Shuichi Minamino AKA Kurama

Series: YYH

"Shuichi, this young lady is Kagome and this young man here is Souta. They're your step siblings." Emerald green eyes took in the two, one was a pre teen and the other a young woman around his age. He glanced from them back to his mother and stepfather then back to the two in front of him.

A small polite smile was on his face, his mother had been bugging him to come home and visit so as to meet his step siblings. They were from his stepfather's first marriage and were in the custody of their mother. Yet after he remarried their mother thought it would be best for all of them to get to know each other.

His own mother agreed.

He was away at college, as well as playing spirit detective in Yusuke's absence, so this was his first meeting with them. Already he could tell Souta was disinterested, yet was being polite about it. Kagome on the other hand had a bright smile on her face as she took him in, her deep blue eyes sparkling. The look put him a bit on edge but he brushed it off, being a spirit detective for so long had made him paranoid.

Kagome smiled as she rocked lightly on her feet, her hands clasped behind her back. "It's nice to meet you Minamino-kun." Her voice was light and friendly and he returned her smile with his own as he inclined his head.

"Likewise Higurashi-san." Being polite he used the proper term when addressing her and watched as she frowned at him.

"Call me Kagome, Higurashi-san is my mother." She lightly nudged her brother as he gave a snort. He didn't like these visits, he wanted nothing to do with their father and his new family but was doing as asked by their mother. She understood, when she was younger so to disliked their father for leaving them, but now that she was older she understood so much more now.

Even so it was a bit odd, meeting your slightly older step brother...who happened to house a demon soul? She arched an eyebrow at him yet quickly lowered it as he took notice, she didn't want to put him on edge on their first meeting after all. It was so rare to find someone with any ties to the supernatural realm anymore.

After the jewel was completed, and her days in the void were thankfully over, she had been spat back out into her own time, alone and broken. It was a hard adjustment, one that she was still making but she was willing to move on with her life. It was what they would have wanted, hell her group had many talks about what might happened after the Jewel was complete.

The general consensus was that she carry on, and so she was. Already she was preparing to enter college and make the most of her life. So when her mother had told her that their father, whom they had no real contact with since both Higurashi siblings were young, had reached out to try to get to know them she accepted the offered hand.

She liked to think she was giving him the same chance Inu Yasha would have given his own father if the fates had seen fit to let it occur.

"Well, we'll leave you three to get acquainted." All three merely nodded as their parents left the room, wanting to give them the chance to bond. An awkward silence settled over them, the only sound coming from Souta's portable game, which he had pulled from his hoodie the second their respective parents were out of earshot.

Being the social butterfly of any group Kagome took it upon herself to break the ice. Seeing as Souta was too busy playing Pokemon and Shuichi was content to just stand there in silence. What was it with demons and brooding? Was it an unofficial rule? Along with being breathtakingly gorgeous?

"Sooo..." Kagome flushed as her step brother focused his piercing green eyes on her. They reminded her of Shippo but only in the slightest Shippo's eyes had been warm and full of childish glee. Shuichi's...while they came off as polite and kind on the surface she could see the cold cunning thought process of a predator.

It made her own eyes flash in glee. "What do you know about shrines and mikos?" She could only grin coyly as she saw the suspicion in his eyes flare to life. Oh, this was going to be a fun game and at the end of it she would have the respect of her step brother. And maybe his trust as well, and if that lead to her finding more supernatural things and beings then that would be even better. If not then she would cling to what little the fates had seen fit to grace her with.

She briefly wondered if he knew any male demons with silver hair, she was a sucker for silver hair!

AN: So I only have one more pre typed chapter then I'm out of chapters for this series. Any suggestions? Otherwise I might move onto a new fic or return to an older one. XD
