-Authors Note-
Well everyone, looks like it's time to finish this. The last Chapter is here, and it's the largest and most epic chapter yet! Hope you enjoy and favourite, and I'll see you again in Part 2!
Location: Ruins of Helix City
Time: 8:48 pm
Third Person PoV
The experience of the destruction that ensued to the cities some time earlier had caused worldwide panic. Even amongst the smouldering remains of Helix City, the heroes sat and cowered in fear as society faced total collapse. They all started to talk amongst themselves.
"There's nowhere left to go." Cupa realized.
"We're all gonna die soon." Vanessa said.
"We should have never left the Nether." Paula said to Fiona.
"There's still one more chance." Steve said seemingly to himself, but at the same time addressing the others. "We can go in there and stop them from summoning Herobrine, those two could eventually be stopped but we have truly no hope against him. We have a stockpile of weapons and armour, we can use them to fight our way through, so all we need is a way in." He seemed to know more about the scenario than the others did, this was one of his traits, to be able to plan out things and see the good or bad consequences easier. Maybe that was the reason it was him who somehow ended up here in the first place, or it might have been the fact that he had fought Him before. Either way, it wasn't going to be easy getting there…
"Had enough yet? Or do we need to take… more extensive measures to break you?" Valerie addressed them as she and Willow flew down to them. "Let's go, I want to show you something, how we're going to free Father from the Void." A portal opened up, and everyone was led through it. They came out the other side into the End. Steve smiled. This was the moment he had been waiting for, now all they needed was a distraction, which would come soon enough. Yaebi held on to his Survivalist Sword, Stephanie gripped her Mining Laser, Cupa sneakily pulled out her Destruction Catalyst, and everyone else secretly took out his or her weapons too.
"We thought you might want to see where all those things we stole from you went, so feast your eyes on The Machine!" Valerie said proudly, and everyone looked forward and gasped.
The Machine was a huge tower like device, twice as tall as the tallest obsidian tower, with all kinds of makeshift details on it, like missing segments of plating and wires exposed. About a quarter of the way up, the Zombie kingdom water wheel sat, laying horizontally and slowly turning. Above it were multiple rings of electromagnets, taken from the vault doors of the Skeleton Kingdom. Many tonnes of electronics from the Creeper and Spider kingdoms, as well as scrap metal from everything from trains to rockets made up the majority of the chassis of the Machine, and at the very top sat a beacon like structure with the Ender's Eye ruby inside it.
"S-Stephanie, do you know what that is?" Steve asked nervously, after staring at the massive behemoth of a contraption.
Stephanie thought for a while, and then answered. What she said finally revealed the intention of the Machine.
"It's a giant laser miner."
"What does that mean?" everyone asked.
"I'll answer that." Willow replied. "The End is situated in the Void, far below us is the Nether, and far above us is the Overworld. As you know, between the Overworld and the Void is an impenetrable layer of bedrock."
"So the point of this huge ass machine is to break one single tiny piece of bedrock? Worst eleven years of work ever." Vanessa taunted.
"We spent eleven years gathering the supplies and knowledge in order to build it, the actual construction took no more than a few days, especially with these guys." As she spoke, five girls clambered down from ladders, jumped off low platforms or, in the case of one, flew down. They looked like a dryad, a vampire, a kitsune, a catgirl and a hunter. Apparently they had built this whole thing in a matter of days, it was certainly impressive but the team had to act now or they would die.
"Well, it's a very nice machine you have there." Cupa said as she fixed a secure hold on the glowing triangle in her hand. "It would be a terrible shame if something happened to it, now wouldn't it?"
At that moment she launched a massive, massive blast out of the Destruction Catalyst towards the Machine. Amazingly, it didn't even hit it. It just dissipated over an energy shield that had magically appeared.
"You don't think we forgot to take precautions, did you?" Valerie laughed at Cupa's failure. "Anyway, now you know too much. Get ready to die."
"I don't think so." Steve retorted to her. "Now!"
Everyone jumped out and ran toward the machine, guns blazing. Even Valerie and Willow were taken by surprise. "Ivy, take care of them now!" Valerie shouted to the dryad next to her. She stamped her foot, and the ground lifted up beneath them, and huge vines burst from the end stone. Yaebi noticed this and got everyone out of the way before one of the vines wrapped around his ankle and picked him up.
"Everyone split up! Cupa, Andr, Stephanie, Cindy, and Rat, you're the most well protected, so find and take out the bad guys, everyone else, attack that tower!" Steve yelled out. Everyone followed this order, it wasn't a very good one but it was all they could do.
-Battle #1-
Yaebi vs. Ivy
The vine constricted around Yaebi, and he felt as he was going to be crushed. He quickly pulled out his sword and started hitting it frantically. It finally let him go and he fell to the ground gasping for air. Ivy sent bigger vines to finish the job, but he suddenly got up and without even looking at them, slashed them into pieces. Filled with the same kind of power he felt when he was trying to save Steve, Cupa and Andr back in Gravestone City, he didn't even blink when everything from vines to projectiles to thorns were directed at him, and he quickly dispatched them. Ivy was panicking now. How was this even possible? He suddenly charged towards her and hit her with the back of his sword, knocking her out.
-Battle #1 Over-
Winner: Yaebi
-Battle #2-
Cindy vs. Angel
Shots rang out as the two foes fired a mixture of bullets and arrows at each other, Cindy decided to switch to her electric bow and fired shots at speeds even Angel's bullets couldn't match. She decided it was time for a new plan of action and took out the machine gun that was slung over her back, and unleashed a hailfire of shots, never letting up once until she finally ran out of ammo. The barrel was about to melt too. Either way, it was finished. At that moment, Cindy jumped out and managed to clip her left arm, and she tried to stop herself from yelling out in pain. Angel finally had enough and pulled out her final trick, a huge shoulder mounted rocket launcher.
"A hooker with a bazooka? Now I've seen everything." Cindy taunted.
"YOU'RE THE HOOKER YOU BITCH!" She screamed and launched as many shots as she could directly at Cindy. The explosions were deafening as they hit and destroyed the cover Cindy had been hiding behind. Angel had to stop and reload, so Cindy took her opening and shot at an end stone cliff, sending blocks tumbling down and before she could even look up, Angel was half buried in cubes.
-Battle #2 Over-
Winner: Cindy
Battle #3
Stephanie vs. Vixen
"One genius to another, I'm smarter and prettier than you. You're nothing but a bug that knows how to build things." Vixen said to Stephanie.
"And you're a stuck up freak of nature, you know that?" she retorted, and fired laser blasts at her. She dodged them with ease and pulled out a large Tinkers Construct cleaver and swung the heavy blade towards a pylon that it cut into, dropping a half a ton of machinery down on top of Stephanie.
"Fuck!" she shouted and dropped her laser, only just able to catch the weight before it crushed her. Even so, she couldn't keep holding it forever, and she couldn't get out of the way before it came down if she dropped it.
Vixen walked over to her, a smug grin on her face. "Who's the freak of nature now?"
She picked up Stephanie's laser and took a few steps back before taking aim.
"Too easy." She smiled, and fired. The shot flew at the speed of light directly into Stephanie's chest, and the force sent her flying backwards into a wall long before the machinery she was holding fell. She slowly and cautiously opened one eye, and realized she wasn't dead. Vixen was mindblown at this recovery.
"Why…? How…?"
Stephanie didn't say a word, instead she unzipped her top to reveal white and green underneath.
"Quantum armour, bitch. Let's see you kill me now." she smiled and threw a small piece of metal above her. It dislodged a huge piece of scrap metal that fell on Vixen and badly injured her.
Battle #3 Over
Winner: Stephanie
Battle #4
Andr vs. Darcie
"This won't take long, some idiot endergirl shouldn't be that hard to kill." Darcie muttered, as she got ready to punch Andr's lights out. Teleporting to dodge her attacks, Andr felt as if she had no openings for attacks. When Darcie became exhausted, she seized the opportunity and pulled out her Thermal Expansion Enderium Sword. She sliced back at her, and pushed her back, before her sword finally hit something solid. Andr didn't believe it. Darcie was holding an Enderium Sword as well!
"You want to take this up a notch? Okay then…" She smiled, and bared her fangs as she swung forwards. An epic sword fight ensued, every attack Andr tried was blocked by Darcie, even when she teleported. Suddenly, Andr had an idea. She grabbed Darcie and teleported both of them to the top of an obsidian tower.
"You really want some danger, don't you?" Darcie asked her.
"Yeah, but you're the one in real danger." She replied.
Suddenly, she swung her sword into the Ender Crystal, and it exploded, sending them both flying off the tower. Andr closed her eyes and waited for the ground to hit, but instead felt something different. She looked up and heard a familiar voice.
"Saved your life, you so owe me for this." said Fiona, who had managed to catch her after she fell. Andr was glad firebats had evolved now, Fiona's ability to fly and superior strength meant she was going to live to fight another day. Darcie, on the other hand, had hit the ground hard, but since vampires are already dead, they weren't worried. Still must have hurt like hell though.
Battle #4 Over
Winner: Andr
Battle #5
Cupa vs. Nikki
The moment Cupa saw her opponent, she froze. Of all the foes in the End, she had to fight the cat. The one animal she feared more than any other.
"Meow." Nikki said nonchalantly. Even this made Cupa jump.
She grinned and sharp steel blades extended from the knuckles of her gloves and she ran towards Cupa, who was frozen with fear. Cupa finally worked up the courage to move out of the way. She started to run away, and climbed up a ladder onto the side of the Machine. She could see her friends trying to destroy it, but they weren't doing much. Nikki followed her up, jumping from platform to platform. Soon they were face to face halfway up the side of the Machine.
"Give up now, you're never going to beat me. You're too scared."
"Yes. Yes I am." Cupa said in despair. I can't beat you. But, I know what to do when you can't beat someone."
"And what is that?"
"Cheat."
Cupa fired her Catalyst at the platform below Nikki's feet, it disintegrated and she only just stopped herself from falling to the ground by grabbing a small handhold. Cupa looked down at her and smiled. She could see fear in Nikki's eyes, fear for her life.
"Wait…" she asked innocently. "Don't cats always land on their feet?"
"Th-that's just a myth!"
"Well, why don't we test that theory?"
"NO! NO! OKAY, I SURRENDER! PLEASE DON'T HURT ME!" Nikki screamed in total terror.
Cupa felt powerful. She had not only faced her fear, she had made it scared of her. She helped Nikki up, and looked at the pure fear on her face as she stared at her.
"Nobody told me this was part of the job. Fuck this, I'm out of here." she said weakly, and climbed down the ladder quickly.
Battle #5 Over
Winner: Cupa
Battle #6
Rat vs. Willow
"I don't want to hurt you. We're friends, remember?" Rat tried to reason with Willow.
"Sorry, but I have a job to do. I'll need a better reason than that to give up my whole life's work." She replied.
"Nova wouldn't do this."
"I'm not Nova. She died long ago, remember?"
"She's in you! I know it! Just…let her out!"
"I'm a wither. I always have been. I don't care about anything but freeing my Father."
Rat's heart sank. "Then Nova really is dead." He suddenly tensed up. "And you'll go with her!" He ran at her with full fury, but she just flew up into the air and avoided it. She then dropped down and launched a small Netherburst, creating lava pools everywhere and sending a shockwave through the ground.
Rat tried one more time. "Nova, it's…it's me, Sam."
Willow raised an eyebrow. "Sam…?" she thought to herself. "That's his real name?"
"Just stop it, please. Don't hurt him." A voice inside her head said softly. "Don't hurt him."
"Nova?" Willow said to herself. She stared at Rat – Sam – and stopped.
"You should leave. The Machine is starting up. Father will be free. Go, find a new dimension, and survive for as long as you can."
"I can't. I want to save the world. I want to save us. I want to save you."
"Well, I can't stop you. But I won't let the Machine be destroyed." With that, she flew away to the top of the Machine.
Battle Over
Winner: Truce
Battle #7
Steve vs. Valerie
Within seconds Steve was already thrown into the side of an obsidian tower and Valerie charged at him through the air, ready to cut him into pieces.
The Machine was just about fully charged and ready to fire. Valerie suddenly changed direction and flew to the control panel punching in numbers and starting the laser. There was a huge noise as the intense beam, unlike anything anyone had ever seen before, blasted up into the air and into the piece of bedrock directly above. Even though nobody could see it, it began to crack.
"It's WORKING!" Valerie shouted, and suddenly remembered Steve. She looked down to see that he was gone.
"Looking for me?" Valerie turned around and saw Steve right in front of her. Before she could react he punched her right off the side of the Machine, letting gravity decide whether she should survive seemed fair to him. He climbed to the top of the Machine, and looked at the ruby taking the strain of the amount of energy passing though it. He saw movement in the reflection of the glass and turned around to see Valerie flying towards him. She wasn't looking her best, she was scratched and messed up, and seemed to be absolutely furious.
"WHY WON'T ANY OF YOU JUST DIE!" she screamed at the top of the lungs and charged at him out of pure rage.
Steve waited for the impact, but then felt a force in his hand. He opened his eyes and saw a magnificent sword had materialised in it. The blade was golden, with runes on it. Somehow, he managed to translate them with no problems.
"Dragon Slayer." he said. That was the swords name.
He swung it at her and it just managed to hit her. It wasn't enough force to injure her, but it knocked her aside and she hit the ruby in the laser. A large crack appeared on it.
"It's gonna blow! Fuck this!" she yelled, and flew off.
"Need a lift?" Steve heard Fiona's voice from behind him. Notch dammit, he loved flyers on his side.
"Seeing as it might blow up, I'll say yes." He answered. When they were in the air, he looked back and saw the power build up and the priceless, one-of-a-kind ruby exploded into a million tiny pieces. The laser suddenly shut down.
"We did it!" Everyone cheered.
"No, you haven't" Willow's voice resonated through the dark void. She reached around her neck and found her necklace. On it was her most prized possession, her Nether Star. She pulled it off the chain and placed it where the ruby had been. It was significantly smaller, but did the same job. The laser started up again, more powerful than ever. A huge cracking noise filled the air as the bedrock finally gave in.
The next sound to fill the End was a low, gravelly voice. An unmistakable one.
"I…LIVE."
"Yes, yes you do, Father! You can destroy this world and make a new one, just like you said you would!" Valerie proudly addressed the voice.
"NO. I WILL DESTROY, AND THAT IS ALL."
"Valerie and Willow were confused now. But… you said you would! So we could live as well as you!"
"I HAVE REGAINED MY POWER, I NO LONGER NEED YOU. YOU WILL DIE HERE LIKE THE OTHERS."
There were no words to describe what those two girls felt in that instant. Double-crossed for years, their entire lives, nothing more than tools to be used to free him. The voice went silent, and instead, a rumble came from below.
"The grounds shaking!"
"It's an Endquake!"
Everyone started to panic as the End started to fall apart, Steve looked up to see the tallest obsidian tower in the End topple in his direction. There was no way to avoid this. But the impact never came. He looked up to see Valerie holding onto the tower, but she wasn't doing well. The damage she had sustained during the fight had made her too weak to throw it, she was eventually going to fail.
"Go! Now!" she shouted to him. Steve quickly complied. "And…" He heard her say. "I…I'm sorry."
With that, she fainted, and she fell to the ground, the tower landing on top of her. Steve tried to go back and get her out, but had his doubts that even she could survive, and turned around. They all gathered around the centre of the End and gathered up the unconscious foes they could recover.
"How do we leave, there's no portals or anything!" Paula exclaimed.
"There has to be a way out of here!" Vanessa said to everyone.
Steve had the instinct to turn around, and saw something that made his heart fell weird.
He saw Willow had recovered Valerie, and was desperately trying to wake her up.
"C'mon, sis. Get up. I know you can. I'm not leaving without you."
Steve looked at them, and then walked over to help. Valerie had saved his life, now he wanted to return the favour. He picked her up and carried her over to the others. Willow was confused.
"Why are you helping us? If you don't remember, we tried to kill you."
"Because she redeemed herself. And you can too. Can you get us out of here?"
Willow thought for a moment, and then nodded her head. She opened a portal, and everyone rushed though it seconds before the End collapsed. Back in the Overworld, they looked out for danger, and then tried to think of a plan.
"We need to move to another dimension. It's the only way we'll be safe enough to build up enough force to fight back against a god." Willow told everyone.
"And I know the perfect one." Yaebi announced. He dug a four block hole in the ground, and filled it with water and surrounded it with flowers. He then produced a diamond and threw it in. A huge lightning bolt hit the water, and it turned into a portal.
"Everyone, go though. Cupa, you go in last, I need you to blow it up as soon as we're all though." Steve said.
Everyone agreed, and they jumped through.
Once the portal was destroyed, there was no going back for a very long time.
"Welcome to the Twilight Forest!" Yaebi announced to everyone.
"We'll be safe here, and I just saw the perfect place to build a base!"
He led them over a hill to a beautiful meadow, with streams, plenty of trees, and cliffs laden with resources. Everyone gasped at the amazing beauty of the clearing. They would be safe here, and they would be able to get enough tools and weapons, as well as some training, to have a fighting chance against Herobrine, Nothing would hold them back, nothing would slow them down, until they had what they needed to save everything they ever knew from total destruction.
The battle is over.
The war starts now.
