie's shoulders.
"…" Raphael began to laugh, pointing his finger at April. We all turned to glare at him. His laughs dying, he straightened and cleared his throat. "…I can't be the only one who finds that funny."
"It's not funny Raph." Donnie snapped, helping April to her feet. "There is a creature out there trying to hurt my April and Mom!"
April turned to give Donnie an incredulous look.
Oh! AWW! That was cute! That was super cute! His April! HAHAHA
Realizing what he said, Donnie blushed. "S-Sorry, I meant… There is a creature out there trying to hurt my MOM and APRIL." He corrected himself quickly.
Haha, nice save Donnie.
Rolling his eyes, Leo moved my sleeve up a bit and dabbed a bit of water of the scratch. When he was sure it was alright, he placed the bandage over it. "There. Did it get you anywhere else Mom?" he asked, looking worried.
"I'm fine Honey." I assured him, patting him on the head.
"This is serious." Mikey said, lifting up a bowl of… eggs? "I better get Splinter."
"We don't really need-" before Leo could finish, Mikey grabbed one of the eggs and slammed it down on the ground. Suddenly, a puff of purple smoke surrounded my son and Splinter appeared in his place.
WHOA! Was that a smoke bomb?! That was so cool!
"Donatello! Did you finish making your smoke bombs?" I gawked at him.
'Sure did Mom." He beamed. "But use them sparingly… unlike Mikey." He grumbled. Grinning, I nodded and looked to Splinter.
"Michelangelo said you wished to see me." He announced.
"Yeah, Mom and April got attacked by a pigeon." Raphael tried his best not to snicker.
Blinking a few times, Splinter looked at me, as if this was nothing new. Hey!
After that, we all moved to the couch so April and me could tell the story. We told them how we were just walking around town when suddenly that pigeon tried to grab us.
"His talons were razor sharp." April added. "He would have torn me to pieces… if he hadn't slammed into the glass."
I honestly didn't feel like that Pigeon would have gone that far. I mean… he didn't seem like the brightest fella since he flew straight into a window. But hey, that is just me. I've dealt with more threatening things than April has, so this is probably pretty intense for her.
Raphael began to laugh again. He paused to find none of us were laughing again. "…Really? Just me?"
"Raphael." Splinter scolded, whacking him on the head with his walking stick. "Clearly April is upset." He narrowed his eyes.
"Yeah dude!" Mikey agreed. "So insensitive." He turned to April. "Do you need a tissue?"
"I think I'm okay." April said honestly, looking much more calm then how she was earlier.
"I'll get you a tissue." Mikey lifted up one of the smoke bomb eggs any way and slammed it into the ground. Shocked when he disappeared, April blinked when Mikey reappeared to her right. "We don't have any tissues… can I make you some soup?" he lifted another smoke bomb egg.
Anyone else starting to get the feeling that Mikey is only doing this just so he can us the smoke bombs? Yeah, that is what I thought.
"Stop it." Donnie growled, snatching the egg out of his hands. "Don't worry April, we wont let anything happen to ya."
"Donnie's right." Leo smirked. "We're gonna set a trap for this Pigeon man, and make sure he never bothers Mom or you ever again."
"Thanks boys." I smiled at them.
"Yeah. And I know what we can use as bait." Donnie agreed, giving April and me a long look.
…He wants us to be the bait… doesn't he?
"Bread crumbs!" Mikey jumped to his feet. When everyone stared at him, her frowned. "Pigeons eat bread crumbs." He huffed
"I meant April and Mom." Donnie sighed at him. Yup, called it.
Blinking a few times, Mikey gasped. "You're gonna let him eat April and Mom! NO!" he screamed, jumping in front of us protectively. "I thought you liked them!" he accused.
"Yeah!" April agreed, just as upset.
"Don't sweat it." Donnie said soothingly. "We've got your back." He winked. "Plus, I'm sure Mom can take on some over grown pigeon."
Mikey sniffled a bit, wrapping his arms around me. "Don't you worry Mom. I wont let that Pigeon Man eat you." He snuggled closer to me. Giggling a bit, I patted his head.
"I know you wont dear." I beamed. "You're my Hero after all."
"Yeah!" he jumped happily. "I'm Mom's hero! None of you are!"
The others rolled their eyes at him.
"Alright Mighty Mutants." Leo chuckled. "Lets do this."
"Mighty Mutants?" Raphael questioned. "What? Dancing Dorks was already taken?"
With a shake of his head, Leo grabbed my wrist and pulled me towards the front door.
"Wait!" Splinter called to us. Pausing, we all turned to him in surprise.
"You do not yet know what you are facing." He announced. "Perhaps you should study your enemy before confronting him." He suggested.
Oh, hey yeah. That is actually a really good idea. I mean, I only saw him for a second, but that pigeon guy didn't really seem like he wanted to hurt April and me. He kind of looked… a little lost and confused.
"…With all due respect Sensei-" Leo began. "It's a Pigeon." He shrugged.
Yeah? And Spider Bites was just a Spider, but we saw how hard it was to fight him. Oh well, they saw how hard it was to fight him. I kind of just watched, but whatever.
"What you know is dangerous to your enemy. What you think you know is dangerous to you." Splinter poked Leo on the chest with his walking stick.
Oh, I like that. That is a good quote. I'm gonna write that down later in my quote book.
"I fear you are all becoming over confident." Splinter narrowed his eyes. He looked to me.
I shrugged, unable to argue. It was kind of true.
"Sensei-" Leo smiled. "In the past few months we've taken down Giant Spiders, Plant creatures, Alien Robots, and an army of Ninjas." Behind him, Leo's brothers began to high five each other.
Oh, that DEFINITELY didn't say they were over confident.
"Maybe we're not over confident?" Leo suggested. "Maybe we're just that good." With that, he turned and left. Letting him pass, I looked back to Splinter to watch him sigh.
"Arinna-"
"Don't worry Master Splinter." I bowed to him. "I'll keep an eye on them." I promised.
"I hope you do Arinna." Splinter said darkly. "I fear their recent victories on the battle field have clouded their judgment. You might just be their only hope in seeing the truth that is blind to them all." He looked over his shoulder at me. No pressure or anything. But I'll do my best. I would die before I let anything happen to April or my sons.
Narrowing my eyes I nodded. "Hai Sensei."
"Mom!" Mikey called from the sewers. "Hurry up."
"Coming!' I called. Rushing after them, I quickly caught up before we left the Sewers. As we walked, Leo devised a plan to draw the Pigeon out with April and me. We would stay out in the open while the others hid around the area. When the Pigeon arrived, the boys would jump out and sneak attack it.
It sounded like a good plan… at least at the moment.
Which is why April and me are out here right now in the middle of the city in a dark alleyway. Yeah, this obviously didn't look like a trap or nothing. Hopefully though, the Pigeon wasn't bright enough to realize that it was indeed what it appeared to be.
"Here I am walking around in the big City!" April waved her arms around. "All alone with only my dear friend Arinna here with me. Both of us… completely defenseless. I sure hope no crazy pigeon man sneaks up on me."
"That would be awful!' I agreed. "I'm terribly afraid of pigeons!"
Sticking his head out from behind a dumpster, Donnie frowned at us. "What are you doing?" he questioned.
"You wanted us to be bait. We're bait." April answered.
"That's not how Bait talks." Donnie shook his head.
"I've been bait before." I lifted up my hand. "I'm kind of a pro at this."
"Yeah!" April pointed at me. "So how do you know how bait talks Donnie?" April folded her arms.
"Well I know bait doesn't talk back." Donnie grumbled crossly.
Oh? OH? You wanna get snippy with me Donatello?
Narrowing my eyes, I whirled around to stare Donatello straight in the eyes.
"Ohhh." His brothers giggled, peeking their heads out from their hiding spots.
"Oh no you didn't." Mikey wiggled his finger around before all of them ducked their heads back into their hiding spots.
"I mean uh-" Donnie stammered.
"Donatello Hamato. When we get home, we, will, have, words." I growled
"Y-Yes mom." He sighed, slouching his shoulders.
"Go." I ordered.
He stalked back to his hiding spot, leaving April and me alone.
With a sigh, April continued. "Here I am, acting natural with Arinna."
"Natural." I agreed.
"Just totally defenseless against any- I dunno, hideous mutant pigeon guy that might happen upon us."
"Yeah."
We paused, nothing happened.
"Maybe we need to change the way we go about this." I suggested.
"How so?" April titled her head.
"Well, we don't even know why he is chasing us. I mean, we could always cover ourselves in gravy."
"Why would we do that?' the younger girl gawked at me.
"Well, he might be trying to eat us." I announced
"What?" April squeaked, going pale.
"I'm not saying he is." I said quickly. "I'm just saying he might be. And you know, if he is, I brought some gravy with us. Nicole gave it to me." I held up the bottle for her to see.
"Why would you bring gravy?! I don't want to be bait anymore!' April screamed at the sight, rushing in the other direction.
"Ah! April wait! I was just joking!" I called, trying not to laugh as I ran after her.
"Mom!" I heard Leo scream whisper towards me.
With a laugh, I grabbed April's arm. "I'm kidding! I'm kidding!" I chuckled.
"That wasn't funny!' she whined.
"I'm sorry-" I froze at the sound of movement above us. It couldn't be-
Turning our heads at the sound of a strange birdcall, April and me screamed when we saw that crazy pigeon guy from before suddenly above us. With another cry, he catapulted himself down towards us; his talons held out, ready to slice us in two.
Reaching for my back, I jumped when the bird was suddenly electrocuted. Falling to the ground, the boys screamed and jumped the guy, holding him down.
Way to go boys!
"Okay! Okay!" the pigeon screamed, tapping out! "I give! I give! Uncle! Jeez Louise!"
Donnie suddenly appeared behind us, smirking. Holding up a strange device, he pressed to reveal that he was the one to shock the pigeon.
Smiling, April glanced at him. "And you said I wasn't good bait." She chuckled.
Rising to his feet while Raphael held the Pigeon down, Leo folded his arms. "Okay, start talking Pigeon Man." He ordered.
"I have a name.' the pigeon whined.
"Yeah?" Raphael inquired. "Well we just don't care what it is."
"Raphael." I scolded. Kneeling down in front of the Pigeon, who really seemed nothing like a threat at this point, I smiled. "What's your name?" I inquired.
"But Mom-" Raphael didn't look pleased that I was being nice to this guy.
"Honey, shh." I narrowed my eyes at him. "We don't know what this guy wants. He might just need our help."
"Our help?" Raphael scoffed. "Yeah, nothing says 'I need help' like attacking a person."
I rolled my eyes and looked back down at the Pigeon. "Your name?" I motioned to him. Looking up at me, the Pigeon blinked.
"I like you." He smiled. "You're much nicer than all these mean guys!" he snapped over his shoulder. Looking back at me, he cleared his throat. "I'm Pete."
"Hello Pete. I'm Arinna.' I greeted. "This is April, and my Sons. Leonardo, Raphael, Donatello, and Michelangelo."
"Hi!' Mikey waved.
"Why were you trying to hurt April and our Mom, Pete?" Leonardo narrowed his eyes, getting straight to the point.
"I wasn't trying to hurt them. Honest!" Pete yelped. "I was just bringing April a message!"
"A message?" My eyes widened.
"Yeah. From her Father." Pete added. Gasping, April looked to the guys.
"Let him up!' she pleaded. Doing as they were told, the boys jumped back, letting Pete up. When Pete was standing, he turned to April.
"We were both guests of the Kraang." He announced. "They poured some Ooze on me and turned me into this." He looked at his hands in disgust.
April frowned, looking guilty now for thinking this poor man was trying to hurt her. "That must have been horrible." She whispered. "Being turned into Pigeon."
"Actually, I started out as a pigeon." Pete announced.
"Told you the bread crumbs would have worked." Mikey folded his arms.
"Bread crumbs?!" Pete gasped, grabbing Mikey's shoulders and shaking him a bit. "You've got bread crumbs." He moved Mikey every which way to look for them.
"Um…" April lifted her hand up. "My Father?" she tried to get back on topic. Pausing from shaking my son, Pete lifted his head.
"Oh right-" he dropped Mikey on the floor.
"Ow!' he yelped as Pete pulled out a phone and handed it to April.
"My Dad's phone!" April gasped, clicking a button to play a video. From the screen, Mr. O'Neil suddenly appeared. Crowding around April we all listened quietly.
"Something terrible is about to happen. I don't know what but it is extremely important that you get out of the city as soon as you can!" he pleaded. "Save yourself and remember, I love you."
Hey eyes widening, April brought the phone close to her heart. "I love you too Daddy." She whispered softly.
Oh April.
Reaching out, I placed a hand on her shoulder. She looked up at me, whipping a small tear from her cheek.
"Do you have any idea what he is talking about?" Leo inquired.
"I'm just the messenger." Pete shrugged. Leo frowned, unsure of what to do.
"We've got to get you out of the city." Donnie announced, placing a hand on April's shoulder.
"I'm not going anywhere without my Dad." April snapped.
"But you heard him." Donnie tried to argue. "Something terrible is about to happen."
"Then we better hurry." She countered. Donnie looked shocked, unable to find a point to argue hers.
"She is right Donatello. We know the Kraang are up to something. The best thing to do right now is stop them before the accomplish whatever that something is." I nodded towards Leo, who nodded back.
"Can you tell us where the Kraang are holding Mr. O'Neil?" he asked Pete.
"I can, but it is gonna cost you a lot of bread." Pete smirked.
"We're talking about actual Bread… right?" Leo asked slowly.
"Yeah. Sour dough." He nodded.
"Done." Leo smirked. That would be so much easier to get than money.
"Why not some other type of bread?" Mikey inquired.
Pete blinked a few times. "Well uh… I dunno. I'm fine with other bread too I guess. Like French bread. French bread is good." He patted his stomach. (A Guest-y mcguest suggestion! Thanks buddy!)
"Oh Hun," I patted the mutated pigeon on the back. "You came to the right people. I know the mother of bread making- or, I know the mother of selling sour dough. She isn't exactly the best at making it herself, but she has a uh… monkey, who does it for her."
"Really?" the pigeon grinned.
"Yup. We just gotta make a quick stop to get a friend and then we'll get ya your bread."
"Lets roll!" Mikey cheered, popping up next to us to throw a smoke bomb on the ground.
Cough! Cough! Oh jeez! Wasn't expecting that!
AND WE ARE DONE! Sorry it took me so long to update everyone. I've actually been gone at Europe the past couple days, so that is why I wasn't able to reply to any of your messages or update any of my stories. Reviews:
Tess Carver: Oh! Hi Celebrityfan/TessCarver :D Long time no see/talk. Yeah a lot of people wanted this story to be a SplinterXArinna story. I don't know. I'm willing to make another story based around that pairing though if people really want it.
EpicThunder101: You definitely should make that a thing Sebastian! It would be hilarious
Arinna: Haha, thank you hon :D I'm glad you liked that chapter.
16: Thanks bud! Nicole is totally fine with it. She is just like… whatever. Totally what Nicole would do. Nicole is pretty relaxed type of person. It takes a lot to completely freak her out. Sure, she'll be shocked, but to actually dumbfound her, it takes a lot. As for Shredder finding out Arinna's identity… all in due time ^_^ Once he does though, he'll definitely be using the info to his advantage.
IloveRaphael: Thank you! I definitely will continue!
TenTenbaby: Can't wait to get your reviews too! Thank you! :D
Grapejuice101: Thanks! If I need help I'll let you know :D
Animesan: The Shredder fight is gonna be epic. Sorry I wasn't able to update soon :( I'll update much quicker though now that I am back! :D
Jacque' al Kitsune: Nicole is one of my favorite OC characters besides Arinna. Though I don't actually have that many OC characters to begin with. Only a few XD
Mynameisthedoctor: Oh my gosh I love Doctor Who and your name! And I have another story based on when they were babies, so this is just to help people figure out which time period I'm talking about. Thanks for checking out the story though :D
HardyGal: The Gauntlet is an intense episode. So many different things happen. 0.0
Orihime-san: Aww, thank you. My Dad once said that to me. It was an amazing moment, so I couldn't help but steal his words for this. Arinna might just jump in at the last second… who knows XD hehehe. As for Project A, I don't know. There is already a person in the DC universe with the name 'The Hunter' :( So I'm not sure.
Angelchamp3: Thank you! :D
Guest-y mcguest: Haha, I like your name :D I love Pete! I wish they added him in more! Which is why I'm gonna add him in more in this story! :D Also, thanks for the French Bread suggestion! :D
CatGirlFireFlare: I almost cried when I wrote that thing about Arinna's brother. That is just a… that is a big emotional thing for Arinna. *sniff sniff* The mind reading thing definitely started with Rock Paper scissors XD
The Potatoe One: I do watch Gravity Falls. It is really funny. My sister says I remind her of Mable. XD
Tmntfan4ever: Lose the narrating? Oh, sorry. That is something I can't do. I'm sorry it is hard to read though. I'll try to make it easier to read, promise! The narrating thing is just one of Arinna's things she does. If you want I can switch pov's every now and again so that they isn't any narrating. XD But the narrating thing is just how I like to write Arinna's POV, so I'm gonna stick with it. Thanks for checking out the story though!
Mistress Silver Moon: Oh my gosh, your name is so cool 0.0 I love it. AWW! And thank you! That is so sweet! I'm glad you like it! :D
Summer: You guys are all so sweet. Thank you so much :D
Kame otaku: I shall indeed update :D
Dragonblooded: Thank you! :D That means a lot. I do see a lot of fanfictions now a days that are romance based. Especially TMNT fanfics oddly enough 0.0
