The boys parked their motorcycles in the field behind their house, quickly making their way inside and heading straight for the basement. It was empty save for the washer and dryer off to their left and the boiler behind and to their right. Zeus headed straight for the wall in front of them, placing his palm on an inconspicuous section of the brick. After a few seconds, blue light appeared around his hand as a small section of the wall to his left opened, revealing a low lit corridor. Zeus and his brother entered the short corridor, the wall closing softly behind them. A glowing handprint awaited them at the other end, just a few feet ahead of them. Zeus, still in the front, placed his palm over the soft blue light. The light brightened around his hand and the final door opened, allowing the boys to enter their lab. Really, it was just a mini dojo, practice weapons lining the walls and the floor covered in training mats, with a lab in an adjoined room. Through the bulletproof window along the right wall, they could see Eliza typing away at one of the computers. Not looking forward to the upcoming lecture, they entered the lab and removed their bandanas and ski caps.
"Your sister's signal dropped off the map several minutes ago," Eliza said without preamble. " I received its last transmission, but she could've been moved since then."
"Where was it?" Rix asked, moving to see over her shoulder. Behind him, DJ hopped up on the exam table and removed one of his throwing knives which he began to clean.
"Looks like a parking structure near midtown," Eliza answered. "I've been trying to get into the feeds, but someone set them on a loop."
"So we've got nothing," DJ stated, his ministrations becoming slightly more aggressive. Rix rested a hand on his brother's shoulder.
"We'll find her, Dame," Rix assured, invoking the nickname they had called the youngest triplet when they were all much, much younger and innocent. "We'll go by and search for clues. If we're lucky, the Davenports have a way to track Chase."
DJ nodded, though it was clear he didn't see much point in the suggested actions.
"There's some leftovers in the fridge. Grab something quick while I get full medkits together," Eliza directed as she stood from the desk. Of course, each triplet had a field kit for emergencies, but that was all for triages so they could get the wounded member back home to be properly treated. A full medkit would provide for more permanent solutions of larger injuries.
The boys nodded and headed back out of the lab and upstairs to the kitchen. There they found Ash and Evan, the younger following the elder as he headed to the fridge to grab a drink.
"D!" she exclaimed, pouncing on his legs. He smiled and ruffled her hair before she moved on to Rix behind him.
Ash closed the fridge, bottle of apple juice in hand, and turned to greet them as well. His brow furrowed as he noticed Felicity wasn't with them.
"Is everything okay?" he asked warily.
DJ forced a smiled and nodded. "Just a small complication, bud. Nothing you need to worry about."
It was clear the boy wanted to know more, but he wasn't about to bring it up in front of Evan. Instead, he simply gestured to the fridge and said, "There's some pizza in there from yesterday."
"Thanks, Ash. Why don't you and Evan go watch a movie in Felicity's room?" Rix suggested, his hand resting on the back of Evan's shoulder as she hugged his leg. "I'm sure she won't mind and Kita could probably use the company."
Ash simply nodded and reached a hand out for Evan who took it and followed him down the hallway to their sister's room. The boy looked back at them questioningly but entered at a nod from his brothers. As soon as the youngest Cordlins were gone, the older boys' shoulders fell.
"I don't know how long I can lie to them about this one," DJ admitted, slumping onto a stool. Rix squeezed his shoulder as he passed to the fridge.
"It's not for long, just 'til we get Felicity back," he promised.
DJ remained silent, not quite agreeing with his brother's optimism. Rix pulled out some slices of pizza and popped them into the microwave, standing by until it beeped and then taking the plate over to his waiting brother.
Eliza walked in as they were each finishing their second slice, a black duffle in her hand. She set it carefully at their feet before resting a hand on the back of each of their necks, squeezing slightly in comfort, the way she always did when they were stressed.
"I need you all to come home safe," she said. "If that means you run from a few fights, do it. Just bring your sister home and come back in one piece."
"Yes'm," the boys agreed in unison. She pulled them into a hug when they stood, holding them close as they rested their chins on her shoulders.
The three parted, and DJ picked up the duffle, carefully slinging it over his shoulder before offering Eliza a final wave and following his brother out to their bikes. After a few moments spent securing the duffle to Rix's bike, they adjusted their bandana's back over their faces and took off for the Davenports'.
Surprise! I'm not dead! I'm gonna try to get another chapter up this weekend. On a side note, I just started a new story called The Other Side if anyone is into Supernatural and/or NCIS. I'd appreciate it if you'd check it out!
